EXPERIENCING THE ARTS

ORANGE LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL • 2025-2026

Dear Lancer Community,

Welcome to the 2025/26 arts season at Orange Lutheran High School! For more than 50 years, the Lord has done marvelous things at Lutheran High School of Orange County. Since 2003, the Nechita Center has been a place where the talents, skills, and abilities of our students have been joyfully displayed. Through these gifts, and under the guidance of talented and creative teachers, directors, technical directors, and leaders, the Lord continues to use the Arts program to share the eternal message of salvation found in Jesus Christ with students, parents, donors, and the greater Lancer community. At Orange Lutheran, we believe it is entirely possible to remain faithful to Jesus Christ, our Savior, while pursuing and achieving excellence in the arts.

Whether you are enjoying a musical, concert, play, art exhibit, recital, or lecture, it is wonderful to attend an event in the Nechita Center. It’s not the space that makes the event special, but rather the dedication, hard work, and diligence of faithful students and leaders who pour themselves into each production. This year, hundreds of students will participate in the events that take place in “the Nechita”. They will sing, dance, play instruments, act, draw, create, and use their amazing abilities, gifts, and skills.

The Fall Concert will open our season this year, followed closely by Catch Me If You Can. Before we know it, Christmas arrives, where we celebrate the birth of our Savior with instruments, song, and dance. A fan favorite production of Charlotte’s Web will lead us into a vocal concert of Let’s Go to the Movies. You will not want to miss the Dance Student Showcase stepping up just before Into The Woods. Truthfully, it’s difficult to choose my favorite between the Instrumental Student Showcase and The Best of Broadway. A highlight of the year is our amazing Annual Art Show in May, where our visual arts are in full display. Finally, be sure to save the date for Night of Worship! We close the year being reminded of the work of our Master Artist who has created and designed each of us in His image, to the Glory of God.

Thank you for being here, and enjoy the show!

DIRECTOR’S LETTER

WINTER PLAY 2026

Welcome to Charlotte’s Web.

This production has been an absolutely darling journey. From our very first read-through, I was struck by the empathy and kindness of this cast. These students didn’t just learn lines or blocking - they really leaned into the heart of the story. They understood that Charlotte’s Web is, at its core, a story about the power of selfless friendship.

As we worked through the show, many of us couldn’t help but notice the beautiful parallels between Charlotte and our God. Charlotte gives of herself completely for Wilbur - using her gifts, her words, and ultimately her life - to save another. She asks for no recognition, no reward, only that Wilbur may live. Her love is HUMBLE and unconditional. In this way, Charlotte’s Web gently reflects our Christian values that true love is found in sacrifice, and that words - when spoken with truth and love - have the power to change hearts.

Our students embraced this deeper meaning with unparalleled maturity. They explored what it means to love others before oneself, to serve without expecting anything in return, and to find purpose in kindness. Watching them wrestle with these themes and bring them to life onstage has been incredibly moving.

We also wanted this production to be a gift to our community. Charlotte’s Web is a story especially close to the hearts of children - and children are the heart of any community. With that in mind, we have worked intentionally to make this experience welcoming to all. We are proud to include a petting zoo and to offer sensory-sensitive options so every audience member can feel comfortable and fully included in the magic of live theatre.

Thank you for joining us today, for supporting the arts, and for celebrating a story that reminds us to live with compassion and love. We hope you leave reminded that even the smallest acts of selfless love can leave an eternal mark.

Enjoy the show!

FEATURED ARTIST

7 QUESTIONS WITH AN ARTS STUDENT

SIMON GORGY

Class of 2026

Simon Gorgy joined the performing arts program in the Spring of his Freshman year, in his first musical, Anastasia, after spending a good amount of time in sports, and has been in every musical since. He has done Acting 1-3 throughout all four years at Orange Lutheran and joined both the dance and choir programs in his Junior year. He is grateful for every performance on the Nechita Stage and is excited to go through this last semester of shows. This program has brought him many memories and friends that he will never forget!

What is your favorite memory on the Nechita stage?

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, my Junior year. There are no words I can say that can describe how amazing the experience of that show was.

In the future I plan to…

In any career path I choose, I hope to make a difference for others.

What inspires you?

My family has always been supportive and has helped me when I have most needed it.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I have pretty old school taste when it comes to music, artists like Sam Cooke, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Billy Joel, Queen, the Beatles, etc.

When you’re not singing, acting, & dancing, where can people find you? Barnes and Noble looking at books, but probably not actually buying any!

What teacher made the biggest impact on you and why?

Mr Wingert. I remember his class and think about it a lot. He was always very kind and supportive of each and every one of us in his classes and supported us in all that we did. Anyone could tell that he had a passion for theology, and he made the class fun.

Favorite Bible Verse Colossians 3:16: "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts."
