The Town of Oro Valley’s 2023/24 fiscal year began July 1, and while it’s important for all residents to have access to budget information, we realize not everyone has the interest or time to peruse a lengthy, technical budget document. To make the budget more accessible, we publish a simple, two-page summary each year entitled, “Know Your Town’s Budget.” A quick review of this document will provide an overview of the Town’s key revenues and expenditures, as well as a closer look at the services provided, such as public safety, roads and road maintenance, and parks and recreation. Click here to view the document or visit www.orovalleyaz.gov and type YOUR BUDGET in the search bar.

Community Center parking lot update Work continues at the Community and Recreation Center to reconfigure and expand the parking lot. The contractor for the project is KE&G and so far, crews have completed removing all the previous barriers and are in the process of grading and compacting the parking lot area. When that is finished, the concrete curbs will be poured, and the solar light foundations will follow. The project is contracted through mid-October (weather permitting) and will add approximately 120 new permanent parking spaces for CRC patrons. The Town appreciates your continued patience as we work to improve parking at this popular facility!

NARANJA PARK EXPANSION PROJECT If you have visited Naranja Park lately, you might have noticed some green on the new fields! The expansion project reached another exciting milestone with the planting of fields 5 and 6 to start the turf. The new fields were planted by distributing turf grass sprigs with fertilizers and wood hydromulch and will be kept wet for a few weeks until they start sprouting. The final contract for the remaining improvements, which include the skate park, pump track and splash pad, was recently signed and now we are on our way to complete the park improvements. Lots of things to look forward to when the park opens in spring 2024!

The Town cut the ribbon on the Steam Pump Ranch Barbeque and Bunkhouse Restoration Project on July 18. This project, which is part of the Ranch’s Master Plan, represents the Town’s commitment to preserving the history of the Ranch, while also expanding its accessibility to the public. The new buildings will serve as multi-use spaces for events and activities, including new public restrooms. Click here for more information.

Mayor Winfield wrote an article entitled "Stewardship through Partnership” for the July 19 Explorer Newspaper. The article focuses on the many ways Oro Valley has partnered with other organizations and residents in the spirit of environmental stewardship over the past fiscal year.
