Letter From the Lifestyle Team DAVID TOWNSEND YOUR LIFESTYLE MANAGER

It’s Fall Y’all! A year ago when I stepped into this role as the Lifestyle Manager for Esplanade at Westview I was blown away by how quickly I was welcomed into the community and as I look back at the last 12 months I continue to be blown away by how the community has grown and continues to welcome new Members to the family each and every month. Last year I wrote about how we had been given the opportunity in forming a new community to create new traditions and as we approach our second holiday season together, we now get to revitalize some of those we established and create some more! We now have some of our community led interest groups becoming active within EAW and I encourage you to join in the fun. We, of course, have plenty of amazing events planned as we head into the “spooky season” but probably most importantly is the Pickleball Charity Event – PICKLED PINK – where our Members will compete against Members from the other Orlando Region Esplanade locations. So it’s time to join in the pickleball lessons and brush up on those skills so that you can represent Esplanade at Westview. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or suggestions you may have, and I look forward to seeing you at our next event!

PET FEATURE / GET INVOLVED

Furry Friends Tartaletta & Tartuffita LOVED BY CAMI & PAOLO MARIANI

This edition’s installment of “Furry Friends” are two of the newest additions to Esplanade at Westview and are best described as “Not-So-Furry Friends.” Meet Tartaletta and Tartuffita, the dynamic yellow-bellied duo from Southwest Florida. They waddled into their parents’ backyard, took a daring dip in their pool, and thought, “Hey, this is like a salty spa day!” Little did they know, the salt could have turned the pair into crispy critters. But hey, they’re not ones to learn from their mistakes! Tartaletta and Tartuffita are still salt pool aficionados and would make a break for it if they could. In their downtime, you can find the turtles doing synchronized swimming in our private ozonated pool, getting back scratches under the waterfall, or having a gourmet feast of shrimp and turtle kibble on their bench. They couldn’t be happier in our new home, where every day is a splash-tacular adventure!

Boo’d

October 4 - 30

The Lifestyle team is kicking off the spooky season with a fun tradition of surprise treat baskets and Halloween cheer! To participate, register with your Lifestyle Manager and receive a door hanger to indicate your participation. When you’re boo’d (receive a basket), pass it on and “boo” another neighbor who has their door hanger on display to keep the fun going. Avoid dropping baskets too late at night and skip the chocolate. Snap a photo and send it to your Lifestyle Manager!

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT / COMMUNITY STEWARDSHIP

Cesar & Patricia Gomez The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.

C

esar and Patricia are Colombian and come from the coffeegrowing region, where the smoothest coffee in the world is produced. They are the proud parents of their son, Alejandro. After working for many years in the financial sector, they have both retired. Even so, Cesar currently serves as the owner-manager of a hotel in the region where they’re from, and he is also president of the chamber of commerce for eastern Caldas. Patricia currently works as a financial planner for a foreign holding company. They love to travel and experience different cultures. Cesar enjoys spending his time on mental agility games, while Patricia loves general knowledge trivia contests.

They came to Esplanade after years of dreaming about finding a vacation spot here in Florida, since Cesar loves the state of Florida. After much searching, they decided that Esplanade best suited both their needs and their financial situation. They’re happy because they consider it a wonderful place for peace and quiet, and for coming occasionally on vacation. What they love most are their neighbors, who come from all over the world, and the warmth they share with them. They want to congratulate David for the excellent work he does in fostering better integration and well-being for the Esplanade community.

WELLNESS

Creative Ways to Stay Fit During the Hot Months

W

hen temperatures soar, it can be tempting to put your fitness routine on hold. However, staying active is important for maintaining strength, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being. The good news is that with a little creativity, you can continue working toward your fitness goals while staying cool and comfortable. One of the best ways to beat the heat is by taking your workouts indoors. Local recreation centers, fitness facilities, and community centers often offer group exercise classes such as yoga, Pilates, dance fitness, and strength training. These classes provide a comfortable, climate-controlled environment while allowing you to stay active and socially connected.

can also make exercise more enjoyable and help keep you motivated. Technology offers new opportunities to stay active from the comfort of home. Fitness apps, online exercise videos, and virtual classes allow you to participate in a variety of workouts ranging from stretching and balance exercises to strength training and cardio sessions. Many programs are designed specifically for active adults and can be adapted to different fitness levels. For those looking to add variety to their routine, try activities that combine fitness with fun. Dancing, pickleball, indoor cycling, bowling, gardening, and even active video games can help improve fitness while keeping exercise enjoyable. When physical activity feels like a hobby rather than a workout, it becomes easier to stay consistent.

Water-based activities are another excellent option during the summer months. Swimming, water aerobics, and aquatic walking provide a full-body workout while placing less stress on the joints. The cooling effect of the water also helps prevent overheating, making it easier to exercise for longer periods.

Remember to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and listen to your body when exercising in warm weather. If you choose to exercise outdoors, seek shaded areas, take frequent breaks, and avoid the hottest part of the day.

If you enjoy walking, consider shifting your routine to the early morning or evening hours when temperatures are lower. Exploring shaded trails, indoor shopping malls, museums, or community centers can provide a change of scenery while helping you accumulate steps in a cooler environment. Walking with a friend or joining a walking club

Summer heat doesn’t have to derail your fitness goals. By exploring new activities, moving indoors when necessary, and finding creative ways to stay active, you can maintain your fitness routine, protect your health, and enjoy an active lifestyle all season long. The key is to stay moving, stay cool, and most importantly, have fun while doing it.
