YOUR RESORT MANAGER
If you’ve spent any time in Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch, chances are you’ve met Nikki Carroll, our Resort Manager. Known for her approachable personality, dedication to the community, and passion for helping others, Nikki brings more than 20 years of industry experience to her role.
Originally from Spotsylvania, Virginia, Nikki relocated to the Tampa Bay area in 2013. She enjoys everything Florida has to offer, from beaches and hiking trails to kayaking and exploring the state’s beautiful natural springs. She also loves being close to the many events, restaurants, and attractions throughout Tampa and St. Petersburg.
Nikki’s career in community association management began during her senior year of high school as an Administrative Assistant. Over the years, she advanced through a variety of roles, eventually managing large resort-style communities in both Virginia and Florida. More than two decades later, she remains passionate about creating exceptional experiences for Members and helping communities thrive.
At Esplanade, Nikki most enjoys meeting Members, hearing their incredible life stories, mentoring team members, and serving as a resource for the community. She recently celebrated her two-year anniversary with Esplanade in May and looks forward to continuing to support the community’s growth and success.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures, admiring architecture, hiking, kayaking, and volunteering with organizations such as St. Jude, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, PanCAN, and ALS research initiatives.
When she’s not at work, Nikki enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Stephen, and their two senior pups. This year is especially exciting as they celebrate their 10-year anniversary and prepare for their wedding on October 24, 2026, followed by a honeymoon through Italy, Switzerland and France.
Whether she’s supporting Members, leading her team, or planning her next adventure, Nikki brings enthusiasm, compassion, and dedication to everything she does.

They will be accepting donations of various school supplies benefiting our teachers and students of PASCO County. The drive will run July 3August 7. This is a guided upstream kayaking experience through one of Florida’s most beautiful spring-fed rivers, designed for all skill levels. No prior kayaking experience is required, although participants should be aware it’s moderate activity with consistent paddling throughout the trip, balanced by several relaxing breaks to rest, swim, and enjoy the scenery, plus lunch. This all-inclusive experience is led by personable guides who ensure safety, provide easy-to-follow instruction, and share engaging insights about the river, wildlife, and surrounding environment.

Meet Marlee

Our beautiful girl Marlee was a 17-year-old red Husky mix who was an incredible part of our family for many years. Sadly she passed away at the end of May, and is dearly missed. In remembrance of Marlee, we wanted to share her story.
A fun fact about Marlee is that we came up with her name as a combination of mine and my husband’s middles names, mine is Marie and his is Lee. She absolutely loved her nightly treats. She also used to catch snakes and small animals in our yard — she truly was the protector of everything moving outside!
We came to own Marlee when she was only eight-weeks-old. A friend of ours fostered dogs and reached out to us with a picture of Marlee and her siblings. When we went to meet them, we fell in love with her immediately. She followed us around and pawed at our feet, and it truly felt like love at first sight.
When we brought her home, we introduced her to our other dog. It took a little while for our older dog to warm up to the new puppy, but before long they became inseparable. That’s when we knew our fur family was complete.
Marlee’s favorite things used to be chasing squirrels and lizards, and she absolutely loved fetching a ball. As she got older, she slowed down, but still enjoyed watching all the creatures in the yard and observing my son playing ball outside. She also loved bedtime. Even
though she could no longer jump onto our bed, she still came in every night to say goodnight before heading to her own bed.
Marlee was the sweetest girl and had the most adorable face. We are so grateful for all the love and joy she brought into our lives.

Why did you choose Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch?
AQI was looking for a 55+ community close to Tampa, where I continue to run my Medicare insurance business. I fell in love with Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch. The very first day I visited as a Daycation guest, I met so many new friends at the pickleball courts, and low-impact exercise class. Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch offered exactly what I wanted―a beautiful setting, low-maintenance living, and peace of mind when it comes to home care. I also love the abundance of recreational opportunities and the strong sense of community here.
What lifestyle programming are you most interested in?
Staying active is my top priority. I’m excited to meet new people and explore the many clubs and activities available.
Tennis is my favorite sport, and I also enjoy playing pickleball. I’m especially looking forward to spending time on the courts and connecting with fellow tennis and pickleball enthusiasts.
What are your hobbies?
I play tennis four times a week and enjoy fishing from a boat whenever I can. I also love driving and exploring new areas. Traveling is important to me as well, especially visiting California to spend time with my mom and my daughters.
What’s the best advice you’ve received or given?
Keep both your mind and body active; age is truly just a number. I also believe in giving your very best effort in everything you do.
Tell us something about yourself that may surprise people.
I’ve worked in the finance and insurance industry for decades, and I recently convinced my younger daughter to join me in the Medicare insurance business, which should finally allow me a bit freer time. I am so happy that she decided to leave California to relocate her real estate/ mortgage business to Wesley Chapel. She will help me with my company, which gives me a chance to explore and fall in love with the new area where I plan to stay for the rest of my golden years.
Another fact about me is I was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States in my 20s. I overcame many challenges along the way and went on to become one of the top-producing employees with any company I am with in the Insurance & Financial business.
My name can be confusing to people, but it’s easy to say: Mai Nguyen is pronounced “my win.” I also won Miss Vietnamese Universe in 2023 and had the honor of serving as a judge this year.
Where is the most exciting place you’ve ever traveled to?
One of the most unusual and exciting places I’ve visited is Iceland, especially the beautiful Blue Lagoon. My group did a lot of walking, and I loved experiencing such a unique landscape and culture. I’ve traveled to many countries and lived in several cities throughout Florida—and I truly believe Florida is the best place to be!

Kyoto in Bloom SIGNATURE EVENT
This spring, our Kyoto in Bloom celebration transformed the Lanai and Flex Lawn into a stunning cherry blossom garden, creating a serene and immersive experience right here in Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch. Members enjoyed a beautifully curated evening featuring a live sushi station, a Japanese-inspired buffet, and the powerful rhythms of live Taiko drummers who brought an authentic touch of Japanese culture to the event. The evening was not only a feast for the senses but also an opportunity to come together and experience something truly unique as a community. We ended the night on a high note with music and dancing, making it a memorable celebration of culture, connection, and springtime beauty.

Esplanade Floribbean Summers FASHION SHOW
Our first-ever Floribbean Summers Fashion Show was a stylish success, bringing tropical flair to Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch. Members took center stage as models, showcasing chic summer fashions provided by Dillard’s. Lush palm trees and vibrant florals transformed The Venue into a true Floribbean-inspired setting. Guests enjoyed light refreshments while taking in the show and later shopped an exclusive Dillard’s pop-up featuring looks from the runway. From fashion to fun, the afternoon celebrated style, community, and summer spirit. The event brought neighbors together for a memorable experience and quickly became a standout celebration we’ll be talking about for seasons to come.

At Toasted Café, we continue to grow, and we’re incredibly grateful to all of our Members and guests for their ongoing support. Your loyalty and enthusiasm have helped make our café a welcoming place for the community to gather, relax, and enjoy great food. As we look ahead to summer, we’re excited to introduce both returning favorites and new menu additions. Guests can look forward to warm pretzel bites served with beer cheese dip, an assortment of bagels, select pastry options, our flavorful chicken quesadilla, and the overwhelmingly popular Italian panini that continues to be a customer favorite.
