Furry Friends

Meet Willow

LOVED BY BOBBI WALDRON

What breed/type, how old is she and when is her birthday? How long has your pet been a part of your family?

Willow is an almost two-year-old Cavapoo born on April 29, 2024. I’ve had her since she was eight weeks old.

When you travel, does she travel with you?

Yes, Willow travels with me. She is a service dog, so she can sit on my lap while flying.

What are her favorite treats?

Carrots and ice cubes.

What are a few amazing qualities about your furry best friend?

She is very smart and headstrong, but also a sweetheart. Willow gets along with every dog she meets and loves people. She enjoys her daily massages and grooming sessions.

Where were you born? Pittsburgh, PA.

What are your hobbies?

Cooking is my passion—I have owned my business for years. I also enjoy gardening, baking, traveling, and boating.

What are you most thankful for?

I’m especially grateful for my family, particularly my son. I also have a large, close-knit group of friends who mean the world to me. This year, I faced major health challenges and they have all stepped up to support me.

Where is your favorite place that you have traveled to?

The Douro River Valley in Portugal! The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and the food and wine are exceptional.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Raising an incredible son!

What is your favorite thing about Esplanade?

I love getting to know all the Members. I enjoy our conversations and learning more about them!

Tell us a fun story involving your pet!

Willow loves attention—but only when she wants it! She is independent most of the time, enjoys car rides and golf cart rides, and dislikes being left alone. She especially loves her walks around the Resort Amenity Center, where she can chase lizards!

Robert & Maria Wollet

The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.

Why did you choose Palmetto, FL / Esplanade at Artisan Lakes? Is your residency full-time or part-time? If part-time, where else do you spend your time?

We selected Palmetto because it is so conveniently located. Robert and I lived in Eave’s Bend for almost four years. He always liked Esplanade and decided he wanted to move here. We looked at the model homes, met with Jodie (a sales agent), and bought our new home; a 1 1/2-mile move! We are year-round residents.

How long have you lived at Esplanade at Artisan Lakes? This past October, we celebrated one year as Esplanade Members.

What Lifestyle programs are you most interested in? Are you in a club? Do you attend any classes/clinics? Also, tell us your hobbies. I have attended a Book Club meeting and a couple of self-help/ awareness classes. Now that I am retired, I am able to participate more in the activities offered. I enjoy reading and writing, interior design, and music. Both Robert and I love live music shows and attending live sporting events. Robert is a skilled drummer.

Tell us about your family and current or past professions.

We have a grown daughter named Melody. She is a fifth grade science teacher and is married to her high school sweetheart, Alex. Melody and Alex purchased their first home in Esplanade at Skye Ranch last April. Robert was a marketing and business development manager and has elected to continue working post-retirement. I was a diamond jewelry broker and also did business writing, editing, and proposals. We both recently retired.

What is the best advice you have ever received or given? “Listen more than you speak.”

Tell us something that might surprise people. Robert and my daughter Melody believe I attract good luck and frequently tease me about it.
