t’s not often you come across a destination that fully lives up to its reputation, let alone exceeds it the more you visit. Yet, Jamaica is one of the Caribbean’s top travel destinations for good reason, welcoming over four million visitors (stopover and cruise) in 2024. Indeed, travellers from across the world are drawn in by Jamaica’s high energy, seen in both its cultural and musical 2 | Outlook Travel Issue 26

heritage and, more figuratively, in its dramatic peaks, like those of the Blue Mountains. Synonymous with the island’s unmatched cultural essence, the soulful sounds of reggae beat like a drum through the heart of the nation. This globally loved music genre encapsulates feelings of resistance, liberation, and spiritual connection, having originated in Kingston in

the 1960s, where reggae became a resounding voice for marginalised communities. Reggae soon evolved into a celebration of cultural identity, emphasised by the colours seen across the island: black represents the strength and creativity of the people, gold symbolises wealth and the sunshine, and green stands for the lush vegetation of the island.

Travellers are instantly immersed in the infectious rhythm of reggae as its soulful vibes can be felt on the streets of Kingston, where weekly street dances, towering speakers, and electric dance crews bring the Jamaican capital to life. Kingston Dub Club’s Sunday night sessions are also loved by both locals and visitors alike, offering a playful taste of heavy roots reggae. Outlook Travel Issue 26 | 3

Perched on the southeast coast of the island, Kingston is the core of Jamaica’s culture. To experience the true soul of the island, immerse yourself in the energy of its beautiful streets and take in the harmonious warmth of its diverse communities. You should also be sure to check out Montego Bay. Known locally as ‘MoBay’, it is Jamaica’s second-largest city behind the capital and offers a much more relaxed vibe, perfect for those prioritising ‘R and R’. Doctor’s Cave Beach in Montego Bay is well worth a visit, especially if you’re with family and looking for some fun in the sun for all generations. Routinely recognised as the best beach in the area, soak up the sun on its golden shores and make the most of a well-stocked beach club just a stone’s throw away. This picture-postcard beach also lets you see the best of Jamaican marine life through numerous snorkelling and scuba diving providers. If the stunning beach scenery and vibrant atmosphere wasn’t enough to entice you to this fantastic island, then Jamaica’s food scene certainly will. On the rise as one of the Caribbean’s top culinary destinations, travellers are increasingly hungry for the bold flavours of jerk chicken, served fresh from authentic roadside jerk pans, offering earthy, aromatic notes that dance on the tongue.

JAMAICA’S CLIMATE The island boasts a tropical climate all year round, with temperatures remaining between 22 degrees Celsius (°C) and 31°C. However, there are wet and dry seasons to be aware of. The latter falls between mid-December and April, where visitors can enjoy bright sunshine, little rainfall, and low humidity. On the flip side, Jamaica’s rainy season occurs between the months of May and November, bringing high humidity and tropical downpours. The rain falls in short bursts rather than a consistent downpour. Therefore, as long as you plan your trip accordingly, coming to Jamaica during this period means you can make the most of fewer crowds, lower flight and hotel prices, and thriving vegetation and green landscapes.

JAMAICA’S 2027 EVENTS Several major events are happening next year to add to your Jamaica itinerary, including: • Reggae Month (February) - Primarily taking place in the capital, it features both live and digital performances that honour the history, culture, and global impact of reggae music. • Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Festival (March) - This annual festival celebrates all things coffee. • Jamaica Food and Drink Festival (March) – A four-day celebration, each dedicated to a different theme, cementing the island as the culinary capital of the Caribbean. • Carnival in Jamaica (31st March – 6th April) – Comprising parties, concerts, dance sessions, and the iconic Road March on Sunday 4th April in Kingston, in celebration of the island’s soca season. • International Reggae Day (1st July) – A day of recognition of the global impact of the genre created in Jamaica. • Reggae Sumfest (Mid-July) – This week-long reggae and dance festival is the height of Montego Bay’s calendar, showcasing the best local and global artists.

They’re also increasingly hungry for Jamaica’s national dish, ackee and saltfish. This colourful plate is a delight for all the senses, as ackee – the national fruit – is sautéed with saltfish and served with onions, tomatoes, and sweet peppers. Other must-try foods are the widely loved Jamaican patty and succulent curry goat, immersed in spices and rich flavours. Visitors can enjoy the delights of Jamaica’s food scene through culinary gems like the Jamaica Food and Drink Festival, Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Festival, Miss T’s Kitchen, and globally beloved exports such as Appleton Estate rum. Whether you are at work or scrolling on the sofa, a trip to Jamaica sits right within your grasp, waiting for you to unlock the ultimate Caribbean destination experience.

JAMAICA TOU DONOVAN WHITE Director of Tourism

Much has changed for the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) since we last spoke in March 2025, with its role as the island’s national tourism agency expanding significantly thanks to Jamaica’s increasing recognition as the Caribbean’s premier travel spot. 6 | Outlook Travel Issue 26

TH E CO U N TRY ’S R ECOV E RY since Hurricane Melissa in October 2025 has instilled a new sense of hope, seen throughout the revitalisation of its flourishing tourism offering, welcoming over two million visitors between January and August this year. Intertwining Jamaica’s local communities and iconic visitor experience, the country’s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, has put numerous measures in place to ensure its tourism growth does not leave behind the local culture and, in fact, puts it as the glistening jewel in Jamaica’s ever-evolving crown. For example, Minister Bartlett’s 10x10x10 initiative funnels greater investment into local communities, ensuring the island remains a world-class destination for generations to come and making your future trips an even brighter reality.

JAMAICA T R AV E L G U I D E

URIST BOARD JTB is also an integral part of the Tourism 3.0 strategy. Launched in June this year, it places the growth of the local culture at the forefront, letting you take in the authenticity of the people, music, food, and way of life with ease. Built around the theme of ‘Trust and Confidence’, the strategy will not only grow tourism in Jamaica but also grow Jamaica through tourism. As more travellers take to the nation’s shores and bustling streets, this strategy lets you make a real difference to local communities, ensuring tourism value stays amongst the people who are to thank for the country’s unique spirit and make Jamaica so beloved around the world. We catch up with Donovan White, Director of Tourism for JTB, who delves deeper into how you can make the most of this one-of-a-kind island and celebrate the resilient

JTB’S CONTRASTS CAMPAIGN

Launched in January 2025, JTB’s Contrasts campaign offers a vast spectrum of immersive experiences and builds upon the board’s One Love and Come Back campaigns. Crafted to meet the expectations of evolving travellers, it showcases the immense pride JTB has in the island’s people, hospitality, and range of adventures. Thanks to the campaign, you can witness with your own eyes the diversity of Jamaica, its multidimensional appeal, and rich cultural heritage – encouraging people to come and see it for themselves. Letting visitors feel totally in sync with the best versions of themselves, Contrasts showcases Jamaica’s unparalleled beauty, warm hospitality, and incredible vibe.

and joyous culture that is central to Jamaica’s status as a destination with a difference. Outlook Travel (OT): Firstly, how has the Jamaican tourism industry developed since we spoke last year? Donovan White, Director of Tourism (DW): Since we last spoke, this industry has been tested, and it has answered. Hurricane Melissa made landfall in St. Elizabeth on 28th October 2025 as a Category 5 storm, the strongest ever recorded to strike Jamaica. Approximately 6,200 hotel rooms went out of circulation in a matter of hours. However, Jamaica still closed 2025 with 3.7 million visitors and USD$4 billion in earnings. What those figures cannot convey is the speed of what followed. More than 80,000 tourism workers have returned to their jobs, and approximately 5,648 rooms are scheduled to reopen this year. 8 | Outlook Travel Issue 26

Minister Bartlett has put it plainly: a reopened room is a returned salary. That is the measure this industry holds itself to and, by that measure, the year was a testament to the island’s resilience. OT: Can you update us on JTB’s Come Back advertising campaign and how this lends to your latest Contrasts campaign? DGW: The Come Back campaign has proven durable because it is personal rather than generic. It asks travellers to return not simply to a place, but to their best selves. The Contrasts campaign leans into what makes that invitation credible: our people and cultural heritage. The campaign architecture speaks to distinct travellers, including those discovering Jamaica for the first time, families planning a long-anticipated trip, and seasoned visitors who already know the island. Each finds a different Jamaica and a reason to return. OT: How does JTB encourage travel and attract visitors to Jamaica all year round? DW: Jamaica does not have an off-season; we have variety. Our events calendar runs deliberately across the whole year, and the months on either side of our winter peak offer travellers better value and a quieter island. Non-summer months also allow visitors to have a more intimate experience of our attractions and communities.

OT: Can you talk us through the ways Jamaica continues to differentiate itself from other Caribbean islands? DW: Every Caribbean island offers beaches, whereas Jamaica offers a complete destination: landscapes, culture, cuisine, and hospitality functioning together as one experience. This authenticity is unmatched. Minister Bartlett’s Tourism 3.0 sharpens this further as Jamaica moves from a visitor consumption economy towards a local production economy, where what tourism demands, Jamaica itself supplies.

“EVERY CARIBBEAN ISLAND OFFERS BEACHES, WHEREAS JAMAICA O F F E R S A C O M P L E T E D E S T I N AT I O N : L A N D S C A P E S , C U LT U R E , C U I S I N E , A N D H O S P I TA L I T Y F U N C T I O N I N G TOGETHER AS ONE EXPERIENCE. THIS AUTHENTICITY IS U N M AT C H E D ” – D O N O VA N W H I T E , D I R E C TO R O F TO U R I S M , J A M A I C A

OT: Where would you say is the most unique place to stay in Jamaica? DW: I would point travellers to Treasure Beach on the south coast. Jakes Hotel and other similar off-the-beatenpath accommodations capture what makes that stretch of the island singular. No uniform blocks of rooms or long corridors – simply cottages and colour set against the sea, built by hand and sustained by the community. Jakes Hotel in particular reopened following Hurricane Melissa and has since introduced newly reimagined oceanfront bungalows. Around it, the village has returned as well, from Jack Sprat and YS Falls to Floyd’s Pelican Bar. This is not a resort experience; it is Jamaica at close range. 10 | Outlook Travel Issue 26

TOURIST BOARD

OT: With the continued growth of community tourism, how can travellers best immerse themselves in the lifestyle of the locals? DW: Community tourism succeeds when visitors leave the resort perimeter. Minister Bartlett’s Local First policy has formalised this by directing tourism demand towards Jamaican farmers, artisans, and small operators, so that community immersion and economic empowerment happen together.

Travellers can join a cooking class, learn traditional drumming, or visit Maroon heritage sites, knowing they are spending their stays in the community they are visiting. OT: On the flip side, how are you responding to major investments being made in the island’s resorts, and what impact will they have on Jamaica’s tourism industry?

Jamaica has a development pipeline of approximately 15,000 to 20,000 new rooms over the next five to 10 years, representing an estimated USD$5 billion in investment, anchored by projects such as The Pinnacle and the continued evolution of the Rose Hall Tourism Development Corridor. As Minister Bartlett has said, this is not incremental growth. Travellers arriving in 2027 will find a destination that did not merely recover but used recovery to build towards something larger. OT: Finally, are you optimistic about the future of the tourism industry in Jamaica? DW: I am. Jamaica has proven its resilience under the hardest test this industry has faced, but what gives me confidence beyond that is direction. Minister Bartlett’s Tourism 3.0 framework and the 10x10x10 vision – 10 million visitors and USD$10 billion in earnings within a decade – give this industry a long-term architecture rather than a single target. Our task at JTB is execution: turning that vision into experiences travellers remember and opportunities Jamaicans can feel.

DW: New investment strengthens Jamaica’s capacity, and we welcome it. Our responsibility is ensuring that growth in room stock is matched by growth in local linkages, so expansion benefits Jamaican suppliers and communities as much as it benefits visitor capacity. That balance is central to the Tourism 3.0 framework. OT: What makes 2027 the year to visit Jamaica? DW: 2027 is the year Jamaica stands at full strength again. Approximately 80 percent of our hotel room inventory is operational today, and Minister Bartlett has set full recovery for Q1. 14 | Outlook Travel Issue 26

Where Romance Comes Naturally

Escape the Noise. Find Each Other.

Some of the most romantic getaways are not about elaborate plans or packed itineraries. They are about having the time and space to simply be together. Tucked within lush tropical gardens in Negril, Jamaica, Sunset at the Palms offers couples a different kind of Caribbean escape. Intimate, adultsonly and all-inclusive, this boutique resort invites you to leave the noise and everyday routines behind and settle into the easy rhythm of island life. Here, romance might mean waking to birdsong outside your treehouse-style room. It could be an afternoon spent side by side beneath the palms, cocktails at the swim-up bar or a quiet dinner for two. There is no rush and nowhere you need to be. Just time together in one of Jamaica’s most naturally beautiful settings.

Your Own Hideaway in the Trees

Romance begins with a little privacy. Rather than traditional hotel towers and crowded corridors, Sunset at the Palms is known for its distinctive treehouse-style accommodations tucked throughout the resort’s tropical gardens. Surrounded by greenery, each feels like a private retreat from the outside world. Start the morning slowly with coffee on your balcony as the gardens come alive around you. Return after dinner to your own peaceful hideaway. With nature just outside your door, it is easy to settle in, switch off and remember how good it feels to have nowhere else to be. For couples accustomed to busy schedules and constant distractions, sometimes that simplicity is the greatest luxury of all.

Days Made for Two

At Sunset at the Palms, doing less can become the best part of your vacation. Spend a lazy morning together beside the pool, take a dip and stop by the swim-up bar for a tropical cocktail. Wander hand in hand along pathways surrounded by palms, colorful flowers and lush vegetation. Or simply find a quiet corner of the resort and let the afternoon unfold. Across the road, the resort’s private beach club offers another place to slow things down. Sink your toes into the soft white sand, stretch out beneath the palms and gaze across the calm waters of Seven Mile Beach. Stay long enough and you may find yourselves watching one of Negril’s famous sunsets paint the sky.

Date Night, Island Style

Food has a way of bringing people together, and dining at Sunset at the Palms gives couples plenty of reasons to linger over the table. For an especially romantic evening, make a reservation at Lotus Leaf. The intimate restaurant pairs inspired flavors with Caribbean creativity for an elegant a la carte dining experience that feels made for date night. Other evenings bring fresh island flavors, Jamaican favorites and relaxed dining experiences where the atmosphere is as memorable as the meal. Follow dinner with a cocktail, listen to live island music or find a comfortable spot beneath the stars. Even movie night gets an island twist. Cozy up together for classic Jamaican cinema and enjoy a laid-back evening that feels far removed from your usual night at home.

Celebrate Your Love in Jamaica

Of course, some romantic moments deserve a celebration all their own. For couples dreaming of a destination wedding, Sunset at the Palms offers an intimate alternative to the traditional large resort wedding. Exchange vows with the Caribbean sunset as your backdrop or choose a serene tropical garden surrounded by the natural beauty of Jamaica. The resort’s romantic setting also makes it a natural choice for honeymoons, anniversaries, engagements and vow renewals. But you do not need a milestone to justify escaping together. Sometimes the occasion is simply each other.

Relaxation Is Better Together

There are vacations that keep you busy, and then there are vacations that remind you how good it feels to stop. At Ginger Lily Spa, couples can trade schedules and screens for a little uninterrupted relaxation with a couples massage. It is an opportunity to unwind together, surrounded by the peaceful tropical atmosphere that defines Sunset at the Palms. The feeling continues throughout the resort. Listen to the breeze move through the trees. Take an unhurried garden walk. Float in the pool. Sit together on the beach. Order another cocktail simply because you can. The goal is not to see how much you can fit into a day. It is to enjoy the person you came with.

Find Your Way Back to Each Other

The real luxury of a romantic vacation is not necessarily what you do. It is what you finally have time to notice. A conversation that lasts through dinner. A sunset you actually stop to watch. The sound of reggae drifting through the evening. A morning with nowhere to rush off to. A hand held while walking through the gardens. At Sunset at the Palms, romance does not need to be manufactured. It is found naturally in the privacy, beauty and unhurried pace of the resort itself. So leave the schedules, crowds and everyday noise behind. Come hide away among the palms, reconnect beneath the Jamaican sun and rediscover the simple pleasure of being together.

Your romantic escape is waiting at Sunset at the Palms in Negril, Jamaica.

Having reopened in February this year, Floyd’s Pelican Bar is back and ready to serve its iconic seafood dishes that have been missed by locals and travellers alike. An eccentric wooden floating bar that sits amongst the waves with fluttering flags and Jamaican memorabilia, this humble restaurant offers a highly authentic and rustic experience unlike any other. Once you have reached the wooden-beamed structure – either via boat or swimming – you are greeted by the charmingly eccentric owner, Floyd himself – a charismatic Rasta visionary who built the one-of-a-kind structure with his very own hands. Stories and music flow freely around the space, but don’t let Floyd’s rudimentary approach fool you, as the restaurant is a delight for the senses, with deeply delicious fish dishes that are wood-fired and crafted right before your eyes. ith its turquoise waters, white-sand beaches and unmistakable Jamaican spirit, Montego Bay is one of the Caribbean’s most inviting destinations. Along the island’s north coast, the Iberostar Rose Hall Complex brings together beachfront stays, diverse dining, entertainment and experiences designed to make the most of Jamaica’s natural beauty; a value proposition focused on offering a memorable guest experience while committing to positive tourism that cares for the environment, people and the local community. The complex comprises three resorts, each offering a distinct vacation experience. Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach is a lively all-inclusive beachfront resort with 366 rooms, direct access to the Caribbean Sea and two pools. Guests can spend their days between the beach and pool, join sports and entertainment activities, explore the underwater world with the PADI-certified diving centre or unwind at SPA Sensations. Dining ranges from Jamaican and international flavours to Italian and Japanese cuisine, while the beachfront Jerk Hut, Beach Grill and pool bar add relaxed options throughout the day. The resort will offer an adults-only experience from November 1, 2026, offering a new setting for couples, friends and adult travellers.

For families, Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites offers 319 all-suite accommodations and a premium all-inclusive experience designed to make vacations enjoyable for every generation. Children can cool off at the AquaFun waterpark, float along the lazy river or take part in age-appropriate activities at Star Camp, whilst parents can enjoy the beach, pools, non-motorised water sports or a relaxing treatment at SPA Sensations. With seven restaurants, six bars, Star Cafe and room service, the resort combines variety and convenience throughout the stay. Guests also have access to the facilities and restaurants at Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach, expanding the range of experiences available within the complex.

Completing the three-resort destination, JOIA Rose Hall is undergoing a complete transformation and is scheduled to reopen in December 2026. The luxury, adults-only resort will feature 295 suites and a renewed concept focused on elevated design, personalised service and a more exclusive beachfront experience, adding a new dimension to the Rose Hall offering. Food is an essential part of the experience, with opportunities to discover Jamaican flavours alongside international favourites and specialty dining. The resorts also reflect Iberostar’s commitment to more responsible seafood consumption. Beyond the resorts, Iberostar’s connection to Jamaica extends to initiatives that support the destination’s natural environment and local communities through the Iberostar Wave of Change movement. The complex operates under a responsible tourism model focused on decarbonisation, coastal conservation, and the circular economy. This commitment is visible on-site, where solar panels are installed across the facilities and an artificial intelligence system is utilised to reduce food waste. This dedication to the environment continues offshore at the Grange Pen Fish Sanctuary, located directly in front of the Rose Hall complex. Spanning 3.3 million square metres, the sanctuary is designed to protect marine ecosystems and enhance coastal resilience. It is one of the first fish sanctuaries in the Caribbean managed through direct collaboration between the local community and the private sector, successfully working together to restore marine habitats and fish biomass. Whether it is an adults-only Caribbean escape, a family holiday filled with activities or a more exclusive luxury getaway, Iberostar Rose Hall offers travellers different ways to experience Montego Bay, combining the comfort of a beachfront stay with the warmth, culture and natural beauty of Jamaica.

Seven Mile Beach Found on the shores of Negril, this is the obvious choice for spectacular Caribbean coastal scenery. Home to lively beach parties, hearty food from authentic beach vendors, and swaying shady palm trees, experience tropical Jamaica in style. As the name suggests, this is the longest beach on the island. Feel the warming sand underneath your feet and the gentle Caribbean Sea waves in your ears as you saunter along the stunning shoreline. Seven Mile Beach also benefits from the fact it is less developed than some of its counterparts, letting you gaze for miles ahead at the rugged dark cliffs and lighthouse or have fun in its bustling social scene. Thanks to its crystalline waves, keen snorkellers also have the chance to get up close to azure tropical fish and mesmerising coral but beware of the occasional stingrays that are known to make an appearance.

Seville Great House and Heritage Park Regarded as the birthplace of modern Jamaica, this is particularly interesting if you want to understand the country before and during European colonisation, bringing together the island’s Taíno, Spanish, and British histories. Located in St. Ann’s Bay in the north, it marks the spot where Christopher Columbus first met the Indigenous Taíno people in 1494, before playing a key part in the Spanish and British occupations of Jamaica between the 16th and 20th centuries. Today, you can learn more about its fascinating history by visiting the Seville Great House Museum, which is home to an interpretive exhibition of its history. The 300-acre Seville Heritage Park, owned by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust, serves as a microcosm of the Indigenous lifestyle and transformative years brought about by colonisation and Jamaica’s booming sugar industry. Landmark Attractions Devon House No trip to Jamaica would be complete without a visit to this elegant and magisterial mansion. Located in the heart of Kingston, Devon House was built by George Stiebel in 1894 and is celebrated for its elegant mix of Caribbean and Georgian architecture. The house was occupied by the Stiebel family until the death of George’s daughter, Therese, in 1922. Fast-forward to 1965, the Jamaican government saved the house from demolition, before it was declared a national monument 25 years later by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust. Taking a tour of Devon House, you will see an expertly curated collection of Jamaican, English, and French antiques and furnishings, transporting visitors back to when the Stiebels called it their home. Devon House is also surrounded by an elegantly manicured garden that you can take a scenic walk around before or after exploring the house. Alongside its famed architecture and gardens, Devon House features numerous gourmet restaurants and eateries – designated as a gastronomy centre in 2017. It even has an awardwinning ice cream parlour – Devon House I Scream – that is well worth a visit for a sweet treat.

Fort Charles What was once a military stronghold looking out over the Caribbean Sea, Fort Charles is an emblem of Jamaica’s storied colonial past, marked by the numerous canons that still line the restored ramparts. First constructed in 1655 and flanked on three sides by the sea, the intriguing bastion has since become landlocked as the surrounding town of Port Moresby has developed. Before becoming a British naval hero, Horatio Nelson resided in the bastion’s small cockpit for two-and-a-half years, keeping watch for enemy ships. Visitors can stand in his place at the now aptly named Nelson’s Quarterdeck.

Getting There and Around AS O NE OF the most popular island destinations in the Caribbean, Jamaica can be reached via direct flights from most international airports around the world. Airlines that fly to the island from the UK include Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, and TUI Airways; in the US, you can catch flights with American Airlines, JetBlue, Delta Air Lines, and many more. The majority of these journeys arrive at Montego Bay International Airport (MBJ) or Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) in Kingston.

36 | Outlook Travel Issue 26

Those with a British passport do not require a visa to enter the country and can stay for up to 90 days. Prefer to travel via the ocean? There are an abundance of cruise liners that either travel directly to Jamaica or stop over alongside other Caribbean islands. Providing a unique chance to see Jamaica’s unique topography, arriving by boat should certainly be considered. If travelling by cruise ship or plane, you will need to complete an online Passenger Declaration (C5) form before you enter the country.

Once safely in Jamaica, we recommend utilising the various long-distance coach providers or hiring a private driver – however, this can be a lot more expensive. Although not a huge island, the country has very mountainous terrain and narrow, windy roads, which can significantly increase journey times and make hiring a rental car trickier for travelling around. Intercity coaches offer the most affordable, reliable, and safe travel experience, primarily operated by Knutsford Express. Each coach is modern, clean, and air-conditioned, with Wi-Fi, toilets, charging outlets, and highly comfortable seating onboard.

JAMAICA T R AV E L G U I D E

Knutsford Express coaches travel between the main tourist hubs, including Kingston, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Negril, making it highly convenient and reliable service. Alternatively, coordinating with local tour operators is a great option as they organise pick-ups and dropoffs to your desired destination. Be aware that hurricane season runs from June to November, which can have a major impact on traversing the country in the event of heavy rains and wind, particularly in mountainous areas. Regarding travel money, most hotels, restaurants, and businesses accept card, but cash would still be useful for smaller businesses in local areas or markets.
