Welcome Summer! This is a time for relaxing with friends and family, staying cool and enjoying the beautiful water that surrounds our state! In case you missed some of our programming this spring, in May we launched our Singles Club, hosted a Cinco de Mayo Mingler and hosted our second Grand Wine Tasting, the first one right here at Azario! Members were all aboard in June for a LeBarge cruise exclusive for Members in celebration of World Ocean Day. We hosted a very special Memorial Day Breakfast featuring a slideshow that showcased Members, staff or their families that have served in the U.S. military. Who says wine is just for humans? In May, we hosted “Yappy Hour Wine and Wags” where our pups were treated to delightful Pet Winery Pawringnon Rosé! Members relaxed in the shade and enjoyed their own beverages for this special Yappy Hour in recognition of National Drink Wine Day! Social Clubs and Interest Groups really took off this spring with the addition of our Singles Club, Bowling Club and 5k Run Club! Do you have a fantastic idea for a new club at Azario? Maybe you have a fabulous idea for an outing! We would love to see you and hear your ideas at our monthly Coffee & Conversation where you have the opportunity to share your interests and dreams of future clubs, events and brainstorm with fellow Members! Gentlemen, Men’s
Happy Hour is a fun and relaxing group, and we are in search of one or two fellas to run this as a club! Ready to escape to a new destination this year? Plans are in the works for a special travel focused event this summer! One of the most popular summer activities in Florida is going to the beach. Esplanade Members will join forces in July for a beach clean-up effort benefiting Keep Manatee Beautiful. Details to come! The slow pace of summer allows for more time for self-care and focusing on your wellness. We will have an evening meditation and yoga under the stars in July and August will feature a 7-day self-care wellness challenge in honor of National Wellness Month! Each month your dedicated team hosts Monthly Member meetings, the informative Esplanade 101, sharing all the keys to the Esplanade Lifestyle, Neighborhood news, a community update and last but definitely not least, Coffee & Conversation with your Lifestyle Manager to discuss upcoming programming, brainstorm ideas and enjoy breakfast on us! Conrad Tidswell YOUR GENERAL MANAGER
W
e are pleased to introduce your new General Manager at Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch, Conrad Tidswell! Conrad brings over 20 years of hospitality experience working in both luxury hotels and highvolume restaurants. He has helped shape the Food and Beverage operations at some of the best resorts in Miami, including The Conrad Miami and The Kimpton Surfcomber. His most recent position was with Esplanade on Palmer Ranch where he was the General Manager beginning in 2019. He was very involved with the sports courts programming as well as helping build the wellness and social schedule to fit the Member’s expectations. He has extensive experience building budgets as well as managing vendors to meet the property’s needs. Conrad was born in Maine, but has lived in North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. He’s been married fifteen years to his college sweetheart. They have two children, Conrad (12) and Summer (10). Conrad loves to play baseball and soccer while Summer loves dancing and softball. When not working, his family loves to watch the Red Sox and Patriots and do anything that involves being outside. You can usually find them at the beach or on the water! He looks forward to getting to know the Members of Azario, providing exceptional leadership and guidance!

LOVED BY RANDY & DEBBIE PULLIAM What breed/type is your pet and how old? Layla is a 4-year-old Miniature Goldendoodle. What are her most unique qualities or something funny she does? She loves people and other dogs. Playing fetch with our tennis balls or toys. Her favorite thing to do is a golf cart ride to the dog park. When you travel, do your pets join you or do you have a favorite caretaker? She travels with us occasionally or stays with our daughter’s family. She loves it there and playing with the kids. What is something naughty that your pet is always doing? Layla likes trying to sneak in any sticks or bark into the house to chew. What is her favorite treat? Health Benefits of Restorative Sleep
A
ccording to Psychology Today, sleep problems can cause issues with memory, thinking, mood (depression, anxiety) and chronic fatigue/chronic pain.
During sleep, the brain is able to repair and grow cells, tissue, and nerves that regenerate and boost the immune system. Along with good nutrition and stress reduction, restorative sleep is vital for physical, mental, and emotional health. According to the CDC, adults need at least seven hours of sleep every night.

Florida Floodplains The National Wildlife Federation and our affiliate, Florida Wildlife Federation, have won ground-breaking Endangered Species Act victories to protect coastal habitats throughout the Florida Keys.
SEA TURTLES & FLOODPLAIN DEVELOPMENT
In 2009, the National Wildlife Federation and Florida Wildlife Federation filed a lawsuit against FEMA for failing to protect endangered sea turtles from the impacts of its National Flood Insurance Program, which promotes development in critical sea turtle habitats. Ninety percent of all sea turtle nesting in the U.S. takes place on Florida’s beaches, including loggerhead, green, hawksbill and leatherbacks. Coastal development on dunes of eroding beaches can significantly impact sea turtles by interfering with nesting and hatchlings. “In addition to providing essential wildlife habitat, these coastal areas work as buffers against storm surges up and down the Florida coast,” said John Kostyack, the National Wildlife Federation’s Vice President of Wildlife Conservation. “By allowing houses and business to be built in flood prone areas, the Federal Flood Insurance Program is subsidizing the destruction of sea turtle habitat, putting people at risk and wasting our tax dollars.” Read more by visiting nwf.org/Our-Work/Habitats/ Floodplains/Florida-Floodplains.
