Happy New Year It may be the beginning of a new calendar year but not the start of a new fraternal year. As we pass the half way mark of the 2023-2024 fraternal year we start hearing into our busy season. As I write this I am getting ready for the mid-year District Deputy meeting which will kick o the 2024 Super Cash Bonanza. State Treasurer and SCB Chairman Jim Maslach has been working on a fun and exciting program theme for this year, and I think you’ll like it. A huge THANK YOU to Councils 13874 and 3382 for once again hosting the ticket distribution here in the Arch (details below). If you are in the southern part of the Arch and would like to pick up your tickets in Englewood, please let me know so that I have them ready for you. The 2023 Coming of the Kings Christmas Pageant is this Sunday, January 7th at the Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati starting at 12:30 PM with the Chorus followed by the play beginning at 1:00 PM. This is a wonderful tradition for families and I had the opportunity to speak about it on Father Rob Jack’s

Driving Home the Faith program on Sacred Heart Radio just before Christmas. Although I will likely still be in Columbus for the DD meeting I hope you are able to attend and bring your children and/or grand children. There may even be a little snow on the ground which makes it even more special! Shortly after Easter the 2023 Measure-Up campaign will begin. Beyond our Gimme 5 initiative many councils have had success by “shaking their cans” in front of small businesses or placing their cans inside the businesses. Sometimes all it takes is asking. Some councils still do “street collections”. This truly is our agship charitable program to help those in our communities with developmental disabilities. Finally, check out the six winners of this year’s Ohio Charity Foundation High School Scholarship Program. This program shows our commitment to Catholic education in Catholic high schools. I encourage you to spread the word about this program in 2024. Vivat Jesus! Michael J. Felerski State Secretary
