During the 2019 Legislative Session, Governor DeSantis worked with the Florida Legislature to secure historic funding for Florida’s students and families, including $10 million dedicated to career and technical education for the newly created Florida Pathways to Career Opportunities Grant Program. The program provides competitive grants to eligible institutions to create or expand apprenticeship and preapprenticeship programs. KUA is part of Municipal Solar Project Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority participated in a groundbreaking event for the Florida Municipal Solar Project, a large-scale solar energy project that will enable KUA to provide renewable energy to its customers, beginning next summer. One of the largest municipally-backed solar projects in the United States, the Florida Municipal Solar Project is a joint effort between KUA, 11 other Florida municipal electric utilities, the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) and Florida Renewable Partners, LLC. A total of 900,000 solar panels will be installed at two sites in Osceola County and at one site in Orange County — enough solar panels to fill 900 football fields or stretch from Jacksonville Beach to Key West two and a half times. The total generating capability will be 223.5 megawatts of zero-emissions energy, which
is enough to power 45,000 typical Florida homes. KUA has agreed to purchase 30 megawatts of power from the project. Construction on phase one of the project will continue through mid2020. Kelvin Soto nombrado presidente de la Junta Escolar del Condado Osceola Kissimmee, FL - La Junta Escolar del Condado Osceola nombró a Kelvin Soto como presidente de la Junta y a Tim Weisheyer como vicepresidente de la Junta, a partir del 19 de noviembre de 2019. El presidente Soto fue elegido por primera vez para la Junta Escolar del Condado Osceola en el 2012. Kelvin sirvió a su país como miembro del Cuerpo de la Armada y cursó la universidad y la escuela de posgrado por medio del GI Bill. Se graduó de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de California, Berkeley y ha tenido una carrera profesional distinguida ayudando a quienes más lo necesitan.

Kelvin Soto named Chairman of Osceola County School Board Kissimmee, FL The Osceola County School Board has named Kelvin Soto as Board Chairman and Tim Weisheyer as Board ViceChairman, effective November 19, 2019. Chairman Soto was first elected to the Osceola County School Board in 2012. Kelvin served his country as a Navy Corpsman, and worked his way through college and graduate school on the GI Bill. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, and has had a distinguished career helping those who needed it the most.
"I appreciate the confidence and support from my School Board and the school district to serve as chairman," said Kelvin Soto. "Osceola residents have much to be proud of when it comes to arts, music, and STEM choices. The school district will continue to work its very best to bring more opportunities to our students." Osceola County School Board meetings were set for the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the School District Administrative Complex, located at 817 Bill Beck Blvd. in Kissimmee.

En los Estados Unidos, la comunidad venezolana mediante organizaciones locales logró manifestarse en más de 20 ciudades. Mientras que en el estado de la Florida, manifestaciones se llevaron a cabo en las ciudades de Miami, Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa, Jacksonville, y West Palm Beach. Demostrando de esta manera el descontento ante la situación actual y la solicitud de una ayuda concreta a la comunidad internacional para solucionar la creciente emergencia social y humanitaria.
“Tenemos que insistir hasta que el poder de las armas esté del lado de la Constitución, y no del usurpador. Hoy Venezuela nos reclama, hoy tenemos que seguir avanzando y mantener la protesta hasta lograr la libertad”. Afirmó el presidente interino Juan Guaidó durante su discurso en la manifestación principal de la ciudad de Caracas. Para luego anunciar en sus redes sociales que las protestas continuarán y pidió a los venezolanos acompañarlas, mencionó que “el lunes protestas en todas las calles, el martes acompañaremos a las enfermeras, el miércoles a los profesores y el jueves marcha con los estudiantes”. Cabe destacar que la siguiente gran protesta nacional se llevará a cabo el jueves, 21 de noviembre, en donde acompañarán a los estudiantes hacia la instalación militar del Fuerte Tiuna, para exigirles a los miembros de la Fuerza Armada Nacional que se ponga del lado del pueblo venezolano y la Constitución.

Osceola Commission approves effort to improve roads Osceola County, FL - The Board of County Commissioners approved its biggest investment in transportation infrastructure in the last decade by a 4-0 vote. Approval to refinance the Osceola Parkway will generate approximately $200 million to improve 5 priority roads, including but not limited to the following:
· Simpson Road, from U.S. 192 to Osceola Parkway · Boggy Creek Road, from Simpson Road to Narcoossee Road ·Bill Beck Boulevard, from Woodcrest to Osceola Parkway ·Poinciana Boulevard, from Pleasant Hill Road to Crescent Lakes Way ·Partin Settlement Road, from Neptune Road to E. Lakeshore Boulevard These roads were prioritized based on a number of factors, including traffic congestion, the number of accidents, cost feasibility and a connection to Osceola Parkway. The County will start the refinancing process immediately. Once complete, work efforts on the identified roads will follow, starting with design of the roadway improvements, rightof-way acquisition and ultimately construction.
The County is able to make these transportation improvements by leveraging an existing resource and maximizing Osceola’s excellent reputation with agencies that rate the County’s creditworthiness. Commissioners noted that while this work is an effort to improve transportation infrastructure, it will not meet Osceola County’s overall transportation demands. After voters rejected a 30-year plan to pour $2 billion into Osceola County’s transportation needs earlier this year, Commissioners recognize that doing nothing simply is not a realistic option. Osceola County currently faces over a $1.1 billion backlog of needed transportation improvements. Addressing traffic congestion in one of the fastest growing counties in the state is of critical importance despite a deficit of traditional funding to fix the problem. While an ambitious start, the current proposal will address only about 10 percent of what would have been available if voters had approved April’s transportation surtax proposal. The transportation surtax funds would have been spent on expanding additional roads, bridging sidewalk gaps, building more bicycle and pedestrian trails, improving intersections and enhancing mass transit services. Prior to the surtax referendum and the new refinancing plan, the County made efforts to regulate growth to ensure that future development will economically benefit the County.

Sheriff - Noticias / News Holiday shopping safety tips Osceola County, FL - With the holiday season soon approaching, the Osceola County Sheriff Office is encouraging residents to make yourself, your family, and neighborhood safer. Residents are urged to keep vehicles locked at all times, especially during shopping. Do not tempt a thief by leaving items like laptops, GPS devices, cell phones, money, purses and wallets, visible and in plain view. During the holiday season, the Sheriff Office urges residents to be proactive and report any suspicious activity by calling 9-1-1 and to do the following tips: Shop during daylight hours whenever possible. If you must shop at night, go with a friend or family member. Avoid wearing expensive jewelry.

Bondy, Esq. the property deed Sometimes, homeowners want to consider the idea of adding a family member or someone else to the title deed of their property. Often, this notion is based on the idea that making that person an owner of the property now will help make succession easier later on. While that may be true in some cases, there are significant risks and liabilities associated with adding someone’s name to your property deed.

Cuestiones de financiamiento e impuestos Si su casa está hipotecada o está utilizando un HELOC (Línea de crédito sobre el valor acumulado de la vivienda, por sus siglas en inglés), puede descubrir que viola los términos de esa hipoteca o HELOC para transferir intereses sobre la casa a otra persona al agregarlos a la escritura de propiedad. Incluso en los casos en que el prestamista permite dicha transferencia, es posible
que deba dinero por nuevos sellos documentales. Si luego desea vender o refinanciar la casa, necesitará firmas de cada persona nombrada en la escritura de propiedad. Si sus copropietarios no están de acuerdo con la venta o el refinanciamiento, usted estará imposibilitado o enfrentará la posibilidad de llevarlos a los tribunales. Potential loss or reduction of homestead exemption The Florida State Constitution, Article X, Section 4, exempts properly designated homestead property from forced sale under process of any court. This exemption was created to prevent people from losing the homes they live in to creditors and allows homestead property to be transferred to your spouse and/or children free from creditor claims upon your death. If the person you add to the deed for your primary residence does not live there (for example, an adult child), your homestead exemption is reduced by half, because there are now two owners, but only one of them resides in the house. Adding a non-resident to the title weakens your Homestead Exemption protection. Financing & tax issues If your home is mortgaged or you’re using a HELOC (Home Equity Line Of Credit), you may discover that it violates the terms of that mortgage or HELOC to transfer interest in the home to another person by adding them to the property deed. Even in cases where the lender allows such a transfer, you may owe money for new documentary stamps.
If you later want to sell or refinance the house, you will need signatures from every person named on the property deed. If your co-owners don’t agree to the sale or refinance, you’re either going to be stuck, or facing the prospect of taking them to court. Finally, it is likely that the person you add to the property deed will ultimately pay more income tax when the property is sold after you are deceased because they lose the stepped-up tax basis they would have had if they’d inherited the property through probate or a trust. Potential liability When you add someone to the property deed of your home, the home becomes that person’s asset, in addition to being yours. That means that if your new co-owner files bankruptcy or has a judgment filed against them by a creditor, the house is an asset that can be encumbered by their creditors, despite the fact that it’s your primary residence. Keep your homestead exemption protection intact The relative simplicity of adding your heir’s name to the property deed for your home may seem appealing, but for most people, it’s not the best solution. Disney is the first organization the airport has invited to create artistic renderings that wrap shuttle stations within the airline terminals. However, this year it seems that it’s either the division or nothing for Dallas, with a very tight NFC and the Eagles breathing on their necks. The solution may be in college: Lincoln Riley, current Oklahoma coach, or Jim Harbaugh from Michigan, if he wants to return to the NFL. Or in the unemployment stock: Mike McCarthy, a former Green Bay HC who made them champions. I am sure that with a better Head Coach, this talented team can finally return to ancient glories.
