Coke Studio celebrates Pakistan’s milestone 70th anniversary of Independence by releasing a heartwarming rendition of the National Anthem, sung by all 40 singers who will feature during the Season. A national anthem of any country is an integral part of its identity, arousing strong feelings of pride, loyalty, patriotism and allegiance. The powerfully moving rendition of the national anthem will be the perfect launch of what will be landmark tenth consecutive season of the country’s iconic platform, Coke Studio, quite aptly known as the Sound of the Nation. Each participating singer and musician got deeply emotionally involved during the production, coming together as one force for this special production of the national anthem.

MEEKAL HASSAN: “Coke Studio has always been superlative in terms of their accommodating all artists and it was a great experience working with Bilal and Faisal. The national anthem shoot was done painlessly and we shot that post our recording. The artists and producers did their shots independently (no pun intended) so I'm waiting excitedly to see the whole anthem with all our musical fraternity contributing to it.” “70 years of independence of the country should be a sobering achievement and give way to reflection on what exactly have we done in those 70 years as a nation. It is high time our people address institutional and moral decay and ask themselves what kind of country do we wish to have. Creation of a nation is one thing, emancipation of said nation, another.” ALI SETHI: "I grew up singing the national anthem at morning assembly: standing upright, arms stiff with fear. I loved the tune but didn't understand the words because they were in Farsi. I guess I look at it now with melancholy affection: how far have we traveled from that early pride in our Persian heritage! In short: I relished the experience of singing this anthem for Coke Studio 10 -- as it made me feel connected to a rare portion of our rich, stillbreathing past." FARHAN SAEED: “There are few things in Pakistan that unite the entire nation, our National Anthem being top of the list. Couldn't be happier to be part of this; and I love the way it's been arranged and redone by Strings. Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? We went to Madagascar and Kenya. On doing some research we saw some beautiful landscape and lots for us to see and do.

with beds, fan,sockets and tiled floors. Even had attached bathrooms with running hot showers. It was quite a good experience, way more comfortable than we had expected. In Madagascar we chose to stay on Nosy Be, which is in the North East. We chose to splurge a bit and booked ourselves a resort on the beach.

Who did you travel with? My friend and travel companion Sarwat. She and I have visited many countries and we travel well together. She lives and works in Germany so we decide a vacation spot and just meet up there. Where did you stay? In Nairobi and Nakuru we mostly stayed in three star hotels we found online on Tripadvisor. They were pretty good, clean and the food was really good. In Masai Mara for the safari we stayed in beautiful tented camps. They were furnished

What are the best shopping spots there? The only shopping we got to do was in Nairobi most of which was superb. They have these street village and Masai markets which set up stalls in various places around the city. Set up by the Masai tribes people itâ€™s a great place to interact with locals, get local products, handicrafts, leather products, paintings, clothes, handmade jewelry and a lot more. Great shopping for souvenirs and gifts. The leather slippers, printed

wrap skirts and beaded jewelry is not to be missed. Tip for travelers: use your haggling tactics. There are some malls to go to as well, like Junction and Westgate which are nice but it’s nothing you don’t find in any other country. So we didn’t spend a lot of time there.

Tell us about the sights no one should miss out on? Snorkeling in Madagascar. Stunning, especially at low tide. The safari experience in Masai Mara. I would definitely want to do that again.

Finally, any tips? Haggling works really well in the markets so take the time to shop smart. Do not book the safari online, it’ll be way more expensive. There are travel desks at almost all hotels who will give you options to book the safari you prefer. Also if you aren’t used to camping check to see what the camps will be like before you reach and are unhappy with the living situation. If you travel by road to the Masai Mara, keep in mind the journey is long and mostly off road and bumpy. Use all the snorkeling and reef watching opportunities in Madagascar, it’s truly picturesque and affordable. Happy Traveling!

The Tree Top Hotel in Nyeri. Famous for the place the Princess Elizabeth II visited as a Princess and left as Queen. Beautifully constructed on tree tops and around a tree growing right through the lodge. Its rustic and gives a great view for viewing game.

What can you do over there to relax and unwind? The Beach! It was so relaxing and scenic we just couldn’t get enough of it.

Suggest some amazing restaurants there? Madagascar and Kenya has a lot of Indian food on the menu. You can get all the daals, currys, roti, samosas you want. The other option is, of course, all the continental food, pizzas, burgers etc. The only local food we found in Kenya was beans. Tamarind Restaurant was the best Nairobi had to offer. A posh and pricey place but the seafood was awesome.

Suggest some places for a perfect night out? Unfortunately we never left the resort in Madagascar, it was followed by 4 days of safari so we just wanted to relax and do nothing. The Masai Mara camp site provided great nights under the stars, the sky was so clear. Plus the camp generators would go off by 10pm so it was complete darkness, all the more to enjoy gazing. One night during camping we watched the traditional dance of the Masai tribes people after dinner.
