SICSA Swim League Code of Conduct –

Swimmers and Parents

As a swim community, SICSA swimmers and their families must all commit to ensuring the safety and security of each swimmer during Dual Swim Meets, Swim Finals and all parties and celebrations associated with the league. The following Code of Conduct is aimed at ensuring all swimmers and their families have a clear understanding of the league’s rules and regulations, expectations and consequences for failing to act appropriately.

Swimmers and their parents should expect that rules related to underage drinking, drug use and vaping will be taken very seriously and identifiable security personnel and city police will be onsite at Swim Finals. Their presence is meant to curb illegal activity and take action when necessary, which may include administering a breathalyzer test and/or removing an attendee from the event.

It is the policy of the SICSA swim league that this Code of Conduct must be signed by each swimmer over the age of 10 and each swimmer’s parent at the beginning of the summer swim season. Completed Codes of Conduct should be provided to each swim team head coach. Swimmers who join a club swim program after the start of the season should sign the Code of Conduct immediately upon joining a team.

Swimmers and parents who choose not to sign this Code of Conduct will not be allowed to participate in any SICSA swim meets or celebrations. Parents can expect that any effort to register for Swim Finals will be denied if a signed Code of Conduct has not been provided to their child’s swim team head coach or swim director.

Swimmers and parents who violate the Code of Conduct will be asked to immediately leave the meet or celebration at which the violation occurs and recommendations will be made to the club of the individual violating the code of conduct to take appropriate action, which may include:

 A suspension from the club’s swim program, or

 Removal from the club’s swim program, and

 A fine of no less than $1,000 to be used for security personnel at future swim events

In cases where a swimmer, parent or guest destroys the property of a host club, the swimmer, parent or the member associated with the person who has destroyed property will be responsible for all repair or replacement costs.

Members are asked to alert their guests to the SICSA Code of Conduct and will be held responsible if one of their guests violates any portion of it.

As a Swimmer and Parent of a Swimmer in the SICSA swim community, I understand and agree to the following:

 I will not be aggressive or hostile towards another individual and will resolve conflicts with others without resorting to profanity, name calling or violence.

 I will not destroy any property of a host club or take action that may lead to the destruction of property.

 I will not use drugs prior to or during a SICSA swim meet/celebration or have drugs in my possession during a SICSA swim meet/celebration. (This rule extends to all swimmers and parents even if State and/or Federal law allows for marijuana use.)

 If I am underage, I will not drink alcohol either before I attend a SICSA swim meet/celebration or during the event itself. If I am of legal age, and do plan to drink alcohol before or during a SICSA swim meet/celebration, I will do so responsibly.

 I will not use tobacco products or vape during a SICSA swim meet/celebration.

NOTE: This Code of Conduct may be signed/acknowledged electronically through the club’s registration process or separate online process.
