Council adopts new 2.5% Local Use Tax

NEW! Celebrate Oro Valley Concert Series

For many months, Town Council, staff, residents and business owners have been discussing three new proposed taxes to address rising operational costs, aging infrastructure and the Town’s long-term financial stability. The proposed new taxes—Local Use Tax, Telecommunications Tax, and Commercial Rental Tax— came before Council for final decision on January 14, 2026. Of the three options, only the 2.5% Local Use Tax received approval and will go into effect January 1, 2026. A Use Tax is applied to large purchases made outside of Town boundaries. The tax, which will primarily impact businesses, is estimated to generate about $375,000 to $600,000 annually. Those revenues will be used to fund capital improvement projects.

In lieu of a one-day Celebrate Oro Valley event this spring, the Town invites you to Celebrate OV all spring long with a 10-week concert series! Beginning Friday, March 6, and running every Friday night through May 8, enjoy live music and scenic views at Steam Pump Ranch, 10901 N. Oracle Road. This FREE concert series is great for all ages, so grab your friends and family and join us at the Ranch! The music kicks off at 6 p.m. for the first few concerts. (The start time will shift to 7 p.m. as the days get longer). For complete details and the list of performing bands, click here or check out the event calendar at OVAZ.gov.
