Summer is here! Summer is officially in full swing, and while the Florida heat is rising, so is the excitement around our event calendar. Over the past few months, we’ve enjoyed a fantastic mix of social, culinary, and interactive experiences. From the friendly competition of Azario Feud and the dance floor at our Silent Disco to delicious classes like Pastabilities and Salad Dressing Lab, it has been wonderful to see so many Members connecting and having fun together. One standout success has been Music Bingo, which has quickly become a Member favorite. We’re excited to keep the fun going with upcoming sessions on Wednesdays, July 1 and August 19. Looking ahead, be sure to join us for Summer Harvest: The Pineapple Project on Saturday, July 11, a unique culinary experience celebrating one fruit in multiple delicious ways. We’ll also continue our popular Technology & AI Education Series on Monday, July 20, helping Members stay informed about the rapidly evolving digital world. Jena Craver ASSISTANT FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER
O
riginally from St. Petersburg, Florida, Jena brings a passion for hospitality, creativity, and great food to her role as Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. Whether she’s helping create memorable dining experiences for Members or exploring new recipes at home, Jena’s love for food and connection shines through in everything she does. When she’s not at Azario, Jena enjoys curling up with a good book, spending time with her three beloved cats, building intricate LEGO creations, and experimenting with new dishes in the kitchen. Her favorite cuisine is Asian-inspired fare, and she’s always eager to discover new flavors and cooking techniques. Jena’s favorite place to unwind is Knoxville, Tennessee, and on game days, you’ll find her cheering on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She lives by the quote, “You can’t add days to your life, but you can add life to your days,” a philosophy that reflects her positive outlook and appreciation for making the most of every moment. Gloria & Rick Mori The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. O
riginally from Pittsburgh, Rick moved to Baltimore to complete his orthodontic residency, where he met Gloria, a Baltimore native. Their connection quickly grew into a lifelong partnership, and the two eventually married before embarking on their next adventure together. That next chapter took them to Dayton, Ohio, where Rick opened his own orthodontic practice. Over the next 25 years, they built a wonderful life, established deep roots in the community, and enjoyed fulfilling careers before deciding it was time to trade Midwest winters for Florida sunshine. In 2020, Rick and Gloria made the move to Esplanade Golf & Country Club in Naples and quickly embraced the resort lifestyle. A few years later, after touring Azario, they knew they had found their perfect fit. They were drawn to the spacious community design, extensive amenities, and vibrant year-round Member population that fosters an active and welcoming atmosphere. Today, Rick and Gloria stay busy enjoying many of the things that make life at Azario so special. Rick can often be found on the golf course or trying out new recipes in the kitchen, while Gloria enjoys participating in the Creative Arts Club and Book Club. Together, they love exploring local restaurants and taking advantage of everything the area has to offer.

Recent Events Guided Mangrove

Members explored Sarasota Bay by single or tandem kayak with an experienced guide through lush mangrove tunnels. They spotted wildlife up close—manatees, dolphins, shorebirds, fish, starfish, shells—and learned about the local ecosystem on this easy, naturefilled paddle.
Members gathered at The Barrel House for an afternoon of sunshine, sangria, and summer style. Guests enjoyed a glass of sangria, shared cheese boards, light bites, lively music, and dancing on the lanai. The relaxed atmosphere provided the perfect setting to mingle, reconnect with friends, and celebrate summer together.

Pastabilities
We hosted a chic afternoon where fashion met flair. Guests sipped sparkling bubbly and enjoyed light bites while Azario Member Models took the runway in an exclusive Scout & Molly’s fashion show. Attendees discovered the season’s must-have looks, shopped the on-site pop-up boutique, and heard from our charity partner FELT about their community work—it was an elegant occasion.
Chef Marco Marini led Pastabilities—a hands-on pasta and cocktail evening. Guests began with bruschetta and Aperol Spritz, then watched demonstrations on mixing, kneading, coloring dough, using a pasta maker, and shaping pasta. He covered sauce-building for a tomato basil and a creamy Parmesan, plus tips for boiling, seasoning, and tossing angel hair and fettuccine. Members tasted throughout and left inspired to recreate the dishes at home. Buon appetito!

Music
We hosted a hands-on mixology class where Members learned to craft three creative cocktails and enjoyed an extra sample shot. Our expert instructor demonstrated shaking, stirring, muddling, garnishing, and shared cocktail history and spirit flavor notes. All ingredients and tools were provided.
Music Bingo delivered a fresh, high-energy twist on classic bingo. Instead of numbers, Members listened for popular songs, marked their cards, and sang along to feel-good hits. The night buzzed with great vibes and chances to win fun prizes.

AquaPalooza Makes a Splash
M
embers and guests kicked off pool season in style at our 2nd Annual AquaPalooza, transforming the Resort Pool into a hub of energy, laughter, and summer fun. The complimentary event brought the community together for a morning of movement and entertainment, highlighted by a team-taught water fitness class set to upbeat music from one of our favorite DJs. Between refreshing beverages, poolside games, and plenty of opportunities to cool off, attendees enjoyed a lively atmosphere that perfectly captured the spirit of summer at Azario. From fitness enthusiasts to those simply looking to relax and socialize, AquaPalooza offered something for everyone. Thank you to all who joined us and helped make this year’s event another splashing success. We can’t wait to see you at next year’s AquaPalooza!

Ladies Tennis Claims Championship
W
e are thrilled to celebrate our incredible Azario Ladies Tennis team on an outstanding achievement, winning the Tri Cities Tennis League for a second time! Our team, led by captains Jane Harper and Lynn Veldman, competed at the highest level all season long in the top skill tier among four divisions in the league. To put this accomplishment in perspective, the Tri Cities League spans across Sarasota, Venice, and Bradenton, with over 700 women competing across 36 teams. Great work, ladies!
Birdie-A-Thon
A
zario golfers proudly represented the community during this year’s charitable golf event, 5th Annual NFPGA Chapter Birdie-A-Thon, combining great play with an even greater purpose. Both teams delivered impressive performances on the course while helping raise funds for several deserving local organizations. Team 1—Michael Tuohy, Conrad Tidswell, Michael Hebert, and Anthony Melchione—finished an outstanding 20-under par over 18 holes, a remarkable improvement from last year’s performance. Team 2—Scott Wilson, Jack Lynam, Josh Gay, and Chris McDonald— also turned in an excellent round, finishing 17-under par. Following the event, Chris and Josh treated participants to a fantastic dinner, adding to an already memorable day. Thanks to generous Member support through birdie pledges and direct donations, Esplanade at Azario raised approximately $9,000, with each birdie worth roughly $305 in charitable contributions. Across all participating teams, an incredible 237 birdies were recorded, generating more than $47,500 in a single day. Additional events planned at two other courses are expected to increase the total fundraising impact to approximately $67,000. Giving back is one of the PGA’s core values, and the funds raised will benefit several outstanding organizations, including PGA HOPE, the
Tim Beckwith Scholarship Fund, Capri Isles Junior Golf, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sarasota, The First Tee of Sarasota & Manatee, and the Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota. Congratulations to all participants for their excellent play and generosity, and thank you for helping make a meaningful difference in our community.
