A Word from the Chief

Fellow members of the First Pacific Community,

Our main feature in this issue of The View reports on our celebration of First Pacific’s 45th anniversary and I am sure that you – like me – will see it as a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the First Pacific story and how we got here. It is an enjoyable and fascinating tale.

Elsewhere in this issue you can read about our company delivering a fifth year in a row of successive record high in recurring income; in fact, fiscal 2025 was the seventh year in a row of earnings growth. Such consistent strong performance doesn’t come without rewards: the S&P ratings agency recently lifted First Pacific’s credit rating to “BBB” from “BBB-” after deciding to double its valuation of our 49.9% of MPIC to US$3.8 billion from US$1.9 billion, in line with valuations provided by equity research analysts.

In its own value-promoting move, PLDT has deployed an artificial intelligence-powered conversational assistant to support its Enterprise teams with timely network intelligence and product insights. The aim is to provide customer service representatives with the information or data they need as they converse with customers, enhancing efficiency and quality of PLDT’s and Smart’s customer engagement – a win-win!

The winning extends to Maya, PLDT’s 38%-owned digital bank, which has been named Neobank of the Year

and recognized for Best Digital Fraud Protection Experience at The Asset Triple A Digital Awards 2026, reflecting how its digital banking services are built around trust in everyday use. Elsewhere, Maya was the only Philippine digital bank to reach the top 20 in The Asian Banker’s “World’s top 100 Digital Banks Ranking 2026.”

Also in the Philippines, Meralco PowerGen’s MTerra Solar project has energized the first 250 megawatts of its solar capacity, building momentum towards its eventual goal of 3,500 MWp of solar power supported by 4,500 MWh of battery energy storage system (“BESS”).

In Indonesia, Axton Salim has earned recognition as one of the country’s leading marketing experts with the award of The Best Industry Marketing Champion 2025 in the Food and Beverage Sector in recognition of his leadership in navigating an increasingly competitive landscape by combining deep consumer insight with agile marketing strategies.

Last, let us not forget the IPO of Maynilad on the Philippine Stock Exchange late last year. It was the second-biggest ever new listing and won meaningful awards from the financial press. Read on inside to learn more.

FROM RISK TO ROAD MAP

In a moving speech that reflected the arc of corporate history as well as personal challenges, Pangilinan said, “45 years ago, on a bright Monday morning in the Hong Kong summer, Bob Meyer and I stepped onto our very first office - rented furniture included - of 50 square meters, to meet our entire staff of four people.

“At the start, Bob and I didn’t know much else - except for deal doing which was my thing, lawyering for

Bob’s. We did know our future was just the vast unknown - pretty much like the recent knee surgery I just had - a major procedure whose broader health implications I failed to assess beforehand.

“As to my knees, well, every small step has become a major achievement. Suddenly, standing up feels like winning a badminton championship. Walking across the room deserves applause. And finding a comfortable sleeping position takes more engineering than designing a power plant.

“It took us 45 years for the long arc of history to raise our very first Christmas celebration of 6 people in 1981 in my flat in Hong Kong - to this historic Meralco Theater tonight with all of you.

“If I could go back - and stand again in that small 50-square foot room and speak to my 35-year-old self - I would tell myself: Look around. There is something sacred about small beginnings that you cannot feel until they are behind you. There was freedom in being young. We risked freely.

“At one time, First Pacific was all over the world - a global trading company based in Amsterdam, two banks in California, a bank in Hong Kong and the Philippines, and more.”

FINDING COHERENCE

“What started as a pure investment company - investing in banks and trading companies, evolved in 1988 to become an investment and management company. Eventually, First Pacific’s investments began to

connect the dots into something none of us had ever conjured, much less memorialized, into a coherent road map. God, after all, does not write in straight lines.

“And what accumulated, over 45 years of being completely honest with ourselves and our governance, was a group that found itself woven into the fabric of daily Filipino life. The water people drink in the morning. The power that lights their homes at night. The roads that take them to work. The connections that keep them close to the people they love.”

“We may own luxury cars, but today, the vehicle that matters most for me is a 16-year-old, thrice-depreciated van - because it is the only one that can carry me, my wheelchair, and my hope for recovery.

“The luxury cars may remain in the garage for now, but real wealth is with us here in this theater - family, friends, faith, and the determination to stand and walk again.”

THE TRADITION OF LEADERSHIP

“Finally, I take inspiration from the movie - Conclave, where the Dean of the College of Cardinals … in his homily prayed that the new Pope be a doubting Pope.

“We all know business abhors uncertainty and the unknown. But if all things were certain in our world,

there is no need for projections or forecasts; there would be no need for CFOs or even CEOs, because there is really nothing for them to do when all forecasts become predictable. We shouldn’t dislike the mystery brought by the unknown in our lives. I know it makes life more complicated for us, but it’s also what makes living so dynamic, so alive, so interesting.

“The 45 years that we celebrate today is the First Pacific of the past. We must now put our face forward and look towards the First Pacific of the future. I hope and pray that we are able to develop leaders who doubt. That I doubt freely - and even proudly - has made me a better person, and a better leader. I hope this tradition of leadership continues on for First Pacific.” <<

Earnings rise to fifth successive record high

“ Our fifth year in a row of successive record highs for recurring profit suggests that the purpose of the Company is one that can deliver steady and growing earnings, namely that being a mature market-listed means of accessing the growth inherent in defensive emerging market businesses is a solid recipe for success. While we of course constantly review our investments for performance, we feel that we have a model that works. ”

OUTLOOK

With most of First Pacific’s core holdings benefiting from the strong momentum in earnings growth in recent years, the management is confident that, over the medium term, this company will continue to perform well. However, with an uncertain geopolitical outlook compounded by tensions in the Middle East, it is very likely that input costs for First Pacific’s various businesses will be higher in 2026 than a year earlier.

S&P LIFTS FIRST PACIFIC RATING TO “BBB”

On 29 April 2026, First Pacific received an upgrade to its investment-grade issuer credit rating by Standard & Poor’s Global Ratings (“S&P”) to “BBB” from “BBB-”, with stable outlook, citing enhanced portfolio valuation and liquidity following an updated assessment of the Company’s underlying investments by the rating agency.

“The improved investment-grade credit rating from S&P testifies to the strength and resilience of First Pacific and the value created across our underlying investments,” said First Pacific Managing Director and CEO Manuel V Pangilinan. “Given the current uncertainty in global markets amid tensions in the Middle East, we regard this rating upgrade as a source of confidence going forward.”

S&P CHANGES ITS METHODOLOGY

The key change in S&P’s analysis lies in how the rating agency measures the value of the Company’s 49.9% stake in MPIC, which was delisted from the Philippine Stock Exchange in 2023 and privatized. S&P has moved from a book value to a sum-ofthe-parts valuation which incorporates the prorata market capitalization of listed companies, specifically Maynilad and Meralco, where MPIC is a shareholder. S&P states that it “better reflects First Pacific’s real market value and ability to sell its stakes in publicly traded companies.”

S&P’s new methodology doubles the value of First Pacific’s stake in MPIC to US$3.8 billion from US$1.9 billion earlier. The change increases the gross asset value of the First Pacific portfolio under S&P’s estimation to US$7.6 billion. This aligns with equity research coverage by Citigroup Inc. and CITIC CLSA.

In January 2026, Moody’s Investors Service re-affirmed an issuer credit rating of Baa3 with Stable outlook on First Pacific. <<

PLDT IS FIRST SOUTHEAST

ASIAN TELCO TO RUN CONVERSATIONAL AI

PLDT deploys an AIpowered conversational assistant to support its PLDT Enterprise teams with timely network intelligence and product insights.

Dubbed KAI, which stands for “Knowledge, Automation, Intelligence,” the solution is a conversational agent from UiPath, a leader in agentic business orchestration. KAI enhances human engagements by simplifying processes, reducing response times and improving the quality of

customer conversations overall. PLDT and Smart Head of Network Strategy and Architecture Eric Santiago noted, “Before KAI, our teams had to dig for answers in the middle of a customer conversation. Now the information comes to them. That improves how fast we respond, how well we design solutions, how much our customers trust us.”

DELIVERING BETTER OUTCOMES FOR CUSTOMERS

For enterprise customers, this translates into more efficient engagements. “Soon, we can even automate the creation of solutions specific to customer needs,” Santiago added. “When our teams are equipped with the right information at the right time, customers benefit through more reliable connectivity, stronger solutions, and partnerships built on trust and transparency.”

The launch of KAI is part of PLDT’s continuing investments in innovations to enhance its network. This also contributes to the PLDT Group’s endeavors to help the Philippines achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“UNSDGs”), particularly SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. <<

Smart, Ericsson, Meta in joint network optimization

Delivering major improvements in Messenger call quality across the Philippines

Millions of Messenger users in the Philippines are now enjoying clearer, more reliable voice and video calls, following a joint network enhancement effort collaboration between Smart Communications, Ericsson, Smart, Ericsson, and Meta representatives collaborating on network optimization.

PLDT and Smart engineers and executives with UiPath representatives.

e PLDT PARTNERS WITH CSG FOR SERVICES TRANSFORMATION

ePLDT has appointed global SaaS provider, CSG, to support the upgrade and expansion of its ICT and data center services.

ePLDT and CSG have an over 20-year business relationship. The enhanced services will provide enterprise customers with more tailored services, faster activation and streamlined billing processes.

“As we continue to advance our digital transformation capabilities, our focus is to deliver tangible value for our customers by simplifying engagements and enabling faster outcomes,” said ePLDT and VITRO Inc. President

and CEO Victor S Genuino. “With its deep domain expertise and longstanding relationship with PLDT, CSG plays an important role in helping us deliver more responsive, efficient, and customer-centric experiences for Philippine enterprises.”

The enhanced service solutions from CSG will enable ePLDT to grow sustained revenue and customer value and simplify complex processes, as it scales its data, AI, cloud and cybersecurity services to meet demand. In turn, these capabilities enable enterprises to reduce complexity, accelerate decision-making, and stay competitive by accessing ICT services that are easier to understand, procure, and deploy. <<

and Meta’s team in the Philippines. By optimizing network performance at scale, the partners reduced call disruptions and delays - making everyday Messenger conversations smoother and more dependable. Additionally, these benefits were felt across several calling apps, not just Messenger.

EVERYDAY EXCELLENCE

“This initiative with Ericsson and Meta aligns with our commitment to delivering exceptional service quality to all our customers. These improvements mean their video calls over Messenger are sharper, and they can enjoy continuous calls with their loved ones. We are grateful for this opportunity to turn innovation into everyday excellence, to the benefit of our customers,” said Smart Communications Head of Network Debbie M Hu. <<

PLDT showcases customerfirst network transformation

PLDT innovates by focusing on a customer-first principle.

At the 2026 Mobile World Congress (“MWC”) in Barcelona this March, PLDT and Smart highlighted how the Group is transforming their integrated fixed and wireless networks to deliver better, more consistent customer experience.

PLDT and Smart Head of Network Quality and Service Assurance, Ariel C Medina said, “Our guiding principle is simple: The customer is our North Star. Every investment, every

process, and every innovation we pursue must ultimately answer one goal, and that is to improve the digital experience of Filipinos and enable their fuller, more connected lives.”

“Our networks power livelihoods, education, commerce and governance. By connecting people, we are enabling them to participate in the digital economy, powering progress at a national scale,” he said.

EXPERIENCE-DRIVEN MODERNIZATION

Medina highlighted PLDT’s efforts to strengthen its processes, teams, and systems so that the network can adapt more effectively to how customers use digital services. This includes improving insights into customer behavior, strengthening automation and analytics, and deploying modern tools that allow teams to detect and address network issues faster.

MTerra Solar powers up 250 MW

Boosts energy supply amid global volatility

As a result of this overall shift to focus on key quality indicators, PLDT and Smart posted improvements in VoLTE and 5G drop rates and 5G uplink throughput, as well as growth in data traffic in 2025.

NETWORK TAILORED FOR THE PHILIPPINES

Medina also emphasized that while the Philippines’ geography and climate create one of the most challenging markets for telco operators like PLDT, these same conditions have pushed the company to innovate continuously and strengthen the team and the processes underpinning its network.

“We share a common mission with our fellow operators and innovators

Meralco PowerGen Corporation (“MGEN”), through its affiliate Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (“MTerra Solar”), has successfully energized the first 250-megawatts (“MW”) of its solar capacity – now operating as a generator and marking the start of its contribution to the Philippines’ growing demand for reliable and clean energy.

This milestone comes at a pivotal time for the Philippines.

“Reaching this milestone reflects the strong execution, collaboration, and dedication of our teams and partners. More importantly, it underscores the role of projects like MTerra Solar in helping secure the country’s energy future at a time when reliability and affordability are under increasing

around the world: to build networks that make life better. We are proud to bring the Philippine perspective to this global conversation and to continue learning from our partners as we

pressure,” said MGEN Renewables and MTerra Solar President and CEO Dennis B Jordan.

THE NATION’S LARGEST OPERATIONAL BESS

MTerra Solar has also energized the first tranche of its battery energy storage system (“BESS”). Through energy generated from its solar output, the plant has been able to deliver up to 450 MWh of energy to the grid at night. This tranche now represents the largest operational BESS available in the Philippines.

With Phase 1 on track for completion this year and Phase 2 already under construction, MTerra Solar will continue to scale up its capacity, contributing meaningfully to the Philippines’ renewable energy targets of 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040. <<

From street stall to spotlight: Indomie Nyemek on The Block

Indomie has recently showcased its ability to turn local food trends into mainstream cultural moments.

By bringing together Warmindo (Indomie street stall) culture, music, and youth communities, the brand has successfully transformed Mi Nyemek from a viral food trend into a growing national sensation.

In 2025, the brand pioneered Indonesia’s first Nyemek noodle segment with the launch of Indomie

Hype Abis Mi Nyemek ala Banglahdes’e, developed in collaboration with Warmindo Agem Senyum Ketawathe street stall behind the viral Mie Bangladesh phenomenon.

LAUNCHING NEW FLAVORS, SPARKING TRENDS

Unlike traditional instant noodles, Mi Nyemek sits somewhere between fried and soupy noodles, known for

its slightly thick broth and bold savory flavor. Through this innovation, Indomie successfully transformed the street experience into a practical instant format. “It’s not fried noodles, not soup noodles — it’s the new Mi Nyemek with a little broth!” became the signature line of the campaign, inviting consumers to recreate the authentic experience at home by simply adding 12 tablespoons of water as directed.

The innovation quickly gained momentum. In December 2025, Indomie expanded the line with Indomie Hype Abis Mi Nyemek ala Jogja, another collaborative recipe inspired by Yogyakarta’s take on the beloved dish. Beyond launching new flavors, Indomie reinforced its role as a trendsetter that continuously evolves alongside Indonesia’s dynamic culinary culture.

THE PHENOMENON IN REAL LIFE

The hype continued in February this year, when Indomie brought the phenomenon offline through Indomie Nyemek on The Block in Gandaria City, Jakarta - a vibrant celebration of food, music, and community. The event connected Warmindo legends, local communities, musicians and performers and Gen Z audiences in one immersive experience.

Visitors enjoyed exclusive Mi Nyemek creations served directly by Bang Agem from Medan and Ibu Siti Artani from Yogyakarta, complete with special toppings created for the event.

Through Indomie Nyemek on The Block, Indomie highlighted how communitydriven culinary creativity can spark collaboration, cultural relevance, and shared experiences. <<

Maya recognized by Forbes, The Asian Banker

Maya has been recognized in global rankings by Forbes and The Asian Banker, reflecting the continued growth of its digital banking business operating at scale and achieving profitability.

Maya is featured in Forbes’ World’s Best Banks 2026 list, marking its fourth consecutive year on the global ranking. The list is based on a survey of more than 54,000 consumers across 34 countries, evaluating banks across trustworthiness, digital services, customer experience and overall satisfaction.

Maya has also been included in the World’s Top 100 Digital Banks Ranking 2026 by The Asian Banker, a global benchmarking of digital banks based on scale, financial performance and operational strength. It is the only Philippine digital bank included among the top 20 of the ranking.

The Asian Banker noted that Maya Bank achieved full-year profitability within two and a half years of launch, placing it among a group of digital banks that have moved beyond early-stage expansion into more structured, sustainable growth.

Shore It Up! Tubbataha

MPIF renews partnership to support UNESCO World Heritage site

“ TUBBATAHA IS ONE OF THE COUNTRY’S NATURAL TREASURES AND A CROWN JEWEL OF PHILIPPINE MARINE BIODIVERSITY. THE PRIVATE SECTOR CAN PLAY A MEANINGFUL ROLE BY SUPPORTING CONSERVATION EFFORTS ALONGSIDE GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITIES. THROUGH THIS PARTNERSHIP, WE HOPE TO HELP ENSURE THAT TUBBATAHA REMAINS A THRIVING MARINE SANCTUARY FOR GENERATIONS OF FILIPINOS. ”

MPIC Chairman, President, and CEO Manuel V Pangilinan

Metro Pacific Investments Foundation (“MPIF”), the corporate social responsibility arm of MPIC, has been dedicated to supporting the Tubbataha marine park environment since 2022.

Located in the heart of the Philippines’ Sulu Sea, Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park (“TRNP”) is a 97,030-hectare marine protected area within the Coral Triangle, the global center of marine biodiversity. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Wetland of

MPIF recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement to provide a total of 12 million in funding, equivalent to 3 million annually for four years to support the continued protection of the TRNP. This includes research initiatives, protection activities, and community-based efforts, in partnership with the Tubbataha Protected Area Management Board (“TPAMB”) and Friends of Tubbataha Inc. (“FOT”).

The agreement builds on the collaboration established in 2022 under the “Shore It Up! Tubbataha” program, through which MPIF provided 8 million in support from 2022 to 2025. The initiative focuses on environmental protection, scientific research, capacity building, and community engagement to help safeguard one of the country’s most important marine ecosystems.

International importance under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

SUSTAINED PARTNERSHIPS WITH SHORE IT UP!

Home to over 360 coral species and hundreds of fish species, the park provides a critical habitat for threatened marine life, including sharks, sea turtles, and seabirds. Its remote location, however, presents continuing challenges in enforcement, monitoring, and protection – making a sustained partnership essential.

MPIF President Melody M Del Rosario noted, “For nearly two decades, the MVP Group has championed environmental stewardship through the Shore It Up! Program. Now in its 18th year, the initiative reflects our belief that sustained partnerships and community engagement create lasting impact – not only in preserving critical habitats like TRNP but also strengthening the communities and institutions that safeguard them.”

BUILDING ON MEASURABLE GAINS

Over the past several years, the Shore It Up! Tubbataha partnership has delivered strong, measurable gains in strengthening the protection and management of TRNP. Support from MPIF

enhanced law enforcement presence offshore, improved ranger welfare and operational capabilities, and strengthened legal follow-through on violations, contributing to more effective protection of the park’s waters and resources.

The program also supported essential biophysical research and monitoring, including surveys of fish, benthos, and seabirds. These efforts generated high-quality data on reef condition, long-term trends, and emerging risks. <<

RESTORING THE RIVER, REIMAGINING THE CITY

On 29 November 2025, the banks of Jakarta’s Ciliwung River were transformed into a living stage for collective action.

Marking the celebration of Ciliwung Day 2025, Indofood’s employee volunteers and community members teamed up with the Ciliwung Clean-Up Movement (“GCB”) to rally around a shared mission: Revitalizing Ciliwung: Clean River, Sustainable City The initiative reflects a sustained and strategic commitment to restoring one of Jakarta’s most vital waterways.

Ciliwung Day 2025 featured a series of engaging activities, from upcycling workshops and riverthemed children’s activities to an environmental talk show with youth leaders and sustainability advocates. The day concluded with a river clean-up and riverbank tree-planting, demonstrating that sustainability is a shared responsibility.

CIRCULARITY IN ACTION

Between 2020 and 2025, Indofood’s support has enabled the processing of more than 26.9 tons of river waste into household fuel pellets, transforming pollution into practical fuel for

local communities. Approximately 1.3 tons of post-consumer packaging river waste have been transformed into durable paving blocks. Installed at GCB headquarters, the recycled blocks serve not only as functional pavers but also as a showcase of circularity in action.

Indofood’s partnership with GCB underlines how corporate responsibility can extend beyond business, helping shape resilient urban ecosystems as a shared legacy. <<
