Just like much of the Valley and Ventura County, The Ojai Valley Land Conservancy’s (OVLC) Preserves were affected by the recent winter storms. Preliminary field surveys have revealed isolated damage to some recreational trails and streamside habitat. “In San Antonio Creek and along the Ventura River, water has changed the landscape in significant ways,” explains Preserve Manager Rich Handley.

“Boulders, topsoil and trees are gone in many places, but overall the Preserves seem to have weathered the onslaught of rushing flood waters.” The Ventura RiverRancho El Nido Preserve was temporarily closed in January and certain areas will remain off-limits to the public through spring. For your safety, please check with Conservancy staff before planning a visit and read all information posted at trailheads and throughout the Conservancy’s trail system.
