Great insurance starts with a great agent

A MESSAGE TO YOU

I want to take this opportunity to welcome all of you to the 2025-26 Oshawa Generals OHL season. As always not only a welcome to the legions of returning fans, but for all of the new fans as well. Welcome to Gens Nation!!!

The large number of players that you will be seeing on the ice this season will be coming off back to back OHL championship finals appearances. A great accomplishment but we all know we fell short of our ultimate goal of winning the Robertson trophy and going to the Memorial Cup. The real success of this years team is to return to that level. Three years ago we finished in eighth place followed by a first place and fourth place regular season finishes respectively. The first-place finish and back-to-back finals appearances were the result of the building blocks being put in place seasons before and the team growing up together. Winning doesn’t happen by accident, and it must be done by doing things the right way.

The men in charge of that will be led by Mario Pouliot and his winning pedigree in junior hockey. Mario will push these players to places they may not have been before but trusting a coach that has won two Memorial Cups the reboot should move quickly. Mike Farrugia will be in his third season behind the bench, and they will be joined by newcomer Derrick Walser who most recently coached in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels. Derrick was part of the Peterborough Pete’s coaching staff that won the OHL championship and competed in the Memorial Cup in 2023.

The hockey landscape as we know it, is changing and the people to benefit the most will be you the fans and the players. Fans will get to see young players live that they may never have been able to see before. Players with NCAA commits that may have played in other leagues to preserve their eligibility are free to explore the OHL now before going to school. Players will have the opportunity to extend their playing careers and get the best of both worlds. I suspect by the end of this upcoming season we may have half of our players with NCAA commits. However, make no mistake the OHL/CHL will remain the industry leader in producing NHL draft picks. Look no further then our own Simon Wang and Owen Griffin who had their names called for the San Jose Sharks and the Columbus Blue Jackets respectively this past June in LA.

Now you must play your part and fill this building every night. Give these guys true home ice advantage and push them to be there best night in and night out. Go Gens Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As we prepare to embark on our 88th year, we’re energized by what the future holds. While much has changed over the years, our expectations remain the same: to ice a competitive team with our sights set on returning to the finals. This year’s roster will feature an exciting blend of new talent and veteran leadership—a dynamic mix of size, skill, and relentless compete.

We can’t wait to welcome our loyal fans back to the rink and feel your support in the stands.

Starting in the new year, fans will begin to see major renovations take shape at the arena—a place the Generals have proudly called home for decades, and will continue to for years to come. These enhancements will honor our deep-rooted history while ushering in a new era of excellence, elevating the game-day experience for players and fans alike. From improved facilities to refreshed fan spaces, the upgrades will reflect the pride and spirit of the Oshawa community. This investment not only reinforces our commitment to the organization but celebrates the city we represent—with full completion slated for late 2027.

AROUND THE OHL

AS OF FEBRUARY 12TH

EAST DIVISION

PETERBOROUGH PETES

The Petes maintain their lead for the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a six-point gap over Niagara and North Bay entering this weekend.

Peterborough has taken of seven of twelve since the trade deadline on the heels of their offense, still led by Adam Novotný with eight points in his last ten and Kieron Walton bolstering the forward core with 15 points in his first 12 games as a Pete.

While there is still plenty of scoring depth to go around both up front and on the back end, Easton Rye continues to be a key factor in goal and currently shares the league-lead in wins with 28.

The Petes continue to be a fun and exciting team full of offensive creativity and are in a good spot to make it back to the playoffs. They have 17 games remaining in their season entering this weekend, but will have some key matchups coming up.

CENTRAL DIVISION

NORTHBAY BATTALION

Things are tightening up between the fifth and seventh seeds in the East and North Bay is right in the middle of it, sitting in sixth place by three points over Kingston.

The Battalion have slid a bit with three wins in ten games, but their steady scoring depth is what got them into this race. Kaden Pitre has been impressive as of late with eight points in his last five and 12 in ten.

Jack Lisson continues to lead the play in goal with a .911 SV% in his last five. He also remains top-five in Goals Against Average with 2.45.

North Bay is down to their final 17 games in their push for the playoffs – six of them coming against Niagara, Kingston and Peterborough, the teams they are competing with for positioning.

MIDWEST DIVISION

LONDON KNIGHTS

Despite selling at the deadline and gaining assets for the future, the Knights continue to stay steady in the playoff race with a comfortable lead for the fifth seed in the West.

On the heels of eleven points in his last ten, Kings’ prospect Henry Brzustewicz has taken over team scoring. Ryan Brown has also thrived with London since arriving from Sarnia via trade with 25 points in 18 games with the club – 19 of them in his last ten.

The Knights have quietly assembled a terrific two-way team throughout the season that sees everyone chip in offensively and defensively. Solid goaltending between Sebastian Gatto has also helped with the process as he is top-five in both SV% and GAA.

London has 15 games remaining entering this weekend. Not only do they have control of fifth place with a 17-point gap over Guelph, but they are also three points back of the SOO for the fourth seed.

SAULT STE. MARIE GREYHOUNDS

Things are heating up in the tough West Division, but the SOO continue to hold their ground as the OHL’s third-highest scoring team with many key contributors all season.

Marco Mignosa leads the charge – currently at 65 points – with Christopher Brown, Quinn McKenzie and Jordan Charron rounding up the top-six. Chase Reid also continues to stand out on the blue line with 47 points in 42 games.

The Greyhounds’ offensive production has been without Brady Martin for the last month, but he has since returned to the lineup following a shoulder injury back at the World Juniors to give the forward core a bigger boost.

While the Greyhounds are just seven points back of the top seed in the Western Conference, three points separate them and London for the fifth seed with 16 games to go.

GAME DAY PREVIEW

The Oshawa Generals look to win their second straight game when they host the Flint Firebirds this afternoon on Family Day.

The Gens are coming off a convincing 8-4 victory over their archrival Peterborough Petes Friday night. Oshawa netted four in the first and two more in the second to put it out of reach en route to victory.

Lucas Moore led the way with four points as did Harrison Franssen and Owen Griffin with two goals each, but scoring depth was key for the Generals that night as 13 skaters notched at least one point.

Now, the Gens shift their attention to another strong opponent in the Firebirds, who are wrapping up a three-game road stint. Flint enters play tied with Windsor for second in the Western Conference at 77 points but are also two back of Kitchener for the top seed.

The Firebirds have ambitions of a deep playoff run this year. They are led by the likes of the OHL’s top scorer Nathan Aspinall and Alex Kostov, but trades for Kevin He and Jacob Battaglia at the deadline only made their forward core even more dangerous.

It is the second and final meeting of the season between these two. The Firebirds took the first matchup in a 3-0 shutout from Dort Financial Center back in October after Mason Vaccari stopped all 26 Oshawa shots.

The Generals struggled to get past Flint’s tight defensive structure that night and did not put together many quality chances. They will hope to avoid a season series sweep from the Firebirds by taking momentum from Friday into this afternoon.

After recording two assists in his 100th OHL game, look for Aiden O’Donnell to chip in offensively once again for Oshawa. The Cole Harbour, NS, native has regained his offensive groove since returning to the lineup last month and comes in with five points in as many games.

For Flint, keep an eye out for Brighton, MI’s Darian Anderson, who scored his first OHL goal against the Generals in October. Anderson was signed by the Firebirds from the USHL earlier in the season and has been another key weapon to their offense with 40 points in 49 games.

LAST GAME RECAP

FEBRUARY 13TH, 2026

The Oshawa Generals snapped their three-game losing streak in convincing fashion, defeating the Peterborough Petes 8-4.

Brooks Rogowski remained out of the lineup, but Charlie Hilton drew back in up front as did Anthony Timmerman on the point. Peterborough dressed eleven forwards and seven defenders tonight and were notably without Braydon McCallum and Adam Levac.

Everything went right for the Generals from start to finish. It all started after Harrison Franssen turned and fired a shot into traffic from the slot and it got past a screened Masen Johnston. Playing in his 100th OHL game tonight, Aiden O’Donnell earned the primary assist.

Oshawa grabbed the lead just 1:38 in, but Peterborough netted the tying goal before the midway mark of the first after Calum Hartnell roofed Adam Novotný’s cross-ice feed from just outside the near circle for his first OHL goal.

Just over two minutes later, the Gens responded to retake the lead after Lucas Moore grabbed the loose puck on a scramble in the crease and put away the backhander. After a failed Peterborough challenge for goalie interference, the Generals took advantage on the power play with Owen Griffin stashing it home from the side of the cage.

The goals kept coming for Oshawa in the first after Franssen was sprung on a partial breakaway and he netted it far-side on Johnston for his second of the game and 20th of the season. Four goals in the first, including three in 3:30, propelled the Gens to a terrific start.

Easton Rye took over the crease for Peterborough at the start of period two and it gave the Petes some momentum, but the Generals still added to their lead a little past the midway mark after Onni Kalto roofed Griffin’s feed from behind the net on a bang-bang play.

Luke Posthumus made it six, putting it over Rye’s glove after Moore sprung him on a clear-cut breakaway. Two more in the middle frame would give Oshawa an even firmer cushion entering the third.

Griffin tipped home Moore’s point shot for his second of the contest to make it seven just 25 seconds into the final period. Leon Kolarik added Peterborough’s second, but it would be answered soon after with Vadim Smirnov joining the fun, ripping it glove side for eight.

Former Erie Otters Garret Frazer and Brett Hammond added two more for Peterborough late, but the deficit would not be enough to overcome with time on the Generals’ side. Oshawa was able to close it out and pick up their second win of the season against the Petes.

On the evening of Valentine’s Day, there was no love lost between these two rivals with tensions rising between whistles most times, but Oshawa made this a one-sided affair from start to finish.

The Generals had 13 different skaters record at least a point tonight, including a four-point game from Lucas Moore, who was awarded the game’s first star, and two-goal efforts from both Owen Griffin and Harrison Franssen.
