Governor Rick Scott Deploys 15 Trucks from the Sunshine State to Assist Washington D.C. with Blizzard Clean Up Washington, D.C. – Governor Rick Scott dispatched a 15-truck convoy to Washington, D.C. from the Sunshine State on January 27 to assist in recovery efforts from the more than 20 inches of snow that blanketed the city during last weekend’s blizzard. All of the deployed dump trucks are wrapped with a friendly message for D.C.’s snow-covered residents and business owners to VISIT FLORIDA. Governor Scott said, “Florida is glad to help Washington D.C. dig out from the snow I have seen on my visit here this week. Our state will provide 15 dump trucks with a message of ‘Sunshine’ to encourage residents as they clean up and recover.” Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jim Boxold (FDOT) said, “The Florida Department of Transportation is proud to provide important equipment to the residents of the District of Columbia. Our trucks will not only help with snow removal, but will also remind Washington D.C. residents that the Sunshine State welcomes their visit anytime.” Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) Director Bryan W. Koon said, “Coordinating assistance for Washington, D.C. provides a great opportunity to test the flexibility of our resources and methods. While snowstorms are something we wouldn’t typically

expect here in Florida, we are always willing to lend a helping hand to our northern neighbors.” Will Seccombe, president & CEO of VISIT FLORIDA said, “While Florida is proud to help out the nation’s capital in the aftermath of this storm, we also want to send a friendly reminder to our chilly northern neighbors that we have plenty of sunshine and warm weather for them to enjoy here in the Sunshine State.” FDOT will provide the 15 dump trucks and 31 state employees to assist with snow removal from the recent storm. The equipment and personnel are from Northwest Florida, Northeast Florida and Central Florida. FDEM is coordinating the relief effort in response to an Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) request issued from the District of Columbia. EMAC is a mutual aid agreement between the states and territories of the United States that enables states to share resources during governordeclared states of emergencies in response to natural and man-made disasters. Through this agreement the aid will not be paid for by Florida tax dollars. These resources can include personnel, equipment and commodities.

NASA - Noticias / News • Max Height is measured in degrees (also known as elevation). It represents the height of the space station from the horizon in the night sky. The horizon is at zero degrees, and directly overhead is ninety degrees. If you hold your fist at arm’s length and place your fist resting on the horizon, the top will be about 10 degrees.

How do I Spot the Station? What does all this sighting information mean?

How to spot the International Space Station Watch the International Space Station pass overhead from several thousand worldwide locations. It is the third brightest object in the sky and easy to spot if you know when to look up. Visible to the naked eye, it looks like a fast-moving plane only much higher and traveling thousands of miles an hour faster!

• Time is when the sighting opportunity will begin in your local time zone. All sightings will occur within a few hours before or after sunrise or sunset. This is the optimum viewing period as the sun reflects off the space station and contrasts against the darker sky. • Visible is the maximum time period the space station is visible before crossing back below the horizon.

• Appears is the location in the sky where the station will be visible first. This value, like maximum height, also is measured in degrees from the horizon. The letters represent compass directions -- N is north, WNW is west by northwest, and so on. • Disappears represents where in the night sky the International Space Station will leave your field of view. The following ISS sightings are possible in Kissimmee, Florida from Friday Jan 29, 2016 through Wednesday Feb 2, 2016.

(L-R) Lt. Governor, Carlos Lopez-Cantera, MSGT Francisco Clemente Torregrosa, and Senator Marco Rubio

Rubio Honors Fallen Borinqueneer Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) paid tribute on Janury 26, 2016, to ‎MSGT Francisco Clemente Torregrosa, a veteran of the U.S. Army’s 65th Infantry Regiment, known as the “Borinqueneers”, who was buried that same day in Puerto Rico after passing away at his daughter's home in Orlando, Florida last week at the age of 97. He served our country in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. “Francisco Torregrosa was born into modest circumstances in 1918, but over the next 97 years of his life, he would go on to do extraordinary things, especially as a member of

the Borinqueneers,” said Rubio. “It is with a heavy heart that we lay to rest another Borinqueneer without receiving his well-deserved and long overdue Congressional Gold Medal which is expected to be unveiled sometime in the spring of this year. “During his final years living in Florida, I was proud to represent Francisco Torregrosa and was honored to meet him in 2014 and get a chance to personally thank him for his service,” added Rubio. “As he is laid to rest in his birthplace of Puerto Rico, my wife Jeanette and I ‎are thinking of and praying for Francisco and his family.”

54th Rolex 24 at Daytona Daytona, FL - Ford Chip Ganassi Racing’s “Star Car” returns to defend its victory in the 54th Rolex 24 at Daytona, although many of the 13 entrants in the Prototype class can share that nickname entering the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship opener at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 30-31. Television coverage of the Rolex 24 gets underway on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET on FS1. Based on lap times from the recent Roar Before the Rolex 24 test three weeks ago – the opening event for the Daytona International Speedway motorsports stadium after the completion of the $400 million DAYTONA Rising project – will feature a wide-open battle for the overall triumph. Former Ganassi regular Scott Pruett teams up with long-time rival Action Express Racing in a bid for an unprecedented sixth overall triumph in the event. He teams with defending two-time Prototype champions Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi in the

No. 5 Mustang Sampling Corvette DP, as well as 2013 Rolex 24 GT winner Felix Albuquerque in a lineup combing for a record 16 Rolex 24 class victories – most of any entry in the history of the event. Action Express also fields the No. 31 Whelen Engineering/Team Fox Corvette DP for Eric Curran, Dane Cameron, Simon Pagenaud and Jonny Adam. The current-generation DPs face a solid challenge this weekend, based on solid performances by the five LM P2 Prototypes and the DeltaWing coupe in the recent Roar Before the Rolex 24 test. Ozz Negri, AJ Allmendinger, John Pew and Olivier Pla dominated much of the test in the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Tire Kingdom Honda Ligier JS P2.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) Q. My brother-in-law was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis. Could you do one of your columns on this subject so everyone in our family can understand it? Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a muscle disease. The name comes from Greek and Latin words meaning grave muscle weakness. Myasthenia gravis (myus-THEEN-ee-uh GRAVus) affects the muscles that control the eyes, face, breathing, chewing, talking, swallowing and limbs. MG usually strikes adult women under the age of 40 and men over the age of 60. However, MG can affect people of any age and ethnic group. MG is not contagious and is not inherited. The cause of MG is a breakdown in the communication between nerves and muscles. This breakdown causes muscle fatigue and weakness, which worsens with repeated use of the muscle. Symptoms usually improve with rest. Treatment can help MG symptoms, but there is no cure for the disease. The following are some specific signs of MG: drooping eyelids, double or blurred vision, difficulty speaking/swallowing/ chewing, inability to smile, shortness of breath, and a change in your stride. When MG strikes, the immune system produces antibodies that interfere with the muscles’ ability to receive nerve signals. This interference causes weakness. There’s a theory that the thymus gland, a part of your immune system located

under the breastbone, may be responsible for making these antibodies. The thymus gland is abnormal in most MG cases. MG symptoms can be intensified by stress, illness, fatigue, extreme heat and drugs such as beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, quinine and some antibiotics. Myasthenic crisis is a lifethreatening condition that occurs when the muscles that control breathing become too weak. Emergency treatment is necessary to recover the ability to breathe properly. People with MG are more likely to have the following additional problems: a malfunctioning thyroid gland; lupus, a chronic inflammatory disease, and rheumatoid arthritis, an immune-system disorder. Drugs for treating MG include cholinesterase inhibitors, corticosteroids and immunosuppressants. Cholinesterase inhibitors enhance communication between nerves and muscles. Corticosteroids inhibit the immune system, limiting antibody production. Immunosuppressants alter your immune system. Among the therapies for MG are plasmapheresis and intravenous immune globulin. In plasmapheresis, blood is routed through a machine that removes the antibodies interfering with nerve signals to the muscles. Intravenous immune globulin gives your body normal antibodies, which alters your immunesystem response. Today the mortality rate of MG is less than 5 percent.

   Things to remember when filing taxes The time has come to file taxes and it is time to think who we can chose to help us with this process. Edgar Silva, President of Multiple Services World at 2760 N Orange Blossom Trail in Kissimmee is one person that helps the community with their taxes. The first suggestion Silva has for us is that the person preparing your taxes be trustworthy and with great professional etiquette as you will be providing them with very delicate and personal documents and information that could be used towards our detriment. Find out if they have a PTIN which is a personal number used by the IRS to identify those that prepare taxes. Silva also said one thing to consider is “experience is very important to

consider among Tax services. It is important to know how long the person has been working in Tax services, also consider the number of people working in the office and whether or not the office is open year around to help clients. Silva noted that it is sometimes unsafe to trust, that is why he recommends to consider very carefully where you will be getting help to file your taxes and to very carefully review your file before filing your taxes. And never sign a blank form. The person preparing your tax forms should sign the document and put down their PTIN number. The individual is responsible for what info they file for their taxes. To contact Mr. Silva call 407870-7817.

Orlando Magic have extended their losing streak to seven Orlando, FL - As the season progresses, we’re starting to see a problem this team has faced for years: they struggle to close games. The Magic displayed an impressive change the first quarter of the season and that was not only winning, but closing out close games. Now, as the half way mark has passed, the Orlando Magic can’t seem to play consistent, clean basketball for all four quarters. Last Saturday, the Magic played the Charlotte Hornets here in Orlando. The Magic had a 15 point lead going into the 4th quarter but watched their lead slip as Kemba Walker led the Hornets to a 30 point quarter forcing overtime. The Magic combined poor shot selection with turnovers to lose 120 to 116. Aaron Gordon got his first start this season and grabbed 10 points. The other four starters for the Magic also scored in the double digits with Nik Vucevic and Elfrid Payton both finishing with double doubles. Vucevic had 12 rebounds and 15 points while Payton had 10 assists and 11 points, and 9 rebounds – just one shy of picking up a triple double. It was Victor Oladipo who led the team in scoring with 29 points. The Magic traveled to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies. Once again, the Magic found themselves in overtime. And just like the night before, the Magic had too many

errors to finish with a win. The 108 to 102 loss reflects their mentality in those critical times. Too many silly mistakes are being made when the game is on the line. The ball movement wasn’t there and 19 turnovers are too many. Oladipo had an off night making only one out of his ten shots. Three Magic men, Tobias Harris, Vucevic and Evan Fournier, led scoring with 16 points. Two rough games now needed to be put behind them as Orlando traveled to Milwaukee to play the Bucks. Orlando led by 16 at one point but the Bucks played great offense and was able to beat the Magic. Orlando has been struggling defensively. They allowed 70 points in the paint versus the Grizzlies and the Bucks got away with 62 of their 107 points to be scored in the paint. The Magic were able to control the ball better by only having 11 turnovers. There’s still half a season of basketball left to play and plenty of time for this Magic team to bounce back and make a run for the playoffs. Orlando’s next two games are both against the Boston Celtics. Tonight they will play in Boston then fly back to Orlando to play them again on Sunday. This is the last home game for the Magic before they head west for a two game road trip where they will face the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Carolina is the second expelled from Big Brother

Photo by GH - Osceola Star

The first of two nights of Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour at Miami’s American Airlines Arena took place on Saturday, January 23rd in front of a sold out crowd. Madonna, the icon delivered everything that could be expected of her, an amazing voice, impressive dance moves, and stage production to compete with a Cirque Du Solei. DJ Khaled also made an appearance and got a kiss on the cheek on stage from Madonna. Among the lively audience were Sam Smith, Rosie O’Donnell and Gloria Estefan.

After two weeks of competition, the audience decided that who should leave the Big Brother’s house was the Dominican Carolina after being nominated along with Pedro and Domingo.

became her confidant, a relationship that ended bringing them many consequences because this made them isolated from the rest of the group and with few allies at the time of nomination.

Carolina was the first contestant to win immunity in the Big Brother’s house when she answered the red phone; this helped to keep her the first week, having obtained high votes by the viewers.

3. Her arrogance and lack of humility when she received any criticism or comment and not recognizing her faults.

For these 10 reasons, Carolina "The sexy bombshell", became the second to leave the guesthouse and be expelled from the show:

5. A series of clashes with some of the guests in the house on many occasions.

1. She could not adapt to living with her companions, she could not understand the game rules. 2. Having friends in the house becomes difficult sometimes, but to Carolina, Maday

4. Her little teamwork in the house with the tasks assigned amongst them.

6. The day she was nominated with Domingo and Pedro, she gave the viewers the initiative to vote for her, because it was very clear with one of her comments, that she did not care if she was out of the competition and the audience did not forgive that. 7. She did not know how to play being the Big Sister of all guests, and the strategy she used did not favored her, on the contrary it ruled against her, because even with her roommates she had disagreements. 8. She forgot the most important thing and it is that she was under the "eye" of the audience who decides who goes and who stays. 9. Her reactions to difficult situations led Carolina, sometimes to lose patience and sanity. 10. Let’s remember that this is a game of strategy, the loneliest and most contentious does not win, the person who manages people better and the different situations, is who wins, and the truth is that Carolina did not stand out from none of the above, on the contrary since the beginning she appeared to be a difficult person and had many conditions to live in the Big Brother’s house. Do not miss minute-to-minute what is happening in the Big Brother’s house.
