The breezes off the Gulf turn warmer, the skies stretch into brilliant shades of blue, and the familiar rhythm of coastal living settles in around us. It’s a time when our community truly shines, from the vibrant blooms along our walkways to the golden sunsets that paint the horizon each evening.
This time of year always feels like a fresh invitation—to reconnect, to explore, and to enjoy the beauty of our neighborhood. Morning strolls become a little brighter, afternoons by the pool a little more refreshing, and evenings on the lanai a little more peaceful. Whether you’re tending to your tropical landscaping, enjoying a bike ride through the neighborhood, or planning weekend getaways to our nearby beaches, this season encourages us to slow down and savor the beauty that surrounds us.
We encourage you to take part in the activities planned for the coming months and to make the most of everything our neighborhood has to offer. Kyla is excited to be settling into her role at Esplanade by the Islands as the new Lifestyle Manager. Her background includes experience in hospitality, resorts, and recreation, with a strong focus on creating meaningful experiences and helping families make new, fun memories through thoughtfully planned events and activities. She began her career in her home state of Ohio working at her uncle’s family resort, went on to intern at Disney World, helped grow the recreation department at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa, and most recently supported recovery operations at South Seas following Hurricane Ian.
She is passionate about fostering a warm, engaging environment where everyone feels supported, connected, and truly at home.
Outside of work, Kyla enjoys spending time with her husband, bonus son, and pets—especially her rescue cat, Oakes. She loves trips to Disney World, visiting family in the Buckeye State, reading a good book, and browsing the aisles of TJ Maxx. Other joys include Taylor Swift jam sessions with her sister, traveling to unique destinations (including a honeymoon in an ice hotel!), and any opportunity to celebrate with a sweet treat. Kyla values kindness, positivity, and genuine connection, and strives to bring that energy into everything she does.
What Kyla looks forward to most is getting to know the Members and learning what makes this community special. Her goal is to listen, collaborate, and build a Lifestyle program that reflects the interests, personalities, and traditions of the people who live here, while creating memorable experiences and contributing to a vibrant, inclusive, and joyful community.

Kona is a petite powerhouse with a big heart and an even bigger bark. Born on January 18, 2024 to a street dog in Puerto Rico, Kona’s journey began with Northstar Heaven Can Wait, a nonprofit that rescues island pups and flies them to loving foster homes in New York. One look at her photo online, and her future family knew she was meant to be theirs. At just 12 weeks old and about 10 pounds, Kona arrived—adorable, spirited, and much shorter than anyone expected. With her black lab meets dachshund charm, she’s been stealing hearts ever since.
Kona loves her toys, especially anything she can tug, shake, or parade proudly around the house. At the dog park, she’s known for “borrowing” other dogs’ balls—always returned, but never without negotiation. She’s equal parts snuggly sweetheart and dramatic watchdog, once sounding the alarm at a harmless chair left out for garbage pickup.
A true foodie, Kona much prefers human cuisine to her own, with salmon ranking high on her list of favorites. She’s a bit of a diva at mealtime, but her family happily experiments to keep her satisfied. As the only pet in the home, she enjoys her spoiled princess status, especially when her humans’ beloved son comes to visit. Kona is happiest when her whole family is together—whether curled up in the same room or strolling side by side.

Valentine’s Day DINNER
Our Valentine’s Dinner set the perfect mood for an evening of romance and celebration. Members enjoyed a festive Valentine’s evening filled with great food, music, and plenty of energy. The DJ filled the room with love themed music that invited everyone onto the dance floor. Soft lighting, heartfelt moments, and plenty of couples swaying to their favorite songs made the night feel truly special. It was a charming, joy-filled Valentine’s celebration that brought out all the sweetness of the holiday.

Members met for a fun and relaxing bike ride throughout the community! This was a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, meet neighbors, and get some exercise in a friendly, social setting. They then met at the Venue after the ride for snacks and light-hearted conversation.

Raised in Porto Santo Stefano on the Tuscan coast and trained in restaurant and hotel management, Marco blends old world tradition with modern technique, global curiosity, and the warm hospitality he’s known for.
As a Certified Executive Chef and Certified Culinary Administrator, Marco has spent his career shaping unforgettable dining programs, including the opening of the first Bahama Bar and Culinary Center at Esplanade Lakewood Ranch.
