About Hollygrove l Pacific Clinic’s 3.5-acre Hollygrove campus has been part of the Los Angeles community since 1880, when it opened as the Los Angeles Orphans Home Society. It has since evolved alongside community needs while remaining rooted in the same neighborhood. l Today, Hollygrove accommodates up to 650 behavioral health visits each year through mental health, wellness, parenting and youth development programs including summer camp and after school tutoring. Over 100 adults and caregivers are served annually through our Family Resource Center. These programs provide a lifeline for families navigating emotional, behavioral and economic challenges. l The neighborhood surrounding Hollygrove in the heart of Hollywood remains one of the most vulnerable census tracts in Los Angeles, with elevated poverty, housing instability, limited English proficiency and extremely limited access to health services. These realities underscore why Hollygrove’s presence, and its future, are critically important. This campaign ensures Hollygrove remains a permanent anchor institution in Hollywood and Los Angeles for the next 150 years.
Our Campus Plan l Our vulnerable service population faces a fragmented care system, forcing people to take time away from jobs and travel miles from home to access critical services. When these barriers are too much to overcome, many forgo help and a preventable crisis becomes life-threatening. l We will transform our Hollygrove campus into a fully integrated, community-based health and wellness hub for serving adults, children and families. The campus will expand our annual impact from 900 clients currently to more than 14,000 people.

David Ono Award -Winning Journalist and ABC7 Anchor
David Ono is the anchor for ABC7 Eyewitness News at 4pm and 6pm, the top-rated newscasts in all of Los Angeles. David joined ABC7 in 1996 and during that time has witnessed history worldwide, covering disasters including the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, the Haiti earthquake, hurricane Katrina, the firestorms in Los Angeles and Maui. David has also covered presidential elections, three Papal conclaves and two royal weddings. He traveled across Europe and Asia chronicling brave acts of the Nisei soldier from World War II, creating an immersive stage show called Defining Courage, selling out theaters across the country including The Kennedy Center, Segerstrom Theater, Palace of Fine Arts, and the historic Hawaii Theater. David has produced multiple award-winning documentaries, two of which have made their way to the Smithsonian Institution. David has won 14 Edward R. Murrow awards, 32 Emmys, was named B&C’s America’s anchor of the year in 2024, and he has been named Journalist of The Year by the LA Press Club multiple times as well as receiving their Lifetime Achievement Award. Ono has also received the Distinguished Journalist Award by the Society of Professional Journalist and was part of a team covering the LA Firestorm winning the prestigious Peabody Award. David is honored to have received Japan’s Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette from the Emperor of Japan. The Jazz Cartel
The Jazz Cartel is a 6-piece band in the style of Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin with an original and contemporary twist. The band was formed in 2012 in trendy Pasadena restaurant Twin Palms by singer, guitarist, composer and band leader Curtis Parry. The Jazz Cartel has played many venues in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, San Diego and New York and is currently a contracted band with Disney to play in Downtown Disney as well as inside Disneyland Park and California Adventure. They have played for special events at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills with celebrities such as Jay Leno, Magic Johnson and Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe. The band released its first album in Oct of 2018 to critical acclaim. The album appropriately entitled “The First Album,” composed and arranged by band leader and singer Curtis Parry, consists of ten original compositions as well as two original arrangements of familiar and beloved songs such as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’s Pure Imagination, and beautiful Italian love song Bella Notte from Disney’s Lady and the Tramp. The band consists of Curtis Parry on vocals and guitar, Jonathan “Fizzo” Frias on upright bass, Shaun Valentine on drums, Kyle O’Donnell on tenor sax, Paul Nowell on trombone, and Carey Frank on organ.

Cl audia Ferri Award -Winning Actress
Claudia Ferri is a longtime advocate for mental health, and the safety and dignity of children and adults, from high school stages to city council floors and concerts for peace, and the multilingual, award-winning actress known for Assassin’s Creed, La Marraine, and Palm Royale. In 2022, she was named Woman of the Year by ACTRA Montreal for her work as an actress and philanthropist, and in 2024 she spoke at the Italian Canadian National Congress’s Women in Cinema event for International Women’s Day. Her lecture on mental health issues “Little Lost Riding Hood: The Syndrome of Growth” is tailored for young adults struggling with anxiety when going from being cared for to assuming the responsibilities of independent living, helping them normalize their experience and come to terms with the fact that change is intrinsic to growth. In March 2022, she co-organized the Concert for Peace at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, partnering with the Korwin-Szymanowski Family Foundation and KBF Canada, raising nearly $180,000 for children and families who are victims of war. Her advocacy is rooted in a simple approach: lead with kindness, dedication, a sense of possibility, and always leave even a small window open for miracles. Unaware she was born with significant hereditary hearing loss until her early fifties, she became a committed voice for early-diagnosis awareness. In her own words: “I want to help people reconnect with their sense of wonderment, of possibility, and their dignity through the elevation of others’ gifts, kindness, storytelling, and the way I choose to move through the world.” Claudia brings this same belief in kindness and human dignity to her work as an actress. Her four-decade, multilingual career has spanned television, film, and theatre in the United States, Canada, and internationally, voicing multiple characters across the global Assassin’s Creed franchise, the title role of “The Godmother” in La Marraine, and most recently starring as Raquel Kimberly-Marco in Apple TV+’s Palm Royale, alongside Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, Laura Dern, Carol Burnett, and Ricky Martin. The show’s 2026 Emmy-nominated stunt coordinator, Mallory Thompson, is quoted telling The Hollywood Reporter that Ferri and Wiig wanted to perform as much of the physicality themselves as the choreography would allow, so the team built the brawl around what Thompson called “these really great actor reaction moments.”

Never before has there been an artist who has been equally recognized, awarded, and celebrated both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, as Paula Abdul. She’s an icon and trailblazer who started her career as a groundbreaking award winning choreographer and then went on to become a recording artist, selling over 60 million records worldwide. With her debut album, Forever Your Girl, she set a record and became the first female artist to achieve four #1 consecutive singles from a debut album. Throughout her illustrious career she has garnered, 5 MTV Video Music Awards, 3 American Music Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, 2 People’s Choice Awards and a GRAMMY. Paula got her first break as the head cheerleader and choreographer for the Los Angeles Lakers. She is credited with taking the traditional movement of cheerleading and infusing it with her own unique dance style, in a way that had never been seen before. During her time with the Lakers, Paula was recruited by top artists, entertainers, directors, and producers in the industry to choreograph music videos, tours, television and film. She’s worked with multi-platinum artists, such as, The Jacksons, Janet Jackson, Duran Duran, Prince, and George Michael to name a few. Paula has also won two Emmys for Outstanding Choreography for the Tracy Ullman Show, as well as winning an Emmy for her opening performance, as an artist, at the American Music Awards, and a nomination for choreographing the 62nd Academy Awards. Her choreography highlights in film include, the Academy Award-winning American Beauty, Coming to America, Jerry McGuire, and Oliver Stone’s The Doors. Besides her record breaking achievements in music and dance, Paula also became a part of television history by joining FOX’s American Idol as one of the original judges. Her time on the show cemented her status as one of the most recognized TV personalities. She then went on to serve as a judge for two seasons on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. Paula Abdul’s influence extends beyond her music and choreography, even after more than 3 decades in the industry, she continues to find new ways to entertain her loyal fans. She has been a significant advocate for women in the dance industry, empowering female dancers to pursue leadership roles and artistic autonomy.
Special recognition to Laura Dern and Diane Ladd
Tonight, we are honored to share a special gift from acclaimed actress Laura Dern in memory of her mother, the late Diane Ladd. Each guest will receive a copy of A Bad Afternoon for a Piece of Cake, Ladd’s collection of ten short stories, reflecting the warmth, wit and distinctive voice she brought to her work as an author as well as to her celebrated career as an actress. We are deeply grateful to Laura Dern for making it possible to share her mother’s words with our guests and for honoring Diane’s special connection to Hollygrove. That connection will continue later this fall when the “Marilyn Mosaic,” an artwork once acquired by Diane Ladd at a Hollygrove gala, returns home to Hollygrove through Laura Dern’s generosity. The mosaic depicts Marilyn Monroe, who spent time at Hollygrove as a child, and is composed of photographs of children from the Hollygrove campus. The piece will ultimately hang in the very room where Norma Jeane once lived, looking out toward the iconic Paramount water tower - a poignant Hollygrove’s history, the children we serve, and Diane Ladd’s legacy.
