Almost halfway through 2026 already? How did this happen, you ask? It’s the age-old adage, “time flies when you’re having fun,” that’s how! And, the fun continues as we rocket toward the second half of 2026!
As our community continues to grow, I would like to send a special invitation to our Members that have an interest in creating a Member-led social club. If you enjoy a particular pass-time and want to find others with a similar interest, this is a great way to do just that. Whether it’s poker, mahjong, D&D, bunco or book club, there are worlds of fun to be had! If you would like to start a club or interest group, please reach out to me for further assistance.
May and June are filled with so many things to celebrate. At Westview, we not only say thank you to our moms and dads this Mother’s and Father’s day but we also get to celebrate Star Wars Day (May the ‘Fourth’ Be with You), Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day, and the start of summer. We will also be hosting our
first Signature Event in May and hope you can join us for that.
I’d like to kindly remind everyone of the importance of both registering for activities and sending a quick email to cancel any registrations if you are no longer able to attend. This allows us to accurately anticipate total attendance and ensure the most enjoyable Lifestyle programming for our Members. To this end you will notice that some of our more popular events will start having limited availability, and we encourage Members to sign up for specific events that they will be attending – not just signing up for everything.

Furry Friends Cooper
LOVED BY DAWN ANN KAMPEN
Cooper is a delightful four-legged mixture of Chihuahua, Dachshund, Miniature Pinscher, Poodle, Pekingese, and a couple of Terriers— truly a mutt. His exact age remains a mystery, and after much guesswork and three completely different ages given, Mom settled on giving him an official birthday of April 11, 2019. Mom first spotted him on the Humane Society’s website, rushed over to meet him, and was promptly told she could take him home for a “trial weekend.” She had no supplies, no plan, and no idea what would happen… but Cooper did. That very first night, he hopped into the bed, nudged Mom’s hand to lift the covers, and tucked himself in like he’d lived there forever. His shelter name was Dobby—possibly his real name, possibly inspired by his house elf vibes—so he now proudly uses it as his middle name.
Though he has no siblings at home, modern science had other surprises. Thanks to an Embark DNA test, long-lost kin has begun popping up—in California. Mom is now thinking he may have started life there and somehow made his way to Louisiana so she could find him. Cooper has perfected the art of relaxation. His greatest passion in life is napping professionally while Mom works, offering moral support in the form of light snoring. But when evening rolls around, bedtime becomes the highlight of the day. If she dares stay up too late, he transforms into a tiny hall monitor, pacing the floor like, “Excuse me? The schedule? The routine?”
On walks, he leads the charge up driveways just to collect pets from neighbors—a true community outreach specialist. He loves meeting people and other dogs—sometimes a little shy at first, but
always eager to make a new friend. Now, Cooper is a sweetheart— truly—but separation from Mom is absolutely unacceptable. In his ongoing campaign against being left alone, he has decorated the door with scratches and added tasteful tooth shaped accents to the blinds. He rarely gets reprimanded, though. For someone who knows approximately zero commands, he’s surprisingly well behaved… or at least charming enough to get away with it. His best qualities shine in everything he does: he’s sweet, he’s friendly, and he firmly believes that cheese is the finest delicacy.

John and Sharon Hintz are from Lake in the Hills, Illinois, a far northwest suburb of Chicago, and they could not wait to get away from the cold weather! Their initial plan was to move to Florida many years from now, but John had already retired young, and their adult children (Johnny, 26, is a CPA living in Chicago and Amanda, 22, is a senior at The Ohio State University) were both away from home “living their best lives,” so when Sharon’s position was eliminated, the timeline moved up and here they are.
After searching multiple places with their Realtor, Sharon said that Esplanade at Westview was the perfect answer with a great location, beautiful homes, and the amenities and activities they were looking for, but without age restrictions.
John and Sharon have been part of this community since the early days even though they have only recently closed on their house and officially moved into Esplanade at Westview. While their home was building, they spent a year in a COZY one-bedroom apartment in Kissimmee, Sharon described this apartment as “really small,” so they had a lot of “together time,” which has made the space of their new home even more magical.
John and Sharon love the Disney and Universal parks and can be found visiting for just a few hours here and there to enjoy the “atmousephere.” If you are someone who joins in on the Esplanade Events you are sure to recognize them as being regulars and always ready to get the most out of the Esplanade Experience.
