Congratulations to the projected winners of OV’s mayor and council races Editor’s Note: At the time this newsletter went to press, Pima County Elections was still processing a small number of ballots. Based on unofficial election returns, the following candidates were projected to win their races. Official results will not be final until the Pima County Board of Supervisors canvasses the election on August 3, 2026.

Based on unofficial election results, the Town of Oro Valley congratulates mayoral candidate Melanie Barrett and council candidates Rosa Daily, Rhonda Piña and Matt Wood, who are projected to win their respective races. If the election results are certified by the Pima County Board of Supervisors, the newly elected mayor and councilmembers will be sworn in on November 4, 2026, and begin serving four-year terms, alongside councilmembers Harry "Mo" Greene, Mary Murphy and Elizabeth Robb who are mid-way through their four-year terms. Until November 4, Mayor Joe Winfield and outgoing councilmembers, Joyce Jones-Ivey and Josh Nicolson will continue serving out the remainder of their terms. In the coming months, OV residents will have the opportunity to learn more about our projected incoming mayor and councilmembers. For now, here are a few quick facts from their public bios. MELANIE BARRETT has served on the Oro Valley Town Council since 2018, during which time she was selected as Vice Mayor by her fellow councilmembers. She previously served on the Planning and Zoning Commission beginning in 2015. ROSA DAILEY is a founding member of Preserve Vistoso. Her professional background includes technical writing, the insurance industry, and creating and operating a medical research nonprofit. RHONDA PIÑA is a previous OV Councilmember (2016-2020) who spent 29 years in the financial services industry. Currently, she serves as Deputy Director for Pima County’s Community and Workforce Development Department. MATT WOOD began serving on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board in 2020 and currently serves as President of the Vistoso Community Association. The Town of Oro Valley thanks every candidate who chose to run for office this year. Running for public office requires a significant commitment, and our democratic process is strengthened when voters have meaningful choices.
