YOUR CONCIERGE

Where were you born?

I was born in Charleston, South Carolina, a city I have always felt connected to and am proud to call home. My family is originally from Canada, with deep roots in the Oneida Nation.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors and savoring life’s simple pleasures. I have a deep appreciation for nature and love bringing its gifts into the kitchen. Since becoming an herbalist a year ago, I’ve found joy in creating many things from scratch.

What are you most thankful for?

I’m most thankful for the people in my life who support and encourage me, as well as the health and opportunities that allow me to continue growing. I believe gratitude comes from appreciating both the big milestones and the small, everyday blessings.

What is your favorite place you have traveled to?

I haven’t traveled much yet, so I don’t have a favorite destination at this point. That said, I’m excited for the opportunity to explore new places in the future and create meaningful travel memories.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment is becoming the person I am today while continuing to grow, learn and stay true to myself. I value personal growth and the strength it takes to keep moving forward through life’s experiences.

What is your favorite thing about Esplanade?

My favorite thing about Esplanade is the welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community. It feels like a place where people can truly feel comfortable, connected and at home.

Meet Jewel’s

LOVED BY ROBERT BRADY

What breed/type of dog is your pet, how old is she and when was she born?

Jewel’s is a 16-week-old Pedigree Labrador Retriever born on November 30, 2025.

When you travel, do they travel with you?

Yes, she travels in the car very well.

What is their favorite treat?

Her favorite treat is Niblets.

What are a few amazing qualities about your furry best friend?

Jewel’s gets along wonderfully with other dogs, both big and small, and remains calm even if another dog growls or snaps at her.

How long has your pet been a part of your family?

She has been part of our family for the past five weeks. We drove to South Carolina to pick her up when she was 11 weeks old, then made the drive back home together.

Tell us a fun story involving your pet!

She enjoys going on numerous walks each day and loves to jump around and play. She even has her own large doghouse in my room. I am currently working on training her, and she is doing very well but is still learning to be potty trained. I’m looking forward to having a lifelong best friend!

Kurt (Elvis) & Julie (Jules) Miller

The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.

Why did you choose Palmetto, Florida, and Esplanade at Artisan Lakes? Is your residency full-time or part-time?

Julie’s parents began wintering in Palmetto more than 30 years ago, creating lasting family ties to the area. After years of vacationing throughout Florida, we realized Palmetto felt like home. In 2022, we purchased her parents’ condominium in Terra Ceia Bay Golf & Country Club. When we were ready for more space in 2024, one of our sisters recommended Esplanade at Artisan Lakes, and we quickly knew it was the right fit. We now split our time between Florida and our summer lake home in Wisconsin.

How long have you lived at Esplanade at Artisan Lakes?

We are celebrating two years here, and the lifestyle and strong sense of community have exceeded our expectations.

What Lifestyle programs and hobbies do you enjoy?

Kurt enjoys the pool, regular workouts, bocce ball and the monthly men’s dinners. Julie works from home in human resources for a global marketing company and looks forward to enjoying more Lifestyle offerings after retiring later this year. Together, we love attending social events and hope to become even more involved. “The Pirate Party and Hawaiian Luau were fantastic!”

Tell us about your family and professions.

We are parents to six children and proud grandparents to nine, with number 10 arriving this summer. Our Wisconsin lake home is a favorite gathering place for family, friends and neighbors.

Kurt retired six years ago after a 45-year career with Quad Graphics. He now shares his expertise through his part-time consulting business, Taking Care of Your Business. He also performs as an Elvis impersonator at a favorite Wisconsin restaurant and occasionally at

events in Florida. Julie has worked in human resources for more than 30 years and is looking forward to retiring later this year.

What is the best advice you have received or given?

We encourage our grandchildren to stay true to themselves, build on their strengths and remember that life is often easier when you follow the rules. Like most good advice, it is sometimes welcomed— and sometimes not!

Tell us something that might surprise people.

Kurt: Friends and family insist we make the best homemade salsa and chips around. Each late summer, Jules and I pick fresh tomatoes at a local farm and spend a weekend canning our signature batches. I am also a lifelong Elvis fan. Long live the King—thank you, thank you very much!

Julie: I have a nut allergy, yet somehow I married one anyway! Life has a funny sense of humor.

Anything else you’d like to share?

We truly love this community and look forward to attending more events and getting to know even more of our neighbors.
