Spring is in the Air!
As March and April arrive, our community begins to awaken with the energy of spring. Longer days, fresh blooms, and warmer weather invite us outdoors and set the stage for renewed connections and active living. It’s a perfect time to refresh routines, explore new activities, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being together.
We encourage you to take part in all that the season has to offer, whether it’s joining a fitness class, enjoying a walk through the neighborhood, or gathering with friends for a spring social event. With a full calendar of programs and opportunities to engage, these months offer a wonderful chance to reconnect, recharge, and make the most of life in our community.
We hope everyone enjoyed the Lodge Tour back in February! It was a great day filled with sneak peaks of what’s to come! The Lodge opening will be such a fantastic milestone here at Esplanade at Madeira Ranch – we thank everyone for coming along with us in this journey.
In November, Esplanade hosted a Thanksgiving Food Drive. We donated canned food and goods to the Elk Grove Food Bank, who has been serving our community for over 50 years. Members gathered all sorts of goods to pass on to those in need during the holiday season.

Meet Ruby & Penny
LOVED BY BUD & CHRISTY HANNAN
Ruby (aka Ruby Tuesday) and Penny (aka Penny Lane) are Golden Retrievers. They will be eight years old on June 1, 2026. They are sisters and were the only two girls in a litter of eight. They have been, by all appearances, happy members of the Esplanade community since November 2024. This, despite the many intrusions on the part of doorbells, delivery of packages, and of course the sounds and sights of Taylor Morrisson construction activity.
They are always enthusiastic when they are invited to go for walks. This has remained true, even though at first, they had the fields (circled by Evangaline Way) pretty much to themselves. As homes began to rise, they continued to embrace any invitations to greet the neighborhood. Ruby takes the lead in saying hello to neighbors. Penny may remain at a respectable distance, until she sees her sister cash in on the loving.
The pickleball courts are a favorite spot to visit. The folks there are always glad to say hello to them. Ruby seems to enjoy laughing when she sees her “dad” playing pickleball. He can’t be sure if she is laughing with him, or at him. Penny keeps her eye on the pickleball itself! In addition, they love to visit the folks in the Café on weekends. (It is not all about whipped cream.)
You can trust that they will be very appreciative of the new dog park when it is established at Esplanade Lodge. We will see what Penny is capable of when she is literally “unleashed.” Ruby will take a more casual approach; though she may surprise us when she comes back with the ball! Both will enjoy running with the pack and continually making new friends, as their owners enjoy events and pickleball!
Paul & Melody Zisser
The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. Paul and Melody Zisser are some of the first 20 Members to move into Esplanade at Madeira Ranch. They arrived here by way of Concord, California. They are newlyweds of almost two years; originally from New York and Manila. Once they were married, they knew it was time to make some changes. Melody retired from her job as PR Director for a large mall in Manila, and Paul retired from his position as software engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area. The next big change was to relocate to a home that was truly theirs. After much searching in Northern California, they found that forever home here.
They can be found enjoying the many activities available, including pickleball, dancing, karaoke, wine and beer tours, and most of all, making new friends. Melody keeps herself busy as an online influencer for various health and beauty products as well as fragrances and skin care. Often, you will find Paul tinkering in his garage working on one of his vintage Honda motorcycles or playing tennis. If you hear a lot of barking on their street, you can be sure it’s one of their three Shih-Tzu fur babies roaming around the backyard.

These gatherings are about more than just activities, they’re about laughter, connection, and building friendships that make our community feel like home. Members took a field trip to Midtown Sacramento to enjoy the arts during a showing of “Christmas Story,” while enjoying happy hour as well.
Paint and Sip NIGHT
Paint and Sip Night is always a hit, especially during the holiday season! Members enjoyed our instructor-led class, along with different food options made by Chef Flo.
Snow Glow HOLIDAY WALK
We got together one more time before Christmas and enjoyed a Snow Glow Holiday Walk, where we walked around and enjoyed different Christmas decorations, all while wearing fun festive clothing. We came back and enjoyed some holiday treats together.

This restorative session will guide you through gentle stretching, increase body awareness, provide tools for releasing tension, and open pathways to stillness and rejuvenation. Please arrive 10 minutes early to obtain a great spot. Please bring a yoga mat, a fitness towel, and a bottle of water for yourself. The max for each class is eight people.

Light, bright, and full of seasonal flavor, this refreshing spring salad celebrates crisp greens, tender vegetables, and a zesty citrus vinaigrette. It’s perfect as a starter or a vibrant side dish.
