My photography experience started back in 1989, while on my honeymoon in Honk Kong, where I bought my first camera in a souvenir store. It was a disposable camera in a simple box, meant to be used once, with a fixed-focus camera and an integrated flash unit that used 135 film or an APS cartridge. Unfortunately, since I was traveling and the film usually takes 24 to 48 hours to be developed, I couldn’t see the final result of the pictures I was taking. When I finally got home, I brought it in to be developed and was so excited to get them back, but when I finally did, they weren’t what I had hoped for. Most of the photos I took were badly exposed, backlit and in shadow. I was devastated by the result, not one photo that could do justice to the beauty of the places I visited in Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong. I couldn’t forgive myself and this is what triggered my decision to start studying photography. I bought my first good quality camera (Canon) and for the next 30 years I gradually learnt how to use the correct exposure and shutter speed, and developed special techniques and new skills for capturing creative photographs. In this photobook I would like to share with you my passion through my photography and digital art that I’ve learnt over the past 30 years, when it all began... Some of these photos are from my vacations in various places around the globe, and some were taken on business trips. You will also find information accompanying some pictures describing the techniques I used to take them. Whatever the reason for visiting, you will always find me on the lookout for interesting subjects to capture. The experience of creating beautiful photographs is one of the best memories you can bring home. The message I would like to convey is to keep your eyes open and not to hesitate. To step outside of your comfort zone and try new things. You may create something compelling and worthwhile by trying and also discover a new passion like I did!

This picture was taken in Turks and Caicos, a very beautiful place with stunning turquoise water. I enjoy taking photos from different angles and distances, I particularly enjoy finding interesting close-ups in my images. In this photo, I was able to discover natures art on the rusted metal that was created by the salty water of the ocean.

A fine art architectural of the New York’s Flatiron Building, which is considered to be one of the world’s most iconic skyscrapers and a famous landmark of New York City.

The distinctive triangular shape of the Flatiron Building, designed by Chicago architect Daniel Burnham and built in 1902, allowed it to fill the wedge-shaped property At 22 stories and 307 feet, the Flatiron was never the city’s tallest building, but always one of its most dramatic-looking, and its popularity with photographers and artists has made it an enduring symbol of New York for more than a century. 45

I created this beautiful picture of swimmers and sailing boat under half moon by combining a moonrise image with a backlit shot of a sailing boat and people swimming in the ocean. I actually photographed the ocean against the light of mid-afternoon sky, intentionally under exposing the image to give it a late day, low light appearance. Then in photoshop, I combined it with the image I took the night before.

The Colosseum or Coliseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheater, located in the center of the city of Rome, Italy, is the largest amphitheater ever built. I gave to this picture some color effect to make it look like a painting.

Portofino, a fishing half-moon shaped seaside village on the Italian Riviera, is well known for its picturesque harbor with pastel houses lining his shore and historical association with celebrity and artistic visitors.

Malta is an archipelago in the central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast. It’s a nation known for historic sites related to a succession of rulers including the Romans, Moors, Knights of Saint John, French and British. It has numerous fortresses, megalithic temples and the Čal Saflieni Hypogeum, a subterranean complex of halls and burial chambers dating to circa 4000 B.C.

There’s nothing nicer than marching around Malta’s streets in the summer, and coming across the many rainbow painted balconies and beautiful houses.

Mykonos is a Greek island, part of the Cyclades, lying between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. The island spans an area of 85.5 square kilometres and rises to an elevation of 341 metres at its highest point. There are 10,134 inhabitants, most of whom live in the largest town, Mykonos, which lies on the west coast. The town is also known as Chora. A whitewashed paradise in the heart of the Cyclades.

The Dead Sea is a salt lake in Israel. Its surface and shores are 430.5 meters below sea level, Earth’s lowest elevation on land. The Dead Sea is 304 m deep, the deepest hyper saline lake in the world. With a salinity of 342 g/kg, or 34.2%, it is 9.6 times as salty as the ocean and one of the world’s saltiest bodies of water. This salinity makes for a harsh environment in which plants and animals cannot flourish, hence its name. The Dead Sea’s main, northern basin is 50 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide at its widest point. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley, and its main tributary is the Jordan River.

The Old City of Jerusalem is surely one of the greatest sites in Israel; amazingly intense, hugely religious, and with history pouring out of every corner‌a must-see in Israel if ever there was one!

San Salvador Island is an island and district of the Bahamas. It is widely believed that during Christopher Columbus’ first expedition to the New World, San Salvador Island was the first land he sighted and visited on 12 October 1492; he named it San Salvador after Christ the Saviour. Columbus’ records indicate that the native Lucayan inhabitants of the territory, who called their island Guamanian, were “sweet and gentle”.

Santorini erupts with charm. A volcano embraced by the Aegean, this island-phenomenon in the Cyclades gives its visitors a mythical experience. The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area [RRCNCA] is located just a few miles west of Las Vegas and encompasses 195,819 acres within the Mojave Desert. Red Rock is an area of world wide geologic interest and beauty.

Las Vegas, in Nevada’s Mojave Desert, is a resort city famed for its vibrant nightlife, centered around 24-hour casinos and other entertainment options. Its main street and focal point is the Strip, just over 4 miles long. This boulevard is home to themed hotels with elaborate displays such as fountains synchronized to music as well as replicas of an Egyptian pyramid, the Venetian Grand Canal, and the Eiffel Tower.

On one of my business trips to China, Shenzhen City, I was walking by a garden with red and yellow flowers with a building behind them. I decided to make something interesting out of it. With my canon 5DS and 24-105 lens @75mm f/14 1/8 sec. I was able to create these abstract works of art by using a polarized filter to decrease the intensity of the light, thus allowing the use of a slower than normal shutter speed, zooming the lens from one focal distance to another during the exposure.

Art from the garden
Malibu ,California
Malibu Colony was one of the first areas with private homes after Malibu was opened to development in 1926. As one of Malibu’s most famous districts,it is located south of Malibu Road and the Pacific Coast Highway, west of Malibu Lagoon State Beach, and east of Malibu Bluffs Park (formerly a state park). May Rindge had protected the Malibu coast with only a few wealthy Hollywood stars having vacation homes there. Rindge opened up this small area for development in 1926. The long legal battle to protect her beloved Malibu coast had been costly and she eventually died penniless. Long known as a popular private enclave for wealthy celebrities, the Malibu Colony today is a gated community, with multimillion-dollar homes on small lots. The Colony has views of the Pacific Ocean, with coastline views stretching from Santa Monica to Rancho Palos Verdes to the south (known locally as the Queen’s Necklace and the bluffs of Point Dume to the north).

As we all know every picture has a story behind it. For example, the photo on the left, I took in Malibu, California. While I was composing the image, I wanted to create an overall sense of harmony and balance. Like the tree and its shadow, created by the vibrant, shining sun, the green grass with the beautiful blue sky, the woman standing alone beside a bench, she seemed like she was waiting for someone. To me this picture made perfect sense, but when I posted it on my Instagram, a friend commented, “There’s something sad, yet beautiful about this shot.” I remembered all the photos I took that day and decided to go back and look through them, to find a resolution to that lonely feeling in that picture of the woman. As you can see by the photo on the right, she isn’t alone anymore.
