Four Styles of Eden Beans and Whole Grain Chili Origin stories of chili are as varied as its recipes. Chili came out of central Texas in the 1880s. In 1977, Texas law declared chili the official state food. There are no beans in traditional Texas chili; it is chili con carne (chili with meat). Chili recipes today usually include beans, tomatoes, onions, sweet bell and chile peppers, grain, sweet corn, pasta and a range of herbs and spices. For many folks, chili has moved away from factory farm meat, from chili con carne to chili sin carne (without meat). Four styles of Eden beans and whole grain chili are made in 14.5 and 29 oz. BPA-, BPS- and phthalatefree cans. Pinto Bean & Spelt Chili, Great Northern Bean & Barley Chili, Kidney Bean & Kamut Chili and Black Bean & Quinoa Chili (gluten free). Eden Chili is the only bean and whole grain chili. The beans and grain provide complete protein. The whole grain, shiitake and maitake mushrooms are chewy and replace the hamburger texture nicely. The ingredients are grown and handled without untoward chemicals, and the chili is made at the Eden
cannery Meridian Foods in central Indiana. Textured vegetable protein (TVP), a chemically refined GMO soya extract, is ubiquitous in commercial and natural chili brands, and TVP is even in vegetarian/vegan brands. Eden Chili is unique, using U.S. authentic organic Eden beans and grain, nonirradiated organic spices, no TVP, GMOs, sugar, or toxic chemicals. They are warmly delicious, pure nourishment with less sodium than others. Heat, stir, and serve anywhere, anytime. Eden Chili was honored with the Selling Wellness Trailblazer Award as a Meal Maker by Grocery Headquarters magazine. They were deemed a Best Food for Women by Women’s Health and both a Best Food for Men and a 125 Best Foods for Men by Men’s Health. This worldclass olive oil producer is launching its line of four EVOOs at the Specialty Food Association’s Summer Fancy Food Show. ONSURI will be at booth #1774 on Level 3. The Jordanian family-owned and operated olive oil company has won silver and gold medals from prestigious competitions, including a second-best worldwide ranking for their Arbosana varietal. Wellknown in the Middle East and the UK, ONSURI’s single-estate oils are produced from four olive varieties grown at the heart of the Fertile Crescent utilizing traditional European methods, including pressing the fruit within an hour of picking. Available in 1-liter tins, ONSURI’s offerings include the delicate, mildly herbaceous Arbequina; the full-bodied Arbosana boasting of tomato and green apple aromas; the Koroneiki aka “king of olives” with herbal elements and an undercurrent of green banana; and the mild and balanced Sensory. Leaves and branches are composted, and water from powering the Italian-made mill is recycled to nourish the trees. ONSURI aims to align with the UN’s Sustainable Goals for 2030. While adhering to Jordanian Labor law, ONSURI has created a Statement of Workers’ Rights to increase workers’ awareness of their rights and representation. The company is developing extensive training plans, from basic practices to more complex elements of production, to ensure clear and open communication. With a strong commitment to stay abreast of technological advancements, the family continually reevaluates and upgrades equipment and production methodologies to ensure exceptional products, efficiency and food safety. The Ricchiuti’s ENZO Olive Oil Company remains steadfast in its pursuit to uphold the family’s 100-year tradition of excellence by planting each and every tree, harvesting the crop, milling the fruit, and bottling the oil under the direction and supervision of Patrick and Vincent Ricchiuti. This prized Italian classic is fashioned in the Old World style where time-honored traditions and techniques yield a rich, complex, and flavorful artisanal treasure.
Vincent has also enhanced the line of specialty items to include handcrafted pesto, salt-cured olives, biscotti, slowroasted granola and almond butter featuring nuts and organic extra virgin olive oil from the Ricchiuti’s orchards and groves. Central Market has stores in Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano and San Antonio. “Central Market, which is really into food just like my team and I are, is a perfect grocery chain for our ice cream because Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream, like Central Market, appeals to consumers who want quality, love delicious tasting food, and enjoy exploring the world of flavors and tastes,” said Snehee Chaplot, founder and CEO of Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream. Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream is made with South Asian Mawa Milk Solids, which gives the ice cream a texture that’s creamier than gelato and a super-premium taste, Chaplot explained. “Our other secret sauce is our global flavors. We source each flavor ingredient from growers or purveyors in the countries around the world that produce the best of the best,” Chaplot said. “I’m a global traveler - I love to gallivant throughout the world,” Chaplot said. “I’m also a food scientist with a specialization in dairy, along with being an entrepreneur. I married my two passions, making ice cream and world travel, into the name of the ice cream - Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream.”
Five flavors of Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream are currently available in Central Market stores across Texas: Indian Mango, Persian Pistachio, Chinese Black Sesame, Guatemalan Cardamom and Japanese Matcha. “Consumers can travel the world while staying at home with our global flavors,” Chaplot said. Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream only uses natural ingredients in its ice cream. No artificial flavors or artificial colors are used in Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream. “We use authentic, natural ingredients – and you can taste the difference it makes,” Chaplot said. “Equally important when it comes to quality and taste, Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream is real dairy. We purchase our milk from Texas dairies that commit to using ethical and humane dairy farming practices, and we make our ice cream right here in Texas, where we live, work and play,” Chaplot added. “We want Central Market shoppers to taste Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream and fall in love with it,” Chaplot said. “My team and I make it with love, and care, and we want to share that passion with consumers.” In addition to Texas and nearby Southwest region states, Chaplot and her team are now launching Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream throughout the Western U.S., with a focus on California, the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain region.

Henri Hutin Celebrates 100 Years of Tradition & Innovation
Carl Brandt Inc. Features Mestemacher Vegan Bread
La Fromagerie Henri Hutin, created in 1922 when young Henri took over the family creamery, is excited to celebrate its 100 year anniversary as it continues to be a leading French producer and exporter of soft-ripened, pressed softripened and spreadable fresh specialty cheeses, with brands including Belletoile, Brie Couronne and Tours de Paris.
Mestemacher, famed German baker, debuts great taste and outstanding vegan nutrition with its newest creation, Mestemacher All-Natural Vegan bread. Each slice of Vegan bread contains 7 grams of fiber and is made with wholemeal oat bread with selected seeds. No flour or yeast is used when baking this delicacy. Each package contains five sliced loaves (10.5 oz.) and are made from the most wholesome, natural farmed ingredients and are non-GMO. The year long shelf-life is achieved by a natural process in which the breads are pasteurized at a very high temperature
Recognized a century later for its traditional craftsmanship, cheesemaking expertise, and ability to meet the market’s changing needs, La Fromagerie Henri Hutin has committed to using only premium milk from pasture-raised cows for its Brie Couronne range of double-crème Bries, while Tours de Paris, known for its foil-wrapped wedges of Brie, is launching an oval format (7-oz) with two exciting flavors – 3 Peppers and Mediterranean – in addition to Plain, accompanied by updated graphics for the brand. Born at the turn of the 20th century into a family of farmers and farmstead cheesemakers in Meuse, France, it was after World War I – at 22 years old – that Henri Hutin quickly expanded the company’s Brie production to meet the demand he created across France’s northeastern region, having stretched his sales territory to the nearby cities of Metz and Nancy and earning his reputation as “master cheesemaker.” Hutin’s business acumen and knowhow, combined with his perseverance – his first factory burned down and the second was destroyed during WWII – allowed his cheese company to continually evolve in its production of softripened cheeses. Maintaining a focus on craftsmanship and quality by using premium fresh milk and cream from cows in the Lorraine Valley, a region known for its agriculture and farmland, Hutin’s signature product, Belletoile, became the first triple-crème Brie exported to the United States in 1960. Monsieur Henri Hutin’s company prospered under his leadership until he retired at the age of 75 years old and sold his company in 1978 to another familyowned firm, Hochland Group (Germany). La Fromagerie Henri Hutin has retained its founder’s spirit and today not only
maintains its excellent reputation, but continues to expand and progress by developing new products and operating in a more sustainable manner, which includes renovating the production facility in Meuse, France, giving it state-of-theart status, and committing to incorporating more milk from pasture-raised cows. While the company’s dairy farmers traditionally keep their herds in pasture, La Fromagerie Henri Hutin has implemented a new grazing program, controlled by an independent test institute, specific to the milk used in the production of its prolific Brie Couronne cheeses. Not only does this program ensure the welfare of the cows, it also improves land use, nutrient and manure management, and soil health, translating into a reduced carbon footprint. Further, it has been shown that pastureraised cows provide higher quality milk, with an increase in the amount of valuable omega-3 and -6 fatty acids, molecules that our bodies use for energy and building cells. Finally, the company’s Tours de Paris brand has launched a 7-oz oval format to complement its classic 7-oz foilwrapped wedge. In addition to Plain, two unique flavors – 3 Peppers and Mediterranean – will be available in oval shape, with the full line of Tours de Paris products showcasing a new packaging design, still recognizable with its prominent Eiffel Tower. “It is with great pride that we celebrate La Fromagerie Henri Hutin’s century of excellence in cheesemaking,” said Christel Vibrac, export manager of La Fromagerie Henri Hutin. “While we have a foothold in the past, we consider ourselves 100 years ‘young’ as we are always looking to the future, just as Henri did. We’re making great strides in our effort to combat climate change, all while continuing to make cheeses that are tastier and more convenient for our customers.” About La Fromagerie Henri Hutin In 1922, Henri Hutin expanded his family’s cheesemaking business in France’s Lorraine Valley to become Fromagerie Henri Hutin and was established as a “master cheesemaker.” Renowned for its soft-ripened cheeses, the company’s signature product, Belletoile, became legendary as the first triple-crème Brie imported to the United States. Other brands exported to America include Brie Couronne, Tours de Paris and Valbrie. A century later, La Fromagerie Henri Hutin continues to produce cheeses using premium quality, locally sourced milk and holds on to the tradition of artisanal craftsmanship. Hen of the Woods Unveils New Packaging Design Snack company Hen of the Woods is pleased to announce a package redesign for their ever-popular line of kettle cooked potato chips. Enlisting the talent of long-time branding collaborators and fellow Cincinnatians Holotype, the new look features an eye-catching updated logo, emphasized word marking and a unique twotone matte and iridescent metallic layout that reflects Hen of the Woods’ one-of-a-kind flavor offerings. Expect to see the new product packaging jumping off national retailer (and virtual) shelves this month. “After four years, we wanted to refresh the personality of our brand in the eyes of consumers that mirrors who we are today,” says chief operating officer Brady DeLong. “As a small, family-owned and operated independent snack company, the fresh and refined work that Holotype produced puts us in a different league brand-wise, punching above our weight. There is nothing else like it out there in the salty snacks vernacular.” Putting emphasis on type and font size and shifting the focus to the name Hen of the Woods, the new look is designed to strengthen on-shelf presence and attract attention in brick-and-mortar stores and on screen. A prism of vibrant, updated colors showcase Hen of the Woods’ unique takes on classic flavor profiles, including Red Wine Vinegar, Buttermilk & Chive, Sea Salted, Carolina BBQ, Everything Bagel, and White Cheddar Jalapeño. “Flavor is king in the snack aisle, so we wanted to lean in hard through full floods of color on pack, and evolve away from the half-white, half-color on the previous packaging,” explains Holotype creative director, Dale Doyle. “The design architecture of the package is very strong, yet allows for new flavors to come into the current family through bold hits of color. The rings have always been a part of this quirky brand, and we
thought it would serve as a nice, dynamic backdrop to the illustration of the hen illustration. The metallic finish for the rings does a nice job of catching the light, and the ultimately, the consumers eyes at shelf.” Hen of the Woods has worked with Holotype for more than four years and has been the instrumental part of not only defining their packaging, but the brand overall. “Holotype and the people behind it are what I consider to be our secret weapon. They’ve been friends of the brand for years now and the design and strategy they’ve helped us with has taken us from a little hometown favorite to a regional household name and now to a coast-to-coast category competitor. The little Instagram message Dale sent us in 2018 led to one of the best partnerships we’ve ever formed,” recalls DeLong. Continues Doyle, “Holotype is deeply passionate about working with brands and founders that disrupt categories, and the team at Hen of the Woods were born to change the game in the salty snack category. I mean, who puts a hen and rings of a tree on their packaging for a kettle chip brand? They do, and it does a magnificent job stopping the consumer in the aisle to look deeper into why.” It has been an expansive year for Hen of the Woods. In addition to the punchy rebrand, Hen of the Woods has introduced two new dip flavors—Buffalo Ranch and Chipotle Ranch—to their product offerings. They have also launched Out of the Woods, a collection of initiatives and projects where they partner with community leaders and nonprofits locally, regionally and nationally to make a difference in people’s lives, with focuses on climate change and sustainability issues and providing small businesses entrepreneurial mentorship and support.

Whipped cream is a rapidly growing industry projected to reach $10.3 billion by 2025 and grow at a CAGR of 4.2% over the next five years. The increase in consumer demand is driven by keto and low-sugar diet trends, causing natural whipped cream to become a staple in homes. Yet, for an industry that continues to expand (with topped double-digit growth in 2021), the actual whipped cream product has not progressed in the past 75 years. Whipnotic is here to flip the industry on its can. Whipnotic is the first swirled whipped cream that utilizes its patented technology to dispense an all-natural color and fruit-infused swirl with the press of the nozzle. This proprietary technology turns ordinary whipped cream into a delicious, decadent cream for an aesthetic at-home delight straight from your fridge. Unlike most whipped creams, Whipnotic uses the freshest ingredients, including real cream, natural colors, and fruit flavors that are keto-friendly and gluten-free. “We’re putting the power of creativity at your fingertips and whipped cream is the perfect blank canvas for this highly sensorial experience,” said Tracy Luckow, co-founder and President, who also holds a Ph.D. in Sensory Science and Nutrition.
Whipnotic is led by sisters Luckow and Gitomer, along with fellow founder and adviser Elissa Harman. The management team brings more than four decades of notable branding, marketing, strategy, and financial experience. The company was granted a patent for its innovative delivery system and is also a certified member of The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s leading advocate of women-owned businesses. The WBENC’s national standard of certification is a meticulous process designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by women. Whipnotic is poised to hit shelves on the east coast this summer beginning with two delicious ice cream-inspired flavors: Strawberry Swirl and Vanilla Salted Caramel. Each of the flavors will be available for retail purchase in 7-ounce cans. Whipnotic’s unmatched flavor creates a decadent whipped cream that is unlike any other on the market. Kansas City’s famed pitmaster Mitch Benjamin has taken first place at the 35th Annual World Series of Barbecue Sauce Contest, the largest barbecue sauce competition in the world, hosted by the American Royal. Benjamin’s Meat Mitch Whomp! BBQ Sauce placed first in the Vinegar Category, and twentieth for the title of “Best Sauce on the Planet.” In the World Series of Barbecue Rub Contest, Meat Mitch Whomp! Rub placed second in the Mild Rub Category, and third place for the title of “Best Rub on the Planet.” The contest had more than 400 entries from 36 states and 8 countries. Each entry was judged in a blind tasting based on appearance, texture, taste alone and taste on unseasoned barbecue meat. “This is huge,” Benjamin said as results were announced. “I wanna yell from the rooftops.” This was not Benjamin’s first win at the American Royal. “I remember when a friend took me to my first American Royal World Series of Barbecue party. Wow! It was awesome,” Benjamin said. “Hay bales, bars, dancing, DJs, bands, Daisy Duke shorts … I was hooked.” The next year Benjamin wanted to enter the contest. He named his team “Meat Mitch” and “suckered” a few friends to help. The goal, however, was not to win, but to have an amazing party! “We had a knock-down, drag-out, kick-ass party, but somehow, we still managed to successfully submit all of our meat in the various competition categories,” Benjamin said. “Afterwards, we cleaned up, loaded up our trailer and headed back to our house to continue the party.” Later that evening, a friend called Benjamin and asked where he was. He informed him that he shouldn’t have left because Meat Mitch won third place in the Brisket Category, and they were the only team that wasn’t there to take the stage for the victory. The Meat Mitch party at the American Royal quickly grew to mythical proportions — 2,500 people with three huge movie screens and an LA-style DJ. At the with no stirring or filtering needed. Remarkably economical compared to other products, Drop It will treat a glass for $0.30 or less or a bottle for $1.42. Other products can add $2.90 per glass or $8.00 per bottle and are intended for one-time use. With no bulky packaging, the small
same time, Meat Mitch was evolving into a proper brand. “Our team started to get better and better,” Benjamin said. “We began entering competitions throughout the year and expanding our scope. We were making a name for ourselves.” In 2014, Benjamin entered the restaurant arena with the opening of Char Bar Smoked Meats & Amusements in historic Westport. And to spice things up, he rolled out Char Bar Table Sauce, a spicier version of his Whomp! Sauce. Throughout the pandemic, Benjamin started emailing weekly BBQ recipes to friends and family, and in 2020, he published the collection in a book titled BBQ Revolution — Innovative Barbecue Recipes from an All-Star Pitmaster. In 2021, he opened his first Meat Mitch restaurant in Leawood, Kansas, and along with his Whomp!, Naked and Char Bar sauces, he released three new sauces, including Stay Hot, Yellow Brick Road and White Sauce. Meat Mitch award-winning rubs include Whomp!, Naked and Steer Season. The American Royal win comes just weeks after wins from The National Barbecue and Grilling Association, where Whomp! Sauce and Whomp! Rub both took first place, Naked Sauce took second place, and Steer Season took third. The National BBQ Association, based in Tennessee, holds an annual Awards of Excellence every year in conjunction with a conference. The awards portion is an open contest to celebrate the best barbecue sauces, rubs, blogs and accessories in the U.S. In early 2023, Meat Mitch will open its second location in the new Kansas City International Airport. Travelers from all over the world will have a chance to taste Kansas City barbecue, and to take world award-winning sauces and rubs back home. “We’re still in it for the fun,” Benjamin said. “But don’t get me wrong — being named World Champion is pretty nice.” Meat Mitch is located at 3620 W. 95th Street in Leawood, Kansas. hac, who has been a cheesemaker at Lactalis for 38 years. As her talents and techniques have evolved, her accolades have increased, yet she remains humble and determined with every one of her recipes. “I always think our cheese is the best,” she said with a smile. “That’s what we aim for every time. With each batch, we want to create a taste that’s supreme no matter what. That way, you get that same fresh, creamy taste whether you’re at home, at a restaurant, or even a judge in a cheese contest.” Agnes has the highest regard for the
cheeses she creates, and she’s not alone. Some of the cheese industry’s most discerning experts agree. Recently, at the Concours Général Agricole 2022 in France, she won a gold medal for Brie de Meaux, a raw-milk cheese that’s not yet available in the United States. Agnes laughs when asked about her secret weapon in cheesemaking. “We create cheese using only the finest ingredients. So it’s really no secret.” Whether or not she wants to disclose all of her industry secrets here, Agnes does continually share her knowledge and skills with other Lactalis cheesemak-
ers. So, the tradition of great cheesemaking she has started will continue long after her retirement later this year. While solidifying the legacy she will leave behind at Lactalis, Agnes is confident of what’s to come next. “There’s a lot to be proud of here and a lot of people who work hard to make really good cheese,” she said. “I’m just happy we’re able to share what we do with the world.”

“extra virgin” from the California Olive Oil Council. Patrick and Vincent are also active stewards in the American Olive Oil Producers Association, a collective voice to ensure the integrity of olive oil production. Unlike many other olive oil producers, ENZO Olive Oil Company is vertically integrated, which means the entire growing, harvesting, milling, bottling and shipping process is completed from start to finish on-site, producing one of the freshest oils available with superior quality and taste. The olive trees – planted in an optimal climate, similar to the Mediterranean region – are carefully nurtured year-round. Once picked at
prime conditions, the olives are transported immediately from the grove to the Ricchiuti’s mill where the crush begins. When the milling process is complete, the olive oil is bottled and ready to be enjoyed by all. Another unique aspect of ENZO Olive Oil Company is Patrick and Vincent’s commitment to producing only the highest quality of certified organic and kosher extra virgin olive oil. Knowing the health and nutritional advantages of organic foods, Patrick and Vincent decided from the onset to subscribe to stringent organic and kosher farming and processing standards and principles. Drawing upon their farming expertise, Patrick and
Vincent meticulously monitor each phase of the growing, harvesting and milling process. This hands-on approach has proven to be a difference-maker in producing award-winning organic and kosher extra virgin olive oil. snacks, picnics, on-the-go lunches or cheese and charcuterie boards. What makes Briette cheeses different? Beside the mild and edible rind, these small, 4.4-oz. whole wheels are unique among the Brie wedges filling most cheese cases. With colorful and modern packaging design that truly stands out, they are the perfect size for designing fun, intricate or festive cheese boards, and have become the go-to choice for many popular cheese and charcuterie influencers on TikTok and Instagram. Another Briette innovation is the “stay fresh” packaging, which guarantees a gener-
ous shelf life, perfect maturation and consistent quality for both retailers and consumers. Like all Käserei Champignon specialty cheeses, Briette is crafted using traditional methods and fresh, alpine milk from cows that graze the lush Allgäu region of Bavaria, Germany. Naturally lactose free, gluten free and rBST free, Briette cheeses are also made with vegetarian-friendly microbial rennet. As the Briette brand continues to flourish in the U.S. market, its wide appeal and interesting lineup of flavors will continue to make waves both in store

Partnering with cheeseboard pro @SocialSpreads (aka: Amanda Starley) in 2021, the influencer developed the viral “Pumpkin Baked Brie” using Briette Creamy & Mild, a video viewed nearly 350,000 times on TikTok and Instagram and featured on Popsugar.com.
