2022-2023 ANNUAL REPORT
Dear OYC Miami Supporters, I am thrilled to present our Annual Report for 2022/2023. This year marks a momentous achievement for our organization, as we celebrate 20 years of dedicated service to our community. It is with great pride and gratitude that I share the remarkable achievements and milestones we have reached…TOGETHER! Since 2003, it has been an honor and a pleasure to touch the lives of over 20,000 students, families, adults and community members at large. Twenty years later, we are proud of the many accomplishments that have propelled our community forward. We are grateful to have been of service to our key stakeholders for meaningful reasons. To our parents, we’ve served as an unconditional & trusted system of support. To our students, we’ve served as accountability partners, aunts & uncles, God parents, confidants, and confidence builders.
To our funders, donors, volunteers, partners, community and political leaders, we serve as a vehicle for social, economic, and generational impact. OYC will remain steadfast in our dedication to serving those who rely on us. Our commitment to providing compassionate care, fostering resilience, and empowering individuals and families remains at the core of everything we do. Providing high quality services that bring about positive change, having a ripple effect that will last for generations to come, will be the hallmark of our success. As we celebrate such a significant milestone in total humility, CHEERS to each and every one of you who have played a role in our journey. Together, we have achieved pinnacle moments, and I am confident that our collective efforts will continue. In service and with heartfelt appreciation,
To our young adults, we’ve served as cheerleaders throughout their college and career journeys. To our alumni, we served as their life coaches, mentors, and for many…. their EMPLOYER.
2
To our families and our community, we served as a place of refuge and as navigators; inspiring hope throughout the complexities of socio-economic disparities.

I joined Honey Shine because I thought it would be fun
Honey Shine has a mission to encourage the balancing of mind, body, and soul in girls and women by providing nurturing experiences that enlighten their paths and empower their future.
to be in an afterschool club just for girls. The more I went the more I realized that it wasn’t just any kind of club, it was a club unlike any, as Honey Shine is a place where I felt welcomed, valued and encouraged. I started living with my grandparents more than 5 years ago, after my mom and dad left me on the streets. My parents were always fighting and arguing, and things got tough. During this time, it was hard to make friends and trust. At Honey Shine, I get to freely express myself. There is not any expectation of perfection, and you never feel judged. What I love the most about Honey Shine is the staff. The staff is always supportive, funny and nice. Ms. Collins always listens to me and makes me feel safe and heard. I am so thankful for Honey Shine, I do not know what I would do without Honey Shine and the other Honey Bugs.
