Ken Dampier YOUR MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
K
en is excited to be settling into his role at Esplanade by the Islands as the new Maintenance Supervisor. He brings more than 30 years of experience in maintenance, construction, and facility operations. Throughout his career, Ken has built a reputation for hands-on leadership, problem-solving, and a commitment to keeping communities running at their best. His experience includes managing a motorcoach resort for eight years and overseeing maintenance operations at a private club in Naples for 15 years, giving him a deep understanding of both community- and Member-focused environments. In addition to his extensive maintenance background, Ken holds a Public Health Pest Control License, with specialized expertise in mosquito control and environmental management. Most recently, he worked alongside the City of Everglades on underground infrastructure installation and repair projects, further expanding the diverse skill set he brings to our community. While Ken’s professional accomplishments are impressive, it’s his dedication to family that truly defines him. He and his wife, Temple, call Everglades City home, where they have built a life centered around family, the outdoors, and the unique beauty of Southwest Florida. Together with their son, Trenton, they enjoy spending time on the water, whether boating, saltwater fishing, or exploring the breathtaking waterways and mangrove islands that make up Florida’s famed Ten Thousand Islands.

You might confuse monarch butterflies with other orange and black butterflies—the viceroy, and the queen butterfly. Learn to tell the difference and ways you can help monarchs and other butterflies year-round! Furry Friends Meet Bella
LOVED BY MIKE & BRENDA WALKER Bella, the beloved six-year-old pup of Mike and Brenda Walker, has been bringing smiles since joining their family in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. At a time when comfort and companionship were especially welcome, Bella quickly filled their home with joy, love, and plenty of tail wags. While many know her as part of the Goldendoodle family, Bella is officially an English Doodle, with an English Retriever mother and Miniature Poodle father. From the moment she met her family, Bella formed an instant bond and was happiest cuddled up beside them. Although her first car ride home was memorable for all the wrong reasons thanks to a bout of carsickness, she has since put those days behind her. Today, her preferred mode of transportation is riding shotgun in the family golf cart as she cruises the community in style. Bella also loves her daily neighborhood walks, especially when there is wildlife to investigate. Rabbits are a favorite fascination, and with plenty hopping around the community, a simple stroll can quickly turn into a playful adventure. Known as the friendliest dog her family has ever owned, Bella never misses an opportunity to greet neighbors or make a new canine friend. Her gentle nature is just as remarkable as her curiosity. She seems to sense when someone needs a little extra comfort and is quick to offer quiet companionship, proving that sometimes the best therapy comes with four paws and a wagging tail.
Duck jerky tops Bella’s list of favorite treats, but nothing beats time with her family. Her half-sister, Bailey, who belongs to the Walkers’ daughter, is her best friend and favorite playmate. Bella’s story also includes a chapter of motherhood. Because her breeder adored her wonderful temperament, her adoption agreement included one litter, and Bella went on to welcome eight puppies: four boys and four girls! Six years after arriving in her forever home, Bella remains loving, loyal, and endlessly friendly. Whether she’s greeting neighbors, enjoying a golf cart ride, keeping an eye out for rabbits, or simply relaxing with her family, Bella continues to make every day a little brighter. Her sweet nature and playful curiosity have made her a beloved part of the Walker family and a familiar four-legged face around the community.

Our youngest Members enjoyed a memorable evening of laughter, creativity, and connection at our recent Kids’ Night Out event. The night was filled with exciting games, hands-on karaoke fun, and a themed craft that inspired creativity and imagination. Participants also enjoyed plenty of sweet treats while gathering for a familyfriendly movie to end the evening. From making new friends to creating lasting memories, the event provided a welcoming space where children could play, sing, and enjoy an evening designed just for them.
We celebrated National Bingo Day with a fun-filled game packed with laughter, friendly competition, and great Bingo-themed prizes. Participants enjoyed coming together, testing their luck, and sharing in the excitement of each round. With plenty of winners, smiles, and opportunities to socialize, the event was a fantastic success and a wonderful way to bring everyone together for an hour of bingo fun.

Our Red, White & Vroom Golf Cart Parade was a patriotic convoy that gave Members the chance to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in style. Participants proudly decorated their golf carts in festive red, white, and blue and cruised through the community, showcasing their creativity and all-American spirit. Filled with smiles, cheers, and community pride, the parade brought neighbors together for a memorable celebration of this historic milestone for our country.

With several years of experience leading wellness teams at premier private clubs throughout Southwest Florida, Lisa brings a passion for creating experiences that help people feel their best and enjoy a vibrant lifestyle. To Lisa, wellness goes beyond fitness classes and spa services. It’s about fostering meaningful connections, encouraging healthy habits, and creating opportunities for Members to find joy in everyday life. As she begins her new role, Lisa is focused on getting to know the community and learning what Members value most. She believes the best ideas come from listening and collaborating, and she looks forward to building on the wellness, spa, and sports programs already in place. Coming in October! Pickleball Courts
100% of the tournament fee collected per Member will benefit an organization supporting Breast Cancer Awareness efforts. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, register with your doubles partner and take part in competitive play on the courts with Members of your Esplanade community! This 4-hour tournament will consist of a 1-hour, timed round-robin event for Men’s and Women’s doubles, and mixed doubles play. After the tournament, the top three doubles teams from each event will be recognized at a special awards ceremony. Both men and women are encouraged to come dressed in their best pink pickleball attire, as we participate in a shared effort to raise money and end breast cancer. Spectators are also encouraged to wear pink and cheer on their neighbors! Registration will be on the Lifestyle website. Don’t miss out on the chance to be a part of this special event!

Join Chef Marco of ERE Culinary Leadership for the newest addition to our Culinary Catalogue! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to select and prepare fresh ingredients and accompaniments, make sushi rice the easy way, and master essential rolling techniques. We’ll kick off the evening with appetizers and sake before each attendee receives their own sushi mat and gets rolling! Chef Marco will guide you step by step as you create your own Tempura Shrimp, California, and Ahi Tuna rolls. Once your creations are complete, the best part begins: sitting back and enjoying them!
