75 Years and Growing: The People Behind the Peel How Goody’s enduring team – from the packing house floor to the executive suite – has become the brand’s most powerful ingredient. In an industry where startups bloom and fade with the seasons, Goody by Blue Banner Company stands apart – not because it’s a bold new division, but because of something far more durable: the people who have shown up, season after season, decade after decade, to do the work. When Goody launched in 2025, the direct sales aspect was new, but the foundation was anything but. Behind the fresh name stood a team forged over generations – field workers who have watched hundreds of harvests come and go, packing house veterans who know the rhythm of a season the way others know a heartbeat, and office staff whose institutional knowledge runs deeper than any manual could capture.

Premium Agricultural Products from Hawai’i The Hawai’i Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity (DAB) presents Hawai’i specialty crops at booth #2857 in the show’s produce section. Representatives are showcasing opportunities for wholesalers and distributors to purchase popular Hawai’i crops for its consumers. Specialty crops are defined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture and nursery crops (including floriculture). Much of Hawai’i’s diversified agriculture falls under this specialty crop designation. Visitors to the booth may sample Hawaii’s Ka’u coffee, Hamakua Macadamia Nuts, Maui pineapple, island purple sweet potatoes, ulu (breadfruit), basil, herbs and fruits. Commodity experts are on hand to introduce buyers and distributors to the producers of these Hawaiian specialty crops, where sales opportunities may be negotiated. Participating Representatives in booth #2857 include: • Hawaii Pacific Farms • Hawaii Ulu Cooperative • Ka’u Coffee and Hamakua Macadamia Nuts • Maui Gold Pineapple “Hawai’i agriculture is uniquely different from the continental United States in that specialty crops comprise the majority of our agricultural industry,” said Sharon Hurd, Chairperson of the Board of Agriculture and Biosecurity. “The State of Hawai’i appreciates this opportunity to share our premium
agricultural products with much aloha.” Specialty crops are grown

throughout the state of Hawai’i on its eight major islands: Kaua’i, O’ahu, Moloka’i, Lana’i, Maui and Hawai’i Island. Hawai’i’s temperatures can range from 65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, which provides an abundant supply of sunshine for specialty crops. The state’s varied elevations make perfect conditions to grow a variety of fruits, nuts, coffee and vegetables throughout the year. In addition to the warm climate, the volcanic soil on the islands is rich in nutrients, which also makes Hawai’i ideal for growing specialty crops. BrightFresh: Elevating the Culinary Experience at Home with Microgreens An interview with Marc Oshima, Senior Vice President of Sales, BrightFresh® Microgreens. PSD: BrightFresh is introducing 14 new products at this year’s show. What is driving this expansion? MO: We see an opportunity to change how consumers think about microgreens. Chefs have understood their value for years – not simply for appearance, but for flavor, texture and versa-
tility. At retail, though, consumers may still see microgreens as something specialized or primarily used as a garnish. We want to broaden that experience and show people how easily microgreens can become a primary ingredient of the foods they already eat every day. PSD: What makes the new Microgreen
Across Latin America and the Caribbean, producers of fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood, meat, flowers, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive products face the same challenge: reaching U.S. markets quickly, reliably and with cargo quality intact. Seaboard Marine is answering that challenge through one of the most significant fleet transformations in its history, combining LNG-powered vessels, greater refrigerated capacity, advanced equipment and dependable service throughout the Americas. At the center of this transformation is a new generation of dual-fuel vessels. Seaboard Marine’s V-Class ships offer approximately 3,500 TEUs of capacity and more than 1,000 refrigerated container plugs per vessel. This added scale strengthens the company’s ability to transport higher volumes of perishable cargo while supporting reliable connections among South America, Central America, the Caribbean and the United States. The transformation began with the Seaboard Blue, the world’s first containership converted from conventional diesel propulsion to LNG capability. It accelerated with the addition of the Seaboard Voyager, Seaboard Victory, Seaboard Verde and other LNG-powered vessels. By the beginning of 2026, approximately 64% of Seaboard Marine’s fleet was expected to operate on LNG. These vessels are designed to reduce emissions, improve fuel efficiency and provide the operational flexibility Seaboard Marine needs across its regional network. For cusSalads different? MO: Convenience is a big part of it. We’re introducing eight options – Micro Arugula, Micro Broccoli, Micro Watercress, Micro Rainbow Salad, Micro Asian Salad, Micro Super Salad, Micro Crunchy Salad and Micro Spicy Salad. Some can be enjoyed straight
tomers, they also deliver greater cargo capacity, modern technology and expanded space for refrigerated shipments. Investment has extended beyond the vessels. Seaboard Marine added nearly 3,000 advanced 40-foot refrigerated containers to a fleet of more than 10,000 refrigerated units. The new equipment features enhanced temperature-monitoring technology and is designed to consume less energy than conventional refrigerated containers. Cold-treatment and controlledatmosphere capabilities are also available for commodities requiring specialized conditions. These technologies help maintain precise temperatures and preserve freshness, quality and shelf life throughout the ocean journey. That capability supports products ranging from grapes, blueberries, avocados, asparagus, melons and bananas to seafood, proteins, flowers and pharmaceuticals. Dedicated teams monitor and maintain refrigerated equipment around the clock, while specialized import personnel work with customers, customs brokers and government agencies to help expedite the clearance of time-sensitive cargo. For Seaboard Marine, sustainability and service performance go hand in hand. Cleaner fuel, modern vessels, expanded refrigerated capacity, reliable schedules and more direct connections are building a stronger cold chain and a more efficient future for trade throughout the Americas. Produce Show Daily & Floral News in real time, delivering fast, consistent and objective grading that increases throughput, reduces labor requirements, minimizes product giveaway and improves pack consistency. Confidence Built on Consistent Performance “Customers are looking for equipment they can rely on season after season,” said John Albert, General Manager of Ellips USA. “Whether it’s a high-capacity installation or a system tailored to a customer’s specific operation, the common thread is confidence in the technology. Reliability and grading accuracy are what drive repeat business and recommendations throughout the industry.”
Ellips Adds Four New Elisam Potato Grading Installations Across North America Ellips continues to build momentum in the North American potato industry, with four new Elisam potato grading installations added during 2026. The Road to 40: How North Shore Living Earned the Nation’s Top Basil Brand For nearly 40 years, North Shore Greenhouses has been refining its approach to one of produce’s most delicate crops: basil. Growing hearty, lush plants is one challenge. Delivering basil that still looks vibrant, smells incredible and inspires shoppers the moment they see it in the produce department is another. That’s where nearly four decades of experience, logistics expertise and customer service make all the difference. Because basil isn’t just another herb, it’s the halo herb. If the produce department is the front porch of a grocery store, living basil is the flowerpot. Before shoppers compare prices or read promotions, they form their first impressions of the produce department. A lush display of basil instantly brings the produce department to life while also inspiring
thoughts of homemade pesto, Margherita pizza and fresh Caprese salads.
But here’s the twist: basil is also a diva. Treat it the wrong way for even a
AI-Powered Grading as a Competitive Advantage As labor challenges continue and quality expectations increase, AI-powered grading has become more than a productivity upgrade. It’s a competitive advantage. True-AI’s software-driven platform allows grading programs to be refined and updated over time, so a machine can adapt as varieties, customer specifications and market demands change. Consistent grading improves pack-out, reduces waste and helps growers and packers deliver a uniform product every time. Local Support from Installation Through Service Reliable equipment is only part of the short period of time, and the effects are visible. When shoppers see tired-looking basil, they don’t just question the herb display, they may question the freshness of the entire produce department. It’s the grocery equivalent of putting dead flowers on a front porch. That’s why North Shore believes the job doesn’t end when basil leaves the greenhouse. “We know basil requires careful handling, proper storage, correct temperatures and timely merchandising to maintain peak flavor and aroma,” said National Sales Manager Craig Moss. “That’s why we work closely with warehouses, transportation partners and produce managers to help ensure shoppers experience the freshest, highest-quality North Shore Living basil available.” For nearly four decades, North Shore has refined every step of the journey, from harvest and packaging to transportation, communication and customer service. Exceptional basil doesn’t happen by accident. It happens by design.
picture. How it is supported over its lifetime matters just as much. In the United States and Canada, every Elisam installation is backed by Ellips USA, giving growers and packers a local point of contact from initial line design through installation, operator training and ongoing service. A Track Record That Drives Long-Term Partnerships High throughput, accurate grading and reliable service are key reasons customers return for additional lines and recommend Elisam grading across the industry. For many operations, that ongoing relationship turns a single purchase into a long-term partnership that grows alongside the business. Since introducing its varietal potato grading solution in 2020, Ellips has installed more than 25 Elisam potato grading lines worldwide. The continued expansion across North America reflects growing confidence in AI-powered grading technology that delivers measurable results season after season. Discover Elisam Potato Grading at This Year’s Show Visit the Ellips team at this year’s show to learn how Elisam potato grading machines can improve efficiency, grading consistency and profitability for your operation. For more information, go to www.ellips.com or stop by booth #3532. When retailers partner with a grower who understands basil at that level, their herb category becomes a destination, their displays reinforce freshness and shoppers are inspired to fill their carts with fresh ingredients for meals they’ll enjoy at home. That’s when fresh, living basil becomes the key to that fuller basket ring. That same philosophy inspired one of North Shore’s newest innovations: the Basil Duo. “The Basil Duo gives shoppers both freshness and convenience,” said Suzette Overgaag, Co-Founder and Vice President. “Two living basil plants create an abundant, eye-catching display that delivers exceptional value, celebrates home cooking and adds excitement to the produce department.” After nearly 40 years, North Shore has learned one simple truth: Beautiful basil isn’t luck. It’s experience. And they’re putting nearly four decades of that experience into every basil plant they ship. Dutchman Tree Farms: From Seed Selection to the Retail Floor
PSD: How do your programs and services speak to the challenges and dynamics the industry is working through today?
An interview with Scott Powell, Nursery General Manager & Key Accounts Manager, Dutchman Tree Farms.
SP: Retailers today are balancing labor challenges, transportation costs, changing consumer expectations and the need to maximize increasingly valuable retail space. Seasonal products add another challenge because the selling window is short – execution and timing matter tremendously. Our approach is to take complexity out of the program wherever we can. That means dependable supply, thoughtful packaging and merchandising tools, efficient logistics, responsive communication and products designed to arrive fresh and retailready. At the same time, we believe there is a tremendous opportunity in what we sell. Consumers continue to look for authentic experiences, traditions and connections to agriculture, and few products represent that better than a real Christmas tree or fresh evergreen wreath. We want to help retailers turn that emotional connection into a successful seasonal destination.
together as a coordinated program that gives retailers flexibility while creating a strong, authentic Christmas experience for their customers.
PSD: What is the core message and what core programs do you want to introduce or highlight at this year’s show?
PSD: What sets your program apart from what else the industry is seeing right now?
SP: Our message this year is simple: Dutchman Tree Farms is your complete farmfresh Christmas partner. From our fourth-generation family farm in Northern Michigan to retailers and consumers across the country, our goal is to deliver freshness, quality and consistency while making Christmas merchandising easier for our customers. At the end of the day, our products feed the soul and fuel the Christmas spirit and memories that are cherished for generations. At this year’s show, we are highlighting our complete Christmas décor program, including fresh-cut Christmas trees, wreaths, garland, swags and other fresh greenery and seasonal décor. More importantly, we want to show how these products can work
SP: What sets Dutchman apart is our ability to combine the scale and consistency national retailers require with the care and accountability of a familyowned and operated farm. We are involved from seed selection to the field through harvest, production, packaging and delivery. That vertical integration gives us greater control over quality, freshness and timing. At the same time, we understand that no two customers are exactly alike. We work closely with our retail partners to develop programs around their individual stores, markets, merchandising strategies and customers rather than simply offering a one-sizefits-all solution. Ultimately, we want our customers to feel like they have a partner in their Christmas business, not simply another supplier.
Innovation in Every Onion: How Technology Is Raising the Standard By Bailey Myers-Hartley, Agritourism and Marketing, Owyhee Produce The produce industry has always been built on experience, but today’s marketplace also demands precision. As retailers and consumers expect greater consistency, traceability and food safety, growers are investing in technologies that help deliver premium products more efficiently than ever before. The onion industry is no exception. Modern packing facilities now combine generations of agricultural knowledge with sophisticated equipment capable of evaluating thousands of onions every hour. At Owyhee Produce, these innovations have become an important part of delivering the quality customers expect. The company has invested in advanced grading and packing technology that
complements the expertise of its quality assurance team, ensuring every shipment meets rigorous standards before leaving the Parma, Idaho facility. Innovation extends beyond the packing line. Owyhee Produce’s vertically integrated operation allows the company to manage growing, harvesting, packing, marketing and shipping under one organization. This creates greater visibility throughout the supply chain while allowing the company to respond quickly to customer needs and changing market conditions. These investments have also helped make one of the company’s most significant achievements possible: year-round availability of Idaho onions. Customers can now source premium Idaho onions throughout the year from Owyhee Produce’s Parma packing facility, giving retailers and

EPR Has Arrived – Here’s Where to Start
Sun Lovin’ Foods Unveils New 6-Pack By Patrick Boot, Chief Executive Officer, flexible films and mesh into higher fee Energy Bites at This Year’s Show NNZ North America tiers, which tempts a jump to fiber. But Extended Producer Responsibility, or EPR, is no longer a European conversation. Seven U.S. states have now enacted packaging EPR laws, each shifting the cost of managing packaging waste onto the companies that put packaged goods into the market. For most produce volume, that obligated “producer” is the grower-packershipper. And because the fees are charged on packaging weight and material – not on the value of the product inside – low-value, highpackaging crops like potatoes and onions carry a heavier relative burden than almost anyone else. The instinct is to panic and switch to whatever carries the lowest fee. Resist it. Here are three steps that matter more than a hasty redesign. First, know your numbers. Because EPR fees are weight times material, the single most valuable thing you can do right now is capture accurate packaging weight and composition for every SKU. That data is the foundation of every report you will file and the main lever you have over what you pay. Most operations simply do not have it yet. Second, evaluate total cost, not the headline fee. Eco-modulation pushes
fiber clamshells and boxes can cost two to three times more to buy and may not deliver the ventilation and stack strength perishable produce needs. A format that looks cheap on the fee schedule can be the most expensive choice once you add spoilage and shrink. Weigh purchase price, fee and performance together – never the fee alone. Third, start from the job, not the format. The right place to begin is not a fee schedule or a predetermined “green” material, but the work the package has to do: protect the product, run on your line and reach the customer in good condition. Sometimes the honest answer is that your current bag already strikes the right balance, and better data beats a redesign. EPR is not a reason to tear up packaging that works. It is one more weight on a scale grower-packers have always had to balance. Get your data in order, look at the full cost and let the product lead – and you will make far better decisions than the fee schedule alone would ever suggest. For more information, go to www.nnz.com or stop by booth #978.
West Pak Avocado Announces Organic Category Refinements and New Merchandising West Pak Avocado, a global supplier of premium avocados, announces a major refinement to its organic avocado program, unveiling a vibrant new visual identity and expanded merchandising tools. Launched over the summer after debuting at the Organic Produce Summit, the program introduces refreshed branded packaging for bagged avocados. Anchored by a new strategic direction, the company has dubbed the initiative “The Bright Side of Organic.” For years, the produce industry has relied on the color purple as the default visual shorthand for organic produce. While effective at signaling the category, this reliance has created a sea of visual uniformity across the produce aisle. West Pak’s strategic shift to a poppy, gold-yellow backdrop breaks
this convention, signaling vitality and optimism while helping the fruit stand out against traditional packaging. “This move to bright yellow is a deliberate strategy to refresh the organic avocado experience,” said West Pak Avocado Chief Executive Officer Mario Pacheco. “We are pivoting away from old industry standards to reflect the vitality of our fruit and ensure West Pak remains synonymous with organic integrity.” The new program offers retailers a practical solution to maximize their organic category performance. By differentiating products at a glance, West Pak aims to capture the attention of modern, health-conscious shoppers who view organic produce as a lifestyle choice. The health of an orchard is rooted in more than soil. It’s rooted in people, purpose and the planet. FirstFruits Farms was among the first in Washington state to plant an organic apple orchard, and its approach goes beyond organic certification. In the orchard, FirstFruits implements practices like integrated pest management, natural composting and cover cropping to build healthy soil and support thriving ecosystems. That commitment extends beyond the trees. FirstFruits invests in its farm teams through fair wages, safe working conditions, on-site childcare and early education, on-site healthcare, scholarships and adult learning opportunities. The company is 100% certified by the Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) throughout its orchards and warehouse. Located in the heart of Washington, FirstFruits Farms operates one of the largest contiguous orchards in the United States. The company’s main farm in Prescott spans more than 10 miles along a virtually frost-free corridor of the Snake River, creating ideal growing conditions for organic apples and cherries. Stretching across four counties in Southeast Washington,

FirstFruits manages every step of the process, from growing and harvesting to packing, distribution, sales and marketing. This helps maintain the integrity of its organic program while providing transparency, consistency and confidence for retail partners. This approach ensures that every FirstFruits organic apple reflects a commitment to quality, responsible growing practices and the people who make each harvest possible. From the orchard to the store shelf, FirstFruits is focused on producing excellent organic fruit while protecting the land for future generations. Quality, Consistency and Innovation Drive Growth at Plant Grow Harvest In today’s competitive produce environment, retailers need more than a supplier. They need a partner committed to delivering consistent quality, reliable execution and innovative solutions that help drive category growth. Plant Grow Harvest continues to strengthen its position as a trusted retail partner by focusing on the fundamentals that matter most: freshness, consistency, quality and innovation. These pillars guide the company’s approach from sourcing and production to customer service and category support. “Success starts with consistency,” said Dave Yeager, Chief Sales Officer of Plant Grow Harvest (PGH). “Retailers need partners they can count on every
day. While innovation is important, it has to be backed by dependable execution, strong communication and a commitment to quality.” Rooted in its mission to support customers through every stage of the supply chain, PGH works closely with retail partners to identify opportunities for growth through consumer-focused product development, merchandising solutions and category insights. By remaining responsive to evolving consumer preferences, the company continues to bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to the marketplace. For Plant Grow Harvest, innovation is more than introducing something new. It is about creating meaningful
In a grocery market crowded with major brands – and at a time when consumers are paying closer attention than ever to what is actually inside the bottle – Bella Sun Luci®’s Sonoma Vinaigrette Made with 100% Olive Oil met authenticity standards in independent research conducted by the University of California, Davis. Published in Applied Food Research by researchers from the UC Davis Department of Food Science and Technology, the study examined processed foods marketed as containing avocado or olive oil. Using established analytical methods, researchers evaluated products to determine whether the oils being used matched what consumers were promised on the label. For Bella Sun Luci, the findings feel like long-overdue recognition. For nearly four decades, olive oil has been part of the company’s identity – not a response to today’s no-seed-oil movement or a recent consumer trend. From its signature sun-dried tomatoes packed in olive oil to its 100% Olive Oil Vinaigrettes, Bella Sun Luci has consistently chosen premium ingredients even when less expensive alternatives were available. Bella Sun Luci Sonoma Vinaigrette Made with 100% Olive Oil met the UC Davis researchers’ authenticity standards in both samples tested. “As a family-owned and operated company, our name is on every bottle we produce,” said Mary Mooney. “There is a personal responsibility that
comes with that. Consumers deserve to receive exactly what they believe they are purchasing. After 40 years of standing behind olive oil and premium ingredients, we are incredibly proud to see independent research recognize that commitment.” For the Mooney family, premium ingredients are a family tradition. That philosophy has guided the company through decades of changing food trends and is especially relevant today as shoppers increasingly seek authentic olive oil, recognizable ingredients and products made without seed oils. What consumers are asking for today is what Bella Sun Luci has believed in for nearly 40 years: quality ingredients matter, authenticity matters and the label should tell the truth. For retailers, the UC Davis findings provide further validation of a family company that has built its reputation one product at a time. “For 40 years, we’ve invested in quality over shortcuts. Long before consumers were asking what kind of oil was in their food, we were committed to using olive oil. It takes longer to build a brand with premium ingredients, but retailers and customers recognize the difference over time,” said Mary Mooney. solutions that help retail partners meet shopper needs, drive engagement and build long-term success. At the same time, the company remains deeply committed to maintaining the quality and consistency that customers have come to expect. Through strong grower relationships, operational excellence and a focus on continuous improvement, PGH continues to deliver products retailers can trust. As the company looks ahead, it remains focused on expanding partnerships, supporting customer growth and advancing innovation throughout the category. Building on its momentum, PGH will also be exhibiting at this
year’s show following recognition as a Best First-Time Exhibitor at last year’s event. The company looks forward to connecting with industry partners and continuing to showcase the innovation, quality and customer-first mindset that define its business. “We’re proud of the momentum we’re building, but we’re most proud of the relationships behind it,” commented Yeager. “Our goal is simple: help our customers succeed through quality products, innovative thinking and dependable partnership.”

Consumers Want More Than an Apple – They Want an Experience By Jessica Wells, Executive Director, Crunch Time Apple Growers
Solving EDI Without the Headache: Fusionware + Starfish EDI is supposed to make trading with retailers and distributors easier. For a lot of produce and perishables operations, it has done the opposite – a tangle of retailer-specific mapping requirements, manual exception handling and “why did this order fail” phone calls that eat up hours every week. Miss a transaction or send it in the wrong format, and the result is often a chargeback that eats straight into margin on a load that already shipped. Fusionware’s new partnership with Starfish is built to take that headache off the table. Instead of treating EDI as a bolton system that has to be manually reconciled against orders, inventory and invoicing, the integration connects Starfish’s EDI network directly into Fusionware. Orders, invoices and advance ship notices flow automatically between systems, so exceptions get caught and resolved before they turn into a deduction, not after, and without someone rekeying data or chasing down a missing transaction. For growers, packers and distributors juggling dozens of retailer-specific requirements, that means fewer manual touchpoints, faster order-to-cash
cycles and far less time spent troubleshooting failed transactions after the fact. It also means EDI compliance stops being a specialized skill locked in one person’s head and becomes something the system simply handles, regardless of who’s covering the desk that week. The partnership is live now, and current Fusionware customers are already routing EDI transactions through the integration during peak shipping weeks – historically the point where manual EDI processes are most likely to break down. For operations still managing EDI through spreadsheets, manual uploads or a patchwork of point solutions, it is a preview of what “the system just handles it” can actually look like. It is one more piece of a broader idea behind Fusionware: the systems a produce or perishables business relies on should connect to each other automatically, instead of asking someone on staff to be the connection. Fusionware and Starfish: making EDI one less thing to manage. For more information, go to www .fusionware.com, call 208.557.9056, email sales@fusionware.com or stop by booth #3108.
Completing the Packaging Process For many fresh produce companies, the focus of automation has traditionally been on the final step of the production line: palletizing. Yet the efficiency of an end-of-line system is largely determined by everything that happens before products reach the palletizer. Accurate weighing, reliable bag handling and consistent bag closing all contribute to production speed, product quality and overall line performance. Integrating these packaging steps into one automated workflow helps reduce manual handling, improve process consistency and sim-
plify daily operations. To support this approach, Verbruggen Palletizing Solutions has expanded its portfolio with the V-Load, V-Weigh and V-Pack. Each machine automates a specific stage of the packaging process and is designed to integrate with Verbruggen’s palletizing systems. From Empty Bag to Filled Bag The process starts with the V-Load, which automatically picks and positions empty bags for filling. Automating this repetitive task helps maintain a continuous production
Not that long ago, shoppers walked into the grocery, took a look at all the varieties of apples, checked the price and grabbed a bag of Honeycrisp – they knew it, and they liked it, it was pretty straightforward.
But shoppers are changing, and so is the way they think about their purchases. Today, especially among younger consumers, shoppers are looking for products that fit their lifestyles. They respond to brands with personality, products that feel relevant and experiences that give them something to remember. This creates an opportunity in the produce department. Enter SnapDragon apples. With its spicy-sweet flavor, Monster Crunch and adventure ready personality, SnapDragon offers more than a variety name shoppers may or may not recognize. The brand gives consumers another reason to engage flow while reducing operator involvement. Next, the V-Weigh accurately fills each bag with the required product weight. Consistent weighing improves product quality, minimizes giveaway and provides a reliable basis for the following packaging steps. Preparing for Palletizing Once filled, bags move to the V-Pack, where they are securely closed and prepared for palletizing. This creates a smooth transition between packaging and the final stage of the production line. Integrated with Verbruggen palletizing systems, the packaging process continues without interruption: from an empty bag to a finished pallet.
with an apple, whether that is through its marketing, packaging or the experience around it. That idea comes to life through experiential marketing. This year, SnapDragon is taking adventure ready beyond the grocery store, including a halftime campaign working with youth sports – a campaign providing the opportunity to introduce sports families to the brand in a setting that feels active, fun and natural. That’s also on display at this year’s show. At booth #2065, SnapDragon has created a space designed to feel different from the typical trade show booth, with a surfboard, bike, hammock and, of course, plenty of apples to sample. You can even dip your slice into a variety of specialty sauces. The thinking is simple. If consumers connect with a brand, they are more likely to remember it. And when they remember it, they are more likely to look for it the next time they are shopping. That matters for retailers, too. A brand with personality can help make the produce department more engaging and give shoppers another reason to stop at the display. SnapDragon is an apple brand that connects with how consumers shop today. The apple still has to taste great, of course. But the experience around it can make a difference. For more information, go to www.snap dragonapple.com, call 716.300.8522 or stop by booth #2065. Built Around the Production Line Not every customer starts with a completely new installation. Some expand an existing palletizing line, while others invest in a fully integrated project. The modular design of the V-Load, VWeigh and V-Pack allows both approaches. By combining packaging automation and palletizing within one solution, growers and packers work with a single supplier for engineering, integration, installation and service. The result is a coordinated end-of-line system designed to improve efficiency today while providing flexibility for future expansion. For more information, go to www .verbruggen-palletizing.com, call 509.531.7350 or stop by booth #2520.

Arlene Resource Management Handles H-2A End to End By Beth VanDrie, General Manager, Arlene Resource Management Labor remains one of the toughest challenges facing growers. But the real strain isn’t only finding workers, it’s everything that comes with them. The applications and deadlines. The housing inspections. The transportation logistics. The payroll and recordkeeping. For most operations, managing a seasonal workforce means pulling time and attention away from the crop. Arlene Resource Management (ARM), a licensed farm labor contractor based in Michigan, exists to take that weight off growers entirely. ARM manages every aspect of the H-2A program: recruiting and onboarding, hous-
ing, transportation, payroll and compliance as a single turnkey solution. Growers work with one partner and one point of contact, and crews arrive ready to work. That turnkey approach is what separates ARM from piecemeal labor help. Rather than handing a grower a stack
The specialty produce aisle is not one category so much as a collection of food traditions. Tropical fruits, roots, herbs, peppers and vegetables can serve very different consumers, cuisines and occasions – and that diversity is precisely what makes the category valuable. Belen Trading has built its wholesale business around that breadth. Based in South Florida, the company handles an assortment that can include rambutan, dragon fruit, longan, lychee, cherimoya, mangosteen and soursop alongside plantains, mangoes, green papaya, yucca, eddoes, okra, ginger, bitter melon, culantro and specialty peppers. For produce buyers, a broad assortment can simplify the work of developing a specialty program. A retailer may want visually distinctive tropical fruit to create excitement, but the same department also needs dependable items that customers use in traditional recipes week after week. A wholesaler serving multiple customer types may need an even wider mix. The result is a category where familiarity and discovery sit side by side. Plantains and yucca may be pantry staples for one household. Rambutan or mangosteen may be a of paperwork and a list of next steps, ARM owns the process end to end: the program filings and required documentation, the deadlines that can’t slip, the housing and safety standards that have to be met, and the wage and reporting rules that follow. Growers stay informed without having to become experts in the programs themselves. ARM also builds for the long term. Clients are able to bring back trusted workers year after year, while ARM continues developing dependable teams through family and community networks. That continuity reduces turnover, strengthens reliability and produces crews that already understand each operation’s expectations, which means less retraining and less supervision every season.
new experience for another. Green papaya may be purchased for a specific preparation, while dragon fruit may be chosen because its appearance makes a fruit platter memorable. That mix also creates opportunities for thoughtful merchandising. Grouping complementary products, providing clear names and offering
basic preparation guidance can make a specialty set easier to shop. For customers already familiar with the products, good assortment and condition matter most; for new shoppers, a small amount of education can encourage exploration. Belen Trading’s role is to connect those needs with a portfolio built around tropical and specialty produce. The company’s location in the Miami area places it close to one of the country’s most diverse produce markets and to customers who understand the importance of authentic specialty items. For more information, go to www.belen trading.com or stop by booth #982. As agriculture continues to evolve, and as demand for greenhouse and controlled environment production grows, ARM’s model goes well beyond a short-term fix. By combining full-service program management with genuine partnership, ARM gives growers a workforce they can count on and one less thing to manage. Altar Produce (Cont’d. from p. 1)
EV: Our current strategy combines traditional B2B produce marketing with a more approachable, consumer-oriented way of communicating. At the same time, we want fresh produce to feel exciting and accessible.
EV: Altar Produce is a third-generation, family-owned fresh produce company with more than 25 years of experience growing, packing, marketing and distributing fresh vegetables. Since 1998, we have built our business around strong grower relationships, dependable supply programs and a commitment to quality and food safety. PSD: What would you say makes your company unique? EV: Our year-round programs are supported by experienced growing teams, certified facilities, strong production and packing infrastructure. At the same time, we remain a family-owned company that places a great deal of importance on responsiveness and personal relationships. PSD: What was your program last year? EV: For asparagus, our multi-region sourcing strategy allowed us to transition between growing regions and origins throughout the year while maintaining continuity for customers. For green onions, our Mexican program continued to provide consistent weekly production throughout the year. PSD: What was the most significant event or series of events affecting your company in the past year? EV: Weather variability and the changing dynamics of the produce supply chain continued to have a major influence on our business. For Altar Produce, operating across multiple growing regions has helped us respond to these challenges. PSD: Did your marketing strategy in the past year provide you the overall position you had projected? EV: Yes, we believe our marketing strategy over the past year has helped us achieve the position we were working toward. We want our marketing to encourage greater consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables and promote a healthier lifestyle in a way that feels approachable, enjoyable and realistic. PSD: Describe your company’s current marketing strategy.
PSD: What do you anticipate to be your greatest challenge in the year ahead? EV: Weather variability will continue to be one of the industry’s biggest challenges. Unusual temperatures and shifting weather patterns can affect timing, sizing, yields, quality and availability. PSD: Are you introducing any new products? EV: We are continuing to expand the visibility and development of commodities beyond the products for which Altar has traditionally been best known. Broccoli, Brussels sprouts and dates are becoming increasingly important parts of how we present our portfolio alongside asparagus and green onions. PSD: Where is your current product emphasis? EV: Asparagus and green onions remain major areas of emphasis for Altar Produce. Our green onion production in San Luis Río Colorado allows us to provide supply 52 weeks a year. We want the market to understand that green onions are not a secondary or seasonal addition for Altar, they are a core, full-time program. PSD: What products do you see as being hottest this year? EV: We see significant opportunities for green onions because they fit several broader consumer trends. They are affordable, versatile, flavorful and familiar, while also working across an enormous range of cuisines. PSD: What distinguishes your product(s) from the competition? EV: Our programs are built around experienced production teams, established growing regions, certified facilities, quality standards and dependable supply. Because we are vertically integrated, we have the production and

PSD: Compare the position of your products and their technology against the current market. EV: We are strengthening lot-level and pallet-level tracking throughout our operations, allowing product to be traced back through the packing and growing process. Maintaining visibility from the field through distribution while also building programs that are resilient regardless of the weather challenges is our main priority. PSD: What is the nature of your distribution? EV: Our distribution model is designed to support retail, wholesale and foodservice programs of varying sizes. Our customer base extends beyond a single region, and we have experience supporting programs throughout North America as well as international markets. PSD: How do you handle sales? EV: Our sales approach is highly relationship-driven. We work directly with buyers and procurement teams to understand their volume, specifications, timing, packaging, promotional plans and other program requirements. PSD: Who are your target end-users? EV: Ultimately, our target end-user is the everyday consumer. While we work closely with retailers, wholesalers, distributors and foodservice partners, everything we do comes back to the person choosing our produce and bringing it home to their table. PSD: Tell our readers about your trade show objectives, plans, products, promotions, etc. EV: At this year’s show, we will be exhibiting at Booth 2771. Our booth will include activities designed to help visi-

PSD: How do you see the next year in terms of economy, sales, technology and product evolution? EV: We expect another year in which flexibility will be extremely important. Cost pressures, changing consumer purchasing behavior and weather variability will continue to influence the produce industry. Technology and traceability will become even more integrated into everyday operations. PSD: What is your outlook in general for this product line? EV: We remain very optimistic about fresh vegetables and particularly about asparagus and green onions. Green onions have tremendous versatility but are sometimes still treated primarily as a garnish. We see an opportunity to broaden that perception. ingredient: discovery. Rambutan, dragon fruit, lychee, longan, mangosteen, cherimoya and soursop can stop shoppers simply because they look different. That visual impact creates an opening for retailers to introduce new flavors, connect with culturally diverse customers and make the produce department feel more dynamic. The opportunity, however, is not limited to novelty. Many specialty
items have long been everyday foods in Latin American, Caribbean and Asian households. As consumers encounter a wider range of global cuisines at restaurants, through travel and across social media, products once considered highly specialized can become more recognizable at retail. For produce buyers, successful tropical programs depend on more than putting an unfamiliar item on display. Clear identification, attractive presentation and simple education can help shoppers understand what they
are seeing. A cut dragon fruit reveals its striking speckled flesh. A peeled rambutan shows the translucent fruit hidden inside its vivid red exterior. Even a small amount of information about flavor, ripeness or serving ideas can lower the barrier to a first purchase. That is where experienced specialty suppliers play an important role. Miami-based Belen Trading works across a broad assortment of tropical fruits, roots, vegetables, peppers and herbs. The company’s portfolio includes visually distinctive products such as
rambutan and dragon fruit as well as staples including plantains, yucca, green papaya, okra and other items used across international cuisines. For retailers and wholesalers, the category offers room to serve existing demand while also creating new interest. The strongest programs can do both: provide culturally important products consistently and invite new consumers to explore them.

message and what core programs do you want to introduce or highlight at this year’s show?
SP: What sets Dutchman apart is our ability to combine the scale and consistency national retailers require with the care and accountability of a familyowned and operated farm. We are involved from seed selection to the field through harvest, production, packaging and delivery. That vertical integration gives us greater control over quality, freshness and timing. At the same time, we understand that no two customers are exactly alike. We work closely with our retail partners to develop programs around their individual stores, markets, merchandising strategies and customers rather than simply offering a one-size-fits-all solution. Ultimately, we want our customers to feel like they have a partner in their Christmas business, not simply another supplier.
the need to maximize increasingly valuable retail space.
Christmas programs. Stop by our front porch, get your team photo with our Santa photo-op board and your own Christmas ornament. We encourage attendees to stop by even if they already have an established Christmas program. With the Christmas décor products shipping within the next couple of weeks, some of our best conversations begin with, “What could we do better?” and “What can Christmas 2027 begin to look like?” Whether the opportunity is improving freshness, simplifying logistics, expanding a greenery assortment, creating new décor options or simply exchanging ideas about where the Christmas category is headed, we would love to have the conversation. At the end of the day, Dutchman Tree Farms is a family-owned and operated business built around a product that brings families together. We’re proud to grow Christmas in our fields and the wilds of Northern Michigan, and we’re excited to help our retail partners bring that experience to families across North America.
Tropical Produce (Cont’d. from p. 1)
SP: Our message this year is simple: Dutchman Tree Farms is your complete farm-fresh Christmas partner. More importantly, we want to show how these products can work together as a coordinated program that gives retailers flexibility while creating a strong, authentic Christmas experience for their customers. North American fruit growers, Riveridge Produce Marketing (Sparta, Michigan) and Gibson Farms (Newcastle, Ontario), have each purchased Elifab cherry grading lines from Ellips USA. The investments support both companies’ expansion of cherry production into regions not traditionally associated with the crop, to serve growing fresh-market demand across the Midwest and East Coast. which packaging material is the right one. Paper is natural, so it must be better. Plastic is the villain, so it must go. Fiber is the future, so switch now. It is a tidy story – and like most tidy stories about a complicated subject, it falls apart the moment you test it against a real product on a real line. The research does not crown a winner. Studies comparing everyday formats have found, for example, that lightweight plastic can generate far less solid waste than paper for the same job, while paper avoids other
Produce Show Daily & Floral News one who really knows how the receiving process runs. Decisions that stall for days because nobody can see current inventory, cost or quality data without asking someone to build a report first. None of that shows up as a line item. It shows up as margin leakage, manual labor that never gets automated, tribal knowledge trapped in one person’s head and decisions that arrive too late to matter. Add it up across a season, and the setup that “works” starts to look like the most expensive thing in the building. A few honest questions are
worth asking: If you were starting your company today, would you buy what you’re running today? How much of your process exists because that’s how the software wants it done, rather than how your business actually runs? Could a new hire see what’s happening on the floor right now without tracking someone down? Compliance deadlines like FSMA 204 get a lot of attention this year, and rightly so – traceability requirements aren’t going away. But most operators don’t lose sleep over a regulation. They lose sleep over the parts of the business they can’t see:
management and promotional planning needed to drive consistent growth and stay ahead of consumer expectations and demand for the popular fruit. To further build supply chain resilience, West Pak has made significant long-term investments in Colombia, establishing one of the largest U.S.-owned growing and packing operations in the country. Over the past three years, the company has planted more than 1,000 hectares in the country and developed modern packing infrastructure tailored for the U.S. market. This long-term operational commitment grants greater visibility into crop development, harvest timing, fruit sizing and planning, ensuring consistent quality and uninterrupted service year-round.
“Our investment in Colombia is fundamentally about strengthening our ability to serve customers,” said West Pak Avocado Chief Executive Officer Mario Pacheco. “By investing directly in production and packing capabilities, we are creating a more resilient supply network that provides retailers with greater consistency, dependable service levels, and confidence in their year-round avocado programs. This investment complements our broader sourcing strategy and helps us navigate market volatility while continuing to deliver the quality our customers expect.” Complementing its core supply network, West Pak recently unveiled a bold organic branding strategy titled The Bright Side of Organic.
The process begins in the field, where endive roots are cultivated and harvested. The roots are then brought into a controlled growing environment, where they are replanted and encouraged to produce the familiar compact white and red endive heads. This distinctive process is the inspiration behind California Endive Farms’ message: “So Nice, It’s Grown Twice.” The farm’s focus extends beyond growing crops. California Endive Farms works closely with retail, foodservice and wholesale partners to introduce consumers to the vegetable through
product education, in-store demonstrations, recipes and promotional programs. Endive’s versatility makes it an appealing addition to the produce department. The leaves can be enjoyed fresh in salads, used as individual cups for appetizers or incorporated into cooked dishes. Its sturdy leaves pair well with ingredients ranging from fresh fruit and cheeses to proteins and dressings. California Endive Farms offers retail-ready options designed to make endive approachable for today’s shop-
impacts. Both sides can point to data and both are partly right. What that tells us is not that one material is superior, but that excessive reliance on any single material – whatever it is – tends to create the next problem. We have watched this pendulum swing before: the paper bags of the mid-1900s were themselves once the environmental fix that plastic was invented to replace. So instead of asking which material is best, we ask a more useful question: what does this product actually need? A potato needs ventilation and moisture management. A delicate berry needs structure and protection. A
long supply chain needs strength; a short one may not. Once you answer that, the material choice starts to sort itself out – and often the honest answer is a thoughtful mix of materials rather than a wholesale switch from one to another. It also helps to remember what packaging is for. Food packaging is too often treated as a needless cost, when in reality it earns its keep by preventing spoilage, extending shelf life and getting the crop to the customer intact. A package that fails at that job is not sustainable at any material spec, because the biggest waste in the system is the food itself,
where the real cost is hiding, why the same fire keeps getting put out and why growth always seems to require hiring more people to run the same process. That’s the gap Fusionware was built to close: real-time visibility, traceability and cost data that doesn’t wait for a batch job or a spreadsheet to catch up. Much of this can be addressed by improving how farm data is collected, shared and used. Agricultural Data Systems has spent nearly four decades developing technology around agricultural operations. Its Datatrack platform connects field data collection, mobile onboarding, labor tracking, production information, live reporting and payroll data, giving growers a clearer picture of their operations while reducing the need to move information between systems. “We got our time back. Datatrack connected our field data and payroll into one system, cut the hours we used to spend reconciling numbers, gave us real visibility into the field day to day, and backed it up with genuinely great customer service,” said Jose R. Real-time visibility is especially valuable during harvest, when conditions change hourly. Datatrack sup-
ports both hourly and piece-rate work, with customizable calculations designed around each operation. Rather than relying on information to be entered and reconciled later, growers capture data where the work happens and monitor productivity, labor and production as the day progresses. Technology is extending further into the field. Integrated mobile onboarding offers meaningful cost savings by eliminating the downtime of transporting crews to an administrative office for paperwork. Through ADS FieldPro, agricultural employers onboard workers directly in the field, completing documentation, training and new hire packets seamlessly from a mobile device. Datatrack also incorporates harvest tickets and facial recognition to connect workers with their work, supporting traceability through the supply chain.

FirstFruits’ third appearance at this year’s show as a united, multi-regional company, showcasing the strength and capabilities of its expanded operations. Through the acquisition of Applewood Fresh Growers, the company has expanded its geographic reach, product offerings and supply chain capabilities. Together, these strengths set a new standard for what retailers and consumers can expect from a grower-shipper. This strategic alignment, finalized in late 2023, was more than an acquisition. right here in New York State. NYS Grown & Certified was developed to help New York buyers and producers take advantage of the growing public demand for foods that are locally grown and produced to a higher standard. The program spotlights the hard-working farm families who care for the land and animals and produce the fresh foods that nourish communities while also adhering to high standards of food safety and environmentally responsible practices. Over the last year, the program launched a $1 million “Harvested with Heart” marketing campaign that features NYS Grown & Certified participating producers. Found on billboards, on television, online and on social media, the campaign strives to show the care that these farmers put into producing their food, and why they’re driven to
deliver only the best. The program continues to expand and welcome new producers. As part of the support the NYS Grown & Certified program provides, it is investing in its participants, with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets recently announcing that $8.5 million has been awarded to 70 farms, food processors and distributors across the state through the New York State Grown & Certified Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Development (NYS G&C ITRD) grant program. The funding was awarded to help participants make much-needed infrastructure enhancements and purchase equipment that supports the innovative practices taking place today on farms and food businesses across the state. These improvements will ultimately help New York farms and
agribusinesses meet the growing needs of the industry and respond to consumer and market demands, including producing food that is grown and packed with food safety measures and environmental consideration top of mind, which is what the NYS Grown & Certified program is all about. Ten years in, NYS Grown & Certified encompasses a total of 25 agricultural commodities, including dairy, beef, pork, poultry, produce, honey, maple, craft beverages and more. Choosing these NYS Grown & Certified products is a promise to your customers that you are choosing fresh, locally grown foods, produced with not only safety and sustainability in mind, but with people at the forefront.

Alongside his son Vince, who represents the fourth generation now carrying the legacy forward, the duo embodies what Goody is at its core: family-owned, relationship-driven and built to last. Vince Mazzetti, Vice President of Goody and Blue Banner Company, and the fourth generation of the familyowned operation brings fresh energy and modern vision to a brand rooted in the wisdom of those who came before, infusing what the company has always called “life’s simple moments” with renewed purpose and reach.
Today, Goody serves the produce market as a seasoned grower, packer and shipper of the highest quality citrus products – specializing in grapefruit – and is recognized as one of the premier citrus operations in the country. That reputation was not built overnight. It was built by people who stayed. In an era when talent is treated as a transaction and loyalty is a quaint concept, Goody’s story reads differently. Long-tenured staff – in the field, on the packing floor and across the office – are not just employees. They are the institutional memory of an organization that has outlasted trends, market shifts and generations
direct market growers, and a close eye on what retailers and consumers are telling us. The result is that SnapDragon continues to grow, outperform the category and exceed forecasts. And that’s the kind of momentum that matters at retail. When a brand is gaining traction with shoppers, retailers want to know there will be enough product to support that momentum. They want consistency. They want quality. And they
want a partner who is thinking beyond the next shipment. SnapDragon is built for that. As the brand earns more shelf space at some of America’s top retailers, the opportunity is bigger than simply selling more apples. It’s about building a brand that can deliver year after year, and giving retailers the confidence to make a bigger commitment as consumer demand continues to grow. The best part is we’re not slowing

As Goody steps into the future, it does so with this truth at the center: 75 years of excellence is not a number on a press release. It is the sum of thousands of days worked by people who believed in what they were building – and who keep showing up to build it still. Seventy-five years and growing. Because of them.
