Super Bowl MVP - "I am going to Disney World" El Jugador Más Valioso del Super Bowl, Patrick Mahomes, "¡Estuve en Disney World!" Lake Buena Vista, FL - Con vítores y confeti aún llenando el aire después de la tan esperada victoria de los Chiefs’ de Kansas City el domingo en el Super Bowl LIV, el jugador más valioso del juego, Patrick Mahomes, gritó esa famosa frase que se ha convertido en un momento icónico de cada Super Bowl: "¡Voy a Disney World!” El lunes, Mahomes fue llevado de Miami a Walt Disney World Resort, cerca de Orlando, donde participó en un desfile de celebración en el Parque Magic Kingdom después de protagonizar el tradicional comercial de televisión de Super Bowl de Disney. Lake Buena Vista, FL - With cheers and confetti still filling the air following the Kansas City Chiefs’ long-awaited victory Sunday in Super Bowl LIV, the game’s Most Valuable Player, Patrick Mahomes, shouted that famous phrase that has become an iconic moment of every Super Bowl: “I’m going to Disney World!” On Monday, Mahomes was whisked from Miami to Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando where he participated in a celebratory parade at Magic Kingdom Park after starring in Disney’s traditional Super Bowl TV commercial. I am pleased to announce that I have joined forces with various non-profit organizations to bring awareness of the Census while hosting numerous Census Day Festivals throughout Osceola County in the coming months. The Census is so important because it happens ONLY ONCE every TEN years, and it helps with funding some of our resources which include healthcare, education, housing, other services and so much more!

New form 1040-SR, alternative filing option available for seniors
Washington - El Servicio de rentas Internos quiere que las personas de edad avanzada conozcan acerca de la disponibilidad de un nuevo formulario de impuestos, el 1040-SR, con una letra más grande y una tabla de deducción estándar, destinado a facilitar la lectura y el uso por parte de las personas de edad avanzada.
Washington - The Internal Revenue Service wants seniors to know about the availability of a new tax form, Form 1040-SR, featuring larger print and a standard deduction chart with a goal of making it easier for older Americans to read and use.
La Ley de Presupuesto Bipartidista, promulgada en 2018, requería que el IRS creara un formulario de impuestos para personas de edad avanzada. The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 required the IRS to create a tax form for seniors. Taxpayers age 65 or older now have the option to use Form 1040-SR, U.S. Tax Return for Seniors at https://www.irs. gov/forms-pubs/about-form-1040sr; Form 1040-SR, when printed, features larger font and better readability. Taxpayers who electronically file Form 1040-SR may notice the change when they print their return. More than 90% of taxpayers now use tax software to prepare and file their tax return. Taxpayers born before January 2, 1955, have the option to file Form 1040-SR whether they are working, not working or retired. The form allows income reporting from other sources common to seniors such as investment income, Social Security and distributions from qualified retirement plans, annuities or similar deferred-payment arrangements. Seniors can use Form 1040-SR to file their 2019 federal income tax return, which is due April 15, 2020.
All lines and checkboxes on Form 1040-SR mirror the Form 1040, and both forms use all the same attached schedules and forms. The revised 2019 Instructions cover both Forms 1040 and 1040-SR. Eligible taxpayers can use Form 1040-SR whether they plan to itemize or take the standard deduction. Taxpayers who itemize deductions can file Form 1040SR with a Schedule A, Itemized Deductions, when filing their return. For those taking the standard deduction, Form 1040-SR includes a chart listing the standard deduction amounts, making it easier to calculate. It also ensures seniors are aware of the increased standard deduction for taxpayers age 65 and older. Married people filing a joint return can use the Form 1040-SR regardless of whether one or both spouses are age 65 or older or retired. Both the 1040 and the 1040-SR use the same "building block" approach introduced last year that can be supplemented with additional Schedules 1, 2 and 3 as needed. Many taxpayers with basic tax situations can file Form 1040 or 1040-SR with no additional schedules.

HHSFMO - Scholarships Hispanic Heritage Scholarship de Metro Orlando inicia solicitudes para becas Orlando, FL – Desde su creación en el 2000, HHSFMO junto con el apoyo de nuestros socios, ha sido capaz de proporcionar más de $1.65 millones en becas para ayudar a más de 330 estudiantes a seguir una educación universitaria. Los beneficiarios de las becas son seleccionados por un comité de voluntarios formado por líderes empresariales y comunitarios y antiguos alumnos que entienden el vínculo entre la educación y el éxito. Hispanic Heritage Scholarship fund of Metro Orlando accepting applications Orlando, FL – Since its inception in 2000, HHSFMO along with the support of partners, has been able to provide more than $1.65 million in scholarships to help more than 330 students pursue a college education. Scholarship recipients are selected by a volunteer committee made up of business and community leaders
and past alumni who understand the link between education and success. Students are selected based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and community involvement, and financial need. Each scholarship is credited directly to the student’s account at the college or university in which he/she is enrolled. The scholarship award may be used to cover tuition, book and/or lab fees. Venezuela Aquí Juan Guaidó culmina gira internacional visitando los Estados Unidos Por Marco A. Jiménez Potenza – El Osceola Star Orlando, Florida - Luego de visitar Colombia, Reino Unido, Bélgica, Suiza, Francia, España y Canadá, el sábado 1ro de febrero del 2020, Juan Guaidó se reunió con la comunidad venezolana que reside en Miami, el 4 de febrero estuvo presente en el congreso de los Estados Unidos para presenciar el discurso del Estado de la Unión y el 5 de febrero sostuvo un encuentro en la Casa Blanca con el presidente Donald Trump. Mientras estaba en Miami, mencionóque “Vamos a tener la oportunidad de regresar a Venezuela para volver a convertirla en el país que era. Mucho es el sacrificio que han hecho los más de 5 millones de migrantes. Hoy estamos juntos todos los países en esta lucha por la libertad”. Posteriormente, recibió la llave del Condado Miami-Dade por parte del alcalde Carlos A. Giménez. Y pidió ayuda a todos los venezolanos en el exterior: “Necesito que se conviertan en una máquina organizada de comunicar lo que pasa en Venezuela. Nosotros allí nos enteramos por ustedes. Tienen un rol muy importante”.
Durante el discurso del Estado de la Unión, el presidente Donald Trump dirigiéndose a Guaidó y al hablar de Venezuela, afirmó que "Maduro es un gobernante ilegítimo, un tirano que brutaliza a su pueblo. Pero el control de Maduro sobre la tiranía será aplastado y quebrado ... Aquí esta noche es un hombre muy valiente que lleva consigo las esperanzas, los sueños y las aspiraciones de todos los venezolanos ... Jiménez Potenza – El Osceola Star Orlando, Florida - After visiting Colombia, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Spain, and Canada, on Saturday, February 1, 2020, Juan Guaidó met with the Venezuelan community residing in Miami, on February 4 he was present at the Congress of the United States to witness the speech of the State of the Union and on February 5 held a meeting in the White House with President Donald Trump. While he was in Miami, Guaidó mentioned that “We will have the opportunity to return to Venezuela to make it the country it was before. Much is the sacrifice made by the more than 5 million migrants. Today we are all countries together in this fight for freedom." Subsequently, Guaidó received the Miami-Dade County key from Mayor Carlos A. Black History Month First black female municipal fire safety inspector in Orange County

Primera inspectora de seguridad contra incendios de la raza negra en el Condado Orange Condado Orange, FL - Hace casi 40 años, un trabajador social habló con unos estudiantes acerca de tener el corazón para servir a otros en la escuela “Evans High School”. Una estudiante llamada Carla McClendon, tuvo una conversación que cambió su vida con la trabajadora social, quien le dijo que debería considerar el trabajo social como su futura carrera profesional. Al año siguiente, alguien del departamento de bomberos vino a hablar, haciendo que McClendon se diera cuenta de que estaba destinada al servicio público. Orange County, FL - Almost 40 years ago, a social worker talked to students about having the heart to serve others at an Evans High School’s Career Day. One student, Carla McClendon, had a life-changing conversation with the social worker, who told her she should consider social work as her future career path. The following year, someone from the fire department came to speak, making McClendon realize she was destined for public service. In 1983, she took advantage of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act – designed to help minorities receive job training in professional settings – and went to work at Orange County Fire Rescue, which was still adjusting to the consolidation of 14 separate fire control districts into one department. It didn’t take long before the determined McClendon was hired full-time as a clerk typist I and then was promoted multiple levels and onto a secretary. She was then promoted to the Fire Loss Management Division, where she performed minor plans review. Shortly after her advancement, she completed a certification course, and passed the state exam and then became the first black female municipal fire safety inspector for Orange County.
As the health and rehabilitative services inspector for the entire county, she was responsible for making sure wiring, fire alarms, fire drills, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire exits and windows were upto-date and functional at day care centers, hospitals, nursing homes and healthcare facilities. Nearly fourteen years later, McClendon’s career evolved again when she transferred to another division: Code Enforcement. After five years with Code Enforcement, McClendon shifted to the Neighborhood Services Division, where she remains today as the project coordinator for the Clean and Attractive Neighborhoods Program. This includes the Neighborhood Clean Up Program, Community Clean Up Program, The Community Code Enforcement Program, and the Yard of the Month Program. Working for Orange County has been a learning experience for McClendon, who after 37 years of public service, has met all kinds of people and seen just about everything. As far as being the first black female municipal fire safety inspector in Orange County is concerned, she puts it into perspective.

Sospechosos de robos a vehículos Arrestos por portar armas y huir de la escena Condado Osceola, FL - El 28/01/20 aproximadamente a las 4:30 p.m., los oficiales del Condado Osceola respondieron al área de 2519 Desoto Drive en referencia a los ocupantes de un vehículo Black Dodge Charger, color negro que fueron vistos disparando armas de fuego en el área. Los agentes vieron el vehículo en la US 192 y mantuvieron contacto visual con el vehículo hasta que llegó el helicóptero del sheriff. Los agentes intentaron detener el tráfico, pero el vehículo huyó a gran velocidad. Los agentes no lo persiguieron, pero el helicóptero siguió al vehículo hasta el Condado Orange. En su intento de huir, los ocupantes arrojaron dos rifles de asalto y una escopeta por la ventana en el área de Osceola Parkway. Estas armas de fuego fueron localizadas y recuperadas por los oficiales. Todos los ocupantes fueron localizados en el área de West Pointe Villas Blvd en Winter Garden. Deputies arrest subjects for weapons charges and fleeing Osceola County, FL - On 1/28/20 at approximately 4:30 P.M., Osceola County sheriff deputies responded to the area of 2519 Desoto Drive in reference to occupants of a black Dodge charger who were seen firing guns in the area. Deputies spotted the vehicle on U.S. 192 and kept eye contact with the vehicle until the sheriff’s helicopter arrived. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Deputies did not pursue but the helicopter followed the vehicle into Orange County. In their attempt to flee, the occupants threw two assault rifles and a shotgun out the window in the area of Osceola Parkway. These firearms were located and retrieved by deputies. All occupants bailed on foot in the area of West Pointe Villas Blvd. in Winter Garden. Five of the 6 suspects involved were arrested. Multiple additional firearms were located on their persons and inside the vehicle. The above suspects face charges ranging from; Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Carrying Concealed Firearm, Resisting an Officer without Violence, discharging a Firearm in Public, and Fleeing and Eluding law enforcement.

Burglary conveyance suspects Osceola County, FL- On 01/29/2020, members of the Tourist Policing Unit and West Property Crimes Unit were conducting surveillance in the area of West Irlo Bronson Highway in reference to recent car burglaries. Deputies responded to the area of 2775 Florida Plaza Drive, Kissimmee, in reference to a burglary conveyance in progress. A witness observed unknown suspects break into two trucks by smashing the windows out. The witness was able to provide a description of the suspects and the suspect vehicle. Responding deputies located the vehicle as it was leaving the scene. Thesuspects fled from deputies at which time deputies successfully deployed a tire deflation system causing the vehicle to come to a stop in the area of 5690 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. As the vehicle came to a stop the driver fled on foot. The other occupants remained in the vehicle and were taken into custody. Cosby-Davis, Brathwaite and Taylor did not cooperate with the investigation and were charged with Armed Burglary to Conveyance, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of Cocaine and Drug Paraphernalia. All three were booked into the Osceola County Jail with no bond. The suspect vehicle was also linked to 11 previous burglaries in the area and a stolen vehicle. The driver of the vehicle is still at large.

Deputies learned from McDonald’s management, a man posed as an employee, wearing a McDonald’s uniform, entered the business and walked towards the cash register. The suspect started working as a cashier when a second subject approached the cashier and placed an order. The suspect opened the cash register, removed cash from the till and the two ran out of the business. This case is the second incident involving the same suspect wearing the McDonald’s uniform. The first incident occurred on December 25, 2019, at the McDonald’s located at 5725 W. Irlo Bronson Highway, Kissimmee, Florida. Wayne Taylor Racing's #10 Cadillac DPi team won the Rolex 24 at Daytona for the third time in the team's history. Why did Kansas City win? After the vibrant Super Bowl LIV in Miami, where we had for all tastes: long passes, interceptions, physical duels, an unexpected return, and a great halftime show, and where in the end the confetti fell on the Kansas City Chiefs, winning the 31-20 match, it's time to list the reasons that led them to the championship. The right arm (and left, and legs) of Patrick Mahomes the meeting was extremely even. On all lines, San Francisco equaled or exceeded KC. In all, except in the quarterback.
