Christie Lou Mitchell has been a practicing attorney for more than 16 years and is the founder and owner of a Central Florida law practice. Born and raised in Orlando, Christie Lou is a product of Orange County Public Schools. Raised by a single mother who worked multiple jobs to support her family, she learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and personal responsibility
at an early age. She was the first person in her family to earn a graduate degree and the first to become an attorney. Through hard work and the support of Florida’s Bright Futures Scholarship Program, she earned her undergraduate degree from Florida State University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
During law school, Christie Lou served as a judicial intern for a Circuit Court criminal judge. Working inside the courtroom gave her an early appreciation for the responsibility entrusted to judges and reinforced her commitment to the fair and impartial administration of justice.
After being admitted to The Florida Bar, she began her legal career representing clients throughout Central Florida. Over the last 16 years, she has appeared in nearly every division of the Circuit Court and has handled matters involving families,

She has also co-authored amicus curiae briefs addressing important legal issues before Florida’s appellate courts.
Christie Lou has volunteered with the Legal Aid Society, served as a Guardian ad Litem advocating for children in the dependency system, and supported numerous charitable and civic
organizations throughout Central Florida. She is a member of several professional and community organizations, including the Central Florida Family Law Inns of Court and the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers. She has also volunteered as a judge for moot court competitions at the University of Central Florida and oral argument competitions at Florida A&M University College of Law.

As the child of an Army veteran and a Spanish teacher, Dan grew up in Indian River County learning about service, sacrifice, and solution-oriented leadership. Dan attended American University, Florida State University, and George Washington University with a focus on Political Science and International Relations.
Dan was working in the Pentagon on September 11th and experienced the devastating attack firsthand. The attack on our nation greatly impacted Dan and strengthened his resolve to serve his country. Dan joined the United States Navy, where he completed four tours throughout the Middle East and Central Asia. He also completed a civilian tour of duty to southern Afghanistan with the U.S. Department of State. Dan has earned the rank of Commander and has been selected for promotion to Captain.
While serving in Afghanistan and Iraq, Dan was attached to two SEAL Team deployments, including in Fallujah and southern Afghanistan; he also served in Baghdad and Kabul. His boots-on-theground experience has made him an expert in counterterrorism, foreign policy, and the
toll of war on our brave veterans.
In 2019, Dan was appointed by President Trump as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy & Force Development at the U.S. Department of Defense. While in the Department of Defense, Dan played a pivotal role in our ongoing defense strategy and scenario planning.
Dan is a recipient of several honors, including the Secretary of Defense’s Medal for Outstanding Public Service (2021), the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Exceptional Public Service Award (2009), the U.S. Department of State’s Superior Honor Award (2005), and the U.S. Army’s Superior Civilian Honor Award (2005).

As voters in Orange and Osceola counties prepare to choose their next Circuit Judge for Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit, attorney Kamilah Perry enters the race with more than two decades of legal experience. Her campaign centers on fairness, experience, and a steady approach to the law—qualities she says are essential for serving effectively on the circuit bench.
Perry grew up in Central Florida, graduating from Lake Mary High School before attending Samford University to study Journalism and Mass Communications. She later earned both her law degree and MBA from Stetson University College of Law, graduating with honors. Her interest in public service began early, shaped by her family’s deep ties to the legal community and a lifelong appreciation for the justice system.
Her father, retired Florida Supreme Court Justice James E.C. Perry, has long been a guiding influence. Perry’s work spans labor and employment matters, commercial litigation, insurance defense, and business disputes. As a partner at Perry Law Group, she
