Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood, Pooh and Piglet met for a quiet day together.
Piglet looked down at his toes.
“I’m not sure I have the words for my feelings.”
“Pooh?” asked Piglet. “What does it feel like to be SAD ?”
“Sad,” said Pooh, “can feel a little heavy.
“Like when something you love goes missing. “But after a while, you feel lighter again.”
“What does MAD feel like?” asked Piglet.
“Mad can feel big and buzzy,” Pooh said. “Like spilling your favorite pot of honey.”
“It zooms and bounces inside you . . . until it begins to slow.”
“What about SCARED ?” Piglet asked.
“Scared can feel jumpy,” said Pooh.
“Like a frog springing out of the water, then hip-hopping away again.”
Piglet took a deep breath. In . . . and out.
“What
is this feeling?” he asked.
“Quiet. And still.”
A balloon drifted low across the meadow.
“I think I feel a bit sad today,” Piglet said. “A different sort of sad.”
