The Board's Corner We are off to a great start to the 2022 season. The racquet house renovation is under way and progressing as planned. The golf operations are in full swing, and the course looks terrific with several of our leagues already started. The pickleball surfaces have been installed and tennis courts are ready for play! The pool and beachfront are open, and the new tri-toon pontoon boat is ready for action. We are near full employment, and we are super excited about our service staff this year. We are also mindful that inflation has impacted food pricing in a significant way, so we have asked the Chef and his team to look at diverse offerings to ease menu pricing and costs while still offering value to the membership. The Board, Master Planning Committee and OLCC’s management team are fully engaged in the development of the golf operations project, which will include a new golf operation building, a completely reimagined parking lot / club entrance, enhancements to the course and completion of the golf course master plan. We are working with building architects, interior designers, along with Keith Foster, our golf course architect, to develop a cohesive plan that we can present to membership later this year.
The next big focus for the Board of Governors is developing and publishing the long-range strategic plan. The plan will be the guard rails and road map for future Boards, Club Management, and our membership. The plan will emphasize and prioritize, Membership, Governance, Management, Finance, Programs and Services, Facilities and Research and Communications. Shortly, we will create and send out a strategic plan survey to the membership to get your feedback and compile a list of our top priorities. We will welcome your input and support. In parallel, we will create a Long-range Strategic Planning Committee, which will include Board members, Committee members, members “at large” and key management. We will keep you updated as we make more progress on the long-range strategic plan. Have a great summer!

Happy Summer! We hope you’re all enjoying the start of the season so far. The golf course is in terrific shape and our event calendar is well underway. Our summer junior golf program is set to begin on June 14, and the Players Invitational is set for June 16-18. The Women’s Ringer Tournament is coming up June 22-23, and
the Pink Shirt Invitational and Women’s Member-Member round out the month. You'll likely have spotted a few of the new faces on our golf staff. Matthew Morin is joining us in mid-June as a Senior Assistant Professional. He is a Minnesota native with experience at a handful of great clubs including Wayzata and Cherry Hills, and was most recently the First Assistant Professional at Paradise Valley Country Club. He will be assisting me, Julian, Caroline, and Anthony with all
aspects of the golf program, and like them is also an excellent instructor. Please say hello and give him a warm Orchard Lake welcome! You’ve likely already met James Santangelo and Cordero Young, our two Golf Services Assistants, who will be the right and left hand of John Gilbert this year as we implement some improvements to the golf service experience. Both are natives of the area and are about to begin their journey in the PGA’s apprentice program. Justin Song is also a newcomer and will be assisting us as a Golf Shop Retail Attendant. He is a premed student at Arcadia University in Philadelphia, and he’ll be working closely with Maureen Dehm and the team of golf professionals to offer a consistently engaging, friendly, and anticipatory experience. As always, please let us know if there’s anything we can do to make your golf experience more enjoyable. We look forward to teeing it up with you and seeing you at the club again soon!

Letter from Lincoln
Welcome back to another exciting summer at the Orchard Lake tennis courts! The staff and I are excited to be back for another summer of fun and growth. Several returning staff members, along with a few new ones, are ready Lincoln Wirgau, USPTA to guide our Junior TenDirector of Racquets nis Team back to the top of the Inter-club league. Below is the schedule for adult tennis programming and pickle ball classes. Pickle Ball is new to OLCC this summer and we are trying to work in as many classes as we can. If none of the class times work for you, please look to set up a private group. The tennis staff and I are very much looking forward to getting the season rolling. We hope that everyone can make the most of this summer and find some fun on the tennis courts. If you
have any questions regarding summer tennis at OLCC, please email Lwirgau@orchardlakecc.com. To sign up for weekly Adult Tennis/Pickle Ball classes you can click the link below. We open the class sign up each week on Sunday at noon. The link is also on the OLCC website. https://signup.com/Group/596985858936382054/ Also, if you have not been down to the racquet house since April a few things have changed. They are in the process of updating the racquet house which means we are under CONSTRUCTION this summer. Please be aware of the orange fencing. We have set up additional seating for Pickle Ball by the Pickle Ball courts along with extra seating behind tennis courts 1 and 2 along with tables up on the patio by tennis courts 3 and 4. Even though we are under construction we are looking forward to another great year.

OLCC Swimming A Note from Doug Irey
What a great Memorial Day weekend! It was truly great to see everyone again at the Club and enjoying the pool and waterfront! I am not sure if you noticed, but we have expanded (again!) the swim area on the waterfront since the Doug Irey dock is actually longer this Pool Manager year than it was last year! It is great to enhance the experience of the membership and we believe that expanding the swim area on the waterfront will be a great addition to what makes Orchard Lake truly a unique experience. You may have also noticed that this year there are some staffing changes at the pool. Amanda Ling, who had been working alongside me for many years, including previous to joining the team at Orchard Lake, is no longer with us. She has stayed at Ohio State University this summer to focus on practice as she is a diver on the Big Ten Championship Swimming and Diving Program at Ohio State University. We will miss seeing her at the pool, and I am grateful for the leadership that she has provided over the past three years. Additionally, Bob Crosby is now the Pool Director at Edgewood Country Club. I was thankful to be able to work with him again as he brought a great level of knowledge and leadership to the pool and waterfront staff. Taking Amanda and Bob’s place as my assistant is Gabriella (Gaby) Koechley who should be a familiar face as she has spent the past three years on the lifeguard staff. Gaby has an outgoing personality and has always worked tirelessly to ensure that we have been able to give the membership an outstanding experience at the pool and the waterfront. I am confident that she will serve the club well in this new position for her. If you are new to the Club, welcome! If we have not met yet, please come on down so that we can meet and you can enjoy a day by the lake. Whether you are a new or a returning member I would like to highlight some of our major rules and procedures that help to ensure the safety of all members. I would like to remind everyone of some of the rules at the pool and lakehouse:

• Please register your party with the guard at the table by the playscape when you arrive. • There is no food or glass permitted either on the pool deck or in the locker room. • A guest fee is charged for members bringing guests to the pool and the waterfront unless they are using only the picnic grove, attending a club-catered event (unless they are using the pool or the waterfront outside the party/event), or attending evening lakeside dining. • Any swimmer 10 and under must wear an approved lifejacket. Hours of Operations • Our normal hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 12:00pm-8:00pm; Friday and Saturday 12:00pm-9:00pm. • Blue Carp home swim meets the pool will close early. Blue Carp home swim meets • Wednesday, June 29th • Sunday, July 10th • Wednesday, July 20th The pool opening may be delayed on Friday, July 15th for the OLCC Mini-Meet that we will host in the morning. • Please also note that the Pool will be closed starting Monday, July 25th and will reopen August 2nd due to hosting the SICSA finals at the club.
