As we welcome May and June, our community begins to settle into the rhythm of early summer.
The longer, sun-filled days and warmer evenings create the perfect backdrop for getting outside, connecting with neighbors, and enjoying all that this vibrant season has to offer.
This time of year, often brings a sense of ease and enjoyment—whether it’s relaxing by the pool, attending community events, or simply taking a quiet evening stroll. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make the most of the amenities around us and the friendships that continue to grow within our neighborhood.
We are also excited to welcome our new Administrative Assistant/Concierge, Oriana, to the community team! Oriana will be a friendly and helpful presence, assisting with Member needs, communications, and day-to-day support around
the community. If you see her around, please be sure to say hello and join us in giving her a warm welcome.
With summer just around the corner, we also look forward to the return of pool season and more opportunities to gather, unwind, and create lasting memories together. Be sure to keep an eye on upcoming communications for events and activities planned in the months ahead—we have a fun and engaging season in store!

Stiff to Strong Strength & Balance for Active Adults
Wednesdays & Fridays in May at 9 a.m. (Except May 22) & Saturday, May 23 at 10 a.m.
The Venue
Join local strength coach David McRae for a special class designed to help adults (55+) improve strength, balance, mobility, and confidence in everyday movement. This class focuses on practical exercises that help build real-world strength like getting up from chairs, climbing stairs, maintaining balance, and staying active and independent. Participants in David’s program saw major improvements in lowerbody strength, balance, and overall confidence in their movement. No previous experience is required, and all fitness levels are welcome.

My name is Oriana, but you guys can call me Ori. I’m originally from Venezuela and just moved from Florida to North Carolina one year ago. I love working with people, conversing, and learning new things. I have worked in hospitality for some years now, and it is one of my favorite industries. I like being part of a place where I can help anywhere it’s needed. A fun fact about me is that I dream of becoming an attorney just like my mom, and among my many hobbies, traveling and going to concerts are at the top of my list of things I enjoy most. I am super excited to get to know you guys and be a part of the team at Esplanade at Northgate!

In the winter of 2024, someone found two adorable kittens wandering the streets of Waxhaw and brought them to the local animal hospital. The vet checked them out and said they were healthy, so they went to foster care. They were with lots of other cats, but these two were inseparable. Wherever one went, the other followed.
Then, in December 2025, I received an email from an online pet adoption agency. They had two young, bonded adolescent cats in need of a loving home, and one of them was deaf. Meet Rose (tuxedo cat) and Blanche. We have been happily bonding with our new mom and dad, and playing with all our toys. Oh, and we sleep a lot too.

What Lifestyle programs are you most interested in?
When it comes to Lifestyle programs, we especially enjoy the meetand-greets, but our absolute favorite is Wine Around the World.
Tell us about your family/pets and your current or past professions. Oliver is a veteran who retired after 30 years of service in law enforcement, and Trina is a healthcare professional. Our family is complete with four children, seven grandchildren, and our dog Bronco, who absolutely adores his new home at Esplanade at Northgate.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received or given?
The best advice is to start each day with a sense of gratitude, knowing that even the smallest acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day and make the world a better place.
Where is the most exciting place you’ve traveled to and what made it so memorable?
We’ve traveled to some amazing places, but Hawaii holds a special place in our hearts. We even renewed our vows for our 10-year anniversary in Kauai, HI.

Members enjoyed an unforgettable evening as our National Director of Food, Beverage & Culinary Experience, Patrick Scully, brought the vibrant flavors of Brazil to life. It was a wonderful opportunity to gather, learn something new, and savor the rich culture of Brazilian cuisine together.

Sweetheart Bingo brought Members together for an evening full of fun, friendly competition, and a touch of romance. With exciting prizes and plenty of laughter, the event created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to mix, mingle, and make lasting memories
Luck was in the air at our St. Paddy’s Day Yappy Hour! Members and their furry friends gathered for a festive celebration, complete with themed treats and plenty of wagging tails. Special guest Spud stole the show, making it a paw-sitively delightful afternoon for all who attended.

Through her work, she has crafted experiences that celebrate nourishment, creativity, and the belief that healthy eating should always feel exciting and accessible.
