PURPOSE OF THE CIRC

This circ includes designed layouts with approved imagery, copy, pricing and pagination. This is a fact-checking round to address errors and missing info.

DISCLAIMER:

PROOFING RESPONSIBILITIES Product Developers: product & technical accuracy, features, content, care, origin, item#, suffixes, colors & codes, sizes & equivalents.

Lead Merchandise Managers: (DMMs, VPs, GMMs) same as Merchandisers, plus final responsibility to answer any outstanding questions. Accept or reject annotations. May offer commentary on qualitative aspects of copy.

Merchandisers: product messaging, correct photos, inserts, call-outs, pricing, promos, headlines, authenticity of claims, product positioning, features/benefits.

Brand Leaders assures layout and copy are consistent with Orvis brand strategies, & individual catalog visions.

Merchandise Info. Specialists: item#, suffixes, colors & codes, personalization, shipping, prices, promos, prefixes (catalog vs index).

Merchandise Operations: ensures each item has been purchased.

Lead Copywriter: correct voice, writing style, romance, proper salesmanship, grammar, brevity, word choice, etc

Marketing: versions, tests, covers, dot whacks and other copy relevant to marketing objectives.

Merchandise Planning: review presentations for necessary re-forecast due to the quality of the presentation.

PROOFING PROTOCOL: 1. Make alternate arrangements for proofing if you’re out of the office during the circ. 2. Communicate with your team outside the circ and post the resolution or directive in the circ. 3. Bring concerns to lead managers. 4. Read the disclaimers on the cover sheet, they can save you proofing time.
