Urban One Audiences Unite to Raise $1.6 Million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Radio One and Reach Media, the audio divisions of Urban One, joined forces for the annual Urban Cares for St. Jude Kids radiothon on March 6 and 7, raising $1.6 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. “For almost two decades, our partners and friends at Urban One have brought people together to advance a common goal: helping kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases,” said Ike Anand, interim Chief Executive Officer of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “We are deeply grateful for listeners nationwide who tuned in to learn more about St. Jude and those who were so generous to provide support that helps St. Jude find cures and save children.” On-air personalities in Radio One’s 13 markets nationwide and Reach Media’s nationally syndicated networks rallied listeners to become a Partner in Hope by making a monthly pledge to St. Jude. Sony Electronics Inc. announced it has developed a new display system incorporating an independent drive RGB LED with a high-density LED backlight that can individually control three primary colors – R (red), G (green) and B (blue) (RGB), and that is suitable for large screens. This panel allows each RGB color to emit light independently, resulting in high color purity and the ability to reproduce images with a vibrant, wide color gamut. Additionally, the display system is equipped with Sony’s proprietary advanced backlight control technology, designed to maximize the panel’s characteristics. This backlight control technology enables faithful reproduction of delicate hues and subtle gradations of light across every corner of the display, even on large screens. In cinematic works such as films, the ability to convey narrative expression relies significantly on the subtleties of color and black representation, as well as the gradation of light.
