Spring is in the Air!
As we settle into the rhythm of a new year, the first few months of 2026 have already been filled with connection, creativity, and community spirit. After living in Charlotte, NC, my husband and I moved to Florida in 2021 with our two pups, Motueka and River. In my free time, you’ll usually find me enjoying sports, craft beer, and time with friends and family.

Director of Instruction at Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch gains PGA of America Class A Membership
We proudly congratulate Anthony on being elected to PGA Membership and achieving his Class-A status. While the PGA curriculum requires roughly 800 hours of coursework, the full process—securing employment, passing the Playing Ability Test (PAT), and completing the education—often takes up to six years. Anthony completed this demanding program in just over two years, a remarkable accomplishment that reflects his focus and dedication.
Anthony Melchione, Director of Instruction at Esplanade at Azario, is a passionate and detail-oriented instructor committed to helping golfers see real improvement in their games. He began his career in New Jersey, where he owned and operated a successful golf business and school for five years. Eager to grow as both a player and coach, he relocated to Florida to further elevate his skills.
Throughout his career, Anthony has competed in numerous tournaments and qualifiers, continually sharpening his expertise. He has studied with world-renowned coaches, including Mike Bender, Brian Mogg, Denny Lucas, Larry Rinker, and the David Leadbetter School—experiences that have shaped his deep understanding of the golf swing.
Anthony is also PGA HOPE certified, leading programs for military veterans and demonstrating his commitment to service. Known for his personable, effective teaching style, he takes pride in helping students exceed their expectations. At home, Anthony enjoys life with his wife, Jordan, and their three children, Amara, Marchella, and Jax, whose support fuels his passion for the game.

The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. Roz and Bruce Holberg moved to Esplanade at Azario just over a year ago. Like many of their neighbors, Lakewood Ranch was not the Holberg’s first Florida residence. In fact, the couple moved from Philadelphia to Clearwater Beach in 2023 but realized that location wasn’t for them. There was no sense of community, no activities, and not many full-time residents.
Lakewood Ranch answered their needs and then some. Not only have Roz and Bruce participated in loads of wonderful activities organized by the Lifestyle team, but they have found an environment at Esplanade at Azario where they have the ability to pursue their individual passions. Roz has found a niche as a mahjong teacher, an activity from which she derives great satisfaction, as well as being a Member of the Book Club.
Bruce is a Member of the Photography Club, SIPS Wine Club, and has established a highly successful “Dinearound” group that visits interesting restaurants each month. As a couple, they enjoy bingo, potlucks, and the numerous discussion sessions that Esplanade at Azario offers. Even though they neither golf nor play pickleball, they find themselves with a really full social schedule. There is always the comfort of home, though. The two are excellent cooks and share cooking duties.
On a more personal note, Bruce grew up in the Detroit area and Roz in Philadelphia, where they met. He owned radio stations and she was in the advertising and marketing business. The match was instantaneous and they are celebrating their 40th anniversary in March. The couple is highly traveled, with highlights living in Paris for a time where they studied French and cooking and traveled through much of the French countryside. They also spent
time trekking for Mountain Gorillas in Uganda. The sophisticated and luxurious environment here is one of the many reasons why Esplanade at Azario was a good choice for them.

LOVED BY MARY ELLEN
Lainey is a 15-month-old Shih Tzu–Poodle mix with a big personality and even bigger energy. Her mom, Mary Ellen, moved to Esplanade at Azario from Long Island and was looking for a companion. She adopted Lainey from Florida Fur Babies last January, when she was just two months old.
Now, Lainey is a familiar sight around the neighborhood. Neighbors instantly recognize her as she happily darts up and down the streets at 7:30 a.m., ready to start her day. She has endless energy, loves traveling everywhere with her mom, and adores both people and other dogs.
Lainey wants to be everyone’s friend, and her absolute favorite thing is a belly rub. If you spot her around the neighborhood, don’t be surprised if she flips onto her back, inviting you to give her some attention! She also loves riding in the golf cart and checking out the community. With Lainey around, every day is a fun day.
