INVESTING IN LIFETIMES

Establishing an endowed scholarship in the name of a family member, friend, or organization is a lasting way to honor their legacy. Named endowed scholarships are permanently restricted funds invested to ensure the scholarship’s existence in perpetuity.

These awards strengthen The Fund’s financial foundation by generating sustainable support for Ouimet Scholars, as Named Endowed Scholarships fund 46% of the total annual Ouimet Scholarship awards.

The Named Endowed Scholarship Program creates a meaningful connection between the donor, honoree, or sponsoring organization and golf, Francis Ouimet, youth, and education. Many donors share the deep sense of fulfillment that comes from helping shape a young student’s future.

Over the last three decades, The Ouimet Fund’s Named Endowed Scholarship Program has grown to include over 200 endowed scholarships, becoming a cornerstone of long-term growth and a lasting testament to donors’ commitment to the mission.

SCHOLARSHIPS NAMED ENDOWED

How can I make my contribution? Ouimet named endowed scholarships can be fully funded up front or paid over a period of up to five years. Funding options include:

• Cash/Check/Credit Card Donations

• Donor Advised Fund

• Gifts From Appreciated Stock

• IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution

• Memorial Tournaments

• Special Fundraising Effort

What will I receive for my contribution? You’ll experience the satisfaction of helping young people achieve their educational dreams. Each year, you’ll receive information about the student(s) supported by your scholarship, along with key financial updates on both your fund and the Ouimet Fund overall. As a token of our gratitude, you’ll receive special invitations to events such as the Investing in Lifetimes reception. The donation to fund a scholarship and any additional contributions are tax-deductible.

How can I ensure that my philanthropic goals are realized? The Ouimet Fund’s Named Endowed Scholarship Program allows donors to personalize a scholarship by defining preferences. Current endowed awards support Ouimet Scholars who may be pursuing a specific field of study, work at a certain club, attend a particular college or trade school, or reflect other priorities such as supporting female or inner-city Scholars. Donors may set clear preferences or choose broader criteria.

SCHOLARSHIP AND SELECTION MANAGEMENT

Selection of Recipients: Named endowed scholarship recipients are current Ouimet Scholars who demonstrate financial need. The Ouimet Fund seeks to have each named endowed scholarship help a student with need every year, so if there are donor preferences that cannot be met in a given year, a student who does not fit the preferences will be selected.

DONATION AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Donation Level: The minimum donation required to establish a named endowed scholarship is $50,000 which can be paid over one to five years. Named endowed scholarship creators make ongoing donations to increase the impact of their awards.

Portfolio Management: The Fund’s endowed scholarship portfolio is managed by a professional financial services company, overseen by a volunteer Investment Committee, and managed in accordance with an Investment Policy Statement.

Management Fee: The Fund draws 1% of the principal each year from each endowed fund and transfers that amount to the annual operating budget. This helps offset the increasing costs associated with operating and managing the endowed scholarship program and increases our annual award levels.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Amount of Annual Scholarship: The annual amount of the endowment paid toward scholarships is 5% of the endowment principal at fiscal year end. As endowments increase through sustaining contributions, donors are given the option to distribute an amount in excess of 5%.

Multiplying Your Impact: As your fund balance grows through market gains and additional gifts, your named endowed scholarship can provide a larger award or can be split between multiple Scholars. While your balance may grow beyond the amounts shown below, this chart demonstrates how continuting to make donations to your scholarship over time will increase your impact.
