Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority ha lanzado su calendario 2020 de conservación de energía, presentando a los ganadores de su 26º concurso anual de arte estudiantil.
Condado Osceola, FL - El programa "Meals on Wheels" del Osceola Council on Aging de Osceola será el anfitrión de la campaña nacional de marzo 2020 “March for Meals”. KUA presenta el evento March for Meals 5k que se llevará a cabo el sábado, 14 de marzo de 2020 e incluirá una carrera y caminata de 5k (3.1 millas) para individuos y/o equipos corporativos y familiares, esta es la competencia por equipos más grande y animada, una carrera gratis para niños, subasta silenciosa, y los que terminen la carrera recibiran una medalla. Además, si traes alimentos no perecederos, podrás participar en un sorteo especial.
Un panel de jueces seleccionó 12 entradas, una para cada mes calendario, que se presentan en el calendario de pared a todo color. Los estudiantes destacados son:

Carroll Street en Kissimmee, presenta una variedad de consejos de conservación de energía e incorpora el calendario del Distrito Escolar del Condado Osceola para una planificación conveniente. Kissimmee Utility Authority releases 2020 energy conservation calendar Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority has released its 2020 calendar of energy conservation, featuring the winning entries from its 26th annual student art contest. The calendar, available free of charge at the utility’s customer service center at 1701 W. Carroll Street in Kissimmee, features an assortment of energy conservation tips and incorporates the Osceola County School District calendar for convenient planning. Open to Osceola County students in kindergarten through sixth grade, the contest is designed to promote energy conservation among students and their families. Puerto Rico Noticias / News Gobernadora Vázquez firma órdenes ejecutivas para mitigar situaciones tras sismos La Fortaleza, San Juan - La gobernadora Wanda Vázquez Garced firmó varias órdenes ejecutivas que tienen el fin de mitigar las situaciones ocurridas tras sismos que afectan la isla. La orden ejecutiva 2020-007 tiene el fin de autorizar la asignación de 12 millones de dólares, provenientes del fondo de emergencia, con una distribución de 2 millones de dólares, para los municipios de Guánica, Guayanilla, Peñuelas, Ponce, Utuado y Yauco, esto tras los movimientos telúricos que se han registrado por los pasados días. Por otro lado, la primera ejecutiva firmó la Orden Ejecutiva 2020-006, la cual activa las disposiciones de la Ley 762000, según enmendada, que tiene el fin de reestablecer los servicios de telecomunicaciones y data en la isla, a la vez que autoriza que las agencias pertinentes utilicen los medios que estimen necesarios para acceder a todas las torres de telecomunicaciones, instalaciones dedicadas e infraestructura relacionada, ubicada en propiedad privada. Mientras, con el fin de implementar todas las medidas necesarias para salvaguardar el orden público y proteger la vida, seguridad y propiedad de los ciudadanos, la gobernadora firmó la orden ejecutiva 2020-004, la cual establece un cuerpo de oficiales de paz que asista a las fuerzas de orden público estatales. Dicha orden también deroga el boletín administrativo OE2017-052.
Dicha orden constituye un Cuerpo de Oficiales de Paz -Peace Officers- para que brinden apoyo y asistencia en el área de seguridad, a los agentes del orden público estatales. El mismo estará compuesto por todos los funcionarios del orden público federal que tengan facultad en ley para efectuar arrestos y que estén en el desempeño de sus funciones. Finalmente, la primera ejecutiva firmó la orden ejecutiva 2020 - 003, que tiene el fin de que los médicos u osteópatas, médicos asistentes y profesionales de la salud de otras jurisdicciones de los Estados Unidos puedan ejercer la medicina y servicios de salud en la isla, así como otorgar inmunidad del estado a estos profesionales voluntarios de Puerto Rico y otras jurisdicciones. Dicha orden permite que estos profesionales de la salud presten servicios y que sean acreditados bajo los parámetros establecidos, puedan ejercer sin solicitar una licencia expedita y serán considerados en carácter de empleados del gobierno de Puerto Rico y cobijados por la inmunidad otorgada por el Artículo 41.050 de la Ley Num. 77, según enmendada, conocida como el Código de Seguros de Puerto Rico, siempre y cuando actúen en cumplimiento de sus deberes y funciones del gobierno de Puerto Rico. Esta orden ejecutiva entra en vigor de manera inmediata y su aplicación será retroactiva al 7 de enero del 2020, día en que se otorgó el estado de emergencia bajo la OE 2020-01.
Governor Vázquez signs executive orders to mitigate situations after earthquakes La Fortaleza, San Juan - Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced signed several executive orders that aim to mitigate situations that have occurred after earthquakes affecting the island. The executive order 2020-007 has the purpose of authorizing the allocation of 12 million dollars, coming from the emergency fund, with a distribution of 2 million dollars, for the municipalities of Guánica, Guayanilla, Peñuelas, Ponce, Utuado and Yauco, after the earthquakes that have been recorded for the past few days. On the other hand, the governor signed Executive Order 2020-006, which activates the provisions of Law 76-2000, as amended, which has the purpose of restoring telecommunications and data services on the island, while authorizes the relevant agencies to use the means they deem necessary to access all telecommunications towers, dedicated facilities and related infrastructure, located on private property. Meanwhile, in order to implement all necessary measures to safeguard public order and protect the life, safety and property of citizens, the governor signed executive order 2020-004, which establishes a body of peace officers to assist State law enforcement. This order also repeals the administrative bulletin OE-2017-052.
Said order constitutes a Corps of Peace Officers - Peace Officers - to provide support and assistance in the area of security to state law enforcement agents. It will be composed of all federal law enforcement officials who have the power in law to make arrests and are in the performance of their duties. Finally, the governor signed executive order 2020 - 003, which has the goal fallowing doctors or osteopaths, assisting doctors and health professionals from other jurisdictions in the United States to practice medicine and health services on the island, as well as granting immunity from the state to these volunteer professionals from Puerto Rico and other jurisdictions. This order allows these health professionals to provide services and to be accredited under the established parameters; can exercise without requesting an expedited license; and will be considered as employees of the Government of Puerto Rico and covered by the immunity granted by Article 41.050 of Law No. 77, as amended, known as the Puerto Rico Insurance Code, provided they act in compliance with their duties and functions of the government of Puerto Rico. This executive order comes into effect immediately and its application will be retroactive to January 7, 2020, the day the state of emergency was granted under OE 2020-01.

Escuelas / Schools Las instalaciones de Canoe Creek Charter Academy regresan al Distrito Escolar de Osceola Condado Osceola, FL - La Junta Escolar del Condado Osceola votó para devolver Canoe Creek Charter Academy al Distrito Escolar de Osceola que originalmente arrendó la instalación a Education Foundation y es propietario del terreno en el que se encuentra la escuela. La decisión se produjo después de un esfuerzo de colaboración entre la Junta Escolar, Education Foundation y Charter Schools USA (CSUSA), la cual administra la escuela. El distrito anticipa la necesidad de capacidad adicional en los salones de clase ya que algunas de sus escuelas están alcanzando inscripción máxima y las proyecciones de crecimiento futuro requieren más espacio. En lugar de invertir en expansiones o nuevas instalaciones escolares, el distrito quería utilizar mejor sus activos existentes. Canoe Creek Charter Academy facility returns to Osceola School District Osceola County, FL - The Osceola County School Board voted to return Canoe Creek Charter Academy to the Osceola School District who originally leased the facility to the Education Foundation and owns the land on which the school is located. The decision came after a collaborative effort among the School Board, the Education Foundation and Charter Schools USA (CSUSA), which manages the school. The district anticipates the need for additional classroom capacity as some of its schools are reaching full enrollment and future growth projections require more space. Instead of investing in expansions or new school facilities, the district wanted to better utilize its existing assets. Beginning July 1, 2020, Canoe Creek Charter will no longer be a charter school, and will serve students in grades K-6 as a district school. Students
and teachers will have opportunities to remain with Charter Schools USAmanaged schools or return to a districtmanaged school in their home zone or attend one of the district's many choice options. Current plans are to extend to a K-8 model in August 2021, with all of the standard district amenities for K-8 schools including a full gym, track, media center, and fine arts programs. The Osceola School District will hold several informational meetings over the next few weeks with faculty and families to explore options and determine next steps. Dates and locations will be announced via the district's website and through phone calls and mail outs. Orlando, FL – On Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the General Consulate of Colombia in Orlando, took place the official opening of the first health window, which will run every two weeks on Fridays from 9 am to 2 pm. This window will be supported by Orlando Family Physicians.
El Consulado de Colombia atiende diariamente alrededor de 70 personas y junto a la fundación COAMED han notado la necesidad de prestar un servicio gratuito de chequeo médico básico para la creciente comunidad colombiana en el área centro y norte de la Florida. Con esta ventanilla se beneficiarán alrededor de 1,800 personas en el primer año de funcionamiento, esto sin contar que nuestra comunidad crece semanalmente.
The Colombian Consulate helps about 70 people daily and, together with COAMED Foundation, have noticed the need to provide a free basic medical check-up service for the growing Colombian community in central and northern Florida. This window will benefit around 1,800 people in the first year of operation, not to mention that our community grows weekly. Who is part of this? The Colombian Consulate in Orlando, which opened its doors in March 2012 and currently serves approximately 18,000 people. COAMED, a non-profit foundation that has been serving the Colombian community since 2015 by doing humanitarian missions to different parts of Colombia and is now serving the needs of the Central Florida community. And finally, Orlando Family Physicians; an organization that has been operating and serving the Central Florida community for more than 17 years.

Shooting investigation Osceola County, FL - On January 6, 2020, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Baymont Inn located at 7601 Black Lake Road in Kissimmee.
Deputies learned that a dark colored vehicle driving south on Sherberth Road shot at the hotel striking the wall area near one of the hotel rooms. The gunshot was reported to have occurred around 4:50 A.M. There were no injuries in this case.
