CREATE YOUR CUSTOMIZED TABLEWARE

STUDIO RAW

YOUR CUSTOMIZED TABLEWARE

Exclusive tableware that seamlessly matches your dishes? This is possible at Studio RAW. Design your signature tableware collection in only three steps.

Studio RAW is an in-house production studio for tailored, handmade tableware. It represents craftsmanship and handmade, ground-breaking creativity. Studio RAW is all about the freedom to bring your own ideas to life. The studio functions as a creative centre where new innovative concepts, glazes and finishes are being developed under the guidance of Martin Blommaert, ceramic technician and chief designer.

TAILOR-MADE TABLEWARE

Creating a dish goes hand in hand with the right tableware. You can have your own signature line of tableware developed in only three simple steps:

1. Choose your shape.

2. Choose your glazing option and glazes.

3. Place your order.

THE ART OF GLAZING

THE FINE ART OF GLAZING IS MASTERED IN THE STUDIO, MEANING GLAZES ARE ONLY APPLIED BY HAND. WE USE SPECIAL TECHNIQUES SUCH AS CENTRE APPLICATION, HAND BRUSH APPLICATION AND GLAZE MIXING. MANY OF THE SPECIAL GLAZES THAT WE OFFER AT STUDIO RAW CANNOT BE PRODUCED IN BIG INDUSTRIAL KILNS BECAUSE OF THE REQUIRED COMPLEX TEMPERATURE PROGRAMS. THIS MEANS THAT OUR HANDMADE TABLEWARE CANNOT BE REPRODUCED ON A BIG SCALE BY MASS PRODUCTION FACILITIES.

All of our products are entirely handmade from the beginning till the end. The beauty of handmade items is to be found in the imperfections resulting from various factors.

Each item truly has its own character. We are proud to be able to guarantee that every single item that is produced in our studio is handmade and unique!

CENTRE APPLICATION

This special technique is mastered by our ceramic technician and can only be done by hand.

SPRAY BOOTH

We master different spraying techniques to achieve thicker or thinner layers.

MIXING GLAZES

We mix different ingredients to create our own unique glazes.

THE ART OF GLAZING

BRUSH APPLICATION

Some glazes can only be applied with a special brush technique.

CHIPPED EDGES

Chipped edges are glazed and brushed by hand.

PRODUCT CARE

Porcelain

All of our porcelain is safe to be used in commercial dishwashers and ovens. The products in metallic on page 56, 61, 63, 100 and 103 and the gold products on page 67 cannot be used in the microwave. It is important to follow the guidelines of the dishwasher manufacturer. High temperatures or use of detergent may cause damage to the glaze. Most damages occur when placing dishes in or removing them from the dishwasher. It is recommended to use a dishwasher basket to prevent contact with other items. When removing food of items, a plastic scraper should be used to prevent damage. Never use metal objects or cutlery. Cutlery and other metal objects, for example pans, should never be washed simultaneously as this may cause metal marking. Remove metal markings with a soft abrasive or use our porcelain cleanser.

Vulcanic glazing

Wrinkling, bumping, or applying heavy pressure to objects may cause volcanic glaze flakes to form. Always check the plates for flakes before use. Due to potential health risks, these flakes are not suitable for eating. Volcanic glazing is purely decorative and is not intended for eating or cutting. Do not serve food on the volcanic glaze. These plates should ideally be washed and cleaned in an industrial dishwasher.

Glass

Our range of glassware is designed to be washed in commercial dishwashers. To ensure the lasting quality of the product we recommend the following:

• All new glasses should be washed before first use. We recommend the use of dishwasher baskets to minimize the risk of breakage. Glassware should not be washed at temperatures above 60°C as this can cause debris to be baked onto the glasses during the washing process. Noncaustic detergents should be used as caustic detergents can damage and dull the surface of the glass.

• To extend the life of glasses for hot drinks we recommend preheating the glasses by running them under hot water. Do not put cold liquids straight into glassware that may be hot or warm as this can cause cracks.

USER INFORMATION:

Our products are crafted from hand-blown glass, making each piece unique and handmade. Please note the following guidelines for use:

• Do not cut on these dishes

• The bowls can be used for hot dishes, provided the temperature difference does not exceed 50 degrees Celsius

Product information: all measurements are provided in milliliters and are taken up to the brim of the product.

Cutlery

Occasionally it occurs that new cutlery, after the first use, gets stained and/or leaves metalmarking on tableware. These symptoms are usually caused by the handling of the cutlery. All 18/10 cutlery, whatever brand or price, is made of the same type of steel. On old, scratched and tarnished cutlery, these phenomena are less visible, but with new cutlery they are even more visible. Below we will give some tips on the product care of your cutlery, for the prevention of stains on the cutlery and the prevention of metalmarking on tableware. Before first using cutlery: Wash the cutlery by hand before first use. During the final processes, the cutlery gets polished in the factory. This gets done with gloss polish. Many of the polish disappears during polishing, however, it may occur that some of the polish remains behind on the inside of the point of the forks and/or cutting surfaces of the knives. It is important to wash it off before it comes in contact with aluminum, stainless steel or certain substances in dishwashing detergents. When it gets in contact with these materials it can cause a chemical reaction that will leave rust or blue tarnish on the steel. When the cutlery is immediately put into use (withouth first having washed it by hand) metalmarking may occur on the dishes.

General tips:

• Remove food residues, especially at the beginning, from the cutlery as soon as possible

• It is prefered not to put cutlery in the dishwasher with stainless steel or aluminum items. By electrolysis* stains or dots can occur on the cutlery.

Do not soak cutlery.

• Keep the knives separate of the other cutlery in the dishwasher.

• Place the knives upright in the basket of the dishwasher. Do not wash cutlery with chlorine or other aggressive product in case of extreme soiling.

• Dry and polish the cutlery immediatly after dishwashing.

* Electrolysis: ‘poor’ metallic succumb to noble metal
