State - Noticias / News El Gob.

Gov. Scott applauds Senate’s focus on jobs; concerned House is slashing jobs programs Tallahassee, FL – Today, Governor Rick Scott released the below statement on the proposed budgets within the Florida Senate and Florida House. The Florida Senate’s proposed budget includes more than $80 million for Enterprise Florida programs and $76 million for VISIT FLORIDA, while the Florida House’s proposed budget eliminates Enterprise Florida and slashes VISIT FLORIDA’s budget to $25 million. Governor Scott said, “Over the past few months, Floridians and job creators from across the state have come together in support of important economic development programs like Enterprise Florida and VISIT FLORIDA. I want to thank the Florida Senate for listening to our families and job creators by proposing to fully fund Enterprise Florida and VISIT FLORIDA. “Unfortunately, at this time, the Florida House has chosen to continue ignoring the Floridians they serve. The House’s decision to severely cut the budget of VISIT FLORIDA is especially shocking when we look at how disastrous this has been in other states. A reduction of tourism marketing means a reduction of visitors and revenue,

which increases the tax burden for our families and threatens the jobs of more than 1.4 million Floridians who rely on the tourism industry. “Over and over again, politicians in the House have failed to understand that Florida is competing for job creation projects against other states and countries across the globe. Eliminating Enterprise Florida means we will not be able to effectively compete for new opportunities. Furthermore, while the House originally claimed that the role of EFI could be relocated to DEO, their proposed budget instead slashes positions within DEO’s Division of Business Development. The individuals in these positions are crucial to ensuring businesses honor their contracts and job creation goals before receiving any economic incentive dollars. Eliminating the majority of these positions puts our taxpayers’ hardearned money at risk.”

GOPEP in January 2014. A major thrust of GOPEP’s efforts was to position BRIDG and NeoCity (Osceola’s sensor project) as assets for the Orlando region and the entire state of Florida. An extensive cooperative marketing effort was implemented over the past two years. Osceola County plans to continue many of the programs and activities started by GOPEP including its website (www.greaterosceola.com), its branding campaign and marketing efforts.

RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo returns Osceola County, FL – The excitement of the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo returns to Osceola County for its third year, April 6-9, bringing a level of rodeo competition unlike any other to the dirt-covered floor of the Silver Spurs Arena. Reigning 2016 RNCFR Bareback Champion and current World Champion Tim O’Connell will return this year, as well as two-time RNCFR All-Around Champion Josh Peek for the thrilling elimination-format rodeo. Contestants will compete head-to-head for $1 million in cash and prizes. The event has proven to attract new visitors to the area, many of which include loyal rodeo fans following the strong men and women who compete in events throughout the country. County officials are convinced that by showcasing the dynamic community to these groups, the reach of Osceola’s tourism brand will continue to grow.

“We have created an amazing oneof-a-kind rodeo event that appeals to competitors and rodeo fans alike. Showdown Sunday is a hotwire to the heart as the best of the best strive to come out on top. It’s an electrifying experience and it is really a great showcase for our rodeo traditions and our tourism brand,” said Osceola Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington. Last year, Osceola County added more fanfare with the new “Tailgate Experience”, which will return this year with added entertainment and excitement for all, including an expanded kids zone with a rock climbing wall, bungee jump, trampolines, zip lines, corn hole and more. Local food vendors have been added to the lineup this year as well. It all kicks off on April 3 with a unique cattle drive through the streets of historic downtown Kissimmee. Cowboys, county officials and livestock will recreate this historical event that took place back when

Kissimmee was the “Cow Capital of Florida”. Today, Florida is still “First in Cattle,” and with more than 100,000 head of cattle, the state is home to both the largest and 10th largest cattle operations in the United States. Tickets range in price from $10 to $25 for single event tickets depending on the performance. Kids 12 and under are free. Parking for the RNCFR is free this year. Vas a salir adelante."

Orlando Magic Players Nikola Vucevic and Elfrid Payton visit pediatric patients at Florida Hospital for Children By Josh Cohen ORLANDO -- “You’re strong and amazing. You’ll come out on top.” “Get well soon so that you can be here with us at the game.” “Keep fighting, keep praying and keep believing.” These were just a few of the dozens of heartwarming and inspirational notes hand-written by Orlando Magic players and fans for pediatric patients in need of a boost at Florida Hospital for Children. To make these messages even more incredible and impactful, Magic players Nikola Vucevic and Elfrid Payton along with community ambassadors Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw and Magic Dancers visited the children at the hospital and delivered them teddy bears with these heart-felt notes written on the tag. The teddy bears were parachuted from the rafters as part of Florida Hospital for

Children night during the game. Fans were encouraged to write an uplifting message on the tag. Players wrote their inspirational messages earlier this month. By the looks on the children’s faces when they spotted Vucevic and Payton, you can tell immediately that their spirits were raised. The kids also got to play games with two of their favorite professional athletes and heroes. Even the Florida Hospital staffs were amazed at the impact this visit from the Magic had on the children. They saw kids who haven’t smiled or laughed in weeks suddenly become the life of the party. The partnership between the Magic and Florida Hospital is what allows for these heartwarming moments to happen. By joining forces and spending so much time in the community, more and more kids in need will benefit.
