Oro Valley Town Council recently adopted the OV Trails Connect Master Plan, which will guide how the Town maintains, improves and expands its trail and path system in the years ahead. THANK YOU to all the residents who helped develop this plan! We received more than 1,500 comments and responses which helped us identify trail use, priorities and opportunities for improvement. To keep our residents engaged, the Town has launched the OV Trails Connect Master Plan web page, creating a central place for the community to explore the plan and stay informed as it is implemented in the coming months and years. About one year ago, Oro Valley Town Council approved the purchase of the medical office building at 13101 N. Oracle Road for the purpose of converting it into the future home of the Oro Valley Police Department headquarters. In addition to relieving capacity issues in the existing building, the new headquarters would enable the department to consolidate operations, which improves efficiency and response times to better serve the public. The Town is still in the very early stages of this multi-year project. Current work is focused on schematic designs and building upgrades and maintenance, including HVAC and roofing repairs. Keep an eye on social media for updates on our progress!
Update: Naranja Drive multi-use path
Last month, we announced on social media that construction of the Naranja Drive multi-use path was temporarily delayed while ADOT awaited the delivery of materials and resolved some utility issues. As this newsletter went to press, TEP had just completed relocation of a utility line and pole installation, and Granite Construction is tentatively scheduled to resume work on July 6. The remaining construction is expected to take 4-6 weeks, monsoon/weather permitting.
Update: OV Marketplace redevelopment
Last month, Mayor Winfield and Town staff joined representatives from property owner Town West, developer HSL Properties, and Borderlands Construction to cut the ribbon on North Park, the first completed milestone in a multi-phase redevelopment project at the Oro Valley Marketplace. Although North Park is part of a private development, it is open to the public and includes a playground, splash pad and a gathering place for small community events. The park is part of Phase 1 of the project, which also includes Encantada at Oro Valley Marketplace, a 320-unit apartment community currently being constructed just south of Tangerine Road.
