Mama Duck looked at the egg in her nest and whispered these words while it lay at rest:
“I love you, my Ducky, and I always will.
Though I haven’t met you, my heart loves you still.”
A mouse scampered up and squeaked, “How can that be?
“How can you love one you can’t even see?”
Mama Duck answered, her voice warm and true,
“Love isn’t measured by what you can view.”
A frog then swam up with a look of great shock.
“How can you love one who can’t even talk?”
“Love doesn’t wait for a quack or a peep. My love for my baby already runs deep.”
A squirrel skipped by with a look of dismay.
“How can you love one who can’t even play?”
“Love isn’t earned by the things we can do. It starts with the heart and always shines through.”
As Mama Duck settled back onto her nest, she felt something wiggle right under her breast.
