Spring is in the Air!
As we welcome the fresh energy of spring, it’s been a wonderful time to reflect on the vibrant spirit of our community and the exciting season ahead. Spring at Esplanade always brings renewed activity, beautiful weather, and more opportunities to connect, gather, and enjoy the lifestyle that makes our community so special.
Earlier this season, we were pleased to welcome two key team members who have already helped enhance your Esplanade experience. Our Food & Beverage Manager, Tina Bird, joined us and brought fresh ideas and energy to the Toasted Café. You may have noticed a continued focus on quality, creativity, and service as new menu features were introduced, and offerings were refined to better serve our Members.
We also welcomed our Lifestyle Manager, Monique Seraphin who has been expanding programs, events, and social opportunities throughout the community. From Signature Events to interest groups and wellness offerings, the goal has been to create experiences that bring neighbors together and make every season memorable.
Another highlight this season has been the dedication of our Member volunteer group, The Petal Pushers Guild, who have been working hard to complete Phase 1 of the community Butterfly Garden. Their efforts are a wonderful example of the pride and involvement that makes our community so special. We encourage other Members to get involved as well — whether by joining an interest group or serving on a committee, there are many ways to connect and make a positive impact.
As our team and community initiatives continue to grow, our commitment remains the same: to provide our Members with the very best Esplanade Lifestyle — thoughtful amenities, engaging activities, and a welcoming environment where everyone feels at home.

Hi, I’m Jordan—a lifelong learner, morning runner, and bookworm who loves mysteries, romances, and historical dramas. The Giver is one of my all-time favorites because I enjoy stories that make you think and feel. I start most mornings running at sunrise, which gives me a clear mind and fresh perspective.
Over the past year, I’ve been teaching K–8 students and now continue my passion for growth and connection at Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch. When I’m not reading or working, I enjoy relaxing with a good movie or show—though I probably analyze the plot a little too much. I’m always excited to meet new people, share ideas, and keep learning together.

We’re proud Members of Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch since October 2024. Our home is happily shared with two special rescue cats: Pawl, a three-year-old black-and-white tuxedo with “retired Florida grandpa” energy, and Callie, our playful nine-month-old Calico kitten.
Pawl joined us after a meaningful road trip from Ohio, marking a healing new chapter following the loss of several beloved pets. Calm, gentle, and affectionate, he answers to both Pawl and “Paulie,” while Callie brings endless curiosity, enthusiasm, and nighttime cuddles, sleeping under the covers with her momma every night.
Together, Pawl and Callie have become the heart of our home. Their bond and steady presence paired with their joyful energy fill our days with comfort and laughter. They love spending time on our screened lanai, watching birds and soaking up the Florida sunshine, and are currently welcoming a new puppy sister, Pepper, whom we’re fostering with plans to adopt soon.
From peaceful lanai mornings to cozy evenings, they bring warmth, companionship, and happiness to our everyday lives.

Why did you choose Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch?
We were looking for an active 55+ community in the Tampa area. After exploring options both north and south of Tampa, we chose Esplanade, especially after meeting some existing neighbors who have since become true friends. During the building process, we also formed friendships with our future immediate neighbors, and our street has turned out exactly as we envisioned. Finally, Cheryl from the purchase office made the entire process easy and exciting, even though we were out of state throughout the purchase.
What Lifestyle programming are you most interested in?
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important to us, so we are especially drawn to the health and wellness programs. We both work out four to five times a week and take full advantage of the fitness programs sponsored by Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch. Dominic and his energetic, dynamic team do a superb job of developing a wide range of fitness programming to suit every fitness level.
What are your hobbies?
As you’ve probably already guessed, fitness is one of our hobbies. We also enjoy reading, watching sports, meeting new people, and traveling.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received or given?
Prayer works, love endures, giving without expectation brings fulfillment, and true friendships last.
Tell us something about yourselves that may surprise people.
We’ve been married for 40 years! Theresa once met Muhammad Ali, and Mike has officiated a wedding ceremony. Together, Mike and Theresa have a combined 50 years of federal public service. In addition to her non-federal career, Theresa has 10 years of federal
public service and is a retired federal civil servant. Mike has 40 years of combined military and federal service, including 22 years as a U.S. Army officer and 18 years as a federal civil servant.
Where’s the most exciting place you’ve traveled to?
That’s difficult to answer, as every place we’ve visited has left a unique and lasting impression on us. We were especially blessed to live in Germany for three years. Our travels have taken us to Great Britain, Holland, Luxembourg, France, St. Lucia, the Bahamas, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Puerto Rico, Alaska, and more. Mike has also traveled to Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Hungary, Bosnia, and Croatia. Looking ahead, we have plans to visit Dubai and South Africa in 2026.
