Monsoon Safety Monsoon season is officially here, and we need your help making sure the Town of Oro Valley stays safe and clean during the summer rainy season. If you see any water quality, pollution or flooding issues, please contact the Stormwater Utility via phone at 520-229-4850 or via email at pw@orovalleyaz.gov. Make sure you and your family are prepared for the monsoon! Take a look at Oro Valley’s Monsoon Preparedness Guide and sign up for safety alerts from the Town and Pima County. Free sandbags for OV residents The Town of Oro Valley will once again provide free sandbags to Oro Valley residents who may need to protect areas of their homes from storm runoff. Sandbag pickup is located at 9451 N. Egleston Drive, which is behind the fields at James D. Kriegh Park. Sandbags will be available June 15 through September 30, or while supplies last. The sandbags are self service—please bring your own shovel and be prepared to load your own sand. Voter information—new primary date this year! Did you know that Oro Valley’s elections are historically determined in the primary? Here is some important information to help you prepare for this year’s primary election. • • • • • •

Oro Valley elections are managed through the Pima County Recorder’s Office. Three (3) Oro Valley Town Council seats are up for election, and there will be four (4) candidates on the primary ballot. Notice to voters who are registered as Independent or Party Not Designated: To receive a primary election ballot, you MUST either select a party ballot or select a city/town-only ballot. July 1 is the last date to register to vote (via Pima County Recorder’s Office) July 19 is the last day to request a mail ballot. TUESDAY, JULY 30 is the new primary election date.
