Fall is in the air! What a summer it has been at Azario! Over the past few months, we have danced the night away in Rio at Carnival Esplanade, escaped to the islands at Aloha After Dark, cheered on the Yankees and Rays at Tropicana Field, explored Mediterranean flavors during Cooking & Cocktails, and discovered just how many delicious ways one pineapple can be enjoyed during our Summer Harvest demonstration. From friendly games of pool and ping pong to patriotic celebrations, live music, great food, and plenty of time spent together, this summer has been filled with laughter, new experiences, and wonderful memories. As we trade our flip-flops for fall festivities—although perhaps not quite yet in Florida—we have even more to look forward to! The coming months will bring opportunities to reconnect at Daytime Bingo and The Monthly Unwind, dream about future adventures during our 2027 Destinations Debut, and celebrate the season with festive fall and Halloween activities, including pumpkin painting for our youngest Members. Fall is always an exciting time at Azario, and our Lifestyle Team is looking forward to filling the calendar with meaningful ways to gather, celebrate, and enjoy our community. riginally from Laguna Niguel, California, I recently traded the West Coast for the Sunshine State, making the move to Florida from Huntington Beach. Before joining the Azario team, I spent several years working in education with school districts throughout the Los Angeles area. I’m excited to bring my experience and enthusiasm to Azario and look forward to getting to know our Members, building meaningful relationships, and helping create the fun and memorable experiences that make our community so special. When I’m not at work, you’ll likely find me line dancing, working out, kayaking, or soaking up the sunshine with a relaxing day at the beach.

You might confuse monarch butterflies with other orange and black butterflies—the viceroy, and the queen butterfly. Learn to tell the difference and ways you can help monarchs and other butterflies year-round! Furry Friends Meet Peaches
LOVED BY CHRISTINA KEETER & LYNN WEATHERSPOON I am a 2-year-and-3-month-old Cavapoochon (that is a quarter Cavalier, quarter Bichon Frise, and half Toy Poodle). People say I look like a teddy bear. My superpower is my speed! Chasing after rabbits, taking golf cart rides, and getting belly rubs are my favorite activities. My groomer likes to bedazzle me with colorful rhinestones, and I love going to the spa. My guilty pleasures are chicken chips and Cheetos. I am a bit bashful at first, but also very obedient, observant, and fiercely playful. I also get the “woo-woos” instead of a usual bark or woof. Fireworks and thunderstorms don’t scare me. My humans are my parents, Christina and Lynn (he/him), and my sister, Ashley. She is pretty cool, too.

Barbara & Mike Zimmerman The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.
B
arbara, originally from Miami, and Michael, originally from Oceanside, Long Island, met in Ocala in October 1982 while working second jobs—Barbara as a waitress and Michael as a jazz drummer. After dating for four years, the avid baseball fans were married at home plate at Candlestick Park in San Francisco in December 1986. They went on to raise three children and are now proud grandparents to three grandchildren. The couple lived in San Dimas, California, for 26 years, where Barbara worked in accounting while Michael built a career in education-based athletics as a teacher, athletic director, and coach. After retiring, they returned to Florida and purchased a home on the Manatee River just west of downtown Bradenton. When Hurricanes Helene and Milton flooded their home in 2024 and destroyed most of their belongings, they repaired the damage and ultimately decided to move to Esplanade at Azario. They had first visited the community six years earlier when it consisted of only a golf course and model homes. This time, they found a move-in-ready home safely outside of a flood zone and have enjoyed making it their own with various upgrades and special projects.
The couple is embracing all that Azario has to offer, especially the outstanding culinary experiences and welcoming community. Barbara enjoys meeting new people through activities such as Girlfriends Happy Hour, Wine Divas, Bingo, Bunco, and relaxing at the beautiful resort pool. She has also taken a few golf lessons, tried pickleball, and hopes to make time for bocce ball as well. Michael enjoys golfing, biking, and swimming. He also works for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Bradenton Marauders based out of LeCom Park. Together, Barbara and Michael enjoy attending the theater, traveling, shopping, and exploring the area’s many restaurants—often finding themselves back at the Bahama Bar and Barrel House. Moving to Esplanade at Azario has been an amazing experience, and Barbara and Michael are proud to call the community home.

Members enjoyed an exciting night at Tropicana Field as the New York Yankees faced the Tampa Bay Rays. From the Daiquiri Deck in center field, guests cheered on their favorite team while enjoying great views, thrilling plays and a lively ballpark atmosphere. It was a memorable evening filled with baseball, camaraderie and fun.
Members enjoyed an immersive evening celebrating the vibrant flavors and culinary traditions of the Mediterranean. Guided by Chef, guests discovered fresh ingredients and cooking techniques while watching demonstrations and sampling each dish. It was an enjoyable evening filled with delicious food, conversation, and connection.

La Dolce Vita
M
embers enjoyed a taste of Italy during La Dolce Vita, an evening filled with delicious cuisine, warm hospitality, and live Italian music. Guests began with an abundant antipasto display featuring assorted cheeses, marinated vegetables, olives, artichoke salad, fresh mozzarella, and rustic breads, followed by minestrone soup and a selection of fresh salads. The highlight of the evening was the chef-attended pasta station, where Members selected their favorite pasta, sauce, and fresh addins for a customized dish prepared to order. Italian classics, including chicken parmesan, meatballs, lasagna, and vegetarian lasagna, rounded out the menu alongside seasonal vegetables and roasted marbled potatoes. Tiramisu and cheesecake provided the perfect sweet ending as Members relaxed, enjoyed the music, and shared a memorable evening with neighbors. Buon appetito!

Azario Celebrates America’s 250
A
zario marked America’s 250th birthday with a full day of patriotic experiences spanning golf, dining, recreation, and wellness. From the first tee shot of the morning to an evening of classic American flavors and music, Members had plenty of ways to celebrate with friends, family, and neighbors.
FOURTH OF JULY GOLF SCRAMBLE
The festivities began bright and early with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the Fourth of July Golf Scramble. Players competed in a four-person scramble while tackling a playful lineup of patriotic challenges and unconventional hole rules. Throughout the course, golfers teed off from alternate boxes, played entire holes using only select clubs, tested their skills with specialty putters, and enjoyed opportunities for mulligans, free throws, and free drops from sand or water. Closest-to-the-pin competitions were held for both men and women on Holes 8 and 12, while the Beat the Pro challenge on Hole 17 raised funds in support of PGA HOPE. The creative format brought plenty of laughs, friendly competition, and community spirit to the course, making it a memorable start to the holiday celebration.
STAR-SPANGLED FUN AT BAHAMA BAR
The celebration continued poolside with a lively afternoon at Bahama Bar and the Resort Pool. Members relaxed in the sunshine, enjoyed refreshing drinks, and danced along to live music from Sonic Sol. Chef Humberto prepared a festive Fourth of July buffet featuring burgers, smoked pulled pork, tropical mojo chicken, pineapple slaw, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, house salad, fresh fruit, cookies, and gluten-free rice crispy treats. The Lifestyle team added to the familyfriendly fun with games beneath the Wellness Center Veranda, along
with glitter tattoos and balloon twisting for the kids. With great music, delicious food, and plenty of time spent with neighbors, the afternoon captured the spirit of summer at Azario.
STARS, STRIPES & SUPPER
As the evening arrived, Members gathered at the Culinary Center and Barrel House Bistro for Stars, Stripes & Supper, a special dining experience celebrating America’s 250th birthday. Guests enjoyed a three-course menu filled with familiar American favorites. Firstcourse selections included chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, house salad, and Caesar salad. Entrée options ranged from shrimp and grits, chicken pot pie, country-fried steak, and fish and chips to barbecue pork ribs, barbecue chicken, and a hearty vegetable plate. The celebration concluded on a sweet note with peach cobbler, Key lime pie, vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, or tofu chocolate mousse. Classic Americana music from the DJ provided the perfect soundtrack for dining, conversation, and patriotic celebration.
WELLNESS CELEBRATION SPECIALS
The Spa and Wellness Center joined the festivities with a collection of America 250-inspired offers designed to encourage Members to move, recharge, and enjoy a little extra relaxation. Select spa enhancements—including warm stone therapy, soothing scalp treatments, magnesium therapy, nail art, callus treatments, and HydroPeptide collagen eye treatments—were offered for just $2.50. Members could also take part in group exercise classes for $2.50, while 100-minute spa services were available at a $25 discount. It was a relaxing and refreshing way to celebrate the holiday.

Pumpkin Swirl Brownies The weather might not be cooling down just yet, but autumn is here. Evoke the coziness of the season with this delicious brownie recipe! INGREDIENTS » » » » » » » » » » » » » »
¾ cup all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon baking powder ½ teaspoon salt ¾ cup butter, melted 1½ cups sugar 2 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 eggs ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips ¼ cup cocoa powder ½ cup pumpkin puree ½ cup chopped walnuts ¾ teaspoon cinnamon ½ teaspoon ground cloves ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 8-inch square pan. 2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. 3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, and vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time. 4. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Divide the batter evenly between two bowls. 5. Mix chocolate chips and cocoa powder into one bowl. Mix pumpkin puree, walnuts, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg into the other. 6. Layer half of the chocolate batter, then half of the pumpkin batter, in the prepared pan. Repeat the layers, then swirl gently with a knife. 7. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool before cutting into 16 squares. Optional: serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
