You show up every day, often early and late, managing inventory, supporting customers, training staff, solving problems on the fly, and keeping businesses running in a competitive and constantly changing industry. It is not easy work, and you are appreciated.
Whenever I go to a local store and someone remembers me or sparks up a little conversation, it feels great. These moments may seem small, but they create something meaningful: a sense of belonging and familiarity that customers return for again and again.
At its heart, a beauty supply business has always been about more than products–it’s about people. It’s about creating spaces where customers feel welcome, understood, and valued. When we focus on building genuine relationships and strengthening our connection to the communities we serve, we reinforce the very foundation that makes this industry so meaningful.
ALLYSON LEAK EDITOR
Here are three simple ways to connect with your community:
1. Create space to listen.
Consider hosting small, in-store “beauty conversations” or listening sessions. Invite a few customers in, offer light refreshments, and simply ask questions about what they love about your store, what they wish was different, and what products they would like to see that may not be there. The goal isn’t to sell, the goal is to understand.
2. Train your team to lead with care.
Every interaction matters. A greeting, a tone of voice, a willingness to help, these are the moments that shape how customers feel. Make sure your team understands that customer care isn’t an extra thing, but that it’s the standard.
3. Make connection part of your daily routine.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. You could learn a regular customer’s name and use it when they come in. You could also consider adding a birthday program where customers receive a special offer via email during their birthday month. Small, consistent gestures like these strengthen trust, and deepen loyalty over time.
The stores that will thrive in this next chapter won’t just be those with the most products—they’ll be the ones that make customers feel seen, heard, and valued.
expert ADVICE
WHY BEAUTY SUPPLY STORES SHOULD BE CREATING YOUTUBE
TUTORIALS— AND HOW TO START
When that clarity is missing, hesitation takes over and hesitation, more often than not, leads to a lost sale. For beauty supply store owners, this presents a compelling opportunity: creating YouTube tutorials that demonstrate the products already in-store. This is not about becoming an influencer. It is about becoming a trusted, visible resource.
A Practical Guide to Getting Started
For many store owners, the biggest challenge is simply knowing where to begin. The good news: you don’t need a studio, a large team, or prior experience. You just need a clear plan.
1. Start With What Customers Already Ask About
Walk your store and take note of the products people regularly question—wigs, edge control, curling creams, braiding hair, rollers. If a customer has ever said, “How do I use this?”—that’s your first video.
Start small. One product. One simple demonstration.
2. Bring the Expert Into Your Store
You don’t have to be the one on camera. Consider inviting a local hairstylist, braider, or beauty expert to come into your store and film tutorials. Set up a small station—a chair, a mirror, good lighting— and let them demonstrate techniques using the products you sell. This does two things at once:
• It creates valuable content
• It turns your store into a destination
3. Create a Simple Filming Setup
You don’t need expensive equipment to begin. A smartphone, a ring light, and a clean, well-lit area are enough. Set up a small “tutorial station” in your store—ideally with:
• A table or styling chair
• A mirror
• Neutral background (so the focus stays on the demonstration) Keep the camera steady and focused on the hands, hair, and product.
There is a subtle but significant shift redefining beauty retail and it has less to do with what’s stocked on shelves and more to do with how knowledge is delivered. Today’s beauty customer is not simply shopping, they’re also researching. They want to see texture, understand technique, and visualize results before committing to a purchase. The modern consumer doesn’t just ask, What is this? They ask, Can I use this—and will it work for me?
4. Focus Each Video on One Clear Result
Avoid trying to teach everything at once. Short, focused tutorials are easier to film and easier for customers to follow.
Each video should answer one specific question:
• How to install a lace front wig
• How to define curls using a cream
• How to lay edges with control gel
5. Speak Like You’re Helping One Customer
The tone should feel natural and helpful, not scripted or overly polished. You or the beauty expert should explain each step clearly. Mention small details customers often struggle with like how much product to use, how long to wait, and what to avoid. Think of it as the same guidance you would give someone standing right in front of you.
6. Use Your Own Voice—Don’t Rely on Reposts
While it may be tempting to repost content from influencers or brands, your store will stand out more by creating its own tutorials. Original content builds trust. It shows customers that you understand the products you sell. Yes, it takes more effort but it creates longterm value that generic content cannot.
7. Name and Brand Your Channel Thoughtfully
Your YouTube channel is an extension of your store. Choose a name that reflects your brand and is easy to remember. If you’re unsure where to start, you can use tools like ChatGPT to brainstorm:
• Channel name ideas
• Video titles
• Content series (e.g., “Wig Wednesdays” or “Style in 5 Minutes”)
A clear identity makes your content feel intentional and professional.
8. Connect Your Videos Back to the Store
Once your videos are live, bring them into your physical space. Create simple QR codes and place them next to the featured products. This allows customers to instantly watch tutorials while shopping. Now your shelves are no longer just displays, they’re interactive.
marketPLACE
Today’s customer is embracing natural texture like never before and your beauty supply store plays a key role in helping them enhance and maintain their look. Take the modern customer with short, black natural curls: she wants definition, moisture, and fullness without compromising the authenticity of her texture. That’s where the right product pairing makes all the difference. By combining hair solutions like Toppik Hair Building Fibers with moisture-rich essentials such as the Miracle Drops collection, retailers can offer a complete regimen that addresses both styling and hair health. While Toppik seamlessly fills in sparse areas for a naturally fuller appearance, Miracle Drops delivers lightweight hydration and manageability that keeps curls soft, defined, and refreshed for days. Together, these products empower customers to elevate their natural look—creating fuller, healthier-looking curls with minimal effort.

The AI Skepticism That Won’t Age Out
Here’s something nobody saw coming: The generation most skeptical of AI isn’t the one that doesn’t understand it. It’s the one that understands it best.
Every new technology faces resistance. The internet? A fad. Smartphones? Unnecessary. Social media? A waste of time. But tech skepticism has always followed the same pattern—older workers resisted, younger workers embraced, and eventually the skeptics retired and adoption became universal.
Not this time.
The Tech Skepticism Script Has Flipped. Traditional technology skepticism was driven by unfamiliarity. Baby Boomers didn’t grow up with computers. Gen X had to learn the internet as adults. They resisted because the technology was foreign. As digital natives entered the workforce, resistance faded.
AI flips this script entirely.
Sixty-two percent of Gen Z express skepticism toward artificial intelligence—higher than any other generation. Sixteen percent explicitly don’t want AI on their phones, compared to only 9% of older users. Forty-nine percent believe AI will harm their critical thinking skills.
This isn’t ignorance. It’s educated wariness. Gen Z grew up watching social media algorithms manipulate behavior, mine personal data, and damage mental health. They understand how “engagement optimization” created filter bubbles and monetized attention at the expense of well-being. They’ve seen technology companies prioritize profit over users – and they figure (correctly) that it will keep happening.
When it comes to AI, Gen Z isn’t asking “how does this work?” They’re asking “who does this benefit, and at what cost?” And they can spot AI-generated content instantly. Years of exposure to algorithmic manipulation have given them sophisticated internal detectors.

Here’s the Impact for B2B Sellers.
You already know that generational dynamics in B2B selling have gotten complex. Older salespeople struggle to connect with younger buyers who communicate differently and research differently. Younger salespeople face challenges selling to executives who expect traditional relationshipbuilding. AI adds another layer of complexity to this already-delicate situation.
“
Companies that use AI thoughtfully, transparently, and in service of genuine customer value will differentiate themselves.
Consider this common scenario: Your sales team deploys AIpowered email outreach, chatbots for qualification, or AI-generated proposals. The goal is efficiency—reach more prospects, respond faster, scale the process. But when that AI touches a Gen Z buyer, it triggers immediate skepticism.
An AI-written email isn’t just impersonal—it’s a signal that you chose efficiency over authenticity. An AI chatbot isn’t helpful—it’s a barrier between the buyer and real human expertise. An AI-generated proposal tells the buyer you couldn’t be bothered to understand their specific situation.
Here’s the mismatch: Millennial and Gen X sales leaders view AI pragmatically as a productivity tool (which it can and should be, used correctly). They don’t realize their AI-enhanced outreach is actively repelling their youngest prospects. They see time savings. Gen Z buyers see corporate shortcuts that signal low prioritization of genuine relationships.
Authenticity is Everything – and This Time, You Can’t Fake It.
When buyers doubt the authenticity of your communication, they doubt the authenticity of your company.
This hits B2B particularly hard because business relationships depend on trust. B2B buying decisions involve long-term commitments, significant investment, and organizational risk.
Buyers need confidence that you’ll deliver, support, and stand behind your product over time.
AI-generated content undermines that confidence. When a prospect receives an AI-written email, the subtext reads: “This company would rather automate than understand our needs.” When an AI chatbot handles initial qualification, the message becomes: “Our time is more valuable than yours.” When an AI system generates proposals, buyers wonder: “If they’re using AI for this, where else are they cutting corners?” And guess what? These messages are correct interpretations.
Gen Z interprets AI deployment as a values statement. They’ve watched tech companies claim to prioritize user experience while optimizing for ad revenue. They’ve seen platforms promise connection while fostering division. If your technology serves your interests at the customer’s expense, trust evaporates.
AI Skepticism Will Age In, Not Out.
Here’s the critical difference: Internet skepticism aged out. AI skepticism will age in.
Gen Z is entering the workforce now. Within a decade, they’ll hold senior leadership roles. Their sophisticated understanding of AI’s capabilities and limitations will shape how organizations approach artificial intelligence. And their skepticism isn’t going away—it’s informed by direct experience with technology’s dark patterns.
The choices you make today about AI deployment will determine whether future decision-makers view your organization as trustworthy or opportunistic. Companies that use AI thoughtfully, transparently, and in service of genuine customer value will differentiate themselves. Those that deploy AI primarily for internal efficiency will find themselves shut out as skeptical buyers gain purchasing authority.
What You Should Do
Don’t abandon AI. Use it, but use it well. The technology offers legitimate value for data analysis, research, ideation, and productivity. But deployment must be strategic and behind the curtain.
Distinguish between internal AI use and customer-facing AI deployment. Using AI to analyze customer data and identify patterns? That’s smart. Using AI to generate customer communications? That’s dangerous. The former enhances human decision-making. The latter replaces human connection.
When AI does touch customer interactions, be transparent. Don’t try to make AI-generated content indistinguishable from human communication. Acknowledge the tool’s role while demonstrating human oversight. Let prospects know that AI helped research their industry, but a human shaped the insights specifically for
Meet Troy Harrison
their situation. Remember – AI is your intern, not your manager, salesperson, or decision maker. As an intern, it’s great – it has a high IQ, it has 20 degrees, and it has no street smarts whatsoever. Your job is to give it the street smarts.
Most importantly, recognize that generational differences in AI perception aren’t temporary. Gen Z’s skepticism reflects a permanent shift in how buyers evaluate vendor authenticity. Companies that double down on genuine human relationships, transparent processes, and customer-first values will thrive. Those that view AI primarily as a cost-cutting tool will become irrelevant to the generation they’re trying to reach.
The question isn’t whether to use AI. It’s whether you use it in ways that build trust or destroy it. Gen Z’s skepticism provides the answer—and it’s not going away.

Most of us become managers because we excelled at our previous jobs, not because we had a grand vision for leadership. One day we’re individual contributors, and the next we’re juggling endless meetings, urgent emails, and lastminute crises while trying to develop our teams in whatever slivers of time we can find. Sound familiar?
Here’s the hard truth: great management doesn’t happen in the margins of your day. It requires deliberate time and attention. But here’s the good news — you don’t need a management degree to get it right. With a few practical steps, you can carve out the time to lead effectively and still keep your sanity.
Step One: Figure Out Where Your Time Actually Goes
Before you can fix anything, you need to know what’s broken. Start by tracking your time for one week — every single thing you do, from impromptu hallway chats to late-night email marathons. Look honestly at how much time is going toward reactive firefighting, how much is lost to email and admin work, how much of your meeting time is actually productive, and how much of your day is spent in real, meaningful conversations with your team.
The results might be sobering. Many managers discover they’re dedicating little to no time to actual leadership. That’s okay. This exercise isn’t about guilt; it’s about identifying the problem so you can fix it.
Ask yourself: Where am I spending time that doesn’t align with my priorities as a manager?
Step Two: Block Your Calendar Like You Mean It
Once you know where your time is going, it’s time to reclaim it. Treat management time as non-negotiable,
just like a critical client meeting or a project deadline. That means blocking time for weekly planning (30 to 60 minutes to review priorities and get organized), brief daily check-ins with yourself each morning, regular one-on-ones with each team member, and dedicated space for team development.
One-on-ones in particular deserve a standing spot on your calendar, not just a slot you fill when something goes wrong. The same goes for team development, whether that’s a workshop, a group discussion, or time to share skills across the team.
Ask yourself: Is my calendar reflecting my role as a leader, or am I letting other priorities take over?
Step Three: Learn to Let Go
You can’t do it all, and you shouldn’t try. Delegation isn’t about offloading work you don’t want to do. It’s about empowering your team while freeing up your own time to focus on higher-level priorities. Before you delegate, think through a few things: What tasks are you currently doing that someone else could handle? Who on your team is ready for more responsibility? Are you providing clear instructions and expectations? And how will you check progress without micromanaging?
Done well, delegation is one of the most powerful tools in a manager’s toolkit. It builds capability on your team and gives you back the time you need to lead.
Delegation isn’t about offloading work you don’t want to do. It’s about empowering your team while freeing up your own time to focus on higherlevel priorities.
Ask yourself: Am I delegating effectively, or am I holding on to tasks my team could manage?
Step Four: Stop Playing Whack-aMole with Problems
Reactive management is a time and energy drain. It’s like bailing water out of a boat without plugging the leak — you stay busy but never make real progress. The antidote is proactive
management: looking for patterns in recurring problems, building systems or processes to prevent issues from arising in the first place, and fostering a culture where team members feel safe raising concerns early, before they become crises.
This shift takes time to build, but it pays dividends. Every fire you prevent is time you get to spend actually leading.
Management is a constant learning process, and regular self-assessment is essential. Schedule time to reflect on what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change.
Ask yourself: Am I spending more time fixing problems or preventing them?
Step Five: Make Development Conversations Count
Conversations about growth aren’t just nice to have. They’re essential for your team’s success and, over time, for reducing your own workload. When your team is developing their skills, fewer fires land on your desk.
Come to one-on-ones prepared. Review recent work, know your team members’ goals, and ask about their aspirations and challenges. Set clear, actionable next steps and follow up on them — show that these conversations aren’t just lip service. At the team level, encourage peer learning, share skills across the group, and give stretch assignments that challenge people without overwhelming them.
Ask yourself: Am I dedicating enough time to helping my team grow?
Step Six: Guard Your Time
Your time is one of your most valuable resources, and it’s your job to protect it. Let your team know when you’re available and when you
Meet Kate Zabriskie
need uninterrupted focus time. Clearly define what counts as an emergency, set boundaries for interruptions, and train your team to handle certain situations on their own.
This isn’t about being inaccessible. It’s about being intentional so that when you are present, you can give your full attention to what matters most.
Ask yourself: Am I setting and enforcing boundaries that allow me to focus on high-priority work?
Step Seven: Check Your Progress Regularly
Management is a constant learning process, and regular selfassessment is essential. Schedule time to reflect on what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change. Are you consistently holding to your management time? Is your team performing better? Do you feel more in control, or are you still overwhelmed? These questions don’t have permanent answers — check in on them often.
The Last Idea
Becoming a better manager isn’t about working more hours or saying yes to everything. It’s about being intentional with your time and energy. Start small. Block time for one-on-ones. Carve out 30 minutes each week for planning. Build from there.
Your team doesn’t need another firefighter. They need a leader who knows how to manage time, build trust, and drive progress. The first step is deciding to be deliberate about it.
Ask yourself: What’s the first thing you’re going to block time for this week?

beauty Insider:
JACQUELINE AMORELLO AN INTERVIEW WITH
Today’s styling consumer is looking for more than just hold—they want versatility, performance, and products that keep up with their evolving routines. That’s exactly where göt2b continues to make its mark. Known for bold, high-performance styling, the brand is expanding its reach with innovations designed to simplify routines without sacrificing results. With a strong background in retail strategy and a deep understanding of consumer behavior, Jacqueline Amorello, senior brand manager for göt2b, brings a fresh perspective to the brand’s next chapter. We spoke with her about how göt2b is redefining edge styling, what today’s consumers expect from their products, and how the brand continues to balance performance with self-expression in a rapidly changing market.
What is your name and role at göt2b?
Jacqueline Amorello, Senior Brand Manager for göt2b at Henkel. How did your journey into the beauty industry begin, and what ultimately led you to the brand?
My journey into the beauty industry began three years ago when I joined Henkel on the sales strategy side, overseeing the retail hair portfolio. It was an incredibly immersive introduction to the category, giving me a deep understanding of consumer behavior and retail dynamics—especially coming from the food industry. I knew I ultimately wanted to return to brand marketing, and göt2b was a natural fit. It’s a brand that unapologetically celebrates individuality and bold expression, with a strong equity—and it’s one I personally grew up using. So when the opportunity came up, I didn’t hesitate to put my name forward.
göt2b has built a strong reputation around bold performance and expressive styling. How do you evolve the brand while staying true to its heritage?
We see an opportunity to evolve how consumers experience the brand. The core of göt2b has always been bold performance, selfexpression and individuality, and that remains unchanged. What evolves is how the brand shows up culturally, socially and experientially for today’s consumer. Today’s beauty consumer wants products that deliver high-performance results, but they also want
brands that feel involved, fast-moving and culturally connected. That’s where göt2b naturally wins. The brand already has strong equity in expressive styling and “glued” performance, so the opportunity is to expand that authority into new formats, trends, communities and experiences without losing the unapologetic attitude that makes the brand iconic.
Edge styling remains an essential step in many consumers’ routines. What inspired the development of the göt2b Glued 2-in-1 Brow & Edge Gel, and what opportunity did you see in the market?
The development of göt2b Glued 2-in-1 Brow & Edge Gel was driven by both evolving consumer behavior and a clear opportunity within the edge styling category. We recognized that many consumers were layering multiple products to achieve their desired look, which revealed a whitespace in the market for a multi-functional solution that could simplify routines without compromising performance. With göt2b’s strong credibility in high-hold styling, we saw an opportunity to bring our signature “glued” performance into the edge category while addressing beauty and customization needs. The göt2b Glued 2-in-1 Brow & Edge Gel delivers the strong hold consumers expect from göt2b while helping blend edges seamlessly for a more natural, refined finish.
How important was inclusivity in the development process, particularly when it came to addressing different hair textures and edge-styling needs?
From formulation through testing, we were intentional about creating a product that performs across a spectrum of hair textures and styling needs. That meant focusing not only on hold, but also on details like flake resistance and finish. It also meant listening closely and understanding the nuances of how different consumers approach edge styling and ensuring the product could meet those expectations without compromise.
What feedback have you received from beauty supply retailers or consumers about the Brow & Edge Gel so far?
Feedback has been very strong across both retailers and consumers. Beauty supply partners love the dual-use format while consumers consistently call out the hold level, no flaking, and precision. This item is a clear winner.
From a retail perspective, what makes the edge control category so powerful right now?
Edge control is powerful right now as it sits in the intersection of function and self expression. On one hand, it delivers a very real, everyday need keeping baby hairs smooth, polished, and in place. But what’s elevating the category is how consumers are transforming that functional step into an art form. Styled edges have become a canvas for creativity, from intricate swoops to bold, expressive designs that reflect individuality.
What role does consumer feedback play in shaping the next wave of göt2b innovation?
Consumer feedback plays an integral role in our innovation. We are constantly listening from our call centers to social media which can bring insights to unmet needs, product improvements, or important claims for us to consider for future innovation.
In a role that requires wearing many hats, how would you describe your approach to staying grounded and centered?
I rely most heavily on structured prioritization. It’s easy to get caught up in the noise with so much going on, but during those times I become overwhelmed it’s when I take a step back and level set my priorities. When doing so it’s a good reset for me so I’m being intentional with how I invest my time and energy.
What does “balance” mean to you at this stage of your career?
Balance has become much more personal over time, especially ever since becoming a first-time mom. For me it’s not about doing everything equally but rather being purposeful with my time and energy so I can show up fully wherever that may be – either in the office preparing a presentation to leadership or during my daughters bedtime routine.
If you had to describe your leadership style in three words, what would they be and why?
Collaborative, efficient, and empowering.
I believe the best ideas come from diverse perspectives, so I prioritize collaboration and open dialogue with my team. I’m also very focused on efficiency, bringing clarity, simplifying priorities, and keeping momentum strong. And above all, I aim to empower my team by building trust and giving them real ownership, because that’s when people excel.
What’s one behind-the-scenes moment from a recent launch that really stood out to you?
One moment that really stood out was being behind the scenes during our recent Non-Stop Store activation. It marked the brand’s firstever mobile beauty discovery experience designed to never stay in one place and to celebrate the power and portability of the new göt2b glued Wax Stick. Watching it come to life in real time from concept to execution was incredibly rewarding. Seeing consumers engage with the experience exactly as we envisioned made it a truly memorable launch moment.
Which göt2b product is a personal favorite, and why?
It’s honestly a tie between our göt2b Glued 2-in-1 Brow & Edge Gel and the göt2b Glued Wax Stick. The Brow & Edge Gel was a lifesaver for me as it helped tame my postpartum regrowth and quickly became something I couldn’t live without. On the other hand, the Wax Stick has been the perfect addition to my slick-back routine. Both serve such different but essential roles in my routine, so it’s a really tough choice.
Looking ahead, what excites you most about the future of styling and self-expression?
What excites me most is the continued shift towards personalization. Consumers are no longer confined to one look, they are experimenting and expressing themselves in more dynamic ways. The future of styling is less about rules and more about possibilities.

L’Oréal Paris will be woven into the fabric of the series itself alongside a sweeping multitouchpoint campaign that extends beyond the screen and into the hands of consumers nationwide.
Set in 1995, “Elle” follows Elle Woods before she became the fish-outof-water sensation at Harvard Law. Season One introduces audiences to a younger Elle navigating the tumultuous waters of high school — tricky friendships, forbidden romance, and questionable fashion choices — while growing into the confident, unstoppable Elle Woods the world knows and loves today. For L’Oréal Paris, the collaboration is a natural fit: a story about a young woman discovering her selfworth, told through a decade when the brand’s products were already empowering women to claim theirs.
The collaboration marks one of L’Oréal Paris’ most impactful entertainment collaborations to date. As a nod to the brand’s authentic on-shelf presence during the ‘Elle’ era, iconic products that reigned supreme in 1995, such as Voluminous Mascara, Colour Riche Lipstick, and True Match Foundation, are integrated into the series, appearing in moments that reflect beauty culture of the 90’s and Elle’s own self-expression. Those same products are still beloved in present day and will be spotlighted in dedicated advertising spots designed to bring Elle’s World directly to consumers across social platforms.
The co-marketing campaign created by Maximum Effort reimagines the popular ‘Get Ready With Me’ (GRWM) format through the lens
of young Elle Woods, portrayed by Lexi Minetree, as the original creator of GRWM videos. Through era-appropriate video diaries, she takes the audience through every day high school moments, revealing the beauty rituals and confidence that help define the iconic character. Beyond the screen, L’Oréal Paris is building a full 360-degree campaign ecosystem that spans social, consumer pop-ups, and largescale eventing. The brand will have a key presence at the show’s global Premiere, marking the collaboration’s marquee cultural moment, along with participation in “Elle World,” an immersive consumer experience that will transport fans directly into the universe of the series.
“L’Oréal Paris has always been in the lives of women as they navigate their most important, barrier-breaking days,” says Laura Branik, President of L’Oréal Paris USA. “There is a natural, undeniable synergy with this collaboration. Long before she conquered Harvard, young Elle Woods possessed that fierce, tenacious ‘worth it’ spirit—a flat-out refusal to let others define her boundaries. By weaving our iconic heritage products directly into her origin story, we are celebrating a character who uses beauty as a tool of self-expression to shatter glass ceilings. This is more than a cultural moment; it is a tribute to the power of defining your own worth, and a celebration of that unapologetic ‘Worth It’ spirit.”
For L’Oréal Paris, “Elle” represents more than just an entertainment collaboration. It’s an opportunity to meet a new generation of consumers inside a story that mirrors the brand’s own core belief that every woman is worth it, and she does not need anyone’s permission to prove it.
How Andis Keeps Its Edge:
A conversation with Megan Salinas on performance, trust, and evolution in grooming tools
In a category where tools are judged in real time by their performance, consistency, and results—brand longevity isn’t accidental, it’s built. For Megan Salinas, Director of Brand & Integrated Marketing, her role spans product storytelling, education, and retail support, helping translate a century-old legacy into a modern experience for barbers, stylists, beauty supply owners, and at-home users alike. We spoke with Salinas about how Andis continues to evolve its product lineup, what today’s grooming consumer expects from their tools, and why trust remains the brand’s most important finish.
Can you tell us your name and your role at Andis?
I'm Megan Salinas, Director of Brand & Integrated Marketing at Andis. My role is focused on connecting our products, education, and marketing efforts with the people who use and sell our tools every day. Whether it's supporting beauty supply stores, serving professionals, or helping consumers find the right grooming solution, my goal is to make sure the Andis experience delivers value at every step.
What drew you to work for Andis, and what makes the brand meaningful to you?
I was drawn to Andis because of the culture and the people. What makes the brand meaningful to me is the opportunity to work closely with passionate communities like barbers, stylists, and groomers. It's an industry you don't fully appreciate until you're part of it, and I've enjoyed learning their unique needs and helping support their success.
Andis has built a strong reputation over the years. What do you see as the key factors behind the brand’s continued success?
Andis has built trust over generations, always rooted in listening to our customers, and in recent years, we’ve strengthened that focus even further. We use that feedback to refine our products, respond to changing industry needs, and evolve as the market changes. That willingness to listen and adapt has been a key part of our continued success.
There’s been a lot of interest in your kits, including the Insight Slim, Ultra Trim, and Ultra Clip. What was the motivation behind introducing these bundled solutions?
We know today's consumers are looking for value without sacrificing quality. These kits were designed to provide a complete grooming solution in one package, giving customers the tools they need to achieve their desired look while making the purchasing decision simple and cost-effective.
How do these kits help simplify the purchasing decision for both consumers and beauty supply store owners?
For consumers, the kits remove the guesswork by providing a complete solution in one package. They don't have to figure out which tools work together or what they might be missing. For beauty supply store owners, it creates an easy recommendation. It's a trusted, value-driven solution that gives customers everything they need in one purchase.
For store owners, what features or performance benefits should they highlight when selling these kits?
While value is important, performance starts with the blade. A quality blade helps deliver a smoother, more consistent cut and can make all the difference in the grooming experience. Blade innovation has been at the core of Andis for more than 100 years, and that expertise is reflected in every kit we offer. Consumers get the convenience of a complete solution along with the trusted performance Andis is known for.
How do you support beauty supply stores in terms of education, merchandising, or in-store marketing?
We support beauty supply stores through a combination of education, merchandising, and marketing resources. From product training and educational content to point-of-sale materials and in store displays, our goal is to help retailers confidently engage customers and make the shopping experience as simple as possible
What types of marketing or social media content have you seen resonate most with consumers when it comes to promoting Andis tools?
Some of the most effective content comes directly from barbers and stylists. Consumers trust professionals who use these tools every day, so seeing real demonstrations, tips, and techniques helps them understand the value of the product and gives them confidence in their purchase.
How is Andis addressing the growing demand for at-home grooming solutions while still serving professional barbers and stylists?
At Andis, we’ve always focused on meeting the needs of both professionals and at-home users. Professional barbers and stylists continue to inspire much of our innovation, and we're focused on bringing that expertise into solutions that are accessible for at home users. Whether someone is earning a living with our tools or using them to maintain their look at home, our goal is to deliver the quality, performance, and reliability they're looking for.
What trends are you currently seeing in the clipper and trimmer category?
One trend we're seeing is the growing importance of education. Consumers have more information at their fingertips than ever before, but they still want the confidence that they’re making the right choice. That creates an opportunity for beauty supply stores to serve as trusted advisors, helping customers understand their options and find the best solution for their needs.
Are there any recent partnerships, collaborations, or campaigns that have been especially impactful for the
One collaboration that was especially meaningful was our partnership with Kenny Duncan on the Envy® II Clipper. Kenny has been an Andis educator for more than 20 years and has made a lasting impact on the barbering industry. The collaboration was both a celebration of his legacy and a reflection of the strong relationships we've built with the professionals who help shape our brand and inspire future innovation.
What is it about the Andis experience that turns first-time buyers into repeat customers?
It starts with trust. When customers purchase an Andis product, they expect quality and reliability, and we work hard to deliver on that promise. When a tool performs well, lasts over time, and meets their needs, it creates confidence in the brand and keeps customers coming back.
Looking ahead, what can retailers expect from Andis in terms of innovation and new product development?
Retailers can expect Andis to continue balancing innovation with the heritage that has made the brand a trusted name in grooming. A great example is the recent launch of the reimagined T-Outliner®. We took one of the most iconic tools in our history and reimagined it for today's barber while preserving the blade performance that helped establish the standard for trimmers. That's the approach we'll continue to take: respecting what professionals have trusted for generations while finding new ways to elevate performance and the user experience.

Driving Demand & Delivering Value
A Conversation with David Mohammed, Head of Sales, Skala Brasil U.S.
As Skala Brasil continues its rapid expansion across the U.S., beauty supply owners are seeing firsthand the growing demand for the brand's accessible, high-performing hair care products. Known for its inclusive approach and strong social media presence, Skala is bridging the gap between digital buzz and in-store sales. We spoke with David Mohammed, Head of US Sales, to learn how the brand is supporting retailers, connecting with consumers, and building momentum in today's evolving beauty landscape.
Can you introduce yourself and share about your role as Head of US Sales for Skala Brasil? What does your day-today look like?
As Head of US Sales for Skala Brasil, I lead our commercial strategy across key national retailers, distributors, beauty supply stores, and emerging channels throughout the United States. My role is focused on building long-term partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring our retail partners have the right assortment, marketing support, and merchandising tools to maximize sales. No two days are the same. One day I'm working with a national retailer on a new product launch, and the next I'm meeting with distributors or independent beauty supply owners to understand what's happening at store level. Everything we do starts with one goal: helping our partners grow their business while making high-quality Brazilian hair care accessible to more consumers.
What led you into a career in sales, and what continues to keep you passionate about sales within the beauty industry?
My passion for sales really started at home. Growing up, my mother sold beauty products through Avon, and as a young child I had the opportunity to attend sales meetings, conventions, and training
events with her. Watching her build relationships with customers, demonstrate products, and genuinely help people find solutions left a lasting impression on me. I can still remember bringing beauty products to school and enthusiastically promoting them to anyone who would listen. Looking back, those experiences planted the seeds for my career. Another thing that attracted me to sales was the opportunity to control my own success. Working in commissionbased sales taught me that I could essentially write my own paycheck. The harder I worked, the more relationships I built, and the more value I created for my customers, the greater the rewards. That entrepreneurial mindset has stayed with me throughout my career and continues to motivate me every day. As my career progressed, I had the opportunity to work with the Motions hair care brand, which was a defining moment professionally. It taught me that successful selling goes far beyond simply placing products on a shelf. I learned how to truly understand the consumer, support retailers, develop effective merchandising strategies, and execute 360-degree marketing programs that create demand and drive traffic into beauty supply stores. That experience helped shape my career in consumer packaged goods and reinforced my passion for the beauty industry. What continues to inspire me today is helping retailers grow their businesses while introducing consumers to products that genuinely

make a difference. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, driven by innovation, changing consumer behaviors, and the influence of digital and social media. That fast-paced environment, combined with the opportunity to build lasting partnerships, is what keeps me passionate about what I do.
What has been the most valuable lesson you've learned in your career that shapes how you approach working with retailers today?
One of the most valuable lessons I've learned is to listen before you sell. The strongest retail partnerships begin with understanding a retailer's business, their customers, and the challenges they're facing. Every retailer has different goals, competitive pressures, and financial realities, so there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. Throughout my career, I've learned the importance of being diplomatic, especially when navigating difficult situations. Whether the challenge is margin pressure, competitive pricing, inventory issues, or finding ways to grow the category, I've found that taking a step back, listening carefully, and understanding the retailer's perspective often leads to the best outcome. These challenges are real, and it's our responsibility as partners to help solve them—not simply sell through them. I believe the best business relationships are built on trust, transparency, and a willingness to find common ground. Sometimes that means getting creative with promotions, introducing new products, adjusting assortments, or developing programs that create value for both the retailer and the manufacturer. When both sides are willing to collaborate, there's almost always a path forward. At the end of the day, my philosophy is simple: when beauty supply stores succeed, manufacturers succeed. Long-term partnerships are built by solving problems together, not just closing the next sale.
What's a moment in your career that really shaped how you understand the beauty supply business?
Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work with one of the most successful brands in the textured hair care category, and one lesson has stayed with me ever since: show up and follow up. Success in the beauty supply business isn't built from behind a desk. It's built by walking into stores, visiting every neighborhood, building genuine relationships with store owners, and consistently following through on your commitments. Those experiences taught me that every store has its own customer base, challenges, and opportunities, and that the best partnerships are built through trust and consistency. Spending time in independent beauty supply stores also gave me a
grassroots understanding of how consumers discover products and what motivates them to make a purchase. I saw firsthand how store owners and employees can become true advocates for a brand when they believe in the product, understand its benefits, and see the results with their customers. I also learned that great products don't sell themselves. Success comes from the combination of education, merchandising, social media, product knowledge, marketing, and retailer engagement. When those elements come together, they create consumer demand and long-term loyalty. That early experience shaped the way I approach every retail partnership today. I still believe the fundamentals are the same: show up, follow up, listen, and always look for ways to help your retail partners grow their business.
Skala Brasil has built a strong identity around accessibility and inclusivity. From a sales perspective, how does that translate on the ground with U.S. retailers?
At Skala Brasil, one of our core beliefs is that beauty is not a privilege, it's a universal right. That philosophy drives everything we do, from product development to pricing and how we support our retail partners. For us, accessibility means making high-quality Brazilian hair care available to everyone—not just a select few. We believe consumers shouldn't have to choose between performance and affordability. Skala delivers salon-inspired formulas at an accessible price point, making premium hair care available to families and communities across the country. Inclusivity is equally important. Our products are designed for a wide range of hair textures and needs, whether someone has straight, wavy, curly, or coily hair. We celebrate the diversity of beauty and create solutions that allow every consumer to find products that work for them. From a retailer's perspective, that translates into a brand with broad consumer appeal, strong value, and high repeat purchase potential. Skala helps retailers attract new shoppers, build customer loyalty, and create an affordable Brazilian hair care destination that consumers trust. Ultimately, our mission is simple: make exceptional hair care accessible to everyone while helping our retail partners grow their business. For retailers, that means stronger value, broader consumer appeal, and excellent repeat purchase potential.
For beauty supply owners who are new to the brand, what is the Skala story they should be sharing with their customers?
The story begins with trust. Skala Brasil has been one of Brazil's most trusted hair care brands for more than 30 years and is the #1 hair care brand in Brazil. While we're still relatively new to many consumers in the U.S., our products have a long history of delivering results in one of the world's largest and most diverse hair care markets. Brazil is the third-largest hair care market in the world, with consumers representing every hair texture from straight and wavy to curly and coily. Our formulas have been developed and refined to perform across this diverse range of hair types, which is why they're trusted by millions of consumers every day. That's the story beauty supply owners should be sharing with their customers: if you're looking for solutions for dryness, frizz, curls, hydration, or
damaged hair, Skala offers proven Brazilian formulas that deliver exceptional performance without the premium price tag. Another key differentiator is versatility. Many of our products can be used as deep conditioners, leave-in conditioners, co-washes, or styling treatments, giving consumers more value from every purchase. At the end of the day, Skala brings together everything today's shopper is looking for; trusted Brazilian expertise, proven performance, multifunctional formulas, and outstanding value. We're making Brazilian beauty accessible to everyone without compromising on quality.
Skala has built strong momentum on social media. How are you seeing that digital buzz translate into real demand and sell-through at the store level?
The connection is stronger than ever. Social media is arguably the number one driver of brand awareness in 2026, and Skala is a great example of how authentic consumer engagement can build a brand. One of the biggest reasons for our momentum in the U.S. wasn't a large advertising campaign—it was organic. Consumers and
Merchandising is something I’m extremely passionate about because I truly believe great merchandising drives sales. Even the best product can underperform if consumers can’t easily find it or understand what it’s designed to do.
influencers traveling to Brazil discovered Skala on vacation, fell in love with the products and their performance, and began sharing their experiences on social media. Those authentic reviews created tremendous curiosity and demand back home in the U.S. As that content went viral, importers and distributors recognized the opportunity and began bringing Skala into the country. That grassroots momentum helped introduce the brand to American consumers and laid the foundation for the growth we're seeing today. Now we're seeing the next phase of that journey. Consumers walk into beauty supply stores asking for Skala by name because they've already seen it on TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube. The digital buzz creates awareness, but it's the product performance that drives repeat purchases and long-term loyalty. For retailers, that's incredibly powerful. Social media is creating demand before the customer even walks through the door. Our responsibility is to make sure our retail partners have the right assortment, inventory, merchandising, and education in place so they can capture those sales when consumers come looking for the brand.
What are your top merchandising recommendations for beauty supply owners to help Skala products stand out and move quickly?
Merchandising is something I'm extremely passionate about because I truly believe great merchandising drives sales. Even the best product can underperform if consumers can't easily find it or understand what it's designed to do. My first recommendation is to
create a dedicated Brazilian Hair Care destination or a branded Skala section within the store in the texture haircare section. When consumers see the assortment together, it builds credibility for the brand, encourages discovery, and increases basket size. It transforms Skala from being just another product on the shelf into a destination shoppers want to explore. The second recommendation is to merchandise by hair need rather than simply by product type. Skala's portfolio naturally fits this approach with solutions centered around hydration, nourishment, and repair. When consumers can quickly identify the products that address their specific hair concerns, it simplifies the shopping experience and increases conversion. Education is equally important. Clear signage, shelf talkers, and knowledgeable store associates help consumers understand the benefits of each collection and confidently choose the right products. And finally, always keep your best sellers in stock. Nothing builds loyalty faster than consistently having the products customers come back for. The exciting part is that we're already putting this vision into action. We're working with our retail partners to launch a national merchandising program in key markets that will help beauty supply owners create dedicated Brazilian Hair Care destinations within their stores. Our goal is to provide the merchandising tools, branding, and support needed to elevate the shopping experience and ultimately drive higher sales for our retail partners. We're excited about what's ahead, so stay tuned as we roll out this program across the country.
How does Skala support its retail partners when it comes to education, promotions, and driving traffic into stores?
We view our retailers as true partners. We provide educational materials, merchandising solutions, promotional programs, digital assets, product training, and collaborative marketing initiatives designed to help stores increase both traffic and basket size. Our objective isn't simply to place products on shelves, it's to help retailers build a destination that consumers return to again and again.
Looking ahead, what excites you most about Skala Brasil's growth in the U.S., and what can retailers expect next from the brand?
We're just getting started. The U.S. market presents tremendous opportunity for Brazilian beauty, and Skala is well positioned to lead that growth through innovation, consumer engagement, and strategic retail partnerships. Retailers can expect exciting new product launches, continued investment in marketing, stronger merchandising support, and expanded educational initiatives designed to help stores capture incremental sales. Our commitment remains the same: delivering high-quality Brazilian hair care, exceptional value, and sustainable growth for every retail partner we work with.

TIARA AMOAH An Interview with
Today’s beauty landscape is defined by intention—where heritage meets modern sensibility, and trusted staples are reimagined for a new generation of consumers. Tiara Amoah is the brand manager overseeing Africa’s Best, Kuza, and Originals by Africa’s Best—three brands that have long been woven into the fabric of textured hair care. With a perspective shaped by culture, connection, and a deep understanding of evolving consumer needs, Amoah is helping to usher these legacy names into their next chapter. We spoke with her about redefining value in today’s market, maintaining authenticity across a multi-brand portfolio, and why the future of hair care lies in meeting consumers exactly where they are.
Can you tell us your name, your role, and what brands you currently oversee?
Tiara Amoah, brand manager for Africa’s Best, Kuza, and Originals by Africa’s Best.
Can you share a bit about your journey in the beauty industry and what led you to this role?
My journey into the beauty industry started through my passion for marketing, culture, and consumer connection. I’ve always been drawn to brands that genuinely serve multicultural consumers and create products rooted in real hair care needs. Before becoming a brand manager, I’ve worked for Fortune 500 companies in the CPG space across brand marketing, digital strategy, and experiential activations, where I gained experience connecting brands to consumers both online and in person. What led me to this role was the opportunity to work on legacy brands that already had deep trust within the community while also helping modernize and grow them for the next generation of consumers.
You represent multiple brands—Africa’s Best, Kuza, and Originals by Africa’s Best. How do you differentiate each brand in the market?
Each brand serves a unique purpose and a different consumer. Africa’s Best is rooted in value, family care, and trusted everyday nourishment. It’s a legacy brand that consumers have relied on for generations. Kuza is centered around growth, scalp health, and ingredient-led solutions, particularly for consumers with type 4 hair. It resonates strongly with consumers looking for authentic, hardworking products that support moisturization and growth. Originals by Africa’s Best has a more treatment-focused positioning with targeted solutions powered by oils and conditioning ingredients. It appeals to consumers who want performance-driven care while remaining affordable.
What are the core consumer needs each of these brands is designed to serve?
At the core, all three brands are focused on moisture, manageability, scalp health, and hair maintenance, but each approach those needs differently. Africa’s Best serves consumers looking for dependable, family-friendly essentials at a great value. Kuza serves consumers focused on growth, protective styling support, scalp nourishment, and moisture retention, especially for coily and type 4 textured hair. Originals by Africa’s Best serves consumers looking for targeted treatments and solutions that address dryness, strengthening,
conditioning, and overall hair health. Across the portfolio, we really aim to meet consumers where they are in their hair journey.
How do you ensure each brand maintains its unique identity while still complementing the others in-store?
It starts with being very intentional about each brand’s positioning, messaging, and product assortment. We look closely at who the consumer is, why they are shopping the brand, and what problem they are trying to solve.
What are some of the top-performing products across your portfolio right now?
Some standout performers continue to be Kuza Indian Hemp Hair & Scalp Treatment, which has built a strong reputation for scalp nourishment and moisture support. Within Originals by Africa’s Best, our Hair Mayo continues to resonate strongly with consumers, particularly products focused on conditioning and moisture retention.
For beauty supply store owners, what are the “must-have” SKUs they should always keep in stock?
I would definitely say Kuza’s Indian Hemp Hair & Scalp Treatment is a must-have because of its strong consumer loyalty and usage versatility. It’s a gender-neutral product.
How do you support retailers in educating customers about the differences between the brands?
Education is extremely important to us. We support retailers through product storytelling, digital content, in-store merchandising, social media education, and retailer partnerships.
What trends are you currently seeing in textured hair care and maintenance?
We’re seeing consumers become much more ingredient-conscious and routine-focused. There’s growing interest in scalp health, moisture retention, protective styling maintenance, and multifunctional products. Consumers also want products that feel authentic and culturally connected while still delivering performance.
How has consumer behavior evolved when it comes to hair care routines and product selection?
Social media has also accelerated education and discovery, especially within textured hair care communities. They’re researching ingredients, reading reviews, watching tutorials, and building routines based on trends.
What role does affordability and accessibility play in your brand strategy?
Our brands are built around delivering strong performance and trusted ingredients at accessible price points. We understand that many consumers are shopping with value in mind, especially in today’s economy, but they still expect products that work effectively.
How are you leveraging marketing—whether in-store or digital—to connect with your target audience?
We approach marketing through a mix of digital storytelling, influencer engagement, community-driven content, and now instore experiences because we know our consumers love different experiences.
What’s next for your brands—are there any upcoming launches or innovations retailers should be aware of?
We’re also looking at ways to modernize and elevate portions of our portfolio that aligns with evolving consumer needs, particularly around scalp care and moisturization.
What has been one of the most rewarding moments in your career so far?
One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been seeing ideas move from strategy into real consumer experiences and creating lasting brand fans.
How would you describe your leadership style when managing multiple brands?
I would describe my leadership style as collaborative and solutions oriented. Managing multiple brands requires strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize effectively while keeping long-term brand vision in focus.
How do you stay inspired and balanced in such a fast-paced industry?
I stay inspired by staying connected to culture, consumers, and creativity. A lot of inspiration comes from listening whether that’s through social trends, conversations with consumers, retail insights, or simply observing how people engage with beauty and selfexpression. Balance comes from being intentional with my time, staying organized, and making space to recharge when needed. In a fast-paced industry, maintaining perspective and creativity is important.
Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time or recharge?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, attending other brand events, and exploring creative experiences that inspire me personally and professionally.
Conversation:
A Retailer’s Guide to Helping Customers Find the Perfect Fit
When someone walks into your shop looking for their first wig, chances are they’ve already done a little homework. They may even have a few screenshots saved—soft layers, a blunt bob, maybe something braided and effortless. But what they may not have yet is clarity. And that’s where you come in. This moment is an introduction–not just to a product, but to a process, a routine, and ultimately, a relationship with your store. The best retailers understand this: the first wig isn’t just chosen, it’s a guided process.
Start with the Conversation, Not the Product
Before you reach for a style, start with questions that feel more like a dialogue than a checklist. How does she want her hair to move?
Is she drawn to something sleek and polished, like a long, straight silhouette? Or does she want something with structure and ease, like a braided bob she can simply put on and go?
Ask how often she plans to wear it. Daily wear calls for something versatile and easy to maintain. Occasional use opens the door for more statement styles. This is also your opportunity to introduce a simple but elevated in-store tool: a color shade chart. Think of it like a beauty version of a Pantone guide, visual, tactile, and confidencebuilding. When she can see undertones and depth side by side, the decision becomes less overwhelming and far more personal.
Guide Her to the Right Style—Then Build Around It
Once you’ve landed on her look, the real artistry begins. If she gravitates toward something sleek and fluid, like the HWB115 Sahana Straight, position it as a classic—timeless, wearable, and effortlessly polished. Then, gently introduce what it needs to stay that way.
If she prefers something ready-made and protective, like the QLW317 Box Braid Bob 10", highlight the convenience. This is beauty without the time commitment, a style that holds its own from morning to night. But no matter the choice, the conversation should naturally evolve from the wig to the system that supports it.
Customer-Favorite Hair Care Picks
In today’s competitive beauty market, stocking products that consistently deliver results—and repeat sales—is key to growing your business. From strengthening shampoos that support healthy hair growth to moisture-rich styling formulas that define curls and control frizz, the right product mix can keep your customers coming back again and again. These trusted favorites are known for their quality, effectiveness, and versatility across a wide range of hair types and styling needs—making them must-haves for any well-stocked store.
Difeel Biotin Pro-Growth Shampoo
This is the perfect hair growth shampoo. Biotin plays an important role in the health of your customers hair, skin, and nails. A lack of Biotin can lead to hair loss. It’s ideal for thinning hair and hair loss for men or women. The strengthening formula leaves the hair stronger, fuller and thicker while encouraging healthy hair growth. The Pro-Growth Biotin Shampoo works to keep your customers hair color vibrant while giving their hair manageability, softness and shine.
Isoplus Neutralizing Shampoo
A neutralizing shampoo with built-In Color Alarm that adjusts the hair back to its normal pH balance.
Lottabody Coconut Oil and Shea Wrap Me Foaming Curl Mousse
This is an anti frizz foaming mousse for curly hair that deeply moisturizes, leaving curly hair soft, nourished, and brilliantly shiny. The formula ensures quick and hassle-free styling, making this curling mousse perfect for on-the-go moments and spontaneous looks. Ideal for wash and wear styles, this curl mousse is your customers all-in-one solution for defining curls, controlling frizz, and adding body and shine.
Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La Defining Curl Custard
Say goodbye to frizz, unruly curls or lifeless coils. Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La Defining Curl Custard delivers long-lasting control and definition to curls, coils, waves, frizzy hair and braid outs. It’s moisture-rich and blended with natural ingredients for healthier-looking and feeling ringlets. Curl La La won’t cause build-up, flake or leave hair stiff and dry.
Vigorol Olive Oil Mega Moisture Mousse
This is specifically formulated for hair that needs extra moisture, including chemically treated, over-processed, and hair styled with wigs, weaves and extensions. This alcohol-free, creamy foam is enriched with Olive Oil, antioxidants and multi-vitamins for incredible moisture and shine. It provides full style control without making the hair stiff or sticky. It’s ideal for foam-wrapping, wig sets, roller sets, and straw sets.
Introduce the Essentials as Part of the Experience
The most successful merchandising doesn’t feel like upselling, it feels like preparation. Start with the foundation. A quality wig cap, like the Dream A F/O Wig Cap (2PCS X Jumbo), ensures comfort, protects natural hair, and creates a smooth base. It’s the kind of detail she may not think to ask about but will immediately appreciate once she understands it. From there, move into maintenance. A wide-tooth comb, like the Dream Comb Wide Tooth, becomes essential the moment you explain longevity. It’s not just about detangling, it’s about preserving the integrity of the style, whether she’s wearing it daily or occasionally.
And finally, the Dream Wig Stand completes the routine. It helps the wig hold its shape, allows it to air dry properly, and subtly reinforces that this is an investment worth caring for. Each product answers a question she didn’t know she had.
Merchandise Like a Stylist, Not a Stockroom
Now imagine how this translates to your floor. Instead of separating wigs and accessories, bring them together. Create a visual story: the sleek straight wig displayed alongside the comb and stand that maintain it. A braided bob paired with the essentials that make it effortless to wear again and again.
Consider signage that speaks directly to her: “Love this look? Here’s how to keep it.” Or even:
“Your wig, perfected—don’t forget the essentials.” This is where retail becomes experience.
The Takeaway: Make Her First Experience Unforgettable
A first-time wig buyer isn’t just looking for a style, she’s looking for reassurance and ease. When you take the time to ask, guide, and educate, you’re doing more than completing a sale. You’re building confidence, loyalty, and a reason for her to return. Because she will remember where she felt taken care of and in the world of beauty, that’s everything.

beauty Insider: SOPHIA MIN An Interview with
What is your role within the brand, and how do you contribute to its growth and direction?
My role within the brand is centered heavily on creating an exceptional customer experience and ensuring that every decision we make reflects our commitment to serving our customers. My primary focus is making sure our customers feel valued, supported, and confident in our products and servitude. I believe that great customer service is the foundation of a successful brand. Products and services are important, but it’s the way you treat people that leaves a lasting impression. That’s why I work to build a culture where responsiveness, professionalism, and genuine care are at the heart of every customer interaction, whether it is big or small. Whether we’re resolving an issue, answering a question, or simply providing guidance, our goal is to exceed expectations and to build lasting relationships. I also contribute to the brand’s growth by listening closely to customer feedback and using those insights to improve our processes, services, and overall experience. I believe some of the best ideas for growth come directly from understanding our customers’ needs and finding better ways to serve them. At the end of the day, I measure success by the trust we’ve built with our customers and for their trust and confidence in our products. When people choose to come back to us and to continue using our products,
Today’s hair consumers want reliability, versatility, and products they can trust to deliver every time. That’s exactly where AllDay Locks continues to stand out. With a strong focus on waves, braids, and textured styles, the brand has built a loyal following by prioritizing performance without compromising care. At the center of that commitment is Sophia Min, whose role is rooted in shaping the customer experience and ensuring every interaction reflects the brand’s core values. With a deep belief in listening first and building trust through consistency, Min brings a thoughtful, customer-driven perspective to the brand’s growth. We spoke with her about how AllDay Locks stays connected to its core audience, what drives innovation, and why trust remains the foundation of long-term success.
recommend our products to others, and know that they can depend on us, that’s the strongest sign that we’re growing in the right direction. My role is to make sure we continue earning that trust every single day, it is very imperative to me.
AllDay Locks is known for its focus on waves and textured hair. How do you ensure your products truly meet the needs of your core customer?
AllDay Locks is built around a very important principle: listening to our customers and understanding what they need most. We know that when people are choosing a braid gel, they want a reliable, trusted product that delivers strong hold, clean parts, long-lasting style, and a finish that supports fabulous, sleek, and head-turning designs and styles. That’s why we focus on creating braid gels and braid care products that help our customers achieve and maintain all of their unique styles with confidence and ease, all while being infused with nourishing, feel-good ingredients. We make it a priority to listen to customer feedback and to use it to improve our formulas, performance, and overall experience. Whether it’s refining the hold, improving the texture, or making sure the product works well for different braid styles and hair types, our decisions are driven by what will best serve our customers.
The Wave line has built a strong following. What makes these products stand out in such a competitive category? I believe that the Wave Line has made an impact in its current product category due to its ability to allow for guests to have style versatility and ease of use without having to pay premium prices. We truly make an effort to make great, quality products without having to compromise on quality ingredients, and wanted to make sure that the Wave Line really celebrated the beautiful and natural textures with nourishing and conditioning ingredients.
What does a successful day look like for you and your team at AllDay Locks?
To the AllDay LOCKS team, a successful day is one where we’ve all made meaningful progress toward both business goals and the customer experience individually and collectively. In the haircare industry, success isn’t just about launching a product or hitting sales targets. I think that it’s more-so about understanding what consumers truly need and creating solutions, products in our case, that improve their confidence and daily routines. I enjoy collaborating with our team because the best ideas often come from combining different perspectives. Whether I’m working with marketing, product development, logistics, or retail partners, I think a successful day involves clear communication, problem-solving, and moving projects forward together. I also measure success by impact. If I can contribute to a campaign that resonates with customers, help improve a product based on consumer feedback, or support retail partners in better educating shoppers, that’s a meaningful accomplishment. I definitely believe that data is important, but so is listening to the voice of the customer. Understanding purchasing behaviors, emerging trends, and unmet needs helps create products and experiences that people genuinely value, and that is something that we all collectively work on together as we share and brainstorm.
What motivates you to keep pushing forward, especially during challenging moments in your career or while building the brand?
What truly keeps me pushing forward is actually the bigger picture–building a brand isn’t just about growing a business per se, it is, to me, about creating something people can trust and rely on. There are always challenges, but I see them as opportunities to learn, improve, and become more resilient. I am also incredibly motivated by the people that we serve and by the incredible team that helps make it all happen. I think that by remaining consistent, making a conscious effort to always improve, and to continue to have that constant desire to make a meaningful impact is what helps me push forward during challenging moments.
What mindset or belief has been most important in helping you succeed?
As simple as it may sound, taking full ownership has been the most absolute important mindset that has personally helped me to succeed and stay on the right path. Taking everything seriously, giving everything my all, my full attention, focus, and effort, putting my best foot forward, taking full accountability that “hey, if something goes wrong, what is it that I can do to make it go or be better” rather
than finding who or what to blame. This mindset of taking responsibility has really shifted the way I approach my work, as it has genuinely opened my eyes to being accountable for the outcomes, learning from my mistakes rather than avoiding them, and trying to set a positive example for the people around me. Building a brand comes with constant challenges, and there are plenty of situations that don’t go according to plan. Rather than seeing those moments as failures, I see them as opportunities to improve our systems, strengthen our relationships, and raise our standards. Every obstacle has taught me something valuable, and those lessons have been just as important as the wins. It is also a blessing that I am surrounded by extremely supportive people who have been nothing but encouraging and have said that running into problems is actually what teaches you a lot about the real-world. Running into the problems isn’t the important part, but experiencing the problems, assessing the problems, and learning from the problems is what is important.
Who or what has been your biggest source of inspiration on your journey, and how has that influenced the way you lead today?
One of my biggest sources of inspiration has been the people who built something meaningful through hard work, integrity, and perseverance and more specifically, my dad. I’ve always admired individuals who didn’t take shortcuts and who earned their success by consistently delivering value, honoring their commitments, and treating people with respect, and this is how my dad has conducted himself his entire life. Through him, I have also learned that trust is built over time through consistency, transparency, and following through on your word, especially during difficult situations and as cliche as it may sound, showing up no matter how hard it gets. I’m also inspired by the customers and employees who put their trust in us. Our customer’s confidence in our company serves as a daily reminder that our work has a real impact and for that, I am genuinely so blessed and have immense gratitude for each and every one of our customers because we simply would not be here today if it were not for them. Our team here is also simply the best of the best–they always motivate me to maintain high standards, continue improving, and make decisions with the long-term success of the business and the people connected to it in mind, always.
Are there any new product launches or innovations the brand is especially excited about this year?
Oh yes! I am actually incredibly ecstatic about our upcoming launch of new fragrances incorporated into our Braid Gel Line. Being able to finally launch some fun and new “variants” of our Braid Gel Line is something that I have always personally looked forward to because many of us enjoy fresh and light fragrances in our haircare and styling products. There are times where I just want it to be mellow in fragrance, as do many others, so I am also hoping for a possibility to even have a fragrance-free line, but who knows. Needless to say, our upcoming Peach Gold and Shea Vanilla Braid Gel’s are something I am really proud of and cannot wait to share it with you all. We hope–truly hope that you love it as much as we do, because well, anything peach and vanilla fragranced always manages to put a smile on my face.

Love Ur Curls®the Quiet Giant of Curl Care - is Ready to Make Noise with a Major Brand Refresh and Two New Moisture Innovations
Love Ur Curls® unveils a major brand refresh alongside two new moisture innovations, marking a decisive shift in how curl care is defined, chosen, and experienced.
For decades, curl typing has defined the category - a shorthand that oversimplifies how real curls actually behave and need.
Over the past year, the brand made a deliberate shift away from curl typing and rebuilt its system around what curls actually need: definition, volume, moisture, repair, and more. That shift now informs everything from formulation to packaging to brand expression.
At the center of this shift is a different approach to moisture in curl care. The two new moisture innovations set a new standard for hydration that goes beyond coating the hair, working from within to build softness, strength, and long-term hair health.
“Curl type was never the full story, it was just one input,” says Sahar Saidi, Founder & CEO of LUS Brands. “We’re moving away from over-simplifying hair into categories based solely on a letter and number system, and toward creating products that respond to how unique curls actually feel, perform, and change over time. This is modern curl inclusivity.”
Moisture Infusion Butter ($30 USD)
A rich, high-performance leave-in treatment designed to deeply replenish moisture and reinforce fragile strands. Helps reduce breakage while improving elasticity, softness, and long-term curl resilience.
“This isn’t about adding more product steps,” adds Saidi. “It’s about rethinking what moisture actually does for curls over time.”
Since launching in 2016, Love Ur Curls® has helped simplify curl care for more than 2 million households worldwide, selling over 10 million bottles and building a global community grounded in selfexpression and everyday confidence.
As part of this evolution, the brand introduced two new moisture innovations available now at Love Ur Curls:
Moisture Milk ($28 USD)
A lightweight leave-in moisturizer designed to deliver lasting hydration, softness, and shine without buildup or weight. Helps smooth frizz while maintaining natural curl movement and definition.
All Love Ur Curls® products are vegan, gluten-free, Leaping Bunny certified, and formulated without sulfates, silicones, parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes (and more).

ABOUT SAHAR SAIDI
Sahar Saidi is Founder & CEO of LUS Brands. She has been named to Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 and received the RBC Women of Influence Award in the Startup category. CREATING A SPACE THAT SPEAKS THEIR LANGUAGE KNOW YOUR AMPRO GEL SHOPPER:
Even subtle signage shifts perception:
“For soft control and everyday sleek styles— try reliable regular hold options like Ampro Pro Styl.”
Understanding your gel shopper helps you anticipate what they’re looking for before they ask. When merchandising reflects that reality and trusted staples like Ampro Pro Styl Regular Hold are positioned accordingly, shoppers can find solutions more easily and retailers can create a more intuitive shopping experience.
Today’s shoppers know what they want before they ever reach the shelf. Whether they’re creating a sleek ponytail, defining curls, or styling a child’s hair before school, they are shopping for a specific result. And in many of those routines, one product remains a trusted constant: Ampro Pro Styl Regular Hold. It provides dependable control, a non-flaking formula, and versatility across a wide range of hairstyles.
Understanding the Gel Shopper
There is no single gel customer. Instead, there are distinct shoppers whose needs overlap more than they differ, often converging on the same trusted products like Ampro Pro Styl Regular Hold.
The Everyday Styler is looking for reliability above all else. Their routine may be fast-paced, and their styling needs are non-negotiable. Their go-to style might be a smooth bun, a clean hairline, and a finished look that holds without stiffness. For this customer, a gel like Ampro Pro Styl becomes a daily essential.
The Natural Hair Consumer is focused on expression and movement. They want definition without restriction. Their regular routine may involve defining their curls, coils, and wash-and-go styles. Ampro Pro Styl Regular Hold offers structure without sacrificing softness.
The Parent Shopper values simplicity. Busy mornings demand products that work quickly and predictably. Ampro Pro Styl helps create neat, manageable styles with minimal effort.
The Protective Style Maintainer uses gel with precision. Whether smoothing edges for braids, maintaining wigs, or refining installs, this customer is looking for a product that keeps styles polished between salon visits, making Ampro Pro Styl a dependable option.
Speaking Their Language Through Merchandising
Modern shoppers increasingly shop with a specific styling goal in mind. This is where Ampro Pro Styl Regular Hold can become more than a product on a shelf. It becomes a familiar solution that shoppers can quickly identify when looking for a specific styling result. Rather than grouping all gels together, consider structuring your merchandising around styling intent:
• Sleek & Sculpted Styles
• Curl Definition & Wash-and-Go Support
• Kids & Everyday Styling Ease
• Protective Style Maintenance
Within each section, Ampro Pro Styl Regular Hold can serve as a familiar anchor, something customers recognize and trust.

The Art of the Refresh:
Doo Gro Helps Your Customers Extend the Life of Braids, Twists & Locs
There’s a point in every protective style where things start to shift. The braids are still in, the twists still hold, and the locs are still neat enough, but they don’t feel quite as fresh as they did the day they were done. It’s that in-between stage and for some of your customers, it’s called a refresh.
What a “Refresh” Actually Looks Like
A refresh isn’t taking a style down or starting over. It’s maintenance and it’s the small, simple steps that bring a style back to life.
For many customers, that may look like:
• Moisturizing the scalp when it starts to feel dry or tight
• Adding light oil or product to bring back shine
• Smoothing frizz around the hairline or parts
• Touching up edges or the front perimeter
• Cleaning up buildup so the style feels lighter again
And for a lot of people wearing braids, twists, or locs, it’s becoming something they do regularly like a mid-style reset.
Why Refreshing Matters More Now
Protective styles aren’t short-term anymore. People are keeping them in longer, wearing them through work weeks, travel, workouts, and everyday life. And when something becomes part of your daily life, it needs upkeep.
Where Products Like Doo Gro Fit In
A line like Doo Gro Braids, Twists & Locs is perfect when your customer needs that refresh moment. It’s what customers reach for when they want to:
• Bring moisture back into the scalp
• Keep braids or twists feeling soft, not stiff
• Add a bit of shine without buildup
• Freshen the look without starting over
Doo Gro® Braids • Twists • Locs OIL is formulated with their blend of effective ingredients including Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, and Aloe Extract to add extra hydration and seal in moisture while preventing breakage, add a silicone-free shine and smooth out frizz while protecting your customers braids, twist, and locs from dryness and damage all day.
Doo Gro® Braids • Twists • Locs DandruffControl Moisturizing Spray is blended with rich ingredients that give your customers hair maximum hydration and shine, with none of the flakes. This spray moisturizes and conditions locs, keeps a soft hold without causing flakes, and helps to relieve dry scalp.
Doo Gro® Braids • Twists • Locs Mousse is the perfect finishing touch to all of your customers’ protective hairstyles. Whether they have braids, twists or locs, this nourishing Mousse made with milk and honey will moisturize, hold, and seal their style in place without any flakes.
The Retail Side of the Refresh
For beauty supply owners, the refresh is actually one of the most useful ways to think about merchandising braid and loc care. Because customers aren’t just buying for “installation day.” They’re buying for week two, week three, and beyond. Instead of one general braid care section, it helps to think in stages:
• Before the style (scalp prep, moisture)
• While wearing the style (daily care)
• When it needs a refresh (bringing it back to life)
That “refresh” space is where products like Doo Gro naturally make sense. As a beauty supply owner, once you understand the refresh, you stop thinking in terms of single purchases—and start thinking in terms of routines. And routines are what bring customers back.

HELP YOUR CUSTOMERS BUILD A BETTER CURL ROUTINE:
INSIDE THE CAMILLE ROSE CURL LOVE COLLECTION
In the natural hair aisle, customers are rarely just shopping for a product, they’re building a routine. They want something that makes curls feel softer, easier to manage, and more predictable from wash day to wash day. And while the options on the shelf are endless, what most customers are really searching for is simple: a system that makes sense for their hair.
The Camille Rose Curl Love Collection is a perfect solution.
Curl Love: Where the Routine Begins
The Curl Love Collection is built around one core idea: healthy curls start with moisture and softness. For customers, this is often the starting point of their entire routine.
Across the collection, Curl Love products are commonly used to:
• Add lightweight moisture without heaviness or buildup
• Help detangle and soften textured hair
• Prepare curls for styling or protective care
• Maintain hydration between wash days
What makes the line easy for retailers is its clarity. Customers don’t have to overthink it. They understand it quickly: this is the “care” part of the routine.
The Everyday Curl Customer
The Curl Love shopper is not chasing complexity. This customer is looking for something that fits into their life—not something that adds steps to it.
Things they may desire:
• Wash day needs to go smoothly
• Detangling has to be manageable
• Products need to work without trial and error
• Hair needs to feel soft, not weighed down Curl Love fits into that expectation by keeping the focus on comfort
and consistency. It supports curls without trying to transform them into something unfamiliar.
Merchandising Curl Love Products as a Routine, Not a Product
One of the most effective ways retailers can position Curl Love is by shifting the conversation from individual items to routine-building. Instead of presenting products as separate choices, they can be framed as steps in a simple system:
• Cleanse & Care Prep
• Moisture & Detangle Support
• Daily Curl Maintenance
Curl Love naturally anchors the moisture and care portion of that routine.
The Retail Opportunity
For beauty supply owners, Curl Love represents something important: repeat behavior. Customers don’t just buy it once to try it, they come back for it because it becomes part of how they manage their hair. For retailers, the opportunity is simple: help customers see that clarity. Because once they do, Curl Love stops being just another option on the shelf and it becomes the beginning of a routine they trust.
Growth comes from patience, preparation, and the courage to take smart risks when the timing feels right.
