Knight library:

Arguably the most common place to study on campus, The Knight library offers four quiet floors offering computers to students, a TLC skycenter, and study rooms. They also have printers and copy machines.

Lillis:

The ideal place to study for a business major. The building in the day is filled with natural light, and there is a deck on the third floor. The more stairs you climb, the better chance you find an open table!

Business law library:

The ideal study spot for law students or anyone who prefers to study in a quiet area. If you want complete silence, try out the law library on the second floor.

Private study rooms at GSH:

Need to find a quiet room for your study group? Head on over to Global Scholars Hall. They offer a wide variety of study rooms that are available to rent out. At the front of the building a few chairs are available next to phone charging stations so you can charge as you work curled up next to the fireplace.

Common Grounds Cafe:

If you need to find a location where you and your classmates can discuss what went on in class, Common Grounds cafe is the perfect place to grab a snack, chat and study with friends. Common Grounds has at least two outlets per table so you and a friend can study for the long haul. 16

Cafe Roma:

Cafe Roma is an easy walk from campus just down 13th street near Jimmy John’s and Starbucks. So if you find the Starbucks too crowded, hop on over and try the more subtle Cafe Roma. They offer outdoor seating (that’s more suitable for the spring and fall terms), tasty pastries and drinks to enjoy. For these colder months their indoor seating is well-lit for study sessions. They’re open every day except for Fridays, and it’s a great morning spot to study since they close around 9pm every day.

Allen Hall:

An ideal spot for journalism students to study and brainstorm with their fellow classmates. Plus, there are charger stations on every floor! Allen Hall has naturally good lighting, but can can get a little loud at times, so it’s better for group studying.

Science Library:

The Science Library is a high-tech, well-lit and organized space to rent a study room and bring your classmates for a larger group study session. If you need to practice a presentation, the large study rooms include TVs that you can hook up to your laptop to present.

Lawrence Library (architecture):

The Lawrence Library offers three floors with computers available for use on the first and second floor. There are also study desks and corners if you need a quiet place to work by yourself. It’s an older building, but perfect if you need to avoid crowds. There’s charging available for your phone and laptop and all the books you could dream of.

EMU:

A newly-renovated, three story building that offers a wide variety of studying spots. Whether it’s for studying by yourself or a large group, there will be a spot for you to sit down and focus. If you’re someone who prefers to study with background noise, the EMU Fishbowl offers charging stations for your phone and outlets near every table. If you need a quieter area to study, the basement near Falling Sky has tables tucked away with less noise.

Student Season Tickets A limited number of Student Season Tickets are available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. Packages go on sale mid-August and cost approximately $367 for all 7 home games, or $330 for Pac-12 games only. Students will receive an email when tickets go on sale. Pac-12 plans will be sold after season tickets sell out. Student Season Tickets are non-returnable and non-transferable. Benefits of season tickets: • • •

Food and Drink at the Heart of Campus The Erb Memorial Union at the heart of campus is the perfect place to grab coffee, a meal, and a snack. You can also enjoy Eugene hometown favorites including local ice cream, tea, and microbrews. The Fishbowl has long been a favorite study spot and gathering place for students, and now it is home to Starbucks, Chipotle, Joe’s Burgers, Panda Express, and Subway. When entering the EMU on the main floor visitors will find several Eugene favorites including Falling Sky Pizzeria and Public House, Townshend’s Tea, and Red Wagon Creamery. There is also a Fresh Corner Market serving healthful snacks, soups, and salads.

The EMU was designed for all seasons. The terrace outside the Fishbowl and the large front lawn are great places to sit outside and enjoy a cold drink or ice cream on a warm day. Inside there are study nooks, collaboration stations, and dining areas. The building’s design incorporates large windows and skylights, making it a great place to sit on a rainy day with a warm drink, a meal, or even a pint. Whatever the weather, the EMU is a the perfect location to take a break.

Chipotle offers burritos, tacos, burrito bowls (a burrito without the tortilla), and salads made from fresh, highquality raw ingredients, prepared using classic cooking methods and served in a distinctive atmosphere.

Falling Sky Pizzeria & Public House is the newest member of a locally owned restaurant group, dedicated to using only the best local and seasonal ingredients. They make, bake, brew, and cure everything in-house.

Joeâ€™s Burgers serves delicious griddle-style burgers, crisp fries, and hand-spun milkshakes, made with local and all-natural ingredients.

Townshendâ€™s Tea Company brings together a casual college campus-style coffeehouse atmosphere with top-grade loose-leaf tea. The EMU tea bar will feature bubble tea, Brew Dr. Kombucha on tap, and chai made from scratch.

Panda Express defines American Chinese cuisine with bold flavors and fresh ingredients.

Red Wagon Creamery makes handcrafted, smallbatch ice cream from real, honest ingredients in Oregon's smallest dairy plant. The full, deep flavor of the ice cream comes from a house-made base they pasteurize themselves. Using fresh, local, hormone-free milk and cream gives the ice cream a robust flavor.

Subway is the home of made-to-order sub sandwiches as well as salads and breakfast sandwiches, all made any way you want.

Starbucks are not just passionate purveyors of coffee, but of everything else that goes with a full and rewarding coffeehouse experience. They also offer a selection of premium teas, fine pastries and other delectable treats to please the taste buds.

Located a little less than an hour outside of Eugene, the Lake Creek Falls Rock Slides are basically a natural water park. A small waterfall empties into a swimming hole near the entrance, and multiple cliff jumping platforms with various ropes and platforms at about 25-35 feet are located 42

across the creek. Follow the creek a little farther down for the main attraction — a natural, 100-foot water slide. Made of gently sloping rock and emptying into a warm wading pool, the “water slide” can be ridden down on a variety of floaties.

Spencer Butte:

Spencer Butte is a Eugene classic. Located at the southern edge of Eugene, the butte is a city landmark — the top of it is visible from downtown. Photos of your friends at the top of the butte will be popping up all over your Instagram newsfeed come sunny weather. And for good reason — the view is beautiful, and you only have to hike about a mile to get to the top (less if you take the West Route). Invite your floormates and have a bonding experience over melty trail mix and beautiful views.

Willamette River trails:

You don’t have to go far to enjoy the beautiful forests of the Pacific Northwest.There are plenty of easy trails to explore by the Willamette River, located between the University of Oregon campus and Autzen Stadium. These trails are easy to walk or run, and are perfect for an afternoon jog if you are sick of the Rec Center. Grab a friend and explore a few, or enjoy some precious alone time away from campus walking by the water.

Terwilliger Hot Springs:

Missing your hot tub at home? The hot springs at Terwilliger Springs are a good replacement. Six soaking pools and a lagoon are located in the middle of the Willamette National Forest, about 60 minutes from Eugene. The hot springs are about a quarter mile hike from the parking lot and it costs $6 to get in. Once you get there, though, you’ll be greeted by six hot springs separated by rock walls. Let’s be real.Your hot tub can’t hold a candle to this.

Mt. Pisgah Arboretum:

Haven’t seen enough trees in the Pacific Northwest? Visit Mt. Pisgah, Eugene’s 209-acre living tree museum. A 15 minute drive or 40 minute bus ride from the university, Mt. Pisgah has multiple trails, ranging from gentle strolls for beginners to intermediate hiking for the more experienced. If you want to learn more about the forests and wildlife of Oregon — and there’s a lot to learn — the arboretum also offers nature workshops and walks year round.

Ridgeline Trail:

The Ridgeline trail system forms a circular path around the southern perimeter of the city.Through a series of large, loosely connected parklands, the trails are a favorite for the Eugene community because of the recreational possibilities it offers. With sprawling open spaces and a natural habitat, the Ridgeline system is accessible through a network of more than 12 miles of trail.

Tamolitch Blue Pool:

Oregon’s famous Blue Pool is home to a breezy yet gorgeous hike, a briskly refreshing swim and the bluest water you’ve ever seen. Seriously, the brilliant blue hue of Blue Pool’s water is incredible to see. It’s a landmark best enjoyed in the height of summer because the pool truly is freezing. If you can brave the chilly temperatures and the drive from Eugene to Sisters, Oregon, Blue Pool is more than worth your time.

The Table Rocks:

The Table Rocks are just one natural wonder of the region. These large rock formations are prominent landmarks that offer breathtaking views of the Oregon landscape. Formed by a volcanic eruption seven million years ago, the land has eroded to leave behind two natural plateaus with great hiking potential.The two rocks are known as Lower Table Rock and Upper Table Rock, and feature over 200 varieties of wildflowers and wildlife. At a three hour drive from Eugene, these rocks are a bit of a trek to get to -- but if you can make the drive there, it’ll be worth it.

BECOMING A SAVVY SHOPPER Is it possible to be financially savvy and also have a fair share of fun in college? With a bit of strategy, the answer is yes! WORDS | NICOLE SCOPELLITI PHOTO | LAUREN BRUCE When you think “college,” what comes to mind? Tuition, textbooks and ramen noodles? What about the pizza you’re going to order on Friday night as a well-deserved reward for surviving midterms, or that oil change your car has been needing for a bit too long? Or how about that betta fish with an all-too-short lifespan that you need because you’ve caught a case of the college blues? Random expenses tend to come up when you least expect them to. Although we can’t predict the unexpected, we can better prepare ourselves for those unpredictable times, and one of the ways to best prepare yourself is to budget your money accordingly. Creating a budget is easy - sticking to a budget is difficult. With this being said, make sure your monetary goals are attainable and fit your lifestyle. If buying new stationery makes you happy, set aside a few extra dollars to splurge each month. If you can’t live without your Netflix subscription, be sure to save money for your membership fees. Budgeting is constructive, but it doesn’t need to be restrictive. Prioritizing items on your budget helps keep you on track. For example, prioritizing nutritious meals, personal hygiene products and rent payment will ensure that you take care of your most basic needs every month. Save

a good portion of money for groceries each week and buy only what you absolutely need.This will help you avoid overbuying and wasting food. For affordable food buys, check out the Fred Meyer on West 11th or WinCo Foods, located at 4275 Barger Drive. Whole Foods Market, right next to Hub on Campus, offers a 10% discount to University of Oregon students every Tuesday. Utilize mobile apps such as Grocery Smarts and SnipSnap to search for grocery coupons. Putting aside some money for emergency and unexpected expenses, such as automobile work and doctors visits, is important. Allotting 10-20% of your monthly income for these purposes is ideal and saves you unnecessary anxiety. Allot a small portion of your savings for leisure activities with friends, such as catching a movie, grabbing a bite to eat or spending an evening out at the bars. Use mobile apps such as Mint and Level Money to keep your spending habits in check when you head out for a night on the town. Even though it might not always appear to be the case, being a college student has its benefits. Bring your student ID card with you and ask if the specific shop, restaurant or venue offers student discounts. It’s an effortless way to save, and you’d be surprised to see how many places do offer such discounts.

You might have heard about these, including free access to many UO events and free fare on Lane County’s transit system, but have you really explored the options the card gives you? You can go as far as 53 miles away from Eugene with the card. Bring a bike along for the ride, and you’ll be able to further expand your reach into the outdoor offerings of McKenzie Bridge.The route runs from Eugene Station (Bay G) at 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, where you can take the route all the way to McKenzie Bridge.

The Whiteaker The Whiteaker is the perfect place to visit if you miss Portland.With tons of trendy restaurants like Board, Papa’s Soul Food and more, this neighborhood helps you get away from the campus vibe of greater Eugene. Much of the area is residential, and a stroll through

the neighborhood reveals an array of interesting mid-century modern housing that seems a world away from the cookie-cutter apartment buildings so common around campus. If the UO vibe is getting stale, check out the Whiteaker by taking the EMX to Eugene Station and hopping on bus 40.

Skinner Butte For scenic views within city limits, Skinner Butte is a great spot. Located on north edge of downtown Eugene, the hill looks out over the Willamette River. Skinner Butte is one of our city’s most famous local landmarks, and also is home to Skinner Butte Park, a municipal park.There are plenty of hiking trails surrounding Skinner Butte, both official and trailblazed, so there’s always a new route to hike through. Ridgeline Trail The Ridgeline trail system forms a circular path around the southern perimeter of the city.Through a series of large, semi-connected parklands, the trails are a favorite for the Eugene community because of the recreational possibilities it offers.With sprawling open spaces and a natural habitat, the Ridgeline system is accessible through a network of more than 12 miles of trail.To get to the first of seven trailheads, take bus 73 from Eugene Station.

TOP 10 COLLEGE LIFE HACKS Put your phone in a glass or ceramic cup to amplify sound Some of us are heavy sleepers. Unfortunately, it doesn’t help when you’re running on little sleep and don’t want to get up anyway. One quick idea is to put your phone in a cup or mug, with the speaker facing the bottom of the cup.This will amplify the sound and (hopefully) wake you up. Want to take it a step further? Place your phone in the cup across the room, so you’ll be forced to get up to turn it off.You can also use this to play music a little louder than your phone’s speaker can typically handle.

When you fold your clothes the traditional way, not only are you digging to find your favorite shirt and messing up your piles, but you’re also losing precious space. By filing your shirts, you save space and time, and it looks pretty cool too. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to close that drawer? Yeah.Thought so.To fold a shirt for filing, first lay it face down.Then fold it in half. Next, fold both sleeves over so they’re on top of each other, then take the top half of the shirt, fold it over twice and you should have a little rectangle of a shirt that you can now successfully file away.

Have an important event or just an overly wrinkled shirt? Short on time? Hang your shirt on a hanger in your bathroom when you shower. The steam from your shower should remove the wrinkles from your clothes so by the time you’re done showering you’ll be that much closer to being ready to go.

Organize your notes with colors Oftentimes, note taking can be boring and unorganized.To stay more organized, use a different colored highlighter for each section, or create a key. Use one color to highlight definitions, another for key points, and another for important names and dates. Make sure you create a key to help you keep track.This can particularly help you understand concepts better if you’re a visual learner. Changing colors will keep you attentive and help you study better for tests.

Use a binder clip to organize desk cords Desk cords can be messy, confusing, tangly, and just overall annoying. Keep them organized and within reach by attaching a binder clip to the edge of your desk and labeling the clip with what the cord corresponds to. Just take the cord and slip it through the metal clasps on the clip to hold it in place.Then take a small piece of paper and tape and label each cord with “laptop,”“phone” etc.

Turn your phone/computer into warm light in order to fall asleep faster after studying late Blue artificial light can worsen your quality of sleep, but what about that paper you needed to write before your 8AM the next day? Shifting the hues on your phone and laptop can help you get to sleep faster. On your iPhone, you can go to settings/display, brightness, then turn on “Night Shift.” Although it’s also accessible in the control center, you can also get an app for your computer called Flux, which is free and will do the same thing.

Air fresheners and sprays can sometimes be too fruity or fragrant when you’re just trying to freshen up a room. So next time you just want a fresh, clean smell, tape a couple dryer sheets to your fan and put it on a low setting.

Use snack rewards for hard assignments Reading can be really hard to get through, especially when you know there’s something more fun you could be doing. Give yourself a little motivation! Pick your favorite candy or treat and reward yourself after each section of reading you do.You can go by paragraphs, pages, or chapters depending on how big your reward is.

This is a great tip to reuse your old soda tabs and also save space in your closet. After removing a tab from your favorite drink, slip one metal hook of a coat hanger through one of the holes.Then get another coat hanger and slip it through the other hole of the soda tab. Hang one of the hangers on as normal.

Use ornament sorting cardboard to sort sock drawers Ornament sorting cardboard is a great way to create sectionals in drawers. Since you can add or remove a section, It allows you to sort socks, underwear, shirts, pants or anything else you might need. A second option is to use a six pack container. Cut the cardboard in half so that the handle is cut off and should fit into your drawer perfectly.

If I have one piece of advice for future Ducks, it would be this:

LEAVE THE BUBBLE.

The “bubble” I’m referring to is the invisible dome-like structure that surrounds the University of Oregon campus and the few blocks around, sucking you in to a monotonous lifestyle of sameness: Caspian, class, Espresso Roma, Walton, class, Carson Dining, Carson lounge, sleep, repeat. Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with this, except that you’re just not really exploring the small city that’s hosting you: Eugene.You’re a student and that’s just about it. I get it: It’s convenient.You go to class, you want to walk to class, you want to do everything within a few blocks of that class. Live. Eat. Exercise.There’s a certain comfort that goes along with this safeness. But, (for fear of appearing dramatic) there’s a certain kind of sadness, too. When you go beyond that invisible barrier, you explore the Eugene that doesn’t leave once spring terms ends, that population that has families, or no families, and gardens, and dogs, and block parties, and art galleries, and artsy movie theaters, and sizzling pizza pies and tea houses. Basically, you miss out on so much. Downtown Eugene has all the best qualities of a larger city, with the welcoming atmosphere of a small town. With world-class pizzerias, artisan craft stores and more places to buy shoes than you’ll ever need, downtown Eugene is a must-visit part of the town you’ll call home for at least four years. What may look like a private home garden at first glance proves to go beyond what meets the eye.Pierce Street Gardens, although small in size, is bountiful in compassion and of course, unique plant life. Marcia Peeters, owner and operator of Pierce Street Gardens, was plunged into the world of agriculture and botany at a young age. Peeters noted that gardening came naturally to her, as she was raised on her family’s farm in Wisconsin. After relocating to the Pacific Northwest, Peeters began working in the public sector and found herself gradually 70

DUCK LIFE 2017

straying from her true passion: botany and mycology. She focused on enriching herself and expanding her environmental and botanical knowledge by attending Lane Community College and shortly after, University of Oregon. Peeters spoke enthusiastically about her time at Lane Community College and University of Oregon and the consequent knowledge she gained there: “I went to the University of Oregon and got my degree in what was then called leisure studies and services, with a focus on environmental education and outdoor recreation. I gained knowledge from those classes, but then I also worked with two of the

instructors at LCC: the mushroom class instructor for about 20 years and the poisonous and edible plant botany instructor for five or six years. Then I worked for the forest service and worked with native plants.” It’s clear that the knowledge she gained from her education was as valuable then as it is today, as she is one of the most knowledgeable gardeners, botanists and mycologists in Eugene. Peeters not only ensures that she is giving her customers quality plants, but she takes pride in knowing that her customers leave with the knowledge to care for the plant as well. continued on pg. 73

Between Peeters’s time in the public sector and her journey at Lane Community college, she was given her first plant. This first plant, which was given to her by a neighbor, would turn out to be the catalyst for her plant rescue and botanical business. After deciding to wholeheartedly invest rescue non-invasive, healthy plants, Peeters also spent time volunteering at Mt. Pisgah. It was during this time that she also gained a loyal vegetable clientele and began to share her vegetable plants with neighbors. Consequently, Peeters built a greenhouse, intending to grow and house vegetables inside. The greenhouse is still an integral part of Pierce Street Gardens today, however it now houses succulents and cacti. Pierce Street Gardens is home to what Peeters calls “an eclectic mix of plants” thanks to plant rescue. For Peeters, plant rescue has value and immense meaning in her life: “I do plant rescue which is taking plants that are healthy and happy, and for whatever reason somebody doesn’t want them in their yard anymore. I don’t take anything diseased and I don’t take anything invasive. Someone asked me once, ‘Did you rescue the plants or did the plants rescue you?’ And I said, ‘Well, both.’” Pierce Street Gardens is more than just a business for Peeters. It is a living, breathing extension of herself and is an integral space in her everyday life. She noted that although plant rescue and gardening is a constant learning process, it is exceptionally rewarding and exciting. Whatever your plant needs are, Pierce Street Gardens is likely to have the solution. Peeters sells an abundance of indoor plants such as cacti, succulents and tillandsia, which are popular among college students because of their low-maintenance nature. You will also find an abundance of outdoor plants including butterfly, bee and bird friendly plants, as well as plants that explicitly love shade or strictly thrive in sunny environments. Peeters also sells vegetable starter plants, primarily in the spring and early summer months. Peeters added that if you’re looking for unique or odd plants, Pierce Street Gardens is a great place to find them: “People in the community know that I like odd plants, so if they know about a plant or hear about one, they’ll usually come here first and ask if I’m interested in that specific plant.” Additionally, the plants at Pierce Street Gardens are affordable and of exceptional quality. Peeters assured that she values her customers and that she sells her plants at the most reasonable prices possible. She noted,“If someone sells me something inexpensively, then I’m going to sell them to my customers inexpensively. TO HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR EDUCATIONAL GOALS, WE’RE HERE TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND SERVICES THROUGHOUT YOUR EDUCATIONAL CAREER. 1. Read your e-mail. We often hear that students don’t have time to read all of their e-mail. However, if you ignore e-mail correspondence from the University, you can miss out on important dates and deadlines for adding and dropping courses, financial aid and scholarship deadlines, and departmental updates. Time spent petitioning for exceptions to deadlines is lost time—you could be studying, relaxing, or doing what you want to do! The Registrar’s Office and other offices will be sending you e-mails throughout the year to keep you informed of academic dates and changes, updates to academic policy and other information you need to know.

2. Work with your advisor. Students often enroll for courses that are not necessary or required for their degree. This costs you a lot of money and time, and may delay your graduation. Don’t be afraid to ask for advising help to ensure you are taking courses that will count,

3. Take, and complete, 15 credits per term. Whether you are in a four- or five-year program, you need to complete on average 15 credits per term in order to graduate on time. Each term beyond the four or five year mark will add hundreds of dollars (or more) to your college bill and student debt. Also, each term you stay in school is lost job earnings.

4. Use the Student Schedule Builder to help optimize your schedule each term. Schedule Builder is a web-based schedule planner that presents you with all possible schedule options that are currently available for registration. With this tool, you can easily generate a class schedule that fits your individual needs without having to resort to pen and paper.

5. Review your Degree Guide frequently. The Degree Guide is a web-based program that allows you to track your major, minor, and UO degree requirements. The Registrar’s Office will update your Degree Guide every term after grades have been processed, and you can update your own guide after adding and dropping courses. Play close attention to your guide and, if you have any questions, see your advisor.

6. Always ask for help if you have questions about your degree requirements or university policies. You are responsible for making sure your degree requirements are met, but advisors and the staff in the Registrar’s Office can help answer any questions and confirm that you are on track. Living Off Campus WORDS | SAM STYLES PHOTO | KATIE TENBOER In many cases, finding a place to live is the easy part of moving off campus - at least logistically speaking. For some of you, the apartment you are moving into may be furnished. In that case, you are one of the lucky few. For a much larger majority, the next step to living off campus after finding a place to live is furnishing your home and setting it up with basic services such as water and power. This can sound frustrating, but the positive is that you have just entered a stage in your life of utter creative freedom. For example, if you decide you really love Bob Marley, you can hang banners of him from every wall and no one can stop you (except your roommates who probably won't be thrilled).

Furniture: In my case, I imagined that a house needed tons of furniture and I had no idea where to start when it came to finding it.The truth is, if you are moving into a house you probably only need a few couches and a dining room table. If you are moving into an apartment, you will need even less. When you are looking for pieces of furniture like a couch, start by asking parents or family friends. If they have kids your age, it’s more than likely that they have some slightly worn pieces that they will be happy to part with.This is an easy way to furnish your whole house if you are from Portland, for example. In that case, many thrift stores offer a selection of gently-used, well-priced furniture that’s perfect for creating a cozy atmosphere. I’d be shocked if they didn't have everything you need.

Amenities: In living on your own, it is the details that add up. For example, yours truly and all of my roommates forgot to purchase a shower curtain. So for the first week of school, taking a shower had to done without privacy. It was very unsettling, to say the least. I highly recommend getting together with your prospective roommates and generating a list of things everyone will be responsible for. In the kitchen, you will need a full set of pots and pans, plates, bowls, silverware, baking sheets, foil, cooking utensils, a cooking knife, tons of paper towels, dish soap and dishwasher detergent (if you have a dishwasher) and definitely a coffee maker. In the bathroom you need toilet paper, hand soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.The point is, there are about a hundred small things that we need for our day to run properly and it shouldn't fall on one person to collect them all. When thinking of the areas that need amenities, they can pretty easily be broken into

3 categories: bathroom, kitchen and laundry room. If you are in a house of three people, Iâ€™d recommend having one person in charge of the small accessories for each room.

Services: Of all the new responsibilities that come with moving off campus, the most annoying to set up are the services which will later result in bills.The basic categories will be water and electric (i.e. EWEB) trash, wifi and the actual rent. Once again, don't leave any one roommate responsible for handling everything, for one that's a pain and two a lot of money has to come in and out of your bank account paying all these bills. For both EWEB and trash, you can set up an online account and register your address at www.eweb.org/billing/startstop and www. sanipac.com/residential/service-requests/start-service/. With wifi, all you have to do is call the company and set up an installation appointment and after that you can pay online. Many students use Comcast Xfinity internet (800-266-2278). With rent, some landlords may collect in person and some may do so online. If your landlord does collect in person it is always beneficial to build a positive relationship with them. In your time living somewhere, it is more than likely that something will break and when it does you want someone there to fix it quickly and your landlord controls all of that. One final tip: if you don't have the Venmo app, you should get it. Itâ€™s free, secure and syncs to your phone and Facebook contacts. Paying bills is much more simple when you can sent the payment to the person paying the bill at the drop of a hat.
