UNDERSTANDING AND PREVENTING ELDER ABUSE: A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the mistreatment of older adults and promoting strategies to prevent it. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was launched by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations. Elder abuse is a serious issue affecting millions of seniors worldwide, often unnoticed and unreported. This article delves into the various forms of elder abuse, signs to watch for, current statistics, and ways we can prevent elder abuse, both personally and within our families. It’s up to all of us to recognize when abuse is happening and to take action to stop it.
