Dear Lancer Community,
Welcome to the 2025/26 arts season at Orange Lutheran High School! For more than 50 years, the Lord has done marvelous things at Lutheran High School of Orange County. Since 2003, the Nechita Center has been a place where the talents, skills, and abilities of our students have been joyfully displayed. Through these gifts, and under the guidance of talented and creative teachers, directors, technical directors, and leaders, the Lord continues to use the Arts program to share the eternal message of salvation found in Jesus Christ with students, parents, donors, and the greater Lancer community. At Orange Lutheran, we believe it is entirely possible to remain faithful to Jesus Christ, our Savior, while pursuing and achieving excellence in the arts.
Whether you are enjoying a musical, concert, play, art exhibit, recital, or lecture, it is wonderful to attend an event in the Nechita Center. It’s not the space that makes the event special, but rather the dedication, hard work, and diligence of faithful students and leaders who pour themselves into each production. This year, hundreds of students will participate in the events that take place in “the Nechita”. They will sing, dance, play instruments, act, draw, create, and use their amazing abilities, gifts, and skills.
The Fall Concert opened our season this year, followed closely by Catch Me If You Can. Before we knew it, Christmas arrived, and we celebrated the birth of our Savior with instruments, song, and dance. A fan favorite production of Charlotte’s Web led us into a vocal concert of Let’s Go to the Movies. The Dance Student Showcase stepped up just before we venture Into the Woods. Truthfully, it’s difficult to choose my favorite between the Instrumental Student Showcase and The Best of Broadway. A highlight of the year is our amazing Annual Art Show in May, where our visual arts are on full display. Finally, be sure to save the date for Night of Worship! We close the year being reminded of the work of our Master Artist who has created and designed each of us in His image, to the Glory of God.

Welcome to The Best of Broadway!
Thank you so much for being here to support these talented students. Tonight’s Best of Broadway is more than a performance - it is a celebration of growth, courage, creativity, and community. Each student you see on this stage has committed to the discipline of dance and/or voice while discovering their own voice within it. Through rehearsal, reflection, and risk-taking, these students have learned that performing is not just about steps or the notes, but about storytelling, connection, and expression.
Seniors, we will miss each of you - especially those who have been part of these programs for four years. As you step into the future, we pray for God’s guidance and blessing over your endeavors and hope you continue to advocate for the arts and creative expression throughout your lives.
As you watch tonight’s performance, we invite you to look beyond precision and notice the individuality of each performer. Notice the confidence that has been built, the artistry that has emerged, and the joy that comes from performing. For many students, this stage represents a moment of bravery - an opportunity to be seen and celebrated.
We are incredibly proud of the commitment and passion each one of these students brings to OLu each day. Thank you to our families, friends, and school community for supporting arts education and for encouraging these students to pursue creative expression.
As always, our heartfelt gratitude goes to the entire Performing Arts team that we have the joy of working alongside throughout the year. We would especially like to thank Ms. Carole, whose generous spirit and care bless our students as she helps them look fabulous in their costumes and whose friendship we count on for every production!

Favorite Choir Memory: Trying to make everyone else laugh while on stage before the curtain opens. It’s always fun to see what dance moves people make to get other people to laugh!
Plans for Next Year: I am going to Texas Christian University to study Biology on the Pre-Med track.

Favorite Choir Memory: When we went to Germany as well as San Francisco.
Plans for Next Year: I plan to go to Orange Coast College for two years!
Intro to Dance
Favorite Dance Memory: This is my first year in the dance program at OLu. My favorite memory from I2D has been doing the Christmas Show. I have loved being a part of the dance program this year!
Plans for Next Year: After graduation, I plan on attending Westmont College. I would like to thank all my classmates for making I2D so much fun!
Favorite Dance Memory: Performing my last solo in front of my family and friends that came to the dance show to support me and hearing them cheering for me! I felt so special and loved when I saw the people I love the most watching me do the sport I love.
Plans for Next Year: I plan to go Boise State University and major in Marketing Communications with a minor in Sports Media. At Boise State, I will continue to grow my faith with the Lord and hope to continue training in dance.

Favorite Choir Memory: Performing at the Bay Area Rescue Mission in San Francisco. It broadened my perspective to the lives of others and how, even though many of the people there had less, they still praised God, showing that He is all they need and that they are grateful for each new day.
Favorite Dance Memory: Performing "Something in the Air" at the 2023 Christmas at the Nechita.
Plans for Next Year: I will be attending Chapman University to pursue a BA in Theatre with a double major in Business. I can’t wait for more opportunities to sing and perform!

Favorite Choir Song: "I’ll Ay Call In" by Yon Town Favorite Choir Memory: The Hawaii trip my freshman year; it’s where I made all my best choir memories and grew closer with so many people. Plans for Next Year: I am committed to cosmetology at Paul Mitchell! I will be focusing on hair and hope to see myself in a salon in the future!
Favorite Dance Memory: Dancing in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" as a gypsy and spirit because it was a moving story with an amazing cast of vocalists!
Plans for Next Year: I will be majoring in Biology with a Pre-Nursing minor at Concordia University Irvine, while continuing to train in dance (and hopefully a little theatre!).

Favorite Choir Memory: During the combined Concordia concert, everyone was unsure whether to go on stage for one of the numbers, so Kyle confidently walked out by himself. When he realized no one had followed him, he immediately ran backstage.

Favorite Choir Song: "My God is a Rock" or "All is Well"
Favorite Choir Memory: My favorite choir memories have one thing in common: The people. I’ve gotten to hang out with people who make me laugh uncontrollably, people who belt songs with me, and those who I can have genuine conversations with. I’ve made memories backstage, walking out in our Aladdin costumes for Newsies, singing Valentine’s Day songs, and going on a ministry tour to San Francisco. I’ve made memories everywhere from the stage, to the dressing rooms, to tunnels, and on offsite chapels. I cannot thank God enough for the way He has blessed me through this choir and the people in it.
Plans for Next Year: I am planning to attend Lipscomb University in Nashville where I will be studying Pastoral Leadership.

Favorite Choir Memory: Our "Redeemed" Gala performance junior year; I felt a true connection with the Lord in that moment as the voices around me were blending beautifully. Especially the key change! Plans for Next Year: Studying Pre-Law at whatever university God has planned for me!
Favorite Dance Memory: This is my first year as an OLu dancer. I have enjoyed my time greatly learning so many different genres and really appreciating all of my amazing dance teachers and fellow Intro to Dance classmates! Plans for Next Year: I am planning on going to New York to pursue Esthetician School.

Favorite Choir Memory: Going on the New York trip and hanging out with all of my friends; singing "Sign Me Up" in Carnegie Hall; learning songs from Mr. Vu.
Favorite Dance Memory: We danced to the song "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and we tried to carry Kyle off the stage, but we ended up tripping and falling over all each other while still on stage!
Plans for Next Year: Going to Santiago Community College for Political Science.

DIRECTOR OF VOCAL MUSIC
Megan Carvale is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University’s School of Music, where she studied church music and vocal performance. Megan began teaching voice lessons during her senior year at APU and has been teaching ever since. This year's Broadway show marks the final concert of Mrs. Carvale's 17th year teaching at Orange Lutheran. In addition to her ministry at OLu, Megan serves on the worship team at Friends Church in Yorba Linda and teaches the next generation of music educators at Vanguard University.
DIRECTOR OF DANCE
Jennifer received a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Dance/Theatre from Chapman University and a MA in Social Science with an Emphasis in Human Resources and Leadership Studies from Azusa Pacific University. She began her dance training at Christine's Dance Studio/Triple C Dance Studio in Orange. She later trained at other various schools in Orange County under professionals such as Kristen Potts, Barbara Arms, Larry Rosenburg, Diane Defiender, Tim Hill, Dave Massey, Michael McBain, and Sylvia Turner. In August 2019 she became the Director of Dance for OLu, where she is responsible for teaching and choreographing shows, musicals and special events. She has taught and choreographed dancers in the area of Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical for 40+ years. Mrs. Blomquist served as the President of the Mountain West Ballet Company in Sandy, Utah. She is also an accredited member of Dance Masters of America.
DAVID BARTLE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
David Bartle is a lifelong musician, multi-instrumentalist, and audio professional with a career spanning live performance, touring, and technical education. He began in music and percussion at a young age, later founding and operating a recording studio and production company. David has designed competitive percussion ensemble shows, taught music and technical arts across diverse educational programs, and worked as an audio engineer for national tours and SiriusXM. He’s taught at institutions including Cal Baptist University and Orange County School of the Arts. Now serving as Technical Director at Orange Lutheran High School, he is passionate about mentoring students, preparing them for real-world careers, and developing their ability to be creative problem-solvers in technical and artistic environments.
Carole Zelinger has been the Costume and Wardrobe Supervisor at Orange Lutheran for the past 11 years. Best of Broadway will be the 37th dramatic arts production she has designed at OLu, along with 37+ Premiere, Gala, dance and choral productions. Carole feels blessed to work with an incredible production staff and talented students in a Christian environment that nurtures arts education, teamwork, creativity and individuality. Orange Lutheran is truly her “Happy Place.” Thank you for attending and supporting high school theatre. Hope you enjoy the show!

Join us for a fun week of music and learning how to SING to the best of your God-given abilities.
Students will engage in vocal lessons throughout the week and build confidence in solo and group singing.
Orange Lutheran's Director of Vocal Music, Megan Carvale, will teach students, along with some special guest clinicians and performers.
The week will culminate with a concert on the Nechita stage featuring all of the students from both sessions. You won't want to miss this exciting opportunity to SING!

At Orange Lutheran, we teach dance through a Christian lens, treating each child as a child of God, helping them to discover their God-given talent, encouraging them to develop a strong sense of self and a discipline for the art of dance.
Campers will learn ballet, jazz, hip hop, and musical theater, working on technique and increasing increasing flexibility from Miss Jenn, OLu's Director of Dance, and members of Honors Performance Dance. Each day is themed with fun games and activities.
Dancers will be divided into groups according to grade and dance experience and will have a mini showcase at the end of the week.
