Welcome to the 2025/26 arts season at Orange Lutheran High School! For more than 50 years, the Lord has done marvelous things at Lutheran High School of Orange County. Since 2003, the Nechita Center has been a place where the talents, skills, and abilities of our students have been joyfully displayed. Through these gifts, and under the guidance of talented and creative teachers, directors, technical directors, and leaders, the Lord continues to use the Arts program to share the eternal message of salvation found in Jesus Christ with students, parents, donors, and the greater Lancer community. At Orange Lutheran, we believe it is entirely possible to remain faithful to Jesus Christ, our Savior, while pursuing and achieving excellence in the arts.
Whether you are enjoying a musical, concert, play, art exhibit, recital, or lecture, it is wonderful to attend an event in the Nechita Center. It’s not the space that makes the event special, but rather the dedication, hard work, and diligence of faithful students and leaders who pour themselves into each production. This year, hundreds of students will participate in the events that take place in “the Nechita”. They will sing, dance, play instruments, act, draw, create, and use their amazing abilities, gifts, and skills.
The Fall Concert will open our season this year, followed closely by Catch Me If You Can. Before we know it, Christmas arrives, where we celebrate the birth of our Savior with instruments, song, and dance. A fan favorite production of Charlotte’s Web will lead us into a vocal concert of Let’s Go to the Movies. You will not want to miss the Dance Student Showcase stepping up just before Into The Woods. Truthfully, it’s difficult to choose my favorite between the Instrumental Student Showcase and The Best of Broadway. A highlight of the year is our amazing Annual Art Show in May, where our visual arts are in full display. Finally, be sure to save the date for Night of Worship! We close the year being reminded of the work of our Master Artist who has created and designed each of us in His image, to the Glory of God.
Thank you for being here, and enjoy the show!
Dr. Mary K. Scott CEO & Executive Director

Welcome, and thank you for being here.
Tonight’s OLu Dance Showcase is more than a performance, it is a celebration of growth, courage, creativity, and community. Each dancer you see on this stage has committed to the discipline of movement while discovering their own voice within it. Through rehearsal, reflection, and risk-taking, these students have learned that dance is not just about steps, but about storytelling, connection, and expression.
This Showcase represents months of dedication. Behind every piece are countless rehearsals, moments of frustration, breakthroughs, laughter, and teamwork. Our dancers have explored technique, musicality, and performance quality while learning to show up prepared, to trust the process, and to dance with intention. Seniors, I will miss each of you - especially those who have been part of this program for four years. As you step into the future, I pray for God’s guidance and blessing over your endeavors and hope you continue to advocate for the arts and creative expression throughout your lives.
As you watch tonight’s performances, I invite you to look beyond precision and notice the individuality of each dancer. Notice the confidence that has been built, the artistry that has emerged, and the joy that comes from performing. For many students, this stage represents a moment of bravery - an opportunity to be seen and celebrated. To my student choreographers - wow. Each piece you have created carries a part of your soul and honors God’s creative influence and the gifts He has entrusted to you. “We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works” (Ephesians 2:10).
I am incredibly proud of the commitment and passion each one of these dancers bring to OLu Dance each day. Thank you to our families, friends, and school community for supporting arts education and for encouraging these students to pursue creative expression. A special thank you to Kari Wilhelm for being a faithful and caring teacher to Musical Theater Dance, cultivating a learning environment where students are encouraged to honor God through creativity, discipline, and growth. As always, my heartfelt gratitude goes to Miss Carole, whose generous spirit and care bless our students as she helps them look fabulous in their costumes, and whose friendship I count on for every production!
Please enjoy the show and celebrate the dancers who have worked so hard to make this evening possible.
With sincere gratitude,
Jennifer Blomquist Director of Dance

HONORS PERFORMANCE DANCE (HPD), PERFORMANCE DANCE (PD), INTRO TO DANCE (I2D), MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE A (MTD A), AND MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE B (MTD B)

This is Kaylor’s first year in the dance program at OLu. Her favorite memory from I2D has been doing the Christmas Show. She has loved being part of dance this year with her friend Annika and making so many fun memories together. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year college and study psychology. She would like to thank Ms. Jenn for making I2D so much fun and always making her laugh.

Layla is a senior who has been part of the OLu Dance program for 4 years and the Honors Performance Dance (HPD) program for 3 years. Her favorite memory from HPD comes from performing at every show, as she has always had a passion for performing in front of others. Through dance, Layla has learned discipline, resilience, confidence, and how to glorify God through her passion. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 46:5: “God is within her, she will not fall.” Layla is incredibly grateful for the friendships and unforgettable memories she has gained through OLu Dance and will carry them with her after she graduates high school.

Simon Gorgy has been in MTD for the past 2 years and has enjoyed the many memories he has made with his friends in the class. He has been a part of both MTD classes this last year. His favorite memory was his choreography project at the end of last school year, where he performed "Arabian Nights." He would like to thank his friends for the great memories they have made together and his family for their constant support throughout his involvement in the performing arts. Colossians 3:23-24

Dance A
Emily has been involved in the OLu dance program since her freshman year, starting with Intro to Dance and then Musical Theatre Dance for 3 1/2 years. She is feeling sentimental to be doing her last showcase with her lovely teacher, Ms. Jenn. She has helped her improve her technique and start tap dancing for the first time. One of her favorite performances was "Something in the Air" and the tap number "Anything Goes." She would like to thank Ms. Jenn, Ms. Carole, and Ms. Kristen, her friends and family, for their endless time and support. This is her fourth dance showcase, and she cannot wait for everyone to see the numbers she has been working on. Emily plans to attend college and major in Theater.

Dance A
Aylania is so grateful to be a part of this dance program and is sad that it is her last dance showcase! She would like to thank Ms. Jenn for helping her grow in dance, for her fun choreography, and for her support throughout the years. She would also like to thank her friends for the amazing memories. Her favorite memory in dance was the Christmas tap dance her sophomore year, but she has enjoyed all of them. She hopes you enjoy the show! Matthew 5:16.

Ella is overwhelmed with gratitude as she enters her final Orange Lutheran Dance Student Showcase!! Her most treasured memory is performing in The Hunchback of Notre Dame musical, her first time dancing with a live vocal cast to create a cohesive story. She'd like to thank Ms. Jenn for introducing her to
the way God filters his message through creative gifts. She is ecstatic over her Performance Dance choreography group, Chemtrails Over the Country Club, embodying her vision on stage!! Ella plans to study pre-medical biology while continuing to forge her craft in dance and creative writing. Above all, Ella praises Christ for His life and death, so that she may serve Him in life and death! John 16:33

Musical Theatre
Dance A
Over the past three years in Musical Theatre Dance, Corey Navarro has built lasting memories and a real love for dance. Performing in numerous routines helped him grow as a dancer and performer, but his favorite moment on stage was dancing to "Hot Chocolate" in last year’s Christmas concert. He is especially grateful to Ms. Jenn for the time and dedication she poured into teaching him and shaping his skills. Corey thanks his family and gives glory to God for blessing him with the opportunity to be part of the OLu Dance program.

Musical Theatre
Dance A
Faith Novak is a senior here at Orange Lutheran, and she’s been a part of MTD since her freshman year. Her favorite memory in MTD has to be last year’s senior choreography and the most recent Christmas concert, where they danced to "Hot Chocolate" from The Polar Express. She is thrilled at the chance to choreograph a piece that celebrates the fun, uniqueness, and spark that is found in each and every student (and friend) in this class. She is looking forward to studying a degree in Musical Theatre in the near future!!! She wants to thank her friends, family, and God, who have all played a significant role in her journey here at OLu and in the performing arts. She hopes you enjoy the show!!!

Emmy has spent the last four years in Honors Performance Dance and is currently the captain. She loves performing on stage alongside her closest friends. After graduating, she will attend the University of Alabama, majoring in Marketing and Advertising. As she closes this chapter of her life, she wants to thank all the people who helped her reach this moment. Family, who never missed a performance; friends who were encouraging every step of the way; and, most importantly, God, who has led her to where she is and will guide her where she’s meant to go.

Brandon Paulo has been a member of Musical Theatre Dance (MTD) for the majority of his high school career, starting in his sophomore year. It has been a wild time throughout Brandon’s dancing career, but some major highlights include "Hot Chocolate" from The Polar Express in the most recent Christmas at the Nechita show and his first dance performance with MTD in "Something in the Air" during the 2023 Christmas at the Nechita event. Brandon would like to thank all his family and friends for all the support, and Ms. Jenn for all the teaching and memories over the years.

This is Annika’s first year as an OLu dancer. She has enjoyed her time greatly learning so many different genres and really appreciating all of her amazing dance teachers and fellow intro to dance classmates. Annika is planning on going to New York to pursue esthetician school.

Zeke Southall has been in Musical Theatre Dance for two years and has had so much fun being a part of the dance program. Zeke’s favorite performance was "Hot Chocolate" at the last Christmas concert. Zeke loves this dance program and appreciates Ms. Jenn very much, as she taught him everything he knows about dance. Zeke would like to thank his family and God for such a wonderful opportunity at OLu.

Sophia joined the OLu Dance program in her junior year with no prior experience and quickly fell in love with Musical Theatre Dance (MTD). While jazz was always fun, tap became her favorite for its rhythm. Starting as a beginner, she was pushed to grow in confidence and performance. She is forever grateful to Ms. Jenn for laying the foundation for her throughout her junior year and to Ms. Kari for making her senior year in MTD both productive and enjoyable, while challenging her to improve. The encouragement and support inspired her to reach higher than she thought she could. As she takes part in her final OLu Dance Student Showcase and prepares to graduate, Sophia feels both proud and nostalgic. Dance became more than a class; it became a place of growth, friendship, and a home that she will truly miss.

LAYLA FARZAD
Class of 2026
What is your favorite memory on the Nechita stage?
My favorite memory on the Nechita stage is performing in all the shows. I love performing in front of a crowd, and being on that stage while doing what I love reminds me of why I chose to keep dancing my whole life.
In the future I plan to…
In the future, I plan to continue my love for dance, either on a college team or teaching younger kids, and hope to inspire others while glorifying God.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired by my faith, my family, and my best friends. I am so blessed to have people in my life who motivate me to work harder and strengthen my faith.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
People might be surprised to know that I auditioned for America's Got Talent when I was 10 years old because it was my favorite show. Although I didn’t make the cut for TV, I still had so much fun experiencing a real audition and being a confident little girl.
When you’re not singing, acting, & dancing, where can people find you? When I'm not dancing, you can find me at the mall shopping or hanging out with the people who make me smile!

What teacher made the biggest impact on you and why?
Ms. Brenner has had the biggest impact on me because, ever since my freshman year song camp that she chaperoned, she has supported me not only in dance but also academically. I love being in her class and talking to her about anything.
My favorite bible verse is Psalm 46:5, “God is within her, she will not fall,” because it reminds me that no matter the situation, I'm never alone. God is with me and strengthens me - and that gives me peace.

Jennifer received a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Dance/Theatre from Chapman University and a MA in Social Science with an Emphasis in Human Resources and Leadership Studies from Azusa Pacific University. She began her dance training at Christine's Dance Studio/Triple C Dance Studio in Orange. She later trained at other various schools in Orange County under professionals such as Kristen Potts, Barbara Arms, Larry Rosenburg, Diane Defiender, Tim Hill, Dave Massey, Michael McBain, and Sylvia Turner. In August 2019 she became the Director of Dance for OLu, where she is responsible for teaching and choreographing shows, musicals and special events. She has taught and choreographed dancers in the area of Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical for 40+ years. Ms. Blomquist served as the President of the Mountain West Ballet Company in Sandy, Utah. She is also an accredited member of Dance Masters of America.

Kari Wilhelm spent four years with The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts, earning her Associate’s Degree in General Performance with an emphasis in Dance. During that time, she toured internationally as both a performer and instructor, teaching students around the world through The Young Americans outreach programs. She later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Concordia University Irvine. Kari continues to perform professionally as a dancer with Disneyland Entertainment and in musical theatre productions at venues including The GEM Theatre and La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. In addition to performing, Kari is grateful for the opportunity to teach and hopes to inspire the same love for the arts that shaped her own life.

Carole Zelinger has been the Costume and Wardrobe Supervisor at Orange Lutheran for the past 11 years. She has designed 35+ Premiere, Gala, musical, dance and choral productions. Carole feels blessed to work with an incredible production staff and talented students in a Christian environment that nurtures arts education, teamwork, creativity, and individuality. Orange Lutheran is truly her “Happy Place.” Thank you for attending and supporting high school theatre. Hope you enjoy the show!
